Having finished the Southern Vampire Mysteries, I needed another Charlaine Harris kick, so I decided to try the Aurora Teagarden series. It reads easily enough but it definitely lacks the excitement of the SVM. I know the two series are completely different, so they shouldn't be compared. All in all it was entertaining, but I think I will only continue the series once I'm done with the Lily Bard Series (amazing) and maybe the Harper Connely Series and am really desperate.

Charlaine takes me directly into the world of Aurora who is a character I especially love. I've read nearly everything Chairlaine has written and I cant wait for the latest in the Aurora TeaGarden series to come out next month

I really enjoyed this book and am now reading the series. I saw the Hallmark movie with Candance Cameron Bure which made me eager to read the books. I am going to get the fifth book but the first four were good. I imagined Candace as Roe and put myself into the story to solve the crime along with Roe. I think this is a must read for all murder mystery buffs.

I really enjoyed this mystery. It was fast-paced and interesting. The author has a way of making you care about the main character. Those that like her Sookie Stackhouse books will like this series - mysteries, but without the supernatural thrown in.

As I anxiously wait for the next installment of the Sookie Stackhouse books (late June 2008!) I reviewed other titles by Charlaine Harris including books 1 and 2 of the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. I bought the first two together in case I needed to read the 2nd book right away (and couldn't wait for 2 day shipping). I'm sorry to say I could have waited.

The pace is slow, the writing a little childish, and Ms. Harris never manages to capture interest with her plot or her characters.

I'll probably read more of these books when I need a predictable, formulaic read to help transition me to sleep... but I'll buy them used.

Back to counting the days until Sookie arrives.

Aurora Teagarden was suggested to me by our daughter and a good suggestion it was. It was fun reading, a mystery but without the blood and gore of some other books. It was definitely about the mystery and the characters. It kept my interest throughout the book. And best of all, I can read it on my IPad!

I read this years after the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I see a lot of similarities. Except without all the sex, vampires and other supernatural entities.

I found myself asking why Aurora Teagarden is even a character in the story. Sure, she is the narrator of the tale, but she sucks at knowing what she should know about "real murders." She is just too nice and naive to be someone to solve the crimes in these books. Plus, just like Sookie, somewhere along the way, she is the one who almost gets killed and/or gets the crap kicked out of her by the murderer.

I will try another book in the series, but it's not looking good so far.

I listened to this book after finding out that these "Aurora Teegarden" mysteries was a series of books. My first listen was "Dead Over Heels". Was glad to find that the same narrator came with these books. I don't know Therese Plummer, but love her ability to keep me interested and anxious to return for more. Great job!!!!

I've read several of the Teagarden mysteries and I've enjoyed them all. I'm a fan of cozy mysteries so this was right up my alley. I would suggest that you consider the Teagarden books if you're a fan of Carolyn Hart's Death On Demand series or Joan Hess' Maggody series or Claire Malloy mysteries. These stories are a joy to spend your lunch hour on or other stolen moments with your Kindle.

It wasn't as good as the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but Harris has again written a believable heroine that feels more like a good friend than a character in a book. I will happily read the rest of the Teagarden series.

I wanted to read this because of the Hallmark made for tv movies - I've seen them in advertisements and I'm always looking for a book to read. It read easily enough, but it was confusing sometimes, like I skipped a whole chapter. I thought the overall story was great the copycat murders and everything, but I wasn't a big fan of the characters. Roe is not my favorite heroine - I didn't like the forced love life, - I think it would've been better with less of it. I think had it been written as a longer book with more pauses in time it would've been really good. All in all though it was okay - easy, quick read, I might read book 2 because now that the first is out of the way it might be more streamline with character development.
