After reading Long Hard Ride, the first book of the Rough Riders series I was hooked on western romance. The story continued with Gemma and Cash who we met in the first book. There was a connection with Gemma and Cash but Gemma was not ready to move on after her husband of 25+ years passed away. I really enjoyed reading about Gemma finding love again in her late 40's with Cash. Cash is 10 years younger than Gemma and has a grown daughter of his own to deal with. Her story with Carter McKay was just a bonus in this book. If you love hot western romance you won't be dissapointed in this book or any other of the Rough Riders series.

This is a very steamy book. Cash has been looking at how to get Gemma to be with him. She is all he sees and all he wants. When the widow's stock keeps being rejected by the people in the rodeo circuit, she goes to the rodeo looking for Cash. Gemma will do anything to get him to go work with her at her ranch, even agreeing to the Native American's terms. He doesn't know it, but it really isn't like she hasn't been dreaming about some hot and steamy night with him under her sheets.

Things get a bit complicated when Macie, Cash's daughter appears at the same rodeo expecting to spend some time with him. Cash tells Gemma about his plans with Macie, and she agrees to let Macie stay on her land and work for sustenance. What will happen when she meets there the youngest of the McKay brothers? Carter is spending the Summer helping Gemma with her stock ranch so he can use an old barn as an art studio, just so he is able to finish the pieces he needs for his exhibit.

Everyone thinks that Carter is the most tamed an quiet of the 4 McKay brothers, but what will happen if he falls in love with the untamable Macie? Will this couples survive living together in this land? Will Cash be able to stay with Gemma without getting pulled apart from his daughter? What will become the most important thing for Macie, giving herself and her heart to Carter or finally staying with her dad now that she has gotten to know him better?

This book is hot and steamy to say the list. What I love about it the most is the fact that it doesn't take away the body of the story. The story is structured soundly and you will not lose track of the essence of all of this characters. The characters bring normal situations and that makes their stories relatable. Is a must read, must have. And is not for the faint of heart.

Absolutely love that we are presented with real characters that are not your 20 to 30-year-old heroes and we get a heroine that is a fierce older woman fighting for what she wants to achieve with her business. Gemma is one of my favorite characters in this two books that she has been in.

This was really fun to read, extremely entertaining, and smoking HOT! The Rough Rider series is my new addiction!

This story focuses on two couples, Cash and Gemma and Carter and Macie. I loved Cash and Gemma's story and the second chance at love theme they had going on. It was sweet and endearing. I enjoyed Carter and Macie’s story as well, they had an instant lust thing happening that was hot and intense at times. There are ups and downs for both couples, issues to deal with, a bit of emotion and vulnerability and I liked it all. I also enjoyed the connecting stories happening between them, Cash getting to know his daughter, Macie connecting with Gemma, and the conflict between Carter and Cash. There were just so many little things happening that made it a great story and I liked how it tied together.

I loved that this was a light, sexy read. Not to taxing but it had just the right amount of detail and depth to keep you hooked. There's good character development, a decent pace, and solid stories happening. Of course the heat is off the charts. It’s smoking hot with a bit of kink and eroticism thrown into the mix. You will not be disappointed when it comes to the sexy times.

I liked the main characters well enough but everyone seemed to have a moment where I just wanted to smack them while they were working through their issues. They got there in the end and there were HEAs for everyone which left me super happy. I really enjoyed seeing other members in the McCay clan as well, getting me excited for more of the series.

This was just a great read! An entertaining, sexy-time story with fun scenes and likable characters. I can't get enough of the McCay’s!

