This book starts out full of action when country music star Devin McClain answers his door to the pounding of his road manager, Crash. Crash is so thankful to find him as a disaster has happened on his tour bus and Crash is rampaging about the danger and the threats. Crash even contacted Devin’s agent since he felt the risk was too much.
This leads to Devin needing more security, however he will only agree to one being with him all the time. He is not happy about needing added security and really wanted nothing to do with it.
Here comes Liberty Masterson. Liberty is a no-nonsense kind of girl. I certainly loved her. She’s trained well and a soldier so she knows her stuff. She is in for one hell of a challenge with the sexy Devin, and his voice that drips of sexy! Liberty has to guard Devin while she’s undercover which leads her to having to pretend to be his girlfriend. Upon meeting Devin, Liberty feels he is a pompous ass! He sure did not give her any reason to believe otherwise. Devin on the other hand does not like any of the female guarding him crap. He lets his mouth get the best of him!
After being on the tour together for a while Devin is starting to realize there’s more to Liberty then he realized. Will Liberty be the one to change Devin’s one nightstand habits? Will Liberties heart betray her? Will they be able to save each other?
You will have to read this wonderful book to find out the answers. Give it a try you will not regret it! Thank you very much Lorelei James I look forward to more of your writing. This book earned four well-deserved stars for me. Thank you very much.

Story of country music star Devin McClain, who is the heartthrob of every woman's fantasy. And some women get to live out that fantasy after his show in his room. Former soldier Liberty Masterson is with a very prestigious security firm and has now been hired to be McClain's bodyguard after some very suspicious incidents have been happening while he is on tour. This book started out with a great story line and plot, and had some suspense and romance. Unfortunately for me, it lost the story line and came to be a play-by-play of their sexual antics. It became boring and tedious for me reading the same thing over and over. I did not like either of the characters. He was a narcissistic jerk and she was too "butchy" for me. I felt like the author just copied and pasted all the same scenarios and dialogue over and over. There was no imagination at all. I love romance and hot sex, but this was too much for me. I like substance in a book and this lacked it. I respect others getting off on this sort of writing, but its not for me. I usually read a book this size in about 3 days. This took me over a week, because I kept putting it away because I lost interest.

*********************************CONTAINS SPOILERS AT THE END******************************************
Liberty Masterson is an honorably discharged Army veteran turned security specialist tasked with job of keeping country musician Devin McClain safe from an overzealous fan(s). The start of this business relationship is a rocky one due to misconceptions and jockeying for upper hand in their working relationship, but the more and more they are together, especially on the tour bus, they come to find out that many of their preconceived notions are very far off the mark.
I’ll say it right now, I loved Liberty. I loved her straight forward, blunt nature. The way that she spoke her mind and didn’t take shit from anyone. As well as how she was strong enough to admit she was wrong. I also loved seeing the softer, caring side to her and her vulnerable side. She was a well balanced character that kept me on my toes. Devin came as a surprise. Yes he loves being a Hillbilly Rockstar and all that comes with it, but he isn’t all about the pomp and circumstance. He’s creative, soulful and much more observant that one would expect and also more damaged. Watching these two come to terms with their pasts, both individually and as a couple, was a fun ride.
What also made this book highly enjoyable for me was being able to catch up with the Turners. Of the entire series Saddled and Spurred is my favorite and I’ve loved gathering more information about them from the other books, so to say I was thrilled that this one was about Harper’s sister is an understatement, since it meant that we would get to spend a little time catching up with Bran, Harper, Tate and Jake and Ms. James did not disappoint. Being able to see how close not only Harper and Liberty are, but Bran and Liberty as well as getting a peek at where Bailey is at, made my day. As well as being able to hang out with the Mud Lilies. No Blacktop Cowboy story should ever be without them.
**********************************************SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER**********************************************
As much as I loved the book, there were two parts that made me go “Oh” and not in a good way.
The first was towards the end when Devin found out that someone in his crew/band was trying to spread rumors and sell pictures of him and Liberty to a newspaper and did not inform Liberty of it. It’s not that I didn’t understand why he did it, but after all the groundwork that had been laid where he was shown to finally respect Liberty’s job, a job that she took a lot of pride in, as his bodyguard it just seemed to negate it all.
The second is that in Turn and Burn we find out that Janie has given birth to her second child, Celia, Tierney are pregnant with their 1st, and Lainie is pregnant with her third, but there is nothing as to the sex or names of the children, even in the epilogue. So I was hoping that we’d find out at least the sexes in this book, but unfortunately we do not. We do find out that Celia and Kyle have a girl, which is great but it would have been nice to have gotten caught up with the rest of them. I understand and respect that Ms. James needs to go with her gut and not everyone can have a spot in the story, but it would have made it that much better for me if we had.

Although I’m a big fan of Lorelei James’s McKay books, my heart will always belong to her Blacktop Cowboys, and HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR, the latest entry in the series, reminds me exactly why they are among my very favorites.
We’ve already met our hero and heroine in previous stories, but even if this is your first visit to the friends and family in Muddy Gap, you’ll have no trouble diving in to this wonderful romance. Both Devin McClain and Liberty Masterson hail from the same small town in Wyoming, but had never crossed paths until the day she was assigned to be his personal bodyguard. Now he’s got to let this frustrating bossy woman in every aspect of his life while continuing to entertain people all over the country one night at a time. Liberty’s still adjusting to civilian life after multiple tours in Afghanistan, and it’s only by keeping men at arm’s length that she’s been able to deal with the loss of the only man she’d let herself care about. Being around the deliciously attractive Devin every waking moment is wearing her down, and the last thing she needs is to let this man distract her from her duty. But when they finally succumb to their mutual attraction, it’s only a matter of time before a moment of weakness could put both their hearts and lives in danger.
One of the things I love the most about Lorelei James’s Blacktop Cowboys series is how people you only meet briefly in previous books can still be memorable enough to rate a story of their own later in the series. Both Devin and Liberty have been in the background here and there, but they come into their own beautifully in HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR. We knew Devin’s success as a rich and famous singer hadn’t changed how he behaved around his childhood friends in Muddy Gap, but that it had kept him from letting any woman get close enough to see the true man inside. That duality is all the more poignant here when we see how the loss of his younger sister had affected his relationship with his family and hindered his ability to love anyone else. But Liberty had just as much trouble trusting and loving for similar reasons after she saw how easy it was to lose a loved one in a war zone. So it was no surprise that it took the forced proximity of living on Devin’s tour bus and her task of keeping him safe before she could let herself give in to the irresistible sexual chemistry they shared. Yet what neither of them could know at that moment was that they had just each found the one person who could save them from their self-imposed solitude forever.
The best part of HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR was how we got to see both Devin and Liberty learn to let love back in, and that the choice they’d each made to keep their hearts safe was the last thing the people they’d lost would have ever wanted for them. There were several times where each had their tenuous hold on this new love tested, and each time they came back to try again was another mini-victory that made me cheer. Even the subplot of the possible threats against Devin’s life which had brought them together was kept at just the right level of suspense so that it worked to move the romance forward instead of forcing it into the background. By the time the tour is over and the threat neutralized, we know that Liberty and Devin will have to be together for the rest of their lives, even if it takes them a little more time to figure it out. And that’s when we get yet another perfectly orchestrated happy ending for two people that deserve every bit of it. HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR not only let me visit Muddy Gap for another sensuous and sentimental romance, it reminded me that you should never give up on love, and that’s just one of the many reasons why it’s among the best romances I’ve read in 2014.

