Brent.
We all remember him from the previous books. He's best friends and business-partners with Jake, Sofia & Stanton.
They started their own law firm at the end of the last book: Becker, Mason, Santos & Shaw
Now it's about two years later and it's finally time for commitment-phobe Brent to find his Happy-Ever-After.
And he'll (hopefully) find that with Kennedy.
She was the girl next door - and those were both huge doors. Both Kennedy and Brent come from very rich families.
They used to be best friends until they weren't anymore.
One day she just left and he hasn't seen her for 14 years!
Now she's back - and she's an attorney too - the one trying to send his clients into jail!

Lots of funny and sexy action in and out of the court-room until the two of them will find their Happy End......

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO Kennedy & Brent???
WILL THE TWO OF THEM get their second chance for a HEA???
WILL THERE BE A HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER?
I'm not telling you that '
Ok - no Cliffhanger of course!

I really enjoyed this book.
And I loved that we got to see our darlings from books #1 & #2 again! '

Did I love the book? And does it deserve my 5 Stars?
Yes, your Honor, I did and it does! '

I especially love how Emma always tells her book from the males' POV.
And Brent is such an amazing male!!!! Phew.
I really loved Brent - and Kennedy too - she wasn't one of those annoying female characters. The ones who come off too feminist and strong, but just end up being annoying. Kennedy is so adorable - she IS this strong lawyer, but she's also still that kid that nobody liked in school.
And I love how Brent tells us that he DID like her - especially once she grew some boobs!!!
He's such an adorable guy. So funny and cute and good.
After what he went through as a kid, with his leg - and losing the love of his life, without knowing that Kennedy was that love of his life back then.
I cried a lot while reading!!! (There might even be some slightly suspensy moments!!!)
And of course we have LOTS of sexy moments too!!!!

I just LOVED this book - so sad that this was the last one in the series!!
But maybe we'll get to hear about future superhero Navy SEALs and cowboys and knights and princes one day!

'' SUSTAINED was an extremely adorable, moving, funny and sexy second chance Romance!!!
GO & one-click yourself some Brent NOW!!!!! ''

Can't wait for whatever Emma will bring us next '

This book broke my heart! I immediately fell in love with Jenny's character and was so sent on Stanton fighting to get her back. When he showed up at Sofia's door step asking her to help him I immediately put the book down and couldn't bring myself to finish it. I did not like Sofia's character at all.

I loved Appealed; it was my favorite book of this series and I should add it can easily be read as a stand alone.
This book has such a range of emotions, one of them being humor, and I often think humor is one of the hardest things to pull off in a book so hats off to Ms. Chase. I have now come to count on Ms. Chase for both humor and epic male POV! This book delivers both in spades!

I named Appealed in my Top List of 2015 and I have to say I think Brent is my new favorite Emma Chase character. Why you ask… how could someone replace Drew? Well, Brent knew what he wanted and he wanted Kennedy. I am sucker for a man who knows what he wants and goes after it full force!

Please note some of this review is different than the longer one on our site as to make it fit standards here

Brent made me smile so many times in this book!

As I said I adored that Brent knew what he wanted and that he went after it. Since Brent and Kennedy have “history” (one that I won’t ruin as it is best discovered by reading the book) his patience with her was so perfect and made me love him even more!

"What'd you do to your face?" she asks, folding her arms.
I touched my chin. "I grew a beard."

Toward the end of this book, Brent works very hard to make right some of the wrongs done to Kennedy. OMG this made me love the man that much more.

Yes, these two have hurt in the past but with lines like this from Brent how could Kennedy not give in:
"I didn't want your friendship. Kennedy - I wanted you. And if I couldn't have you - I had to present you didn't exist. Because then I could tell myself I wasn’t missing out on everything I knew I was."

The epilogue to this book was such an amazing end to a wonderful series; truly an adorable (yes adorable) voice to hear from; I was grinning from ear to ear!

I have to say I am sad this series has come to an end as I adore these lawyers (and who thought they would ever say that)

I seriously love this series. I love Emma Chase’s hilarious writing but I also have fallen in love with these characters so I just wanted to start off saying that I really enjoyed visiting with the characters from the first couple of books in this series and seeing where they are now. But the main reason why I REALLY loved Appealed is because it is a second chance romance and I am super big time sucker for these types of stories.

“I’m not going to let us fall this time, Kennedy.”

Why do I love these types of books, you ask. Because they are usually chock full of misunderstandings and angst from the past that is still hanging around making things hard and awkward. And that my friends is how I like books. Angsty and hard won love affairs are the very best and this one was pretty point on. Even though it was loaded with all the resentment and feels of a second chance romance it was also so darn funny in that special Emma Chase way.

“What’d you do to your face?”
“I grew a beard.”
“Well, ungrow it. It looks like vagina from a 1970s porn film.”

Also, let’s not forget that Brent is a disabled man and this chicky happens to have a thing for a book boyfriend with disabilities. I mean, its kinda hot to be alpha with only one leg, ya know. ? Also Kennedy has zero effs to give about his lack of leg and always gives as good as she gets, never feeling bad for him and always coming with the snarkiness which just made me love her!

For all its humor and sarcasm, Appealed still gave me ALL. THE. FEELS. And I just fell in love with Kennedy and Brent falling in love again. Great story and addition to the series!

“I don’t think, ‘Oh, Brent is so strong,’ even though you are. I don’t think, ‘He’s survived so much,’ even though you have.” “I just think – perfect. You’re. . . perfect.”

Emma Chase is a wiz at writing romances involving strong, independent, intelligent heroines and the playboy heroes who they ultimately bring to their knees (Kate and Drew anyone?). Appealed brings back to the forefront this romantic plot line with an extra, 2nd chance at love twist. This of course means that readers will once again get to revel in plenty of witty banter as the heroine and hero fight that inevitable dance towards their HEA. As always, reading an Emma Chase romance is effortless, and immensely entertaining, as the pages practically turn themselves!

When Brent Mason (a partner at the law firm that Stanton and Sofia, from book 1 of the Legal Briefs Series, and Jake, from book 2, are partners at) lays eyes on Kennedy Randolph again, after many years apart, he knows one thing: Kennedy is not the same girl who grew up next door and was his best friend. Gone is the awkward but smart, nice girl who captured his attention all those years ago. In her place is a sexy and confident, if somewhat of a ballbreaker, tough as nails prosecutor and she has her eyes set on making Brent pay.

For what, Brent cannot be totally sure, but the one thing he does know, is that he definitely wants to make Kennedy his. Having previously faced incredible challenges, like overcoming an accident in which he lost his leg as a child, he is a man who is not accustomed to hearing no, or being deterred from working hard for the things he wants, and conquering Kennedy will be no different, or will it?

Further adding fuel to the fire that will either envelope Brent and Kennedy and guarantee their union or completely destroy them is an all star cast, that includes one very meddlesome mother, who happens to be best friends with the mother of the other, a politician who has his eyes set on the picture perfect political mate, and an insightful therapist among others. This interesting secondary cast of characters, in addition to cameos from the characters of the prior books in the Legal Briefs Series, further round out this story ensuring that there is a little bit of something for everyone.

I can't wait to read more of Emma Chase's witty romantic comedies in the future!

I'm not gonna lie. I pretty much love everything that Emma Chase writes. The lady can do no wrong in my eyes. I have loved this series from the beginning and I knew I was going to love Brent's story.