This second book in the Rough Rider Series is really a two for one. It's the story of Gemma and Cash, who we met in Long Hard Ride, and also of Cash's daughter, Macie and Carter McKay, the brother of Colby from book one. This book is set one year after the first. Gemma is a forty-eight year old ranch owner and widow who is finally ready to move on with her life. Cash is a thirty-eight year old rodeo cowboy who has recently hung up his spurs and is searching for what to do with the rest of his life. Gemma decides to offer Cash a job as her foreman and he counters her offer saying he will only take the job if his fringe benefits include sleeping in her bed! Trouble is, Cash had planned to hit the road with his twenty-two year old daughter Macie for the summer. Macie comes with him to Gemma's ranch but is not interested in ranch work. She is interested in ranch hand, Carter McKay though. Carter is an artist who, although a capable cowboy, has never felt he had a place on his family's ranch. He is immediately drawn to Macie because he has already seen her in his dreams and has been trying to capture her beauty in his painting. When he sees Macie in the flesh, he tells her she is his muse and the two fall into a steamy relationship. Carter comes to realize that love is the one thing that is more important to him than his art.
This book encompassed a lot of different phases of love: young lovers, a second chance at love couple, parental love and brotherly love. Ms. James wants us to know that HOT SEX is not just for twenty somethings and does not end at forty! She succeeds very well indeed! Adventuresome, raw sexual encounters abound for both couples. Gemma was my favorite secondary character from the first Rough Rider book, so I was hoping she and Cash would get their own book however, Ms. James keeps the action moving by weaving both stories together. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

A continuation of the word that encompasses the McKay family, we explore surrounding characters as well. Gemma and Cash Big Crow are first introduced in book 1-"Long Hard Ride". We return to Gemma's ranch and meet Cash's daughter, Macie, and another McCoy brother, Carter, who are both temporarily staying on the ranch. Gemma and Cash form an unlikely work "agreement" and Macie, who has been long estranged from her father, attempts to form a better and long-lasting relationship with Cash. Carter, an artist by heart but working the ranch for the summer, is immediately smitten with Macie and an unconventional courtship ensues. This book is a step up from its predecessor in character development and storytelling. Though the character's issues may seem superficial, they are handled realistically and quickly. This intense book also gives a little something for everyone. The characters are not all that different from each other, but the wants and needs are, and that makes for 2 distinctly romantic and original stories.
Gemma's issue with loving after a great loss is very compelling and you don't have to have lost a spouse to understand her conflict and inner turmoil at resigning herself to her growing feelings. Cash is also reintroduced and with hi comes the struggle to forgive himself for not being more of an active parent and these newly discovered feelings towards an old friend. They prove that love near & over 40 doesn't diminish and the drives don't go away.
Carter and Macie are a dream-come-true. He is a bold artist, struggling with an intense temperament, and an instant connection with this wayward soul. Macie is probably my favorite because she has the sense of not belonging, mixed in with a need to settle and put down roots, despite her gypsy existence for the past 22 years. I love her good heart and her understanding nature. She is sweet, smart, and equally ferocious. This is a wonderful story and easy read. I recommend anyone that wants a very explicit and intense story give this a go and hold on TIGHT. It is quite the ride!

Gemma and Cash have been fighting their attraction for one another for a while now, we saw it in Long Hard Ride so I was thrilled to see that their story was next in the series, and not only does Gemma and Cash get together but so does Macie (Cash's daughter) and Carter McKay. Its like two books for the price of one. :)
Gemma and Cash - I knew there would be things that they had to work through and their age difference would be at the top of the list because that was Gemma's biggest hangup. While it's only a ten year age difference Gemma was very self conscious about not only what other people would think but if Cash would really find her attractive. There were parts of the story that I wanted to smack Gemma because there should have not been any questions about the way Cash felt about her, he made it very clear from the beginning - she's the boss on the ranch but he's the boss in the bedroom - and he couldn't wait to get her stripped out of her clothes. While they worked through their little issues Cash does everything he can to show her how special he is to her, including fulfilling one of her fantasies.
Macie and Carter - First I am going to start off by saying that no one (with the exception of Trevor) knew that Cash had a daughter. Carter is a brooding artist that is spending his summer on Gemma's ranch helping her out while he is painting and preparing for his upcoming art show. Carter has been having very vivid dreams/visions of a woman that he doesn't know so she becomes the focus of some of his artwork. When he meets Macie, its like his dreams/visions have come alive. The attraction between the two is instantaneous but there is one thing in their way...CASH BIG CROW. Yep there is no way Cash is going to let a McCay near his daughter. Ok, so obviously that doesn't last long.

There is a whole lot going on with both couples and we get to see Channing, Colby, Trevor, along with most of the McCay family as they come for a visit to the Bar 9 Ranch.