This review is for book six in the Blacktop Cowboys series. This series of books feature various friends from Wyoming who each are making a life for themselves but along the way may need just a little help. These rough tough cowboys are hot and sexy and always guaranteed to give readers a wild ride!
Devin McClain has finally hit the big time and this country boy is truly riding the wave of success but success always has a price! Devin has always had to contend with fanatical followers and his life is never truly private but when one of his crew gets hurt it's time to beef up the security. Devins not keen on having a bodyguard twenty four seven but when both his agent and record label insist he reluctantly agrees. What he hadn't expected though was for a ballsy ex soldier with more curves than a Porsche to be his new round the clock minder! Thrust together on his tour bus Devins finally met his match.
Liberty Masterson is a former soldier working in the security business. Being offered the job of four months on the road with one of the hottest tickets in country music should be straight forward but with Devin nothing's as it seems. First Liberty has to look the part and then she has to pretend to be his latest floozie! This cowboy may be hot but he's not going to turn Liberty's head, is he? As they increasingly spend time together Liberty sees an unexpected side to Devin and she likes it, oh boy does she like it! Devins sexy and has an appetite that just might see him quenching a fire that's raging inside Liberty but there's a reason he needs protection and Liberty can't risk losing her focus. The rocking distraction he poses is the least of her worries though as when the tour is over then she just might leave her heart behind.
I love the sexy cowboy books that this author writes and even though this book is not set in a rural landscape we still get treated to a whole lot of western style loving! This story is rife with so much lust and passion that I'm surprised my kindle didn't start to melt! This is such a hot couple but they are perfectly matched. It doesn't matter how in charge Liberty may be in her work when it comes to the bedroom Devin takes matters ( and other things!) into his own hands! It's a tough journey for these two characters though as Liberty doesn't see a place for herself long term in Devins world . She's a woman who knows what she wants and her career is important to her. A life at a mans beck and call is not for her but what else could Devin offer?
Devin is quite guarded emotionally and indeed he's had really bad experiences in the past but his journey with Liberty is filled with heart. I was so busy being engulfed by the white hot passion between these two that I hadn't expected the author to cause me to tear up with just a few sentences during a beach scene. No spoilers here but to go from erotic scenes to pure emotion so easily is an amazing talent and I applaud Ms James for such a fantastic piece of writing. I've never read a book about musicians on the road before and I was immensely impressed with just how realistic this story felt and I could almost imagine that I was on tour with these amazing characters! This series has certainly hit it's stride and each book has a unique feel . I think they are all easily read as standalone's but it would be a crying shame to miss out on all the goodness that the Blacktop Cowboys offer! Filled with lots of hot sex maybe not for the faint of heart but if you are broad minded and want a story that will pull you in then this book delivers, big time!

Get ready for a rockin’ good time with Hillbilly Rockstar! Lorelei James kicks up the heat with this sultry romance and keeps things lively thanks to her two endearing, heart-headed leads.
Liberty is a tough-as-nails veteran who’s an intriguing mix of strength and vulnerability. I loved how kick-ass she was and admired her intelligence, and the way Devin gets under her skin and into her heart made the pages of Hillbilly Rockstar fly by. And speaking of Devin…man, he’s just about every woman’s fantasy come true. Who could resist a charismatic, gorgeous musician with a good heart? Thankfully, Ms. James doesn’t make Devin perfect. His pride and resistance to admitting he needs protection leads him to be a bit of a jerk to Liberty in the beginning of the story. But not only does she call him on it, Devin does a complete one-eighty once he gets to know Liberty. The two of them have excellent chemistry and there’s a sense of realism to their relationship thanks to the ups and downs their burgeoning romance faces. It isn’t smooth sailing when a protective, traditional (for lack of a better word) guy like Devin has a female bodyguard. But every bump in the road is worth it in the end.
Though Devin and Liberty’s relationship is the center of Hillbilly Rockstar, the threats against Devin and the not-always-glamorous life of a musician on tour round out the story and were just as entertaining as the romance. In addition, we get to see Liberty and Devin’s friends and family, many of whom are past Blacktop Cowboys heroes and heroines. While Hillbilly Rockstar can be read as a standalone, fans of the series will undoubtedly love the opportunity to catch up with some of their past favorite characters. I’ve been reading this series out of order, but after finishing Hillbilly Rockstar I definitely want to catch up on the characters whose books I’ve missed.
Hillbilly Rockstar delights from beginning to end thanks to the story’s appealing leads and Ms. James’s lively prose. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Liberty and Devin and I can’t wait to read more Blacktop Cowboy books.

Lorelei James has done it YET again! With a much different feel to this story than the rest of the series, I fell in love with Devin from the start. He’s a country music superstar. While on tour, he starts getting some threats and when things become a bit too dangerous, a professional has to be called in to protect him.
That professional turns out to be Liberty. Much to Devin’s surprise, a woman. But with her military background, she’s just the girl for the job and can go on tour under the disguise of being his personal assistant. Things start off a bit on rocky ground with them and Devin’s attitude doesn’t help matters while the tour begins.
I love a cocky, but deep down genuinely good guy. Devin has that going for him in spades. Even though he has the rock star reputation, and lives up to some of the hype, he’s looking for something more meaningful. He’s just the type of hero I adore falling in love with!
Then there’s Liberty. I like the darker heroines, with a tough background. Liberty is totally kick ass in that sense. But I also enjoyed seeing the more feminine side of her in this book. Key is always to find the right balance for that kick ass woman to become soft enough and Ms. James did a wonderful job with Liberty. She doesn’t need to change for her man, but she does soften and open up.
This is just the type of sexy and at the same time feel good story I love to get lost in. It’s extremely hot, I mean, come on we are talking about Lorelei James here! Their chemistry left me hungry for more. But that feeling of family and friendship is there, even when we are in the periphery. The developing relationship between Devin and Liberty left me happy and content and again wanting and craving for the next book.