This is one of those stories where the male and female knew each other in the past and something went terribly wrong (pronounced "misunderstandings") and now they are reacquainting themselves. I guess you would call it a second chance romance. I loved it.

I loved Brent's cockiness and ego. I really did!!! He's a successful lawyer from a well-to-do family. Notwithstanding a terrible accident as a child his ego does not suffer because of it. I also really liked Kennedy. Once we got her story I could forgive all of her courtroom antics. She had every reason to be angry with Brent (because of the "misunderstandings"). Kennedy is also a successful prosecutor and lets Brent have it in the courtroom. They each have suffered a broken heart and now Brent is trying really hard to right past wrongs.

Another thing I loved was catching up with the other characters from the previous books in this series and seeing how their lives have progressed. [Note: Jake is my favourite!]

Aside from her great story telling abilities, Emma Chase writes the best male point of view. She does it with great humour. She may have been a guy in a previous life.

And since I'm going on and on about all the things that I loved about this book I'm going to throw in that this book had the best Twilight references ever! [Note: Yes I love Twilight and I love cats. You'll see what I mean when you read this.] And what a great epilogue!

I gave Appealed five satisfying and delicious cups of coffee to warm you on a chilly day like today. I most definitely look forward to more from Emma Chase in the future.

4.5+ stars

Brent Mason is the last single man standing in his group of friends from his law firm. He's a wealthy playboy and seems to be fairly easy going and in good humor. But underneath he has hidden issues.

He meets his match...or re-meets her...when Kennedy Randolph returns to town, His previous best friend who disappeared and now seems to hate him. And now they are on opposing sides of the courtroom. Their antagonistic banter is fun, fiery, and a bit frantic laced with barely hidden heat and desire.

Brent has always been popular and well liked. He thought he was happy living his free, easy life without commitments, but deep down he was unsettled. He tends to avoid intimacy and deflect with humor. He's funny, protective, caring, easy going, but can be aggressive when needed. He usually does not let the fact that he has a lower limb amputation get him down, but it still causes hidden insecurities at times.

Kennedy is smart, sarcastic, fierce, and even vengeful. She was the young nerd who turned into a tough bombshell. She has been hurt in the past and has trust issues and insecurities. Now she likes to be in control and in charge and she is one tough customer in the courtroom.

They are affected by miscommunication, secrets, misconceptions, and baggage between them. She's got reason to be hurt and angry and so does he. Their pasts haunt them, and they both have suffered loss and disappointment. She especially was left damaged and with trust issues. Their jobs and current case add more complications.

But Oh, the sexual tension, chemistry, and hotness factor between these two! There is a lot of fussing, fighting, fretting, and f***ing. They find themselves caught up in lust, old feelings, past hurts, and trying to navigate it all. I loved them together. They had history, a connection, and compatibility. But they were also both strong-willed, stubborn, fearful, and vulnerable. They also have to deal with work issues that cause tension and could have even further dangerous implications.

I enjoyed spending time more time with Stanton and Sofia (Overruled) and Jake, Chelsea and the kids (Sustained). I loved that Brent has the coolest young butler ever named Harrison. I cracked up with all of the family and friends meddling. This was a great combination of friend to enemies to lovers, and a second chance love story set in the background of law. It was funny, feisty, steamy, sweet, swoony, and emotional. It was told in Brent's unfiltered point of view and I totally adored him. I have really enjoyed this series and the special extra epilogue just left an even bigger smile on my face.

Emma Chase’s Legal Briefs series has been fun, full of humor, steamy and full of heart. Appealed was a fantastic way to conclude this wonderful series. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again- Emma Chase writes the male POV like no other author. She excels at it. Appealed is written completely from Brent’s perspective and I couldn't be happier about that.

Brent and Kennedy’s story starts much earlier than when they find themselves together, against one another in court. They used to be best friends when they were younger. Things happened. They lost touch. But one thing is for certain. Brent never forgot about Kennedy. She has always been there, in his mind and in his heart. He may have had many others in his bed while she’s not been around, but he’s never let anyone else in.

Both of these attorneys are too stubborn for their own good in court, and Kennedy is even more stubborn out of court. At first, it irked me a bit. Then I found out what had happened to her in the past and found myself more understanding and sympathetic. Kennedy is a strong heroine. Chase has a knack for writing strong and successful women and I like that. They all have careers and back bones. None of them take crap and they don’t let anyone make their decisions for them.

Kennedy and Brent’s relationship goes through many stages. At first, we have the past. They were friends, but it went a little deeper. Then, when they first saw each other after all that time. They were more frenemies. They they became actual friends again. And the sexual tension between them was off the charts! Brent and Kennedy are explosive together. Brent wants so much more with Kennedy than just sex, and that is not normal for him. He just has to convince her how good they could really be together.

Brent is an endearing, interesting and fun character. I loved being in his head. Spending time with his therapist, his butler etc, I couldn’t keep the smile off my face. I just adored him. Kennedy was pretty great overall as well. There were moments (especially with that court case) that made me not love her 100% but by the end I did. She won me over. This part here… I know she’s a female, but it was such a swoony line!

The back and forth banter between Kennedy and Brent, the heat and tension, and the love- it made for a wonderful story. And don’t even get me started on that epilogue! It pretty much made the book for me! Emma Chase’s final installment of the Legal Briefs series is witty, fun, charming and sexy. A solid 4.5 stars for me and one I highly recommend!

Please note this review may contain spoilers.

Brent and Kennedy were childhood friends that at one stage could have been more, but that possibility was shot down in flames a long time ago. Brent is now a very successful Defense Attorney, currently defending a young man with the hopes of getting a plea deal that will see his client not serve any time in jail. But Kennedy is the Federal Prosecutor on the case. She never makes plea deals and she never loses, and she certainly won't back down just because Brent wants her to. These two will need to battle it out in the courtroom...and out of it.

I loved Brent, who is your classic lifelong bachelor. He's happy with having an endless supply of women and being able to do what he wants, when he wants. He has no plans to be tied down, so you just know that he's going to fall and fall hard when Kennedy re-appears in his life. APPEALED is told in his POV and it's absolutely hilarious to read. His interactions with Kennedy, his therapist and his co-workers are sarcastic, clever and funny. But what I liked most about Brent is that when he needed to apologise, he did. He didn't make some over-the-top gesture. He didn't make Kennedy wait for weeks/months for an apology. He manned up and issued a heartfelt apology. Simple, but oh so effective. Kennedy is a strong and likeable woman, but events from her past have hardened her heart, to the point she's almost ferocious. As a Prosecutor, she's determined to make all the bad people pay, perhaps in retribution for those that hurt her growing up. She was one tough cookie for Brent to crack, that's for sure.

APPEALED was another great read from Emma Chase's Legal Briefs series that can be read as a stand-alone. This is the third book I've read from Emma Chase and I've found that she does a really good job writing characters that are likeable, relatable and funny. Apart from a couple of scenes where things get serious, APPEALED is a light read that you'll enjoy from beginning to end.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, let’s talk about book love, no series love, because I have absolutely loved every book in this series. Appealed is no exception, in my opinion it’s funnier, sexier and absolutely addicting!

For those who have not started this series, I will give you a little background info. Brent is a lawyer and started his own practice with his friends: Sophie, Stanton and Jake. We met them in Overruled and Sustained. Throughout the series I have looked forward to this book. I desperately wanted to know Brent. He was always fun, light hearted and a bit of a man whore, my favorite type of hero.