What originally drew me to this story was the heroine’s age: Gemma Jansen is 48. I have not read too many romances where the heroine is an older woman and I very much enjoy them. Monica Burns has done it twice, brilliantly, in Pleasure Me and Love’s Revenge.
But this novel is actually two love stories in one. I was hoping the focus would be solely on the older couple (Cash and Gemma) but there is also Cash’s twenty-two year-old daughter, Macie, and Carter McKay, younger brother of Colby from Long Hard Ride.
As in that first book, there is plenty of very hot and raunchy, pushing-the-envelope sex. And Lorelei James writes it very, very, well. It’s well choreographed, almost like a dance, and not awkward like you think it might be.
But the characters and setting are a little too crass and rough for my taste. These characters have whiskey bottles in their car, embark on four day benders, and swear like sailors–well, in this case, cowboys–concepts that are foreign to me. But at its heart, this novel also has some strong themes of love and family and vulnerable and flawed characters whose feelings readers can empathize with.
Macie and Cash Big Crow had plans to spend the summer together, but those plans are revised when Gemma offers Cash a job as foreman at her ranch. He accepts on one condition: that she finally acknowledge and act upon their mutual attraction. Macie comes along to be with her father.
Gemma Jansen and Cash Big Crow are 48 and 37 respectively. She is a widow who enjoyed a long and happy marriage but she’s also lonely and longs to feel desire (and desired) once again. Cash has never known love though he became a father when he was just sixteen. He adores Gemma but he’s also afraid to let her know it because of his stupid cowboy pride.
Carter McKay is an artist with a graduate degree in fine art while Macie has lived a vagabond life. I’m not quite sure what these two have in common besides hot sex, however, and I don’t know if their relationship can last.
I find Carter a little selfish. He gets so wrapped up in his art that he doesn’t call Macie for a week sometimes, despite professing to be so into her. Luckily, Macie is strong and self-assured and lives her own life. She also makes it clear she is not anybody’s doormat.
Carter is the youngest McKay, the most educated, and the quietest in his big boisterous family of wild boys. But he loves hard sex himself, he’s just more discriminating in his tastes. In this, he is a lot like Macie; both feel out of place in the world. He within his large family, and she on the edges of her father’s love and attention. Macie envies Carter his loving family, something alien to her. Secretly, she longs to put down some roots but has no idea how to do it or if she even can.
Macie loves to cook and I like the friendship she made up with the older, wiser, Velma, the owner of the diner where Macie immediately snags a job as a cook and waitress.
Cash is a strong man with strong sexual appetites. He wants it all with Gemma and wants to give her everything, even a threesome with Trevor, Colby McKay’s bisexual friend from Long Hard Ride. Together, Trevor and Cash give Gemma the time of her life. I like that James is not afraid to present an older woman who is sexy as hell.
The title refers to a slang expression which used to refer to horses but now apparently describes the appearance of a promiscuous woman. It’s more than a little cringe-worthy but kind of funny, too, in a boo! hiss! kind of way.
This is the second book in James’ Rough Riders’ series, about cowboys, rough sex, and a hard life in the wide open west. Well written with plenty of action but also plenty of heart.

The intertwining plots in James second entry in her Rough Riders series explore the emotions and goals of both couples. Big Cash Crow will only hire on as Gemma’s foreman if she shares his bed and his daughter Macie can stay on the ranch. She’s a widow who’s trying to continue their ranch business on her own, but is having a rough time. He’s left the rodeo circuit for good and wants to settle down. They’ve been teasing each other for a couple years and it’s time to end their mating dance. Cash hasn’t been honest with his feelings and Gemma attributes that to the ten year difference in their ages. She’s shocked when she discovers his actual reasons.

When his daughter Macie agrees to stay for the summer, they are pleased. Their pleasure turns to apprehension when she shows up with one of the rowdy McKay boys. Carter is an artist and different from the others in his clan. He attempts to show Macie how he feels through his art after he shocks her with some of his sexual proclivities. Carter’s ins and outs of Macie’s life as Cash is against his seeing her, leaves her unsure of their relationship. They get on the same page finally as he convinces her she’s his muse.

James’s talent for contemporary cowboy romance comes to the fore in this sexy, erotic tale with ménage, M/M, and smokin’ hot sex on display. Familial relationships extend beyond each novel as familiar characters roam the pages. I really enjoyed this book as a collective whole as it offered sex, humor and well-developed characters to match a fast-paced storyline. As the story ended, I was eager for another book.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and hones review.

