Love ALL things Abbi Glines!!!!! Great follow up to Mase & Reece's story. I love peeking in to see how all of characters I've come to love are doing. Can't wait for the next installment of heat & drama!!!

This story just kept getting better and better as it went along ..Reese is a shy girl who learned to trust and Mase had to learn how do the right things..it's a short book so sit down and enjoy this sweet love story and just enjoy it

I usually avoid giving a bad review but this book was so disappointing that I don't think I have an option. I know Reese had a very difficult time growing up but she is a mess through the whole book and it never got better. To be honest the book was totally forced every situation and character was stretched to the max, I guess it's too much to ask for one book that has the entire story, this book was a total waist of money.

2.5 STARS
This book has me conflicted. I feel terrible for giving one of my favorite authors such a low rating but please, hear me out.
I love my Abbi Glines fiercely. She is a wonderful author I always enjoy coming back to.
Yet, her books seem to end up being the same all the time just with different storylines and dramas. It's frustrating to me.
I'd rather she didn't release so many books in a year with flat characters and instead focuses on a deep story. The name 'Abbi Glines' isn't enough anymore. It doesn't automatically equal a good book and I, personally, have higher expectations now. Especially for that price.
Her female characters are always helpless, always quiet and insecure, questioning EVERYTHING.
Reese isn't any different. Although she did have moments(two, if I recall correctly) that had me wooting 'You go, girl', there was simply too much 'little wallflower with no opinion' going on. There were moments that gave the perfect opportunity for her to go out of her shell but instead - and I quote 'I kept quiet'. NO! Don't keep quiet. Don't swallow it down, love. LET IT OUT.
Also what's up with [getting so many of Abbi's characters pregnant? Blaire, Harlow and Reese. Is Birth Control not existent in the Rosemary Beach Series? I know accidents happen but it's like she doesn't know how to push a story forward and uses pregnancies to stir a little more drama. (hide spoiler)]
I would have wished for deeper conversation, real discussion like normal adults do. Reese always 'kept quiet'. Stuff went down, Mase acted like a douche (which is okay. We all do sometimes) and she had a total meltdown. Why woman? I get that she's had a rough past (like all the female characters) but damn, show some strength. Tell him off, argue for God's sake! ARGUE!
It is not character strength to take the blame for everything. Are there ever real fights with a little bit of yelling? Please make it happen, Abbi. I'd love to see one of your characters get into her hero's face - eyes flaming, blood boiling. That kind of thing. IT's hot!
So far they are all little weaklings, who - quite frankly - make me wonder what so many (obviously attractive) guys see in them.
Also, the constant jumping from one scene to another had my had spinning. One day she's in Chicago, the next in Texas, suddenly in Rosemary Beach, back in Texas,...whaaaat is happening.
Nevertheless it was a nice book. A sweet read, just not...fulfilling. I loved the first book because it showed Mase's wonderful character even if it was still the same as others from the RB-Series (rich guys, poor weak traumatized girl) but I'm not that picky. I'll still read Abbi's books because - hello? It's Abbi. I just wish she'd give us a little more to chew on.

The Rosemary Beach series is one of my favorite series of all time. It is like watching Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest with a side of 90210. The characters are engaging, hilarious, hot and generally keep you coming back for more. Mase and Reese do not disappoint. Make sure to read When I’m Gone first since this is the second part of their story.
After living through her horrible past, Reese seems to be getting her happily ever after. Being tortured by her mother and stepfather as well as dyslexic didn’t stop her from surviving and making a good life for herself. Plus, she has the love of a good man, Mase, and a family she didnt’ know she had.
In When You’re Back, Reese has moved in with Mase and things seem to be going well except Mase’s cousin Aida is visiting. Aida isn’t what she seems and causes problems for the couple. Aida isn’t technically related to Mase by blood and wants Mase for herself. On top of that, Reese is bored and wants a job and to finish her GED. Mase wants to keep her close but knows she needs to spread her wings. She gets hired by a local at a ranch to handle administrative work and she loves that she is handling it so well.
Of course, another setback comes into play in the form of River Kipling. He meets Reese at a party and Mase immediately gets bad vibes and he works at the ranch where Reese just got a job. Reese doesn’t like the way he flirts and insinuates that Mase doesn’t take care of her.
She handles River pretty well but unfortunately, the crowd from Rosemary Beach gets into the mix. Mase is called away from Texas to handle his father Kiro and the check on his sister Harlow. And of course, while he is away, Reese has doubts and River just helps them right along.
This is an Abbi Gline books so we always get our HEA but we never know how we will get there. Mase and Reese are absolutely adorable together and I enjoyed their moments together as a couple. I have loved Mase from the first time he showed up in Harlow and Grant’s books. Mase is everything you want: understanding, protective, not too overbearing and downright sexy. He has a rock star father but he isn’t into the fame and fortune. He makes his own way in the world and takes care of his family including Reese.
Reese and Mase were a nice addition to the Rosemary crowd and it was nice to enjoy their storyline in Texas. It also introduced us to River/Captain as well as Major. I am hoping both these boys get their own books. Til next time Rosemary Beach….

