It was like reading in a circle. The same things kept happening, just with different people...fight, hunt, be betrayed, fight, hunt, be betrayed. Trust someone a little, only to find out they were working for the bad guys. The book ended where it started...her father getting away with her son AGAIN. I mean HOW many times can you fight and have the same ending? Seriously, it was ridiculous. Her father kept getting the kid back...EVERY single time, no matter how many times he escaped. I'm finished with the series.

Blood of a Phoenix -- Shannon Mayer

I love, love , love these full length books that start right up where the last one left off! Nothing wrong with a cliff hanger and for the price, I get a full book in this trilogy with an amazing story that continues! I am struggling to find words to describe how much I love this series - I really love each facet of the characters in this series, from Phoenix herself, Eleanor and Dinah, Killian, Bear, Linx...there really is no end to the depth of them and each one brings so much to the table! This is such a great series and I can’t recommend it enough!!! Once again, I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but have already ordered them!

This series just keeps getting better. Nix is an absolute wonder to read about. No matter what is thrown at her, who betrays her, what she learns, she keeps going on. She is getting closer to her son and nothing is going to stand in her way. She finds a few unlikely allies to help her on the way, and loses a few along the way too. She learns a little more about herself and her family, some good and some bad. There are so many unknown supernaturals and abominations that I don't know where Shannon Mayer can come up with them from. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next in the series.
The Hammer and the Blade: An Egil & Nix Novel :: Skyborn (Dragons and Druids Book 1) :: Understanding the World of Earthbound Spirits - When Ghosts Speak :: Earth Bound (Sea Haven-Sisters of the Heart Book 4) :: Rise of a Phoenix (The Nix Series Book 3)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Nix has definitely become my favorite character that Mayer had written. She's tough. She's brutal. She's strong. But she still loves. She's pretty much the embodiment of what you think a super hero mother would be.

There was plenty of fighting, mystery, action in this book--just like Mayer's other books. But, this one actually had a couple parts that surprised me. Nix both acquires some new allies, and loses some fake allies along the way.

I'm excited to see where book 3 takes Nix!

I fell in love with this author reading the Rylee Adamson series. As amazing as that series is,this one is better. I didn't think she could top that character, but,she did. There are inconsistencies in Nix's character, but, I think it makes her more believable. She knows if anyone is lying, but she couldn't tell her husband was. How many times have I or other strong, smart women fallen for a man's lies? All day. Every day. So, I love, love this series. Also, I usually hate 2 POV books, but it works here.

I really loved this book, even more than the first. It explains more about Phoenix, Dinah and Eleanor, her father, and other things that would give too many spoilers. But it's an excellent second book to the trilogy. A LOT of things happen in this one!! It keeps the reader wanting more, to find out what happens next, then you're left cheering for the good guys or crying for the good guys, depending on the circumstances. But cheer and cry you will

I frequently read her books, as she consistently delivers a "great escape" I found myself looking for more when this action packed hit ended much too soon. I love bad ass heroines but having one who's able to maintain the innate love of a mother for her child is even better. There are twists and turns; the inevitable deaths (too many,) lots of action, a hint of romance and lots of bad guys - great overall. Eagerly anticipating the final installment.

I absolutely loved 'Blood of a Phoenix'! I love how passionate Nix is in her beliefs and her mission to find the answers she is looking for. She is relatable and admirable. The trials she has to face with other characters, and within are both enthralling and inspiring. I love how many of the characters have developed as well as their relationship with Nix. I am eagerly awaiting the third installment to see what Mayer has in store for Nix.

Just when you thought you knew Phoenix you realize you dont. This series is amazing. Phoenix is trying to get revenge on her family for their role in destroying her life she had made for herself but keeps getting thrown new road blocks and detours. I can't wait to see this series to the end. If you like passion, drama magic and suspense this series is for you.

I absolutely love this series! I have read pretty much all of this author's books, and I have to say this is a tie for me with the Rylee books! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed! I also loved how long it was but it did not seem like it had any filler to it. It's like watching one of those 3 hour movies that is so good it's over before you know it! Can't wait for the next one to see how it all plays out!

This series gets better each book I read. The main character, Phoenix is a force to reckoned with in her quest to get her son back from the father she hates. Friends who help her betray her; unexpected friends become allies. She comes into her unknown power source and so does her son.

I love everything Shannon writes and her latest work is just plain AWESOME!! If you loved Fury, you will love Blood!! Nix is one super strong, kick-a woman who does not mess around. Another addition, you get to hear more from Bear and meet more of her family. She is a force to be reckoned with and this second book in the Nix trilogy does not disappoint.

This is the continuation of the Phoenix series and it is awesome. We see more of her revenge action and it is awesome. A mothers vengeance is not to be played with. We see more of her background and what makes her who she is which is wonderful. Go read it and you will not regret it. You'll feel anger, sadness, joy, and everything in between.

If you are thinking of reading this series, you should definitely start with the first book.

I read A TON of books and not many get a five star rating. In this case, it is TRULY deserving of all five, possibly even six!

Cannot wait for the third and final book to release!
