I really like Lani Lynn Vale’s books especially since I can get a new one in every moth but her phenomenal characters and intense, fast paced stories sell themselves anyway. So you can picture my glee when I found out that in September there are going to be not one but two new releases. I was pretty stoked.
So this story is sport romance, which is a new area for the author. Usually she works with everyday heroes or various military personas so I was really excited how she will do with the famous athlete card. It was a pretty good start with sport romance but not the best I ever read. However my problem with the story wasn’t really the sport part but more like the lack of excitement in it.
The premise of the book is pretty interesting especially since I love the whole woman trying to get her footing in a male dominated world, which Sway being an athletic trainer for a pro baseball team, fits the profile. This part of the story I absolutely loved and I liked the characters quite well too but the story overall was just mediocre for me. I don’t exactly know why but I didn’t love it.
First of all, things start out quite fast and smooth which I liked. The whole relationship parts forms so easily and effortlessly that it’s a delight to read, sometimes I just need an easy romance without struggles and extra drama to it. The chemistry is pretty great there and I really like how the whole professional sport world is presented but there are thing in the story which are quite out of place. One of those things was the whole balck-ops mission element, which is not just unbelievable but really unrealistic as well. I also wasn’t quite satisfied the way how the other conflict point, alas the whole coworker conflict is handled, it’s too low key compared to the buildup it gets.
Sway is a honest, hard working, vibrant, caring and easy to like character. Maybe she is a bit inexperienced when it comes to relationships but she is a quick learner. The only thing that I didn’t like about her is body image issues, namely the amount of time she spends obsessing with others opinion about her body. In my opinion if you like your body and comfortable in it then you don’t care this much what others think.
Hancock knows what he wants and goes in full force to get it. He is quite rude and ill-mannered when you get on his wrong side and you definitely don’t want to mess with his superstitions. He has a strong bond with his family and a heavy attraction towards Sway.
They are really great and cute together; they don’t struggle when it comes to everyday life in a relationship and get into a routine easily.
I really liked the secondary characters too. Another thing why I love Lani Lynn Vale’s books is because of the phenomenal families and bonds she creates which leads to amazing and funny secondary characters. And I think I see a series coming about not just the other players in this story but about Hannibal and his team too.
I wanted to love this book but the plot fell a little bit short for me in terms of intensity and action. Otherwise a great start to a new series and I’m really curious about the next books.
P.S. I love epilogues but this story’s just disappointed me.

I have been hearing about how wonderful Lani Lynn Vale’s books are, so when this sport romance came across my screen I easily decided to take a shot and discover a new author. Pitch Please is Vale’s first title in her There’s No Crying in Baseball series.

Vale starts out HOT with her characters Hancock and Sway. If you are looking for a sport romance that sizzles, then stop reading my review and just go one click. Vale lights up your kindle with these two’s chemistry. Sassy, curvy, Sway is everything Hancock wants but can’t have. Hancock tempts Sway teasing her with his delicious lips and tantalizing muscles making it hard for her to resist him.

While it contains all the heat and chemistry you wish for in a romance, I was hoping for a bit more depth. The two characters fully supported one another and while it’s nice to catch a break from romantic drama, it also kinda fell on the sizzling sex scenes to carry it through. Any drama that was created did seem a bit silly, high schoolish in ways. I feel with a little bit more depth this story could well be on its way to a 5 star read.

While there were some things I wasn’t a huge fan of, Vale still proved why she was an author to one click. Hancock and Sway’s characters were intense, but fun. Their chemistry alone is worth the one click. If you are looking for a sexy, sporty read, then go ahead and one click this one!

OHHHHH MYYYYYY!!

Y'all.. Lani Lynn Vale has crossed into the world of sports romance. *angels sing in the background* This makes me so happy. So very happy.
Pitch Please is the story of grumpy Hancock "Parts" and Sway. Parts is the MLB player and Sway is the voluptuous trainer for his team. She is also his biggest fan and has been for many years.
Probably for me at least, the best thing about this story was the character development. I absolutely loved watching Parts and Sway start off meeting at the field and their relationship grow. LLV has a way of making me as a reader feel like im watching it all unfold in real time. The banter was witty, the jokes were clever and of course the sexy was super steamy! There were some serious times though, that brought in some drama and emotion - not enough to cause angst, but it definitely caught and kept my attention for the period.
A great, GREAT beginning to this new series!! Parts has several brothers, including a twin - im hoping that each of the brothers get a story (at least Hannibal) and let's not forget Sway's brother. If not the brothers, then several of the teammates (it IS a sports series after all) because one book in... and im hooked!