Brent is at a birthday party at his mother’s request when he is distracted by a beautiful blonde. To his surprise the beauty is Kennedy, his childhood best friend. First, I love plot. I love that they were best friends and grew apart. I am not a fan of second chance romances, I struggle with the reasons for why the couple is separated and usually have difficulty buying into the reason they were not together. That’s why I absolutely adored this book! I loved how they were childhood friends, had one night where they thought it might go further. I could absolutely understand and get their pasts.

Brent and Kennedy’s reconnection starts off rocky, but I loved it. Kennedy, also a lawyer, is Brent’s opponent. The two have to argue against each other. The build up and sexual tension was hot and at times laugh out loud funny. Chase knows how to write funny and these scenes are some of my favorite.

As funny as Appealed is, it’s equal parts swoon worthy and romantic. I completely bought into these two's story. I loved how Brent wasn’t going to take no for an answer. I loved how he was a little dominating and whole lot sexy.

I can’t recommend this series enough and especially Appealed! This one is my favorite, which is a huge deal because I didn’t think anyone could top Jake. There was just something more about Brent. I loved how he had a heart of gold, a dirty mouth and was willing to do anything. If I created the perfect hero he would be Brent Mason. Long story short, read this book, meet Brent and fall in love!

I enjoyed Overruled and Sustained, the first two books in Emma Chase's Legal Brief series, so I wanted to give the final book in the trilogy a try. While it certainly offered the same steam factor as the previous books, the plot was too generic and full of cliches that didn't go any place new.

APPEALED is a hybrid of a hate-to-love story and second-chance romance. Brent and Kennedy grew up together as best friends. But a misunderstanding puts an end to their love story before it even began. Nearly fifteen years later, the two collide in the courtroom on opposite sides of a criminal trial. Kennedy is the vicious federal prosecutor who has a bone to pick with the guy who broke her heart. Brent is the cocky ladies man, shocked to see the girl who stole his heart years ago and never gave it back.

I got excited about this novel in the beginning because I love both of the aforementioned tropes employed in this novel. The combination of both of those is almost always entertaining and sure to deliver a good amount of angst. I liked the novel in the beginning but then it went downhill from there.

Some of the sexy dialogue in this novel is cringeworthy. At one point, Brent tells Kennedy to pinch her nip***s "like it's her job" and then later they shower together with him cleaning all her "nooks and crannies." Gross, seriously. Both of those things were the proverbial cold bucket of water on a steamy moment, killing the mood.

As a lawyer myself, some of Brent and Kennedy's court antics would never fly in even with most patient and kindest judges. I'm willing to let some of the unbelievability go, but like I've said in many reviews, there needs to be a thread of believability or I'm taken completely out of the story.

This novel would have benefitted from more originality and character development and less reliance on cliched character traits and plot devices. All elements of this book felt didn't feel like anything I haven't read before. This combined with the novel's rather ridiculous conclusion—Brent using his family's money and connections to meet up with a mob boss and make a deal with him not to come after the woman he loves was just too much—made the story a flop for me. I've enjoyed some of her other novels but this one missed the mark entirely.

I should've written this review weeks ago. I just couldn't bring myself to say goodbye to this series and these characters quite yet. In fact, when I picked up my iPad and started looking at my highlights to find my favorite quotes, I ended up rereading the book from cover to cover again. I couldn't stop once I so much as glanced at any of the words.

Much like its predecessor Sustained, this book was delightful. It was emotional, sexy and sweet - a wonderful second chance romance. I adored Brent and Kennedy. I was a Brent fan from seeing him in the background earlier in the series, but I couldn't wait to see him in the spotlight. Moreover, I couldn't wait to meet the lady that made him realize there was more to life than a hookup. (Or series of hookups.) I'm a sucker for a second chance romance and this is one of my favorites I've ever read. Brent might've gotten around in the past, but he was absolutely all in when Kennedy came back into his life. No other woman could even begin to hold a candle to her.

Kennedy was a fabulous leading lady. She was tough without being hard and didn't take crap from anyone. She'd done enough of that in the past when she was bullied because of her friendship with Brent. And, let me tell you, some of those scenes were so freaking hard to read. I hate that she went through what she did and I was angry at Brent for not stopping it... even if he didn't know the extent of what she was dealing with. I have no doubt he would've tried his best to put a stop to it if he had been aware. He was a dumb kid in a lot of ways back then, but he still had a good heart underneath and Kennedy had been special to him.

Brent and Kennedy gave me major butterflies. They were just too perfect together. Things might've been a bit tense between them when they were first reunited, but it didn't take long for that to melt away and for them to pick up where they left off. Sure, there were some issues that needed addressed but all in all, this one was pretty low on drama. It was big on sexy and swoony, however. Brent had a dirty mouth and I loved it. Kennedy gave as good as she got in and out of the bedroom, so it made for a fun match. Plus there's just something special about childhood friends being reunited and realizing they're anything but just friends.

I laughed and cried with this book. There were some fantastic scenes featuring Stanton, Sofia, Jake, Chelsea and their family. I loved how Kennedy fit in the picture with them, despite being on the other side of the courtroom. I am so sad that this series has come to a close, but I have to give a shout out to Emma for an AMAZING (second) epilogue. (Ok, the first one was pretty amazing, too.) But the second one? It was everything. I get a little teary eyed even thinking about it.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

**Many thanks to publisher for providing this ARC via NetGalley for an honest review**

Bellyaching laughter, messages flying to and fro while our spouses were trying their hardest to get to sleep, was to be the recipe for a night of interruptions. Recommendation. Don’t attempt to do what we did and start reading Appealed at bedtime. Unless, of course, you have a gripe with your partner ’cause this is the perfect payback! There is no doubt whatsoever that this little of gem of a read transforms into the size of the famous diamond Burton gave Liz Taylor. Why? Because it is so deliciously scrumptious that putting it down wasn’t questioned by either of us. The story just seemed to get better and better, funnier, and more complicated as we read on. Told in present from the male protagonist’s point of view, as the banter was astoundingly hilarious and in abundance, this storytelling technique used by the author was beyond our expectations.

Brent ~ “… Her bra gets snagged on an antenna of a passing car and waves majestically down the street like the flag on a diplomats vehicle from some awesome country names Titsland. Feels like I should salute it.’’

So the author has done it again! She’s brought us the perfect complement to a series which is nothing less than outstanding. Her witty ability to write the male protagonist’s traits is exactly how one would imagine a fella would think and exceedingly skilful. Now it’s Brent Mason’s story and ooh boy, if Jake was our man in Sustained, we soon changed our tune in this read.

Brent ~ “If I’m jonesing for a family fix, I can swing by my friends’ houses for dinner and be the favorite uncle to their kids. All the perks, none of the obligation. Life is short – I want to live it. And I really like living it free.’’

Drop-dead gorgeous, accomplished criminal defence attorney and playboy par excellence, his sexual prowess isn’t in the slightest bit hindered by his handicap. Quite the reverse, actually. Convinced that life is too short to have a monogamous relationship, he and his therapist discuss the reasons for his wish to stay single. All his partners in Becker Mason Santos law firm are his best friends and have found their better halves. Now he finds himself on the shelf for want of a better word. Waldo! What a character and a half! We adored this guy who has more patience than a saint and comebacks so fittingly perfect for such a frustrating patient with more nervous energy that a Duracell battery.