Of all of the Muddy Gap friends, Devin was always the one I was least interested in learning more about. I don't know what it was, I didn't ever dislike him in the other books. He just seemed to be on the periphery of everything. Which ended up being perfect for him to have a romance with Liberty, who we had never really met in person to this point.
Devin does some things and say some things in the first chapters of this book that actually made me almost hate him. Of course, being we all know what type of book this is, he redeemed himself by the end. Actually he redeemed himself by the middle. Liberty was a tougher nut to crack. Although I understood her thinking and often wanted to give her a hug, she could be prickly. But that was the point I think.
There are so many holes that can be picked into this story and how things played out, but I'm rating this one on my enjoyment of the story instead of the specifics of how things would play out in real life.
I must say, I'm curious to see the couple's interactions with others in Muddy Gap in future books to see how much they ended up revealing of their true story.
For those that care, this book has some hot scenes but seemed pretty tame compared to the others. It was more romantic in my opinion.

I must say, I'm curious to see the couple's interactions with others in Muddy Gap in future books to see how much they ended up revealing of their true story.
For those that care, this book has some hot scenes but seemed pretty tame compared to the others. It was more romantic in my opinion.

“Devin knew he shouldn’t be having those thoughts, but even after just one day, he knew he’d never met a woman quite like Liberty.”
Rockstars, bodyguards, and sex, oh my! When Devin McClain first meets Liberty Masterson, sparks fly, but not the good kind. Devin, a sexy country music star, resents his need for a bodyguard, even though it’s clear he’s not safe. Liberty just wants the payday and the chance to move up in her line of work. Together on a tour bus for four months, that prickly professional tension will quickly turn in to sizzling and undeniable sizzling tension, and the possibility of even more.
I loved this book because it had so many things that I enjoy reading: a hot cowboy rock star, a badass chick for a female lead, plenty of steamy sex, and an emotional romance, all perfectly balanced with humor and a bit of suspense. Obviously if you’re reading a romance and you throw two sexy people together, alone, on a luxury tour bus for hours at a time then something is going to happen. I completely enjoyed Devin and Liberty’s story and the way it progresses from strained professionalism to spicy sexual chemistry, to a real, but undeniably complicated relationship.
Lorelei James has written genuine and multi-dimensional characters with very natural chemistry. Both Devin and Liberty have compelling back-stories and are relatable and engaging. Devin is everything you want in a charming, gorgeous, sex-oozing-from-every pore rock star. Liberty is definitely a match for him: she’s a tough ex-army female with a strong personality and a bangin’ body. Both characters have some major emotional walls erected, but are written with enough vulnerability. They may seem like an unlikely couple at first, but as the story moves forward it seems obvious they belong together. Oh, and the sex between these two is amazing. It might be necessary for Liberty to be Devin’s protector when in public, but behind closed doors Devin is ALL alpha male. These two are up for just about anything and the sex scenes are numerous and very well written.
“He wouldn’t deny himself any part of her body. The sooner she understood he liked raunchy sex of all flavors, the better.”
The story is full of emotional ups and downs as our characters take us along with them on tour, and I felt like I was right there with them through every high energy performance, steamy encounter, and the quiet moments in between. This is a book that kept my full attention from the first page to the very last and had me laughing out loud and wiping away tears. One of the author’s many strengths lies in the dialogue she writes. It’s always natural and genuine, and everything from the witty banter to the dirty talk always feels completely real. A great supporting cast of characters adds color and dimension to an already engaging story. Lorelei James perfectly executes a combination of rock star and bodyguard romance, with the female lead as the fearless protector. HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR is perfect for readers that enjoy an HEA romance with a healthy dose of, sex, emotion, humor, healing, western charm, and a little suspense. I will absolutely read more from this author and this series.

*I gave this audiobook an A- for the narration and B+ for the story at AudioGals*
What happens when a “Guitar Slinger” meets “GI Jane”? Hot, sexy sparks fly of course! I’ve been looking to listen to one of Lorelei James’ titles for a while now, so when I saw the book description for Hillbilly Rockstar, I just knew I could wait no longer. While Ms. James is well known for her heated, erotic romances, Hillbilly Rockstar also delivers an intriguing plot with elements of action and suspense, as well as an interesting glimpse at the complexities of work/love relationships.
When threats and a violent attack are geared towards country music star Devin McClain, he is left with no choice by his production company, but to hire security. Extremely protective of his privacy, and believing he is still able to protect himself, he insists on limiting the visibility of his security guard. So when the security company he hires suggests that former soldier, Liberty Masterson, join his tour as his personal bodyguard, Devin reluctantly agrees figuring that, giving his hard earned reputation as a playboy of monumental proportions, it will be much easier to have a woman blend in, especially if she agrees to only identify herself as his “personal assistant” and agrees to look and dress the part.
Their ruse works and everyone on his team assumes that she is the next “groupie”, even if she is on his payroll, in a long string to warm his bed. This rumor is made particularly palpable by the fact that, in order to fully protect Devin at all times, Liberty insists on moving in with him in his tour bus. The sexual tension immediately begins to mount, even as Devin initially still attempts to sow his playboy roots, and Liberty tries to act like it doesn’t bother her. With a $100,000 completion bonus, that not even Devin is aware of, looming in the horizon, she is determined to see her job through no matter how raunchy his ways may seem.
It doesn’t take long for Devin to realize that he’d rather spend his time with Liberty, than with the tons of meaningless groupies who constantly throw themselves at him. When Liberty and Devin inevitably get physical, Devin makes it clear that while he will allow her to be in charge out in public, he’s in charge in the bedroom. However, can Devin ever alpha his way into her heart? Moreover, just as the heat factor amps up, so does the danger. Will Liberty be able to figure out whose threatening Devin in time to keep him safe as the numerous threats begin to materialize?