I've been following Lani Lynn Vale for as long as i can remember and love how she takes a genre and makes it her own, as though sh'e been writing it from the very beginning. Picking up Pitch Please, i wasn't sure what to expect, especially considering that i had grown attached to her MC genre, and i have to say, this author absolutely knows how to surprise her readres and show just why she's a well rounded writer!

4.5 sexy dreams

This book had it all - romance, humor and unexpected action that i wouldn't expect from a baseball game (but that's probably because i really don't understand what the game is all about!). knowing this is a new series, it made Pitch Please as an introduction even the more sweeter since it only made it even more interesting as to where she'll bring it in the upcoming novels. I can't wait to read more about these characters and this baseball team, and for sure i'll be impatiently waiting for the next books that Lani Lynn Vale will be releasing!

Hancock Peters and Sway Coffman are a dynamic team in this new series. We have the Lani-isms as I call it and that keeps the pages turning. Hancock is brass and crude but likable in an odd way. He is definitely a strong male lead and has his reasons for the jerk outwardly character.

Sway has beat out the men determined to get the job as head trainer for the Texas Lumberjacks and now proving herself is going to be harder than she ever imagined. Her appearance isn't the easiest to deal with either ... makes for an interesting combo.

I did like the story but I will be honest I wasn't head over heels with the constant fat girl comments. I know the author was trying to make a point that big is beautiful which it is but it was a little too much. I felt like it ended up sounding more sarcastic than pulling for the bigger girl although I know again that is not the case as I have read Lani numerous times over.

Click it up and see what you think. I'll read the next in the series for sure as I love her work. This one is good but not her best. Thank you for the ARC. ~ Amy

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

This was my first book from Ms. Valencia but definitely won't be my last. I found her writing style to be flawless, entertaining, and she can capture you with just a few words. I was hooked on this story from the beginning to the end. The characters and the secondary characters were just made for you to fall in love with them. I love how she wrote about "The bigger girl " and how Shaw didn't let really effect her self esteem when others brought it up. I love Hancock would put people in their place about it.

Hancock is a professional baseball player who has it all, but one thing love. He hates being in the spot light and refuses to have his picture taken. When some woman...aka Shaw is sitting in his seat in the dug out, he basically practically falls in love with her. Shaw is the new athletic director who has a crush on Hancock for years. When these two start a friend, can they have more?

I can't wait to read more from this series and this author.

I just loved this book! It a story about Hancock, a professional baseball player, who has a reputation of being a hot head and living with no filter and Sway, the new head athletic trainer. Sway has already had a crush on Hancock as a baseball star. She had his pictures on her wall. But she isn't some love sick groupie. Hancock may not be a fan of most people but he definitely is a fan of Sway. Then the fun starts. Both of these strong characters had me cracking up. Their interaction and banter back & forth was entertaining. And I found myself falling for Hancock as well. The author does a great job on making him the readers new crush. But she also makes the reader a fan of Sway. She isn't some carbon copy barbie doll. She is a strong, real woman who isn't ashamed of her curves. I found myself relating to her.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read about hunks and strong women. And if you are also a baseball fan too. This book was totally my type. I hope there is more to come!

Of course I enjoyed this LLV sports genre story !! I have always enjoyed her MC style and although sports is pretty different she was still able to bring all things I love about her style to the plate. There is heat , there is a bit of drama and of course there is funny jokes and banter which is my favorite when it comes to LLV !! She always has mad jokes in her stories.

Sway is the head AT for the Lumberjack baseball team and Parts is the onary star player NOT looking for a girl to love !! The interest is there , the connection is too and we won't discuss the sexual tension because I need to keep the review clean...
On top of this being a story of 2 people falling in love there is also a twist that comes to the story and a bit of suspense/drama that could have potential to ruin what Sway and Parts have built for themselves and together. The cover was great for providing visuals and I look forward to more in this series !!