Waldo ~ “Well, it’s apparent that you believe what you say. That you think you want this self-focused, low-responsibility lifestyle. The way Pinocchio wanted to cut his strings so he could be a real boy.”

Kennedy Randolph walks into the scenario with her boxing gloves on. Metaphorically speaking, of course. She’s ready to box Brent’s ears in a court case she is opposing as prosecutor. Why she wants revenge after not seeing her childhood best friend and sweetheart since way, way back is an enigma even for Brent. He can’t get over the change in her, either. Now here’s one hell of a sexy and successful woman, but that sweetness he remembered has been replaced with sharp retorts charged with contempt. Where did she go and why she disappeared off the face of the earth without so much as a goodbye, not only intrigues Brent, but he’s also going to have to come to terms with some very hard-earned truths when all is revealed. Oh Lord, is he going to fall off his own pedestal! Using all his manly skills in and out of the courtroom to try and win her over, was a match we really did savour. Despite having reasons for being such a bitch, we couldn’t help but side with her. So for us, it was very much like watching a spectacular battle of wits with plenty of below the belt punches outweighed with humour having us in stitches. The only spanner in the works is she never expected to still have feelings for him, however, she’s going to give him a run for his money. And Brent, sacre bleu! Enraptured, bewitched and for once in his life, not ashamed to admit it, goes out of his way to woo her.

Kennedy ~ “ It’s easy to be brave when you have Great – Grandpa’s money behind you.’’
Brent ~ “ That’s pretty presumptuous of you.’’
Kennedy ~ “ No, what’s presumptuous is thinking you can walk over here, ogle my ti*s and a*s, and assume I won’t call you out on it.’’

Wow! Does Ms Chase know how to write freaking marvellous sex scenes. The only word we could possibly use to describe the sexual desire between Kennedy and Brent is HOT! This couple’s passion was a blast and a half of steaminess and made our temperatures rise. Oh my word, get your hands on a fan, anything that moves air. Put the air-conditioning on full-blast; take a cold shower, ice cubes, whatever! We were delighted with the special treat offered at the end of the story; liars…we were absolutely over the moon as these two lovebirds deserved everything and more besides and you gave it to them Ms Chase. You delivered, as per usual in this series, an awesome read with a few nail-biting twists and turns. It saddens us to say that this is the last book in The Legal Briefs series. Thank you for giving us more of Brent’s best friends, too. It was a joy to read how they were all getting on with their lives. This book can be read as a standalone; nevertheless, we highly recommend you reading the two previous books to enjoy the secondary characters in this one. We really don’t want you to miss out on the slightest detail. What more can we say other than BRAVO!

Brent ~ “If Kennedy’s ass were bronzed, I would prostrate myself before it and pray.’’

Appealed is the third novel in the Legal Briefs Series but it can be read as a standalone. I love Emma Chase and her books, she is the queen of the writing the Male's POV! She always makes me laugh out loud, get hot and bothered, want to slap someone upside their head, and cry at some point. And Brent and Kennedy's story did just that...

Brent and Kennedy were neighbors growing up and were the best of friends but when they went to boarding school together things changed. They were still friends but it was in a different way, more distant and it made things difficult. Then one day, Kennedy was gone. Now, fourteen years later, she was back and ready for a fight in and outside of the courtroom. Brent is a defense attorney and Kennedy is the new prosecutor on the case. He thought it would be easy to get a plea but nothing is easy when Kennedy is involved. She is out to win. But when lines get crossed, can they separate their relationship from their work?

Brent doesn't know why Kennedy suddenly left all of the years ago but he has been thinking about her ever since. He doesn't do relationships, he wants his freedom but when he sees her again, he wants what he was never looking for. Her. He needs to crack Kennedy's tough exterior to get her to open up. To let him in again. The sarcastic banter and fights in the courtroom are their way of building sexual tension. And when that tension is broken, it's f-amazing!! But will it cause Kennedy to run again? She has major trust issues that need to be mended. And to do that, they need to not just have crazy sex but to talk. Can they let go of the past so they past so they can have a future?

I loved everything about this book! The characters are fantastic. They way they are together is hilarious, hot, frustrating, intense, and sweet. And even though they were not a couple back in the day, it still felt like a second chance romance to me. What could have been. But everything happens for a reason, right?

Overall...I highly recommend reading Appealed. I would also recommend reading the previous books. I am not sure if there is going to be more books in the series but I sure hope so! Pretty please Emma.

Appealed is a little nutty, a little over the top, a little too crazy to be believed... But in all the very best ways. This book could be a movie with it's wild antics and snarky dialogue and overall hilarity that culminates into your quintessential romantic comedy. It definitely lacks the believability at times that Overruled and Sustained held, but Appealed is precisely what a sexy, humor-driven romance was always meant to be: A fun, sometimes emotional, always addictive, sexy romance rife with adorably charming characters, a heart-warming plot and a consuming love story peppered with drama and humor. Appealed is the kind of feel-good story you can easily get lost in, can just curl up with for a few laughs, a few tugs of the heart strings, and a good dose of sex appeal.

There are some one-liners in this book that may or may not have caused me to piss my pants. I'll never tell. But holy s***. The comedic timing by Emma Chase only gets better and better with each book and that's saying a lot considering how hilarious her very first romantic comedy was. This book is rife with superb wit and sarcasm and I honestly can not get enough.

Despite all that I truly loved about Kennedy and Brent's story, I couldn't knock the feeling that there was something missing. I can't pinpoint exactly what that was, but whatever it was kept me a bit removed, a bit unable to fully commit to the attraction between them in the same way that I did with Stanton and Sophia, Jake and Chelsea. That certainly doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy this story because I absolutely did. It's just that Appealed is a Mounds bar and the other two books in this series are Almond Joys... Both chocolate, both delicious, both treats that I want to eat repeatedly. But Appealed was missing the nuts, missing that something to really hit it home. But even given that, I really liked this story. Appealed is a devastatingly beautiful love story, written in signature Emma Chase style. Sexy. Funny. Heart-warming. Angsty. Adorably addictive and unexpected. I'm wholly in love with the Legal Briefs series and Appealed doesn't disappoint.

Appealed is altogether too appealing to resist! Do not miss the book. As the third book in the author's Legal Briefs series it is my all time favorite! A rakish playboy and a seductive temptress make this red hot romance absolutely fun and erotic.

Brent Mason is rich, handsome and doesn't realize he is stuck in a rut. As a successful criminal lawyer he finds purpose but enjoys his endless string of flings. No woman has really touched him. That is until he is duty bound to arrive at his parents party. There he sees a stunning woman. A woman that used to be his childhood best friend. And one that abandoned him. Her name is Kennedy Randolph. And while Kennedy might find Brent sexy she appears to not want any part of him. But Brent has different ideas. He never forgot the girl he grew up and always wondered about her. To discover she has all grown up -a stunning beauty with brains. And a woman who won't hold back from telling her him her mind. She is simply irresistible. However, Kennedy has her own agenda, Brent may have been her childhood crush but he never defended her and stood by while she was humiliated. Can the woman she has become forgive him and open her heart a man known for his ruthlessness?