Author Lorelei James returns to her Blacktop Cowboys erotic romance series with the sixth installment, Hillbilly Rockstar. Fans of the series will find this one a bit of change from the hunky ranchers and cowboys that James usually writes about, but she doesn't stray too far. Country music and cowboys seem to go hand in hand with this story about a musician, his female bodyguard and the relentless price of fame. Readers looking for a steamy read, that tugs at the heartstrings, need look no further.
What I liked:
I have read several of Lorelei James' books, but never one from the Blacktop Cowboys series. Hillbilly Rockstar wasn't exactly what I expected but in this case that certainly wasn't an issue. James once again provides a book that has all the passion and heart needed in a great romance, while also giving readers a look into the behind scenes life of both a country music star and a security specialist. That's a lot on the plate for one book, but James pulls it off like a walk i the park, balancing all the different aspects of the story well and keeping the reader engaged and present throughout.
I am a country music fan. Yep, I said it. I like all that twangy, gritty, music about loving, lying and good ol' boys. But when it comes to reading I don't always like a story line that features a celebrity falling in love with a person off the street. But this one was a little different. Country star Devin McClain finds himself in a bit of a bind when his crew and record label decide he needs a bodyguard. What he doesn't expect is an ex-military, hard nosed woman like, Liberty to show up in his life. I can totally see where a bodyguard and a star could get together because they have to spend an inordinate amount of time together and the stakes are pretty high. So the plot was totally believable for me and gave me great look into both the perils of the rockstar lifestyle and the grit and tenacity of the typical bodyguard.
I loved the behind the scenes look at the Devin's tour and felt like I could understand his tension and the backbreaking pace at which his life was traveling. Being a musician at that level has it's perks for sure, but everything comes at a cost. The cost of his freedom, his peace and almost his life. I don't think I realized the demands put on a star to such an extent before. It rang true and I am sure readers will feel the authenticity that James gives the story.
Liberty's life as an ex-military woman, trying to reenter society and find a place for herself was no less entertaining. Seeing her change and adapt to each situation she was faced with, showed her resilience and fortitude. She wasn't an easy lady to understand and that made it all the more engaging to read about her. Both of these characters was amazing. James does a great job of showing all the reasons they shouldn't be together and all the reasons that they should.
The romance was hot and steamy and these two were definitely a case of opposites attracting. Liberty is used to being in complete control of most situations but Devin is an alpha male in his own way and takes over in the bedroom, giving Liberty a chance to let go and experience love making from a whole new perspective. I thought this part of the book was passionate and sensual and had all the right elements.
What I didn't like:
Liberty's stubbornness did get in the way a little bit, but I felt like that was an essential part of her character. She is portrayed as a tough as nails woman. Had she given in and turned over that control early on in the novel, I don't think it would have been as good. But at times it felt like she was trying to hard to appear tough. Sometimes I want a lead character who isn't afraid to let go.
Bottom Line:
As far as cowboy romances go, this one was top notch. James gives readers two totally opposite characters and makes a way for them to be together, proving that true love always finds a way. The behind the scenes look at both the music and security industries was entertaining and interesting. It showed the hard line and hard work it takes to be in the spotlight and the sacrifices it takes for fame. An awesome erotic read!

PJV Quickie:
While I was introduced to Lorelei James' seductive brand of cowboy in her Rough Riders series, it's her Blacktop Cowboys that steal my heart. I was a little nervous going into Hillbilly Rockstar, since the hero of the story didn't actually do any ranching, but I shouldn't have worried - Lorelei James writes some sexy, sexy cowboys!
Review:
Whenever I'm in the mood to read some hard-working, good-looking, fun-loving cowboys, I know exactly which author to turn to - Lorelei James. In looking at my ratings for this series, I've given each of the previous books 4 stars. In her Blacktop Cowboys series, she's created a world in Muddy Gap, Wyoming that is full of sympathetic characters whose stories are irresistibly readable and I enjoy going back to visit with each new book.
Hillbilly Rockstar pairs two unlikely characters: Liberty Masterson, a former soldier who now works for an elite security company as a bodyguard, and Devin McClain, a country-music superstar who is having some security issues on tour. When a member of his crew is attacked on his personal tour bus, Liberty is called in to go undercover as his "assistant". Devin doesn't want a bodyguard, and Liberty doesn't want to guard Devin, but her boss makes an offer she can't refuse.
I liked Liberty in that she was confident and brash and doesn't put up with stupidity. She works hard and has goals. One thing that sort of stuck around in the back of my mind though, was the fact that she dated her superior officer in the army and then she dated her charge (Devin) as a security guard; I don't have any sort of medical degree but this seems to be self-destructive behavior to me.
That being said, I really enjoyed reading these two interact and build trust between them. Their scenes together were sexy and fun. The mystery was a bit predictable, but for me the romantic interaction between Liberty and Devin made up for it. Both characters are stubborn and have issues that can't be avoided while they're spending so much time together in the isolated world of a music tour; they start off antagonistic towards each other, but that animosity turns to lust and then genuine affection.
Recommendations:
If you're looking for an entertaining Cowboy Romance, look no further than Lorelei James - great characters, steamy love scenes, and interesting storylines make her books hard to put down.