This is a sports book that actually has sports in it and that's always a good sign. The author didn't go over board with the drama but the drama they did have was never something I would have even guessed. That's not easy to do, but I love a book that can keep me guessing.

Sway is a every confident women that has went after the job she wanted and got it. I really like that's she's even confident about her body most of the time. When she started she never thought that Hancock 'Parts' would giver tiger the time of day much less talk to her. Hancock is a start player on his team and very superstitious. Sway quickly becomes part of that superstition. He's strong sexy a little scary and kind of an ass to other people just not Sway.

Jumped around too much making it an annoyance to follow. I felt like the characters had very little development and there was very little chemistry between the two of them. The book was a HUGE disappointment. I've only ever returned a book for a refund 2 times previously and if I had not bought this book from credits I had, then I would have definitely returned it.

I highly enjoyed this one!! It satisfied my baseball loving heart. I liked all the characters even the antagonists. Vale did a great job writing them. This book had me laughing quite a lot. I really liked Sway. She's relatale and so likable. I loved Hancock and Sway together. They just fit and boy did they have a ton of chemistry. To me this was a well rounded and written book. It was hard for me to put this one down to get some sleep. It's one of those books you want to keep reading, but dread to finish because you don't want it to end. Also Hancock is a catcher. Just ask my friends and family I have a soft spot for catchers so that just this book all the more enjoyable to me.

O… M… F… GOOOOOODDDDD!!! Talk about a true GRAND SLAM!!!

It’s the truth, Ladies and Gentlemen, Lani Lynn Vale has yet again knocked out of the park! She did it in Contemporary Romance, she did it in MC Romance, and she did it again, with PNR, so I shouldn’t be the least bit surprised when she gives us this brilliant Sports Romance Debut! Seriously, talk about a Midas touch, this story was sporty romance perfection, and you NEED to get Hancock and Sway’s story STAT! You won’t want to miss my new fav LLV Hero (big emphasis on the MINE part, because I’m calling dibs on this HOT piece of bearded and tattooed deliciousness!) !!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Lani Lynn Vale is known for her military, emergency services, and MC books, so this is totally different than any of her other books. I've been (im)patiently waiting for this release since she announced it was coming. It was completely worth the wait!
On the outside, Hancock is a gruff, tough, no nonsense baseball player that lives for the game. Underneath, he is a teddy bear that was just waiting for the right woman to bring out his softer side. Sway is a strong, beautiful woman that is confident in who she is, even if she is a little body-conscious. Together, they make an unstoppable couple.
Unlike any of her previous releases, this book focuses on a professional baseball player and his team's Athletic trainer. Sounds like it's gonna be boring compared to her previous action packed books, right? I mean, how much trouble could a MLB player and an athletic trainer get into? WRONG! It wouldn't be a LLV book if there wasn't action, danger, fantastic rescues. Add in romance, family, and the kind of loyalty that all of her books are based on and you have the beginnings of another amazing, swoon-worthy series by LLV.

There are some authors that can go from one genre to another and it crashes and burns. Lani Lynn Vale IS NOT ONE OF THOSE AUTHORS. She has nailed it with Pitch Please. I won't lie I did wonder if this would be hard for her, but it wasn't and like her Dragon series she has hit this one out of the park.

Hancock is just what his name says he is cocky and has an attitude the side of California. But he's passionate about baseball and nothing is going to stand in his way. He doesn't do anything he is suppose to do like other players. He's there to play the game and loves what he does. When the new trainer comes in he will do his best to ignore her. Sway lives up to her name for sure. She is the new trainer and doesn't take any one's crap and is sassier than ever. It's her spunk and sass that you fall in love with. When these two meet it's hilarious and their chemistry is very interesting. Now these two fight what they want, because they know they can't have it. Will Baseball come between them? Or will Hancock and his attitude?

What an awesome read, absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be looking for the next book in this series. This was a beautiful love story with more than a few steamy scenes. There was a great story that kept me read way to late but I couldn't put it down.

The chemistry between Sway and Hancock is bubbling over from the first time they meet. He is a baseballer, ruled by superstition, and she is sitting in his seat in the dugout. Quickly his superstitions include a pregame kids and things heat up from there.