This is an absolutely fabulous read. Brent is an outrageous character. He knows he is the cat's meow and isn't afraid to use that to his advantage in the courtroom or in the bedroom! Brent is the most refreshing and sexy hero I've read all year. I liked his confidence and drive. And even when he is being 'bad,' he is so charming you can't help enjoying his naughtiness. But Brent gets a big wake-up call when he meets his old pal, Kennedy. Kennedy is a woman that he truly cares for. Unlike the low maintenance flings in his past. She makes him prove that he can think of someone besides himself. I enjoyed reading how he finally realizes that he must respect Kennedy's decisions even if he doesn't agree with them. Kennedy is a very sympathetic character that has always loved Brent but been badly burned by him. I enjoyed how the often clueless Brent had to step back and re-evaluate his actions and make changes in his life. Brent really grows in this story and the journey is super fun to read.

Brent is a charming modern day rogue that woman will be guaranteed to fall in love with.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

This was great. Hysterical at moments actually alot of the book was hysterical. The point of view of Brent is awesome. It was so entertaining. Especially when he is with children. He treats them so wonderfully and he is a fun ball of energy.

In some ways Brent has accepted his situation with his leg and who he is and in others he hasn’t. We see through his past in high school that he was an idiot and insecure. He accepted his situation but was afraid of others not accepting him. The way he helps Kennedy in the end with high school is sweet..

Kennedy is a spitfire who was once Brent’s best friend. She and him had some misunderstandings as teenagers and she became anger filled and walls went up. She went from sweet and kind to angry and feeling not one who can trust feelings or anyone. Only a few does she let in. From early on in life, Kennedy fights for things. Her mom wants her a certain way but Brent was always there. Until high school when one girl changes their world. When one misunderstanding changes the path both are going on. For Kennedy she shuts down and becomes a prosecutor. For Brent he loses his best friend and doesn’t understand why.. when she shows back in his life he is ecstatic and thinking he will get answers. What he gets is snark, anger and a brawl in the courtroom. He loves this new Kennedy and the fight she has. He loves the challenge in the courtroom that gives us entertainment. heck even the judge is entertained and after getting frustrated does some odd negotiating. From than on, they find out the truth of high school and Brent feels bad. They start to get to know each other and this time is great. It’s fun and light. We are truly entertained by the time they spend together. the BBQ and Jakes was awesome as was the getaway to his parents. But it isn’t all light and fun. Kennedy’s life is in danger and this is occurring as they are falling in love. Well Brent is in love already. when that danger becomes reality Brent gets scared and says some silly things. This is the only moment I want to smack him. It is his awesome friends that help him see his stupidity and we get back to the good Brent. The caring wonderful kind Brent but also in Vegas we see the tiger and one who uses his name to get what he wants.

This book is so fun. It was like Tangled in some aspects because we have Brent’s fun perspective. He starts out as arrogant and work driven. He throws humor in to deflect things away from him and his problems. But he is a good guy. He is strong and sweet. Funny as all get out and a good friend and lawyer. As you see him interact with Kennedy he goes from arrogant and a player to one who wants to snuggle and have someone in his life. At first this confuses him but he rolls with it and we get an amazing story from there. The zingers from all the characters are entertaining and keep you smiling. the story itself has some serious aspects but is portrayed in such a way that you are just entertained. We see regrets and how people are affected by experiences as teens. We see where communication can break down and change courses of people’s lives. We see forgiveness and love and we get all this in fun ways. I am glad that Kennedy’s POV wasn’t seen because I think that would have changed the feel of the book. Having Brent tell this story kept it light when it needed to be and we see his growth and love. We get a fun version of enters and the serious moments are done with taste in its light hearted manner.

A truly wonderful fun book with snarky moments and moments of realization for both characters in who they are and what they have become and what they need to learn. We have fun moments, steamy moments, sweet swoony moments (Brent with Stanton and Sophie’s baby) and serious moments. The writing is fast paced and light and the story is just meant to be a curl up in a chair and read. No hidden deep meaning to find just be truly immersed in the fun and sweet story of how Brent and Kennedy find each other again and fall in love

Brent Mason, known as the charming and funny lawyer of the Fab Four of the Criminal Law, now had the floor to tell his story.

He was carefree, easygoing and normally an all around happy guy. Few pages in and I was already laughing my ass off! Emma Chase really took the top spot in my list of people who had the ability to tickle my funny bone. Her characters were effortlessly hilarious but with a lot of substance.

Brent was a criminal defense lawyer while Kennedy was a prosecutor, making them work in opposite sides of the court. She was a fierce and fully-possessed woman who enjoyed being a ballbuster in and out of court. She also had a long history with Brent..

They were childhood friends and neighbors and both were from wealthy families. She was a sweet and innocent girl who trusted and admired him. He was a naughty and spoiled boy who felt protective of her. After years of no communication, they saw each other again only to find out they were about to face each other in court.

We get to have a glimpse of how they were before the fall-out, and it was a sweet, innocent versions of themselves. It was also probably the most honest and meaningful relationship both of them have ever had. I still can't decide which part I loved best - the Brent and Kennedy in their younger days or the older versions. The former was filled with trust, familiarity, easy banter and loyalty. The latter started with distrust and animosity but with obvious attraction, where flirting came in the form of insults and arguing was their foreplay. But regardless of which time of their lives it was, they were obviously made for each other.

There were two traits that Brent shared with his friends Stanton and Jake: they were excellent lawyers and they enjoyed playing the field and no-strings-attached type of relationships. Or so they thought. It was interesting that what made them succeed in court was also what won them their women in the end. Stanton the "Jury charmer" got his girl through his charm; Jake won over his girl's heart with his intensity and dedication. But Brent? His sense of humor and relentless personality won him not only his cases but the heart of a fierce and self-assured woman.

This was such an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to more books from this author, esp about that extended epilogue.

Emma once again proved that wit and humor are her best ammunitions and male POV her forte.

The Legal Briefs series is about four partners in a law firm discovering there is much more to life than court cases and unemotional dating. While three of the attorneys have found that someone special, one lawyer is still carefree with no intentions of settling down anytime soon. Yet fate can change lives in an instant when unexpected circumstances dredge up memories from the past. How the two main characters will respond to each other after years apart could be a turning point in both their lives, or be a missed opportunity at being with someone never forgotten. With the story written from the viewpoint of the charming hero, I was given insight into the mind of a man who believed himself happy until one dynamic woman shows him the error of his thinking. Emma Chase masterfully makes APPEALED memorable with priceless humor, sizzling passion and emotionally engaging situations.

Though Brent Mason was very good friends with his closest neighbor when they were children, he and Kennedy Randolph have not been in contact for fourteen years. At a family gathering, he is stunned to see that she has dramatically changed from an awkward girl into a gorgeous woman. Kennedy even went into law and has now moved back to Washington, DC where she is a federal prosecutor. When Brent, who is a criminal defense attorney, realizes they are working the same case but on opposite sides, he quickly comes to understand there is nothing timid about her any longer after she declares there is no way he will win.

Once the trial begins, Brent admires the way Kennedy conducts herself yet is frustrated trying to overcome her skillful objections. Also annoying is the fact of how much he is attracted to her spunky behavior and sharp wit. While some memories of him are good, there are others which cause Kennedy mental suffering to this day and make staying away from Brent seem best. But when the opinion that she has had of him for years is gradually replaced with new beliefs, she is left confused. Now all he has to do is plead his very personal case and see if she believes him.