flannery
Sixth in the Blacktop Cowboys western romance series. The couple focus is on Devin McClain and Liberty Masterson. Most of the story takes place on Devin's tour bus as they travel cross-country.
My Take
Ooh, baby, Devin puts his foot in it big time right at the start, and Liberty does not allow Devin an inch. She calls him on everything. Harper's happy, though. She's been setting sexy clothes aside for Liberty for ages. You'll love how Harper turns Liberty around and makes Devin eat his words!
James has a good time with her characters snarking back and forth at each other even as they have some lustful thoughts in their minds. They each have their mental conflicts and regrets about that initial meeting.
James brings Devin down to earth and makes him a more rounded character with his insistence on hospital visits and his demands about the after-concert eats. I like that he is man enough to admit when he's wrong, and his burgeoning romance with Liberty is fun, although James doesn't do quite enough to make me believe his sudden turnaround. That, or I just don't understand the male mind and how appearance can switch 'em on and off. Hmmm…
Lest you think it's all fun and games, Jase and Tay have a conflicted relationship which isn't helped when Tay realizes she's pregnant; those fans — the crazy ones and the lustful ones — keep things, um, interesting; the new diva who joins the tour, LOL; that karaoke moment…*more laughter*…; and, the surprise of Liberty's voice — and what Devin has in mind for her.
You don't always get along with family, but you don't screw them over either. And when one of the crew claims he sees Devin and the band as family, well, he'd better pony up on that.
It's a fun story with a look backstage and behind-the-scenes of a music tour. Devin is a sweet guy, considerate of others, and totally involved in his music. Part of the sweetness of this story is how much Devin loves his "job". He is serious about it and appreciates what he has. Nor is he afraid of controversy as you'll understand from his song "What Love Isn't". Another sweet aspect of Devin. There's no great emotional ups-or-downs, just the expected ones. Some sweet sex in this as well.
"'You can't bow down to the haters,' Flynn said. 'The song is about the writer's vision, not the listener's.'"
The Story
A series of mishaps are interfering with Devin's Heroes and Heartbreakers tour, and management is insisting on a bodyguard after a man is beaten almost to death in Devin's bed. Only Devin's worried about his image. How could a man like him need a…a…bodyguard? Especially a female and such an ugly one! It does not help that they've decided to introduce her as his personal assistant.
And Liberty, poor Liberty, she doesn't even like country music, let alone an ego-driven rockstar.
The Characters
Former soldier, Liberty Masterson, is still on probation with GSC Security and loving every minute of it. Partly because she bought herself a new baby, her baby-blue Mustang. Zeke and Spike are bodybuilders (and brothers) who weight-train at GSC and sleep with Liberty at night. Harper Masterson Turner is her sister ( Saddled and Spurred , 2) and runs Wild West Clothiers at Renner's resort, the Split Rock ( Wrangled and Tangled , 3). She's married to Bran, a rancher, and they have two kids: Tate and Jake. Bailey is their little sister who's also in the army, a med specialist.
Devin McClain is his stage name. Devin McClain Hollister is the ranch kid he was back in Rawlins/Muddy Gap. Renee is his older sister, and she's married to Chuck. Michelle is the little sister who inspires those hospital visits.
Crash Cavanaugh is his road manager. JT is the usual bus driver; Reg is the backup driver who'll take over for the rest of the tour; Sarge, a former marine, is in charge of stage setup, the front-of-house merchandise stalls, and roadies; Check handles the band instruments; Boomer; Mike; and, Rick rotates between driving the equipment truck and the band's bus.
Band members include Odette, his string player and songwriting partner who's been with Steve, the drummer, these past five years; Jase is lead guitar and hooks up with Tay, the keyboard player and backup singer, whenever they tour; Gage is the bassist; and, Leon plays slide steel. They've been with Devin from the beginning.
Rosenthal is with Big Sky Promotions who set up the tour. Carl Carlson is its head honcho. LaGruder Security is providing two men as fill-in until Liberty takes over. Marco is with the company that will go over the bus in Portland.
Lee Stoltz and Eric Hofer are Double Trouble and share a record label with Devin who asked for them as one of his opening bands. The Wright Brothers Band is one of Liberty's favorites and includes Paxton, the oldest brother who leads the band and does the lead vocals; Flynn, the second oldest brother who is the lead guitar; and, the twins, Easton and Weston, who play drum and bass, respectively. They're notorious for their bad boy behavior. They're also fun guys…*grin*… Jesse-Belle is a twenty-year-old pain-in-the-butt diva who needs some maturity laid on her.
Garrett Barker runs a security firm, GSC Security, in Denver. Joe is his second. Tex-Ass is Tanna Barker, Garrett's sister and a good friend of Devin's from Turn and Burn , 5. She's with Dr. August "Fletch" Fletcher, the hot veterinarian.
The groupies include Gretchen, a features reporter for the Kansas City newspaper; Inez Vanderpool was the first crazed stalker; and, Eve is one of five in a line-up in Salt Lake City. China Marquette is a former girlfriend and a nutjob. Daisy Sue Seftner is a reporter with the Tri-City Register. Berle County Officer Mahoney identifies Emil Chartes, a loudmouth jerk. Sean is the lover about whom Liberty has nightmares. Mack LeFabre is the lead singer for Southern Comfort and his experiences caught Devin up. Chelsea Lynn is a favored reporter with Country Music Today, and she's got a problem for Devin. Waverly O'Brien is a reporter from a religious magazine Song of Solomon. Chumley and Carny are intent bad guys. Jada is the realtor in Denver.
Back in Rawlins/Muddy Gap
Zinnia is back to working part-time for Harper as is Harlow, Tierney's sister. Buckeye Joe's is where Sherry tends bar and girls' night out will happen. It'll include Celia ( One Night Rodeo , 4); Bernice from Beauty Barn (she gave Liberty tips on who to see in Denver); and, the Mud Lilies: Tilda, Miz Maybelle, Pearl, Garnet, and Vivien. Hugh is the foreman at the Split Rock, and Tobin is Renner's genetics expert.
The Cover and Title
You can't mistake the cover for anything but a western romance with Devin in a wide-brimmed black cowboy hat, his white button-down shirt open halfway down his yummy chest, sleeves rolled up to the elbow, and tight jeans as he leans against a red pickup, and holds up an acoustic guitar.
The title is all about Devin, 'cause he's a Hillbilly Rockstar. A bit of a misnomer, really, since Devin is anything but a hillbilly.

Rating from me: 3.5 to 4 stars
Lorelei James' writing is never bad, but this was far from my favorite of the series. I had hoped for more though with the build-up of Devin the rockstar from the prior book. He seemed like such an interesting character, but in his own book he comes off pretty bland honestly. He is suffering from some issues mentioned in the previous books, a stalker or something, and his label presses him to hire extra security. He goes to the company owned by Garrett, Tanna's brother. Unknown prior, Liberty, the military sister of Bran's wife, who was injured at the end of the last book, works for Garrett. And guess who is assigned to guard him? Yep, Liberty. So a country music star and a basically career military now security specialist. But most of the book was on and on about the tour bus and each venue and afterparty. Not a lot of excitement either due to external or internal factors, and Devin comes off as a complete jerk through a book first portion of the book, complete with banging groupies while Liberty stands guard for him. How admirable in a hero - NOT! It works out in the end (it is a romance), and we move on.
I'll continue with the series; most of these have been great. I'm wondering if the guys working for Garrett and Garrett himself will ever be a series. They seem more interesting than Devin was! So 3.5 to 4 stars, polished writing as usual, wasn't that interested in the plot.

