Among the Barons was a great and invigorating sequel to the second book in the Shadow Children series. Among the Barons is the third book in the series. Luke, Lee Grant under his fake identity, has to endure obstacles with Smits the real Lee Grants brother. Lee is forced to go live the Grant's but does not know their intentions. He finds out that they want Luke to stage Lee's death and if he doesn't will be punished.

Luke was in hiding since he could remember till he met a girl. He went to a secret school he has a new brother and a rich family. It's about the best book I've read compared to her other works. I love this book and it would get into one of the best books in my opinion.
If you like mystery sad stories you should read this book called Among the barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

u need reed this book 2 get the flow of the seriz. gives foreshadowing for what is about to come in "among the brave"

the next book in line. very suspenseful, hooked me so fast and so long, i didn't put it down till i finished. after reading this

book go straight into "among the brave" so da adventurous story can go on. don ask questions, just get it and reed it.(unless ur those type of people who think adventures and action is superfluous) or u just don like those kinda novels ...u wunt wanna reed this book cuz its all adventure and action.

Okay, I just finished reading this book, it was really great. And Im getting sad that there is only 1 more book left to the serious, I wonder if it will go on from then.. anyways, This book has to be one of the best, it introduced more of the outside world and showed more characters.. such as Smits.. I personally favored him ;) And this story took attention *People like me usually dont like to read, but these *Shadow Children* books are like me with the harry potter books, they make me want to read them.... they are that good.. If you like adventure, suspense, and action all in one this book is for you.. (If you loved the first 2, you'll love this one!)

Wow words cannot even describe how great and captivating this book is. It keeps you guessing the whole way through. A good book should be a thrill ride and this was!!!!! I mean hey wat r u doing still at your desk reading this get out and Buy It NOW!!!!!!

this shadow book is very exciting and intresting. IT IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS, BUT THATS NOT A BAD THING. THE OINLY THING I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT THE FACT THat it was different is because practically nothng happens at school.

Among the Barons didn't disappoint me. It was one of the best in the Shadow Children series. It was so much more suspenseful and especially the ending was gripping. There was more danger and action. I didn't like Smits though, he was too whiny. The barons make me angry because people are starving and they just throw their extra food away! Most of the book was really good though! I really liked it and I plan to read the other books in the series.

Margaret Peterson Haddix's book Among the Barons is simply amazing! Being the 4th book in the series about "shadow children" it keeps you guessing till the very end. Believe me, once you pick up this book you won't wan't to put it down. Haddix's writing makes you feel like you're actually in the story! All in all this book is a have to read , never wan't to put down book!

i thought this book was awsome my teacher mrs.Estes let me read it shes my favorite teacher if you wanna no if margeret is going to come out with another book she is it will be called among the brave.

"L" is surrounded by many characters, and this book is admittedly most worthy of a film in the following of books such as Harry Potter's series. "Barons" had interesting dialouge, but it tends to drag on. Tends to have stereotypes about social classes, particularly the rich aka barons. However, this book isn't as great as the other books in the Shadow series. Hint: Buy the cheapest one you can find online.

Imagine if your brother came to see you at school, and he wasn't your brother. What would you do? This story is about a third child named Luke Garner. The problem with being the third person born in your family is that third children are illegal. In the first book Luke got a fake identity, Lee Grant. The real Lee Grant had a brother and two parents. Lee's brother was Smithfield Grant. Smithfield or Smits comes to see Luke. A big factor about the Grants is that they are Barons. The barons used all the city's supplies so the city doesn't have enough. As a result they said only two children can be born in a family. That's why the book is called Among the Barons. When Smits gets to Hendricks School for Boys, Luke is worried he might realize that Luke is not Lee. Then he could turn him in to the population police. But Smits doesn't seem to notice. After Smits gets settled in, Luke takes Smits on a tour of the school. When they get to the woods, Smits tells Lee to do something very important. What does he tell Luke? Will it affect Luke? Will Luke get turned into the population police? Read the book and find out. Margaret Peterson Haddix does a good job with the suspense and ending. I'm sure you will be pleased.

yet another great novel from margaret peterson haddix! ALL of her books are great. I've read the Shadow Children series, Running Out of Time, and Turnabout, and they're all very good. Her stories are all very thought-provoking and are so twisted and yet, based on so much truth that the events seem very possible to happen in the future. i can't wait until Among the Brave comes out in May, the sequel to among the barons.
