This telling of a fantastical saga through time and among feary races was exhilarating! Action packed, it was a heartfelt story of deep love, friendship and the bond of shared hardship. A fantastic read, I never wanted it to end!!

Thus was worth every penny. It started off a little slow but was truly a saga worth reading. The last third was hard to put down. The whole thing together... just really good and hard to explain.. totally recommend it!

This book was a completely different kind of story than I'd read before. The ideas and the world developing stands out from several other books of it's kind. It was a good slow book to read when I had time with my busy schedule. Very well developed world and characters.

Excellent book considering its large size. A good many books this long get weak in the plot toward the middle of the story. This is not the case with "Elven". The author did a great job of keeping all the characters interesting and current with the timeline of the story.

Follow the adventures of Farodin and Noramon, elves descended from the Alben, and Norseman, Jarl Mandred, through time and space, as they fight evil. An epic swords and magic story, a worthy comparison to Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Elven engages the reader from start to finish. If you like fantasy this is a book not to be missed.

This is a rather lengthy book, which is something that I enjoyed as it gives the reader time to get into the story and appreciate it. It mostly follows the epics of three characters, a human and two elves, starting with their hunt for an evil creature from which the rest of the story is spun.
The beginning is a bit slow and there is quite a bit of material to assimilate, but once you are past this initial phase, the reading is quite enjoyable. The characters are reasonably well developed and the style and tensions are reminiscent of the Lord of the Ring, though the story line is original and very different from Tolkien's trilogy. The book is structured in connected but separate stories with additional secondary characters added at each stage, and a last "chapter" that ultimately brings together the different threads that had been woven throughout the preceding chapters. It is well done with few if any minor inconsistencies and the ending brings satisfying closure to the story, while at the same time leaving open the possibility of a sequel based on one of the main characters, but not one that is based on lingering questions left open at the end of the book (something I always find annoying).

I gave the book five stars in spite of a somewhat choppy beginning (it took me a while to get into the story), in part because of its originality and the fact that once it has taken off, it is able to sustain the reader's interest all the way to the end.

I was very impressed with the length of this book. So many books are shorter than required papers in a masters program in college. Good character development, tied up loose ends, and well written. I kept expecting the story to flatline but, it never veered in that direction. It could be a stand-alone book, or the first in a series of books. I would definitely purchase another book by this author.

The book was wonderfully written, it keeps you on your toes with it's use of time displacement, trolls, elves, dwarves and humans in a battle to save their world from a really bad demon wannabe. Great read

Loved the story, many nights spent reading, the size of the book did not make for any dull sections. The novel is complete but in many ways i wish it would continue with the new adventures of the remaining elf.

Chronic sleep depravation......what a book!!!! loved every minute. Although it was a long book, everything was so well interwoven it was easy to keep pace and keep track of the characters. Very easy reading. If you like elves and magic, this is a must.

Liked all of the characters they were well rounded and believable. The story was good and I enjoyed the twists and turns in it. The battles were interesting and I felt I could see them happening. I would recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Interesting, well written story. A bit dark wherein evil is never completely vanquished. Be prepared to have favored characters die, sometimes in very unpleasant ways. Probably won't read anymore in the series, but it is a good story if you like things along the lines of the Hobbit.