Country superstar Devin McClain does not want increased security. Especially when he realizes his new bodyguard is a woman. Liberty Masterson is a former soldier turned security specialist. She spends a lot of time trying to fit in, in what is primarily a mans world. When they are together sparks fly. She is in charge of security, but in the bedroom he calls the shots. As the tour progresses so does their relationship.
Though part of the Blacktop Cowboys series this one can truly be read as a standalone in my opinion. While normally I like catching up with previous characters in a series, it was very refreshing to spend the majority of this story outside of Muddy Gap and the ranching business. Devin while a little backwards in his thinking at first quickly redeems himself and the majority of the internal conflict in the story lies with Liberty. She is the one who is more hung up on the limits of their relationship. The chemistry between the two is off the charts. They way they are both so open and adventurous when it comes to sex made it very fun.
I had a bit of an issue with the fact that both Liberty and Devin brush off her flashbacks, even after she has one during the day. If simple things can trigger them I would think she has no business being someones bodyguard. I would also have liked to have heard more about the controversial song that was mentioned over and over. It seemed like the author was going somewhere with it but then it never panned out.

REVIEW:
Hillbilly Rockstar is absolutely amazing! This might be my favorite in Lorelei James's Blacktop Cowboys series! Hot, exciting and sexy! Devin is a hot country music star. A star that seems to have some random threats aimed at him. When his record label insists on a bodyguard there was no way he could have predicted a lady would be assigned and his ego had a hard time accepting it. Instant attraction and sizzling chemistry makes it hard to fight the attraction and once Liberty finally gives in to Devin they could not keep their clothes on and their hands off of each other. Liberty knew there was no way their relationship would ever be more than the time they had together on the tour, but she was going to enjoy every second. Nothing had ever felt as right and as real, but will their careers tear them apart? I highly recommend this new addition to Lorelei James's Blacktop Cowboys series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend starting at the beginning. They're all great!

Liberty Masterson didn't have the easiest transition from solider to civilian but things have gotten better since she got a job with a Denver security company. Liberty is itching to get out into the field and show her boss what she can do it she never expected her first assignment to be sexy country singer Devin McClain. Devin is the worst kind of client: one that doesn't want to be protected and doesn't think he needs private security and Liberty has her hands full trying to convince him she can protect him even though she's a woman. Now living together on a tour bus for the next four months Liberty starts to wonder if she needs protection from Devin and his sexy smiles.
Devin McClain knows some weird stuff has happened but he is sure he doesn't need protection, especially from a woman like Liberty who gets under his skin. For some reason Devin finds himself opening up to Liberty about his past and family secrets and he soon starts to view Liberty in a different light. The more time Devin spends with Liberty the more he wants to stop pretending she's his personal assistant/girl friend and make her his woman for real. Devin must decide if he can let Liberty protect him and still give her his heart or lose her forever.
I love the Blacktop Cowboys series and once again Lorelie James delivers a great addition. I was very excited to see how in the world Liberty and Devin were going to get together and fall for one another. I really liked them both in the previous books and it was fun to see the interact with previous couples in the series and get to catch up on their lives. I wish that there could have been more time spent in Muddy Gap, mostly so we could have more time with the hilarious Pearl and the rest of her group.
I was very intrigued with the idea of a woman protecting a man and I thought this part was told wonderfully. Liberty is so strong and can puts on a good show of not caring about much hut it was nice to see that she is actually sensitive and self conscious. I liked Devin but there were a lot of times I felt that he was a jerk and needed an attitude adjustment. I didn't like that Liberty had to change her look and when she did Devin finally admitted he was attracted to her. Devin did end up redeeming himself but it took a very long time.
Lorelie James is a master of writing sexy cowboys and the strong women who love them. I can't wait for the next book in this series even though I have no idea who's story is up next. I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning just so you have the backstory of everyone you will meet.

Title: Hillbilly Rockstar
Series: Blacktop Cowboys Book #6
Author: Lorelei James
Genre: Contemporary
Blurb: She's protecting his body and guarding her heart....Country music star Devin McClain understands there's a downside to life in the public eye, but the laidback Wyoming cowboy has never imagined he'd attract crazed fans who would do anything to garner his attention. When veiled threats become real, he agrees to hire a discreet security detail. But Devin is shocked when that bodyguard is a hard-bodied woman. He's even more stunned to be attracted to the steely-eyed stunner. Former soldier Liberty Masterson's return to civilian life has been fraught with challenges until she lands a job with a prestigious security firm. But when she agrees to provide personal protection during a cross-country tour, she doesn't realize she has signed up to masquerade as the playboy star's girlfriend. Though she's more comfortable in combat boots than high heels, she has no choice but to appear to be the sexy groupie Devin prefers. Living in close quarters causes the chemistry between them to ignite, and Devin realizes he wants to turn their charade of a romance into reality. Although Liberty surrenders to his every whim behind closed doors, she fears the sexy country star doesn't see the real her; and Devin can't help but worry when the tour ends that there might not be enough between them to build something that won't fade away....
Thoughts: Hillbilly Rockstar was simply amazing! The intricacies in the relationship between Devin and Liberty really fueled this book....it was joy to read how they went from strangers to lovers....and then to more. It was honestly a compelling read.
Devin doesn't want a bodyguard. Unfortunately, threats make that impossible, and he has no choice. However, he can make some stipulations - and he doesn't want a bunch of thugs drawing attention to his situation. So everyone decides that Liberty would be the perfect choice - she can pretend to be his 'groupie girlfriend'. Of course, fitting herself into the role will require a bit of a makeover.....but it's well worth it to see the look on his face when he sees the 'new' Liberty! And that makeover changes everything. But will everything fall apart when the tour ends?
Another hit for Lorelei James...Reading how their relationship rapidly unfolds made for a page-turning hit with me! And it's a pretty sure bet that it will be for you to!

I really enjoyed reading Hillbilly Rockstar, it was very hard for me to put the book down and not keep reading instead of sleeping.
Hillbilly Rockstar is book #6 in the Blacktop Cowboy series and it's my favorite in the series so far!
Devin McClain and Liberty Masterson are so very different from one another and during the first few chapters I wasn't sure how they'll end up together but very soon I realized how perfect they are together.
Both of them have to deal with issues from their past and try to overcome them in order to have a real and honest relationship.
I loved reading about Liberty, she was a strong heroine that wasn't willing to treat Devis like a star and she took her job very seriously. I loved how Liberty was able to open up and tell Devis things she never told anyone, not even her sisters and the fact that Devin was able to confine in her as well and tell her about the death of his younger sister showed that they had much more than just sex between them.
Hillbilly Rockstar is a super sexy read, funny and full of emotions that I highly recommend reading!
It was fun getting to catch up with characters from previous books in the series and I can't wait to read more books in this great series.