Spoiler Ahead
This was a good book and I love reading Ms. James books. Gemma Jansen's struggling to take care of her ranch on her own while continuing to supply animals for the rodeos. Only none of the promoters seem to want to use any of her animals and none of them can give her a reason why. She's in need of a ranch foreman and believes she knows the perfect man for the job. Cash Big Crow is doing odd jobs now that he has quit the rodeo when Gemma offers him a job as the foreman of her ranch he takes it because it will also give him a chance to get to know his daughter Macie. This book had two story going on in it. I also liked that Cash tells Gemma that by day she is in charge and by night he is. This book was hot with a lot of sexual heat. Although Gemma is very attracted to Cash she is a little reluctant because she is older and a widow. Cash's daughter Macie falls for Carter a cowboy/artist living and working on the ranch. This was a really good book Ms. James knows how to write about hot cowboys. This book was well written and narrated as I listened to it on audio. I am looking forward to listening to the next book.

Rode Hard, Put Up Wet by Lorelei James

Two couples one novel. In this novel we get to see Macie and Carter as well as Cash and Jemma building relationships and love – even when they say on the outset that isn’t what they’re looking for. We also get to see the growing, rebuilding father daughter relationship of Macie and Cash.

Two hot headed men on one ranch especially when one is the father of Macie and the other is screwing her is a recipe for trouble. I love that we get to see the over-protective side of both of them toward the other because it just shows how much they care. The hard headed macho men get their heads handed to them a few times as the story unfolds when the women in their lives remind them that they are quite capable of taking care of themselves – without interference, even when the occasional interference reminds them they are wanted and cared about.

I love how Lorelei James makes characters and settings in such a way that the reader at home cares about the people and comes to cheer on or want to head slap the characters. Yes, characters have issues – but all good characters do because real people do. The fact that Carter is a cowboy turned artist is interesting because it is unexpected – though he definitely needs to learn the meaning of consent. He is right in that nudes can be very artistic. They can show the subject’s soul and life at that moment in time not just their body.

The fact that this story has strong, beautiful, intelligent, capable women as well as the dominant men in their lives is wonderful because you know the joy of submission and release most when you are in control of your outside world. We get to see the return of our favorite characters of the McKay family in this series and I look forward to seeing this continue.

I’d definitely recommend this series. I’m sure reading these books in print would be wonderful but the Audible reader’s sultry voice really helps play up this story. Take a chance and pick up one of these novels – they have romance, hot men, wonderfully written characters and setting, all elements in a story to keep you on the edge of your seat.

In “Rode Hard” Gemma offers Cash the position of Foreman on her ranch, the Bar S, but is that her only intention? Cash accepts Gemma’s offer with some stipulations. One is that his daughter, Macie, also be welcome. Gemma agrees as long as Macie is willing to do odd jobs around the ranch. Macie is fine with living in Cash’s trailer, but has no intention of mucking out horse stalls or any other type of ranch work. Instead, she lands a job at the local greasy spoon. Throw the youngest of the McKay sons into this mix and things get very interesting. Carter, an artist, first sees Macie as a mysterious woman tormenting his dreams. Upon seeing her in the flesh, he realizes his dreams didn’t do her justice. He has to meet her ... has to have her, but Cash has other ideas. ”Rode Hard” is a raunchy, steamy, and at times touchingly sweet two-for-one love story complete with laughter and tears.

Two steamy love stories in one book!! Cash Big Crow and Carter McKay are dynamic characters who steer away from the usual rodeo adventures in the first book. Cash and Gemma start their new adventure together as a couple who are planning the rest of their lives running her ranch together... Carter and Macie are young and hungry and in love. An unlikely pair but they make the perfect couple. Continuing the theme of hot, steamy, sexy, oh my, leg crossing love making and sex having scenes of book one. This series should seriously come with a warning and a fan to cool your jets while reading. Can't wait to read more about the other McKay men and their adventures!!

Lorelei James’ second installment of the Rough Riders series is grittier than the first, offering an injection of much-needed diversity to a genre happy to devote itself to white men and women too much of the time.