There is a wide variety of emotions depicted in APPEALED, and I truly became involved in each incident that happened to this particularly likable couple. From sidesplitting retorts which caused uncontainable laughter to teasing among friends, I was amused and could not wait for more. While there is lots of hilarity in the story, there are also plenty of heartfelt emotions expressed from time to time, often without any warning. Since Brent frequently uses humor to alter the course of a conversation and not reveal anything private, I was deeply moved when any of his inner feelings were actually conveyed with frank honesty. I enjoyed this man in prior books of the series, but his personality really shines in his own story. How Emma Chase makes every single detail in the life of her characters come across as realistic is absolutely remarkable in APPEALED.

Sometimes a significant moment can change the life of a person forever, and Brent plus Kennedy have definitely experienced their share. While both appear to have prevailed over past problems, there are times when they are still greatly affected by these crucial events. Ms. Chase gives enough facts to comprehend exactly what occurred and the resulting consequences. While Brent had physical problems, Kennedy had way too many troubles with emotional costs. Their reactions to currents issues are often truthfully candid, making them seem even more genuine. Desire between the couple reaches sky-high levels, and these two certainly know how to satisfy each other over and over again. Main characters from the previous books show up occasionally, and they offer words of wisdom or just say something witty. The Legal Briefs series may be over, but the interesting characters will long be remembered. APPEALED is exceptionally captivating.

Appealed is the most gorgeous ROMANTIC, lovely story about two beautiful people who find themselves all grown up with a second chance at loving each other. I was in my reading element. I swooned, I laughed and I shared the sense of fun the Marvel references evoked. I welled up with emotion during the beautiful Epilogue and I basked in the memory of previous characters. The story is told completely from the male perspective and in first person narrative. Emma Chase is the Queen of the male point of view and, once again, delivered perfection to my reading world.

Kennedy Randolph was once perceived as a social outcast, her self confidence took a beating but now years later it's her turn to shine as a sexy, highly successful, competent, self assured prosecutor. She has immense integrity, stands up for what she believes in and has complete confidence in the win when she comes up against her old friend in the courtroom.... Brent.

Brent... Sexy, GORGEOUS Brent Mason. Brent is Partner in a successful law firm. As stated in the blurb he's a man with a disability, but this is not the crux of the story arc, it just happens to be part of this gorgeous character and it's depicted convincingly that he lives a full life despite what happened to him as a child. He's successful, courageous, and loyal and goes after what he wants, all the time showing the witty and endearing personality of someone who's easy to fall head of heels in love with.

He’s been in therapy since he was ten and she’s fighting the influences of her past. The protagonists were once childhood best friends but everything changed... I love the construction of the unfolding story, the exploration of their youth as we’re given a glimpse of their past offering the perfect snippets to understand the whys and wherefores. The small nuggets of information are enlightening and exhibit the perfect motivation for the reasons why Kennedy feels the way she does.

I enjoyed their banter and could feel their chemistry through their fiery exchanges as they come up against each other in the courtroom. I gobbled up the pages that showcase how they give into their deep attraction, an attraction that stems from a powerful childhood love evoking possibilities of so much more. The erotic sexy nature of the book is absolutely delicious!

Appealed is super charming, humorous and passionate in the telling, making it an incredibly sexy story with romance galore. I adored everything about it and mark this as a must read for all Second Chance ROMANCE lovers.

Note: APPEALED is part of THE LEGAL BRIEFS series but can most definitely be read as a STANDALONE.

I’ve absolutely adored Emma Chase’s The Legal Briefs series. There’s no other author I’ve read who can consistently deliver the male point of view as confidently and realistically as Chase. Her heroes are driven men who want what they want and make no qualms about what they’re willing to do to get it, even if that means playing hard ball with the object of their affection.

In a court of law, there are rules to follow…points to be made, but those same ideas apply outside the courtroom where the stakes may even be higher than a guilty or not guilty verdict because logical reasoning is not the only factor in real life – emotions play a huge role in the judgment of the defendant, and the judge and jury in this case is definitely not impartial.

Brent’s always been the wild card in this trio of men, so it doesn’t surprise me that his lack of intimacy in his relationships stems from a past that readers are now privy to…and that backstory is all about the girl who got away…the one who may or not have broken his heart and led him down a 15 year path of selfish and irresponsible acts when it comes to the opposite sex. But when Kennedy Randolph walks back into his life and his courtroom, his game changes and it involves finally getting the girl he’s always wanted even if he made quite a few missteps along the way.

Brent and Kennedy's story is definitely a battle of wills both in the courtroom and the bedroom. Kennedy doesn’t make things easy on Brent, which is exactly what he deserves for his obliviousness all those years ago. Kennedy’s changed a lot from the girl she was 15 years ago; she’s just as funny and intelligent as she was before, but there’s a fierceness as well as a fragility that Brent didn’t see back then and wants to understand why it’s there now even if he’s somewhat to blame.

I love second chance romance stories where the hero realizes things about himself from his past and does everything in his power to rectify his mistakes, and because the story is told completely in Brent's POV, readers hear firsthand everything he's thinking and feeling as he works to make things right with Kennedy and woos her in a way that only a confident and smart ass man can do.

I loved catching up with Stanton, Jake and their respective families and the fact that they make Brent eat his words when it comes to being domesticated makes Appealed even better!

I have been anxiously awaiting Brent's book ever since finishing Sustained, so I was eager to dive right in once I got my hands on it. I will go ahead and tell you that I devoured this book in one sitting, which has become a rarity for me lately. I could not get enough of Brent and Kennedy and their awesome banter. I am such a sucker for second chance romances, so this worked so well for me. And the extended epilogue? Sheer perfection. I teared up and just felt so overwhelmed with emotion because it was EXACTLY the ending I was looking for.

Brent is the laid back one of the group and is all about living life to the fullest and enjoying himself. He has worked hard to make a name for himself and he doesn't depend on his parents or their money to help him get by. I love that he isn't too proud to see a therapist and that he genuinely takes his advice to heart. Not many guys would be willing to do that and talk out their issues with someone else, so Brent instantly earned points for being so self-assured. He's confident, but he doesn't come across as a jerk either. He was a great protagonist and I loved being inside his head.

When Kennedy Randolph waltzes back into his life, Brent is pretty stunned. He has always cared for the girl next door, but now she's an absolute knockout. I loved her sass too! She doesn't let Brent get away with ANYTHING and I was proud of her for giving as good as she did. She has some serious steel walls though and after finding out how she was bullied and treated in high school, I don't blame her one bit. I hated how her and Brent's history got so warped and ruined by pettiness and jealous mean girls. Their history definitely plays a role in their current relationship and it's no easy task for Brent to win Kennedy's heart. He has to work for it, but he does so brilliantly and I love that moment where he lays it all on the line for her. He doesn't mince words, doesn't play games. That's a man after my own heart right there. As always, Emma Chase delivers on the delicious, sexy times, as well as the swoony ones!

I enjoyed seeing Stanton, Sofia, Jake, Chelsea, and the kids again too. Seeing them interact as a group really made my heart happy and they have a great dynamic together. The extended epilogue was everything I could ever want for these characters and it's a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye. However, I thought Chase did a wonderful job with this third novel in the Legal Briefs series. As always, I can't wait to see where she takes us next!

Appealed is the third book in the Legal Briefs series, and I’ve really been looking forward to Brent’s story. I fully expected to love it, especially after falling madly in love with the previous book, Sustained. Appealed isn’t the slam-dunk I hoped it would be, but it’s still highly enjoyable. It’s a friends to enemies to lovers story that cleverly combines two popular tropes.