: 4.25 stars:HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR is the sixth instalment in Lorelei James’s adult, contemporary Blacktop Cowboy erotic romance series focusing on a group of friends and family from Wyoming. This is country music superstar Devin McClain and former soldier now bodyguard Liberty Masterson’s storyline. Although this is the sixth book in the series it can be read as a stand alone without any problems. A few of the previous storyline characters make a cameo appearance but their history is not necessary to the enjoyment of the story.
The focus of the story are the threats against musician Devin McClain. Following the near fatal beating of his tour bus driver, Devin’s production team higher a bodyguard who must stick by Devin 24/7. What Devin doesn’t expect is hard nosed, former soldier Liberty Masterson –his home town friend’s sister in law and a woman in whom he has no sexual interest. Liberty is a take no prisoners kind of bodyguard. She has been hired to guard and protect Devin McClain but life on the road is difficult when groupies, wanna-bes and fans surround Devin at every opportunity.
As the storyline develops, so too does the relationship between Devin and Liberty. When Liberty is required to pose as Devin’s new personal assistant, it doesn’t take long before our couple develop feelings for one another. The sex scenes are hot, sensual and erotic. Nothing is off limits and Devin likes to spice up their sex life at every opportunity.
The secondary characters include the members of the band, as well as the roadies, tour bus operators and some fans. We get up close and personal with Liberty’s extended family; the band; and anyone who has anything to do with the security team assigned to protect the country star.
Lorelei James takes the reader behind the scenes and onto the tour bus of the rich and famous of country music. The world building connects opening acts with the main attraction; friendships develop and relationships heal. The storyline energy builds throughout the novel where there are intense moments of anger, betrayal, heartbreak and love. HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR is a passionate look at two people from different worlds who find one another at a dangerous time in both of their lives.

I vaguely remember Liberty and Devin from other stories, but they had very small parts. Liberty left town for military service leaving her sisters, Harper and Bailey behind. Their mom left them for another man---story of her life. Devin showed to get his famous hands dirty from time to time or his manwhore ways was discussed by his buds. This novel is their story about how they found themselves and each other. Life is good when they have each other to share their deepest secrets and regrets. James includes suspense to amp up the drama for these two, which could keep them together or tear them apart. We get a bird's eye view of the touring life and catch up with some familiar faces on the home front. There's no question that they love each other, but how will they make it work--- Devin is on the road and Liberty longs to put down permanent roots. Wasn't sure I would like this one because it's removed from the ranching life, but I really enjoyed it. This is a Lorelei James book so expect plain talking, explicit sex and language, plus lots of humor. I want more, please.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Vivacious Valkyrie - Marta:

--Actual rating 4.5 Skulls
Devin is quite guarded emotionally, and indeed he's had really bad experiences in the past but his journey with Liberty is filled with heart. I was so busy being engulfed by the white hot passion between these two that I hadn't expected the author to cause me to tear up with just a few sentences during a beach scene. No spoilers here, but to go from erotic scenes to pure emotion so easily is an amazing talent and I applaud Ms James for such a fantastic piece of writing.
Filled with lots of hot sex (maybe not for the faint of heart) but if you are broad minded and want a story that will pull you in then this book delivers, big time!

I loved Hillbilly Rockstar! Not only is the writing solid, the characters are real. Having read everything Lorelei James has available, I am familiar with her writing style and always enjoy her stories. Miss James has stepped up her game with Hillbilly Rockstar. Seriously, above and beyond!
Country music star Devin McClain has it all – good looks, talent, money, endless supply of women who throw themselves at him. When threats start hitting too close to home, security is beefed up.
Liberty Masterson is ex-army, compassionate, beautiful, funny and tough as nails. When she becomes Devin’s bodyguard, she (and he!) gets more than they bargained for.
Together they face zealous fans, crazy protestors and each other.
The life a country music star isn’t always what it seems. Devin will surprise you. He will melt your heart, make you fall in love and swoon like a school girl. Liberty has served in the army and has her own set of demons to work through. She calls it likes she sees it. Devin needs someone to stand up to him. Not because he’s a diva, but because that’s how the nature of the business has become. Old wounds open as new wounds are made.
Both have healing to do. Both have growing to do. Their friendship is real. What they find in each other is better than any other relationship they have ever had. Hillbilly Rockstar is a story of friendship, compromise, trust and love. I fell in love with these fantastic characters. Two of the best I have read lately.
Hillbilly Rockstar is hands down the best book in Lorelei’s Blacktop Cowboy Series (and I have loved them all!)! While these books can be read as standalones, as the series-gal that I am, I recommend starting with book one. It’s the best ways to learn the intricacies of the characters in all of the books.
Thank you, Miss James for another fantastic ride along the blacktop!

Devin McClain is a sexy and talented heartthrob, at the top of his game as a country superstar. He's also generous, caring, and down-to-earth, having done his time and paid his dues to get to where he is. But fame doesn't come without its share of crazy, and someone is gunning for Devin in a big way. When his bus driver is badly beaten, the powers that be decide that it's time to call in the experts, and look outside the tour for extra security.
Liberty Masterson has been to hell and back, and she has the scars to prove it. Following a career in the military, reentry into civilian life has not been easy, but she has finally found her place as a security specialist. When she is tapped to guard Devin on his current tour, she thinks that she will be doing nothing more than babysitting a spoiled musician. Close quarters and a strong attraction soon having her revising her opinion.
I could not have loved this book any more. Lorelei has written a beautiful and sexy story that I could not put down until I'd finished. Watching Devin and Liberty navigate their relationship, seeing them grow to love each other, sometimes against their will, made for the best kind of love story. As each of them learned to accept things about themselves, and grow because of it, they became more free to be what the other needed. And, just so there's no confusion, this book is off-the-charts hot. One of the things that I loved best about Devin and Liberty is that they both know exactly what they want from each other when it comes to sexy time, and they spend plenty of time enjoying it.
'Hillbilly Rockstar' is the first book that I have read by Lorelei, but it certainly will not be the last. This is truly a 6-star read for me, and I obviously could not recommend it more.