Cash, Macie, Gemma, and Carter deal with the real problems of living on a ranch small town USA. As such, the alpha males do not disappoint. The hardworking, rough characters are vulnerable in the only ways they can be. And the women are as smart and tough as they come.

The second installment of the Rough Riders Series is a double treat to sexy romance readers. Gemma Jansen is finally done grieving her late husband. She is ready to track down rodeo circuit rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Which he agrees under one condition… That besides working together, they will play together. Cash has been smitten with Gemma for two years now, and after her disappearing act this past year, he won't be taking any chances. She'll be his and in his bed every night until he convinces her that's where she belongs. Cash is also trying to develop a relationship with his daughter Macie Honeycutt. They've been apart for most of her life and it's time for them to get to know each other. Even if that means she gets to know Carter McKay too. The young McKay artist found in Macie his muse and he won't be letting her go anywhere until they are thoroughly acquainted with each other, his art and perhaps his heart. The double romance brings family, loyalty, love and red hot sex to the forefront. Lorelei James knows how to rodeo and how to play dirty when it comes to her cowboys and cowgirls. A fun read for sure!

The second book in the Rough Riders series focuses on secondary characters Gemma and Cash from Long Hard Ride, and proves to be better than the first in character development and sexiness. After two years of watching and wanting, Cash finally gets to try his hand at riding Gemma, and ultimately the pair dance in a romance of forgetting past mistakes and hurts, while enjoying the current memorable moments with each other through work, and lots of hot, sexual play. We also are introduced to another naughty, but oh so nice, McKay brother - Carter - who first falls in lust with his muse, Macie, and then head over heels in love with the daughter of Cash Big Crow. What A ride! Bring on Book 3!

Something about this story was disjointed to me. I think part of it was how Carter was written. I understand him getting into his work and losing track of time. I even can see how an artist would get test if people saw their work before they thought it was ready. But there is something he does (with his art and in regards to Macie) toward the end of the book that just didn't seem in character to me.

As for Cash and Gemma, I was looking forward to reading their story. The actual dialogue and trial and tribulations they had were beautiful. The whole thing with Trevor, again, seemed to be out of character and just thrown into the mix. In fact, it seemed out of character for Trevor, too.

So while there were many, many pieces that were great with good writing, there were other pieces that just confused and fell flat. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty of people out here that don't read this series for the story. In that regard you will not be disappointed.

Love Carter and Macie and Cash and Gemma!! Love how Lorelei connects each book to the next. Carter was a little rough to know, but after you got to know him and his artistic side, he is a very hot lover. Macie is kinda mysterious, but so is her Dad, Cash. But I like that she finds her passion in cooking and that it makes her happy. So Happy that Cash and Hemma finally get together after 2 long years!! Both are stubborn as the day is long, vut love always finds a way!!Can't wait to read the next one!!

Second in the Rough Riders erotic western romance series. The couple focus is on two different couples on the same ranch: Cash and Gemma and Carter and Macie.

My Take
It is nice to read an erotic romance about an older woman!

When Cash tells Gemma he'll be the boss in bed, he doesn't mean it literally. He means he's the boss when it comes to sex whether it takes place in the barn, the kitchen, a pasture...anywhere he might choose to demand her body and make some creative uses of ropes and spankings. And both Cash and Carter try to fulfill their ladies' fantasies of threesomes.

Cash and Gemma have some issues to work through and there's a very real-world quality to their problems--James writes a great story dealing in emotions and making it a very homey read with family/friend interactions. I did enjoy her descriptions of the blocks Carter is suffering for his art; it definitely touched a chord for me! That bit of tension between Carter and Macie at the end over the nudes he created was a nice touch; I liked the reactions of the McKay boys! Finally sunk it into that boy!!

The Story
Well, this was unexpected. Gemma Jansen offering him a job as foreman on her ranch. And she's accepted his terms. Him. In her bed. And he's the boss in bed while she's boss outside it. The only problem is that it screws up his promise to his daughter to spend the summer with her. Until Gemma tells him that Macie is welcome as well. Cash is lucky that Macie is such a free spirit as she figures Gemma's ranch could be neutral ground for her and her dad to get to know each other.

Then there's Carter McKay. He is one hot cowboy and he'll be at the ranch as well. Huh, Macie doesn't know if it's a line or not when Carter claims she's his muse!