Brent is a successful defense attorney who happily enjoys his bachelor lifestyle. Throughout the years he’s often thought of Kennedy though. She’s the shy, unpopular, yet sweet girl next door who broke his heart when they were teenagers and then inexplicably disappeared from his life. When a prosecutor is assigned to the case Brent’s working on, he’s shocked to discover it’s Kennedy—now gorgeous and confident. He’s more attracted to her than ever, but for some reason Kennedy is blatantly hostile toward him. Each of them is convinced they are the wronged party. Their animosity and sexual tension spill over into the courtroom until eventually they’re forced to confront what happened fourteen years ago.

I loved how their past is revealed in pieces. When we finally get to see things from Kennedy’s perspective, Brent realizes he has to do some serious groveling to get back into Kennedy’s good graces—and her bed. He recognizes that she’s the one who got away.

“What if the reason I’ve never let myself fall in love with a woman is because I didn’t have anything to give? Because I’d already given my heart to her when we were seventeen years old? And all these years I’ve just been waiting for her to come back to me with it.”

Brent’s humor and persistence make him extremely likable, and Kennedy’s resentment makes for some wonderful banter between the two. Animosity can generate heat between couples, but I just wasn’t feeling the chemistry between him and Kennedy. While she is justified in her feelings of hurt and betrayal, Kennedy’s lack of trust makes her standoffish through much of the book. I think it contributed to my feeling somewhat disconnected from her. Brent may not have been deterred, but I felt frustrated for him.

In the end, Emma Chase’s witty writing, adorable hero, and a fun storyline make this well worth the read.

“We shy away from the things that hurt us – that have hurt us in the past.

That’s what scars are for. They protect the wounds. Cover them with thick, numb tissue so we’ll never have to fell that same pain again. The bottom of my stump is one big, hard callus”

I absolutely adore Emma Chase! She is back with another super-sexy, witty and warm-hearted story that made me laugh at loud and tear up a bit.

Brent and Kennedy’s story is sexy, funny, and completely endearing. Brent won me over and once again, Ms. Chase shows her skills at writing the male POV.

Brent Mason is a top lawyer and is totally surprised to see Kennedy Randolph again after many years. She was a sweet and nerdy girl who has now blossomed into a beautiful swan, who is also gorgeous, smart and his adversary in the courtroom.

Irresistible Brent sleeps around (a LOT) but never forgot his first love. Kennedy and Brent now face off in court in a high-profile case which added lots of opportunities for these two to really let the sparks fly. But it’s the supporting cast of characters as well as the witty banter between these two that are central to this story. An interesting twist to the story is that Brent lost his leg in a childhood accident. He doesn’t let this slow him down in ANY area of his life. This was a refreshing change of pace in an otherwise funny and sexy contemporary romance story.

Kennedy is scared of getting involved with Brent after all these years and the flashbacks to her teenage years, when she was bullied at school, are very poignant and form a stark contrast to the smart, successful attorney she is now. But Brent will stop at nothing to show Kennedy that she is the love of his life, and he is one determined guy!

“…I collapse on top of her, my bones turned to Jell-o.

When the aftershocks eventually ebb, she laughs. That tinkling, magical laugh that sings of contentment and tugs up my own lips in a responding smile.

Now that – that is how you start a f-ing trial.”

Emma Chase’s fans will eat this one up! Ms. Chase keeps up her winning streak with Appealed, a great entry in the Legal Briefs series.

“Commitment isn’t always a burden, Brent. It can also be the source of unimaginable joy and satisfaction.”

I love second chance romance novels, and this was by far one of the best ones I’ve read yet.

Brent and Kennedy were childhood friends who went their separate ways and were out of touch for years. Now they’ve been thrust together again in the courtroom, as defense attorney and prosecutor, and holy wow do the sparks ever start to fly.

Emma is brilliant when it comes to storytelling. I’ve loved all the characters in her books so far. She crafts these characters who are completely relatable, who I could picture leaving the pages and coming right into my life as a part of my social circle. She’s got a wicked way with humor, creates these fun storylines, and tosses in plenty of well-written, sexy-as-hell scenes.

Another thing Emma is great at is giving us strong female leads, and that’s one of my favorite things about her writing. Kennedy is a kick ass chick. She’s intelligent, driven, successful, and not about to back down and roll over for Brent, or any other man. She holds her own, she’s sassy, and I freaking love her.

Brent is equally amazing. He’s got a pretty tough exterior but there’s vulnerability there under the surface. Once he sets his sights on something he doesn’t stop until he’s got it. And when he loves, he loves hard. He went through such a change in the book in terms of how he viewed relationships and love, and that was amazing to read.

I loved the first two books in this series, and I loved Appealed just as much. The original characters are still there, just lingering in the background, but we get to see them and that was great.

Even though I was laughing out loud for much of this story, I was also socked right in the feels a few times. It was the perfect combination of humor and hotness that I’ve come to expect from Emma Chase.

This one gets the Got Nikki? Must Read seal of approval and Brent—well, he’s the first one to make my Top Book Boyfriends of 2016 list.

Five stars to this book!

I don’t know how Emma Chase does it. I had zero expectations going into Appealed. When I got it, I thought to myself I would just read a few pages and then go about my day. Four hours later I finished it and I was just smiling from ear to ear.

Appealed is a standalone and is part of The Legal Briefs series. Be sure you blocked a few hours of reading because once you start this book, you will not be able to stop.

There are many things I enjoyed about this one. I loved the writing style, flow and of course characters.

This is Kennedy and Brent’s story. The story begins with a bit of a flash forward, it doesn’t really give anything away and I usually cringe at these parts, but this time, I found it really funny and I had to know what led up to the events.

Brent and Kennedy were friends back in the day. Brent was the popular, good looking one, where Kennedy was that awkward and plain girl. You know where this is going. Something happens and Kennedy and Brent part ways in a very dramatic fashion.

Its years later and Kennedy is back. She’s shiny, pretty and ready to fight in court, against Brent. I love second chance romances because the tension between Brent and Kennedy are completely warranted. I loved reading the flashbacks throughout the book because it helped me paint a picture of what kind of relationship Kennedy and Brent had before the fall out.

Brent remembers Kennedy and loves the new woman she has become, but Kennedy is making it hard for Brent to get close to her. I loved Kennedy. I found her sassy, smart and opinionated. She kept on Brent on his toes and I love a strong Heroine. Brent cracked me up and I laughed out loud so many times. One of the things I love so much about Emma Chase books are her POV. I love the male POV and I love Brent.

If you are a fan of the series, Emma Chase or just want to read a funny and cute book, Appealed is for you.

I’d been looking forward to Brent’s book ever since meeting him in Overruled, and I’m glad to say his story didn’t disappoint! Emma Chase once again delivers a fantastic, hilarious, fun-filled romance with lovable characters that I simply adored. Appealed is a wonderful finale to the Legal Briefs series, and I’m sad to see the series end.

Of the three friends, Brent Mason is the charming, laid-back, funny one everyone seems to love. Everyone except Kennedy Randolph that is. They were childhood friends, but a miscommunication back in high school tore their friendship apart, and Kennedy has avoided the man she hates ever since. But now that they’re working on opposite sides of a case, their close proximity brings back the feelings they had for each other years ago. But can Kennedy let go of her hate and let Brent back into her heart?