Lorelei James has done it again. A smoking hot singer and a headstrong bodyguard make for one hot read. The dynamics between Devin and Liberty are not for the faint of heart. Cocky country singer Devin thinks he doesn't need a bodyguard. Despite the attempts on his life, he feels his life is fine the way it is. That is until Liberty walks into his life. After years in the military, Liberty is back home with nothing to blow up. Offered a job protecting the cocky singer is a challenge she cant pass up. Between the attacks, the touring schedule, and her view on his playboy attitude, Liberty knows she can avoid his good looks and charm. Lorelei James' Blacktop Cowboys are a breed all their own. Once again, she brings all the hot cowboys and laughter in one book. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it. Hell, I'd recommend it to someone even if they already have. Absolutely loved this book. Must read!

Liberty Masterson has been army strong for the last 12 years, but because she got injured she also got released from work she loved doing. Now that she's working in private security will she always have to deal with guys like Devin McClain who thinks that she looks like she prefers women to men....Devin is not happy with the whole idea of needing a body guard and the last thing he wants is for people to find out he's being protected by a woman with everything that goes on, on his tour he learns a lot about Liberty and even more about himself, but at the end of the day what's going to become of the two of them....Oh My Gawd!!!! I loved this story and how he was reminded time and time again what an @$$ he was the first time they met....onto the next

Lorelei James always delivers when it comes to her cowboys. Hillbilly Rockstar was an exciting sexy romance with just the right amount of drama in the mix. She constantly keeps us on our toes with these gorgeous, witty, stubborn men. And I am in constant awe with these headstrong women that keep these men in line. Once again, Ms. James knows what her readers want, and once again, she delivers tenfold.
❝I’m not paid to kiss your **s; I’m paid to protect it.❞
Devin McClain is the HOTTEST country singer out there. With the fame, comes a price. People want you, people want to be you, and people will do crazy things to get close to you. Even with all the craziness that fame brings, Devin never backs down. He is in this for the music. He has worked so hard to get where he is today, and he is not going to let ANYONE take that away from him. When an attack that was meant for him, puts someone else in danger, he realizes he needs extra security. With this extra security comes a certain lack of privacy that Devin is used to. But just like everything else, he powers through, and does what is best for continuing his dream.
Enter Liberty Masterson…
❝Stop with the no, sir bull****. We both know that sarcastic sir is your verbal shorthand for ***hole.❞
Liberty is a former soldier, who has been honorably discharged from the service. She is a badass woman, who is not afraid to speak her mind. She is Oil to Devin’s Water in every way possible. When she agrees to be the bodyguard of the famous Devin McClain, she thought she knew what she was in for, but she was wrong. Putting away her security garb, in exchange for cute dresses and high heels to keep her cover as Devin’s girlfriend, she starts the grueling process of protecting this famous jackass. Who knew that being in such close quarters with this infuriating man, the chemistry that was once full of annoyance and disdain, has grown to something more, something sensual, and powerful, something that can no longer be denied.
❝You’re the only woman I want. You’re the only ****ing woman I see whether we’re in a room with a thousand people or when we’re alone.❞
Passion ignites between the two, but there is still a danger lurking near. Devin and Liberty will have to both learn how to let go of their control, and to open up their wary hearts to each other in order to find love.
Hillbilly Rockstar is full of mystery, suspense, sexiness, and intensity. In true Lorelei James fashion, the sex scenes are full of kinky goodness and are always sensually erotic. You not only get the scorching love scenes, but you get a story full of emotion and heart, and it will take you along the journey with these wonderful characters. Hillbilly Rockstar can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the entire Blacktop Cowboys series. Lorelei James is a fantastic writer who knows her sexy alpha cowboys. You will not want to miss meeting any of these amazing characters.

This book like so many others in the series grabs you from the start and doesn't let go until you're done. And even then, you don't want it to be over.
Devin and Liberty make a great team. Their characters are so perfect for each other. When I first found out they were to be paired I wondered about them but the way they meet, start working together, and then become friends, trying to fight off the attraction... it was just magical. I loved every minute of their journey. I cried, laughed, and fanned myself. It was really hot, maybe one of the hottest couples in the series.
I wait for this book was long because I wanted it so bad. Hillbilly Rockstar was everything I wanted it to be and more.

Liberty and Devin have been seen throughout the series and I was thrilled to not only see they would be getting a book, but would be paired together. Opposites attract is a winning trope for me and Liberty and Devin couldn’t be more opposite…or so you think. James does a fabulous job of setting up our hero and heroine, revealing their personalities and their back stories, taking a considerable amount of time letting us get to know them and see the extreme differences between them. Cut throat misconceptions set the stage for a prickly beginning but as the story progresses, James slowly cuts through the artifice and we begin to see that our protagonists are indeed perfect for one another.
Heavy steamy chemistry will keep you enthralled as our couple takes their relationship from professional to personal. A strong sexual connection develops between them, allowing them both to push aside their differences and focus on each other. One constant I like about James’s writing is she celebrates her characters sexuality. No slut shaming or embarrassment for their wants and desires. In a world where we seem to be heading towards a Puritan state of mind, it’s always refreshing to see two adults engage in a sexual relationship that isn’t forced, coerced, or used as a cure for some previous trauma. The physical scenes are very well done with explicit detailing and a heavy dose of erotic fun and romance.
The main conflict is a mixture of past and present, building a solid storyline. James addresses issues and creates an engaging read that fills you with strong emotions as you watch Liberty and Devin work to build a time sustaining relationship that will last past the tour. James writes with such intimacy that we are instantly drawn into their lives. Multiple subplots intertwined with the romance. Emotions run the gauntlet as old wounds are reopened and allowed to heal.
Dynamic secondary characters add even more flavor and depth to the story as we get a behind the scenes look at what is all involved in touring with a major music star. Subplots involving family and friends show a prime need for communication. Getting involved with the other band members and roadies shows us this lifestyle isn’t for the faint of heart. I enjoyed seeing old faces from previous books and see what they have been up to.
I did feel the main conflict wasn’t as developed as it could have been and was overwhelmed by the romance. Plus, while I enjoyed the slow ride of Liberty and Devin’s romance, at times Liberty’s stubbornness became a hindrance. Regardless, this series continues to entertain and I recommend it to everyone who wants an erotic romantic contemporary series with realistic characters, emotional romances, strong friendships, and interesting lives that will keep you waiting for each installment. Even though each book in the series can be read as a standalone; some characters and situations bleed over.