Not a fan of ranch work, Macie finds herself a waitressing job at a local diner which she eventually parlays into a cooking position. Her favorite thing and soon becomes Velma's favorite as Macie's cookin' entices more and more of the locals in to eat.

Yup, Gemma and Cash and Carter and Macie are in for one hot summer at the Bar 9. Gemma and Cash working through their thoughts and expectations of each other, learning each other. Macie unsure as to her welcome and Carter's obsession with his art and her body. An obsession that takes a nasty twist.

The Characters
Gemma Jansen has been widowed two years and ranching forever. Now she's ready to tackle Cash as well as her feelings for him. Cash Big Crow has had a decent career riding bulls but family problems have drained his earnings away. He's been attracted to Gemma for some time now and has been biding his time until she was ready for him.

Macie Honeycutt is Cash's daughter. He hasn't been there for most of her life and Cash is determined to make it up with her. Carter McKay is the youngest of the McKay boys and they all have a reputation for the ladies. He's helping Gemma work the ranch but only part-time; he's more concerned with creating enough art for a big show he's having in a few months. The oldest brother is Cord McKay; his wife divorced him but he has custody of their son Ky. Colby McKay almost got stomped to death by a bull and has made his wife Channing happy by retiring. Colt McKay is still keeping up the brothers' rep for carousing. Cam McKay is a soldier in Iraq. Keely McKay is the only sister. Amy Jo--call her AJ-- is Keely's friend and the two of them will be roommates at college down in Denver.

Velma owns and runs the Last Chance Diner and gives Macie a job. She even lets Macie do some cooking, a task she embraces with love. Jack Donohue is Carter's university friend whom he's asked to help him fulfill Macie's threesome fantasy. Trevor Glanzer is one of the cowboys who has been chasing Gemma and he's a friend to both; he's also Cash's choice to help him fulfill Gemma's threesome desires.

The Cover
It's a western cover all right with the ubiquitous cowboy mounted on his horse silhouetted against a white sky as the chemise-clad cowgirl--with straw cowboy hat--looks on from the open barn door. A lovely "carved leather" border separates the shadowed title from the graphics.

The title certainly plays around as all the important characters are under a lot of pressure in their career and romantic choices...and they certainly do get hot and sweaty. Yup, they all Rode Hard, and get Put Up Wet.

Lorelei James does it again in her second installment of the Rough Riders series. She offers sensual cowboy delight with true emotion. This story is about two couples - Gemma and Cash, Macie and Carter. Basically you get two delectable tales of passion and love. Gemma and Cash's story offers the insight of love for a couple that is more mature in age than most stories of the romance genre offer. I found this aspect of the story very satisfying because this is not an age group that is exploited when it should be. Love transcends age. It should be more glorified than it is. The other romance paralleling Gemma and Cash is juxtaposed against Carter and Macie who are two old introspective souls in their twenties whose passion leads to finding love and acceptance in each others arms. Rode Hard, Put Up Wet was a really good contemporary narrative of love from different perspectives with a lot of spice fused into the stories. Whoo-ee! For those of you who love your romance extra spicy, put on your cowboy hat on and hang on for the ride! You won't regret it.

Here are some of my favorite lines from the book:

--Her head spun like a windmill. The way her skin vibrated, it seemed he was touching every inch of her bare flesh, yet his hands hadn't strayed. He took his own sweet time exploring her mouth. Gauging the change in her heart rate with just a flick of his thumb as the deep kiss became wetter. Hotter.
-- He kissed her like she was air, like she was food, like she was everything.
-- Macie had never been so scared or so hopeful or so paralyzed by emotion in her life. Carter began to walk toward her. "Be brave, Macie. Fight for me. Love me. Accept what I'm offerin' you. Take a chance on me."

Happy Reading from Bona Fide Reflections!!

Giddy-up Cowgirls, Welcome to another deliciously hot read from Lorelei James's addictive Roughriders. This is book 2 in the series although for some reason I missed it the first time through. So now even though I'm up to book 9, I had a super fun time going back to the beginning and revisiting the delicious McKay boys before they all grew up, got married and started acting responsible and repopulating most of Wyoming. With Rode Hard Put Up Wet we of course get all-kinds-of-ways hot and steamy cowboy lovin but here we also get the added bonus of a two-four. As in 2 couples finding love and passion in 1 sexy story and how great is that!