I love stories where the main characters grew up as childhood friends, so this book was an absolute joy to read. Add in Emma Chase’s brilliantly funny writing and her wonderful male POV, you get a heart-warming, feel-good story you don’t want to miss. If you’re a fan of the series, you’re going to love Brent and Kennedy! Every single scene between them had me smiling so hard.

Brent is the absolute SWEETEST, and I loved how determined he is to win Kennedy’s heart. It was good to see him softer, romantic, and more vulnerable, especially since all we’d known of him was his cocky, confident side. Kennedy is the perfect match for him – she doesn’t back down from Brent and she certainly doesn’t give in to him easily. She makes him work for her trust and heart, and you can tell how much Brent treasures those two things.

Appealed is another winner from Emma Chase. She is probably my favorite author at writing the male POV, and I can only hope she never stops. Sustained is still my favorite of the Legal Briefs series, but Appealed is still a must read!

Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph grew up next door to each other, but have not seen each other for many years. Brent has never let his childhood amputation slow him down, and Kennedy is one of the few people who don’t treat him differently because he lost a leg. But he can’t figure out why she seems to hate him now that she is back in town after so many years. Now, they are opposing counsel in a case that is personal for each of them, for different reasons.

Kennedy is a smart, strong, brilliant leading lady. Her courtroom persona is in direct opposition to the quiet, nerdy girl she was in the past. Her directed focus on her career and proving herself only make her more honest as she channels the confidence she has in court to other aspects of her life.

I loved watching these two circle, in the courtroom and in their personal lives. The history between them, even the hurt, made for an entertaining read that kept me turning pages.

This had a slower start for me than previous books in the series. I had a hard time feeling them as a couple in the beginning. But as I continued, both characters warmed up to me and I fell in love.

There was an added bit of danger that I almost wish would have played a larger role in the plot. The presence of the danger was in the background, but I would have loved if I felt that as a real threat to Kennedy rather than just an abstract background plot line.

It was great seeing Stanton and Sofia and Jake and Chelsea again. Between the three couples, there was always something going on, something to laugh about. And the families in the background added some great hilarity to the story. This ended with a great epilogue and an extended epilogue that had me giddy with it’s perfection as an endcap to the series.

In the final installment of the Legal Briefs, we finally get Brent Mason's story. Before you ask, yes, this book can be read as a standalone. I knew he was going to be a lovable character from the previous two books. What I especially loved about Brent, was that he didn't let his disability define him. He's sexy and confident. When he is paired up with and old friend, Kennedy Randolph, he is willing to win her back. Little did he know, she wants nothing to do with him.

This is another friends to lovers type of book, but with lots of repercussions lol. I really enjoyed this book, although funny, not as funny as Sustained. (which was my favorite). I understood where Kennedy was coming from with her distrust of Brent, I just wish she gave Brent a little more credit. I think out of all the book heroines in the Legal Briefs Series, Kennedy was my least favorite. I loved her confidence in the courtroom, and as I mentioned earlier, I could understand her issues with trust. Let’s be real, teenagers in high school are cruel and what Kennedy went through was no laughing matter. But here’s the thing, you eventually need to grow up and stop living in the past and that was my issue with Kennedy. I loved how Brent really was trying to win her trust over, a lot of the things that happened to Kennedy he really did not know about. Their sexy times was really hot, but when Kennedy is threatened by a mobster, Brent pulls the ultimate ultimatum and that was no bueno.

I have said it plenty of times when I read an Emma Chase book, she is the Queen of the male POV. I swear she must have been a man in a previous life. I cannot wait for more Emma Chase books in my reading life.

Appealed is the last in this series of sexy Lawyers, and we are treated to a second chance romance from the fantastic Emma Chase, but not only that, but a Love/Hate trope too!

Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph basically grew up together, living as neighbours in their elite neighbourhood and always having a close bond. Their parents were good friends too, so they spent a lot of time in each others company unless they were at school, where they surrounded themselves with a different group of friends altogether, which led to certain events which eventually caused a rift between the pair.

This was the perfect book to end the series, I love each and every one of the characters within it and Brent was a surprise to me because he was determined and very sure of his feelings, despite being a professional bachelor in previous books.

There was quite a bit of depth to this story, so on top of the usual humour we have come to expect from this author, we were gifted with an emotional story too, which touches on topics that I am sure we have all experienced at one time or another. Of course, the steam level is high, and absolutely delicious.

It’s hard not to fall in love with both Brent and Kennedy, and as always it’s such a treat to catch up with the other 3 partners, Stanton, Sophia and Jake.

This is one of my favourite legal series, along with Legal Affairs by Sawyer Bennett, and once again Emma Chase nails the Male POV like a boss.

I am sad that the series has come to an end, but am very much looking forward to what the author has in store for us in the future.

Appealed is part of a series of standalone contemporary romance novels, told in the male POV.

An entertaining second chance romance filled with intense objections and swoon worthy gestures commingled with deep rooted matters of the heart.

I finished this book over a week ago and I have not stopped thinking about Brent and Kennedy. I loved these characters and this book. They entertained me with their witty banter but their stories captured my heart and took me on quite an emotion packed journey. I love second chance romances – LOVE THEM – and this book is sitting on the top of my favorite reads of 2016.

There was never a dull moment with Brent and Kennedy and I could not read fast enough to keep up with my heart’s need to know what would happen next. I loved Kennedy and her fierce and feisty personality. She was a force to be reckoned with both in and out of the courtroom. Brent’s determination and persistence with Kennedy was charming and sweet and he completely stole my heart.

I was engaged in the story, invested in the characters and loved catching up with the gang. Chase is a master at her craft with perfectly placed comedic relief woven into her stories to ensure the full spectrum of emotion is delivered. Though I am not a huge fan of Rom-Coms, Chase has ensnared me with her writing style and acquired a position on my must read author list. This is the third installment in the Legal Briefs series and though I am sad to see it end, I am excited for what is to come from Chase.

My Views : This one was another winner by Emma Chase. Appealed is the story of two people who knew each other since childhood but a misunderstanding made them part their ways bitterly and when they knock to each other in adulthood, all the bitterness comes out and then they eventually fall in love. Appealed was sweet, funny, sexy and had a pinch of emotion attach to it but overall a very entertaining read.

Style of writing : Emma Chase has never disappointed me with her male voices till date and she was fantastic with Brent. The ability to give male povs and make each one of them distinct from each other and yet very entertaining is quite a difficult job but Emma nailed this one.

“What’d you do to your face?” she asks, folding her arms.
I touch my chin. “I grew a beard.”
“Well ungrow it. It looks like a vagina from a 1970's porn film.”

Characters :Emma Chase always create characters who can stand up to each other. Both Brent and Kennedy are lawyers which means very smart and each time they had their banter, I was there with my kindle in one hand and popcorn in the other one.

Favorite Part : I had a few – The first one was when Brent takes Kennedy in his arms and runs away. (I cannot reveal more or else it’ll be a spoiler but I was cheering them from the screen of my kindle). And my second favourite part was the extended epilogue!

What did not work? So, if I loved this book so much, why only 4 stars? It’s because even though the character knew each other since childhood, I felt like they became a couple too quickly in the book. Then second thing was that they were too many sex scenes for such a short read!

Recommended : Obviously, this one is a must read. It was funny and sexy and very entertaining. Emma Chase has never disappointed me till date with her male voices.