We met our first couple; Gemma and Big Cash Crow in Long Hard Rideand although they're older in the traditional sense (30's & 40's) both still very much have the "it" factor when it comes to spice in the bedroom. I loved their story and definitely preferred it out of the two. Cash even gave me a couple of *sigh* moments when he finally turned the lights on and opened his eyes... Their romance is about second chances, no matter what stage of life you're in.

Explosive, impulsive, selfish, jealous, unsure, intense and at times downright annoying; Cash's daughter Macie and self-centered artist Carter McKay as our second couple personified young love. This pair was all over the place with their emotions and a ton of fun to watch as I never knew what they were going to do next. I had a seriously tough time liking Carter though --as Macie often says "He's a dumb@ss" Finding him immature and for the most part just an idiot. Cash on the other hand is all MAN...

Widow Gemma Jansen is looking for someone to help manage her ranch, luckily she knows just the sweet cowboy for the job. Cash Big Crow has just retired from the rodeo circuit and is looking to reconnect with his grown daughter Macie. Going to work for Gemma might be just the answer everyone's looking for. Giving Cash and Macie the opportunity to settle in one place and get to know each other and Gemma the hired hand she needs. Of course before Cash agrees he has a few non-negotiable conditions; theres won't be a strictly working relationship, Gemma might be the boss lady during the day but once in the bedroom Cash is going to be in charge, no questions asked.

To complete our foursome we're also introduced to ranch hand and I'm too sexy for my boots/tortured artist Carter McKay. He takes one look at Macie and realizes he's found his perfect muse. The artist in him begging to paint her, sculpt her and just plain have her. This doesn't sit well with Cash, he knows all to well the reputations of those hard living, womanizing McKay boys and there ain't no way one of them is getting near his daughter. Oh theres sure to be fun and games and even a few dust ups at the Bar-9 this summer.

As much as I enjoyed this it certainly wasn't my favourite in the series and it took me a while to figure out why I was having a harder time connecting with this story. But with 2 couples and 4 POV's it just wasn't as tight. And with all the switching back and forth neither couple ever felt complete. Anyways, a very small gripe for another great instalment

Well what can I say? Another great story by Lorelei where hot men express their he-man caveman natures and leaves us hot and wanting more. This story is Gemma's (Channing's BFF) and Cash Big Crow a cowboy that just wanted someplace to belong and settle down.

For me it was more about Macie (Cash's daughter) and Carter McKay. Where Carter being the quietest of the McKay men is the most dominating of them. The saying "Watch out for the quiet ones" is really express here.

The story has conflict between Cash and Carter. Between Carter and Macie and hot scenes where the characters let out some of their frustration. This is a great story where it let's us know that no meter if we are young or old we can still find love where we least expect it.

Gemma is looking for a stable foreman for her ranch and she goes after Cash Big Crow a men she is strongly attracted to. She finds him and makes the offer and he agrees to take it on his terms. She is the boss during the day but he is the boss at night. She agrees but is she aware what she gotten herself into?

To complicate matters her only ranch worker right now is Carter McKay, who works part-time and works on his art the rest of the time in the room and board Gemma has provided, the problem is Cash Big Crow has come in with his beautiful daughter Macie which happens to be the woman that has appeared to carter in his dreams? IS this a sign? Is she the muse he needs to get his work done and ready for the exhibit? Can Carter finally realize what is important in his life? Can he reconcile himself to being one of the McKay's? this book is very steamy and you get two stories in one plus and update on Channing and Colby.

Another great read by Lorelei James! I loved this book - there's so much about family dynamics I can totally relate to. Be it the age differences in some of the couples (there's 9+ years between my husband and me), Gemma's insecurities about her body as she gets older, or the developing relationship between Cash and Macie - that one hit very close to home. I can't wait to meet the rest of the McKay family!!

This is a great addition to Lorelei James's rough rider series and actually covers two couples; Cash and Gemma along with Macie and Carter. I really loved watching Gemma come out of her shell and Cash make her realize that there is life after loss. Then there is Macie who just wants to get to know her dad (Cash) and was not expecting Carter so that was a pretty amazing sub plot! Well done Lorelei