When You’re Back is the continuing story of Mase and Reese in the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines. It picks up about 3 weeks after When I’m Gone ends and we find Reese headed to Texas to be with the man of her dreams Mase. If you read my review from the previous book, you know that I absolutely fell hard for Mase and Reese’s love story. I was so excited to get more from this couple because for me, they were simply amazing.
I really liked the way Abbi wrote their story. With a bit of angst and a bit of jealousy created by outside characters, Mase and Reese had a bit of work cut out for them navigating trying to finally be together, but like in their first book they really worked it all out well. Sometimes in a love story there doesn’t need too much running away from problems and I loved that Abbi really let these two personalities shine and true to themselves work things out realistically. Reese and Mase have a love that felt very pure to me, one that I can see lasting a very long time.
In When You’re Back we get a lot of secondary character plotlines, and since I adore all the Rosemary Beach clan it was great seeing them all again. I felt like we got to really catch up on where everyone was and what they are doing and I am so anxious to see how Captain is going to fit in this equation. If we thought Abbi wrote Nan as a mean girl, watch out because there is another viper on the loose and her name is Aida…wow Abbi ~ I wanted to throttle her a time or two, or maybe 10! You have really nailed down writing a girl to hate so very well!
For all you Rosemary Beach fans, sit back and enjoy Reese & Mase. They are still one of my favorite couples of this series and are really heating up the sheets and the pages of my kindle! I love how with over 12 books in this series, I am still loving this group and craving so much more of Rush and the other residents of Rosemary Beach. Great job Abbi!!

This book wasn't worth reading. Granted, it wasn't as bad as some of Abbi's previous books where I couldn't even finish it. I did finish this one but ended up skimming some stuff towards the end since I just wanted to get it over with. This one was pretty predictable. Plot spoiler but you could see this coming a mile away: There's Mase's cousin, Aida, who has a huge crush on Mase. But she clearly wasn't a threat at all. It wasn't even fun to read though what she would do. I didn't even break a sweat. (Why couldn't it be like Vincent Brothers where my heart was breaking?) There's this guy who was chasing after Reese (I can't even remember his name but I'm pretty sure he'll probably get his own book later on)-- again, clearly not a threat and I had 0% doubt that he would scratch Mase's & Reese's relationship.
The sex was so-so. I guess because Mase and Reese were already together, there was really no anticipation anymore. More like a been there, saw that type of deal LOL
Recommendation: If you're really in love with Mase and Reese then sure, why not, but I would say Don't Read if you're already on the fence about them.

Reese has returned from her trip, ready to move forward with Mase. Things aren't as easy as they would like them to be. Enter jealous Aida and handsome Captain making things difficult around every turn.
I was really looking forward to this book after how the last one ended. I was expecting so much from this story...
I didn't really get it. I am not going to lie. It was a cute book. However, it didn't flow and seemed forced. I questioned many times throughout the book if Abbi even wrote it. The writing wasn't there like it usually is with her.
There was a ton of filler in this one. I could have done without all of the unnecessary information that didn't pertain to the book. It seemed like it was there to give the book some padding.
I have agonized over this review. I knew that it would be hard for me to completely positive. It just wasn't an Abbi book, and I struggled to finish it. I am sure there will be plenty who love it, however I didn't.
If you read the previous book, you will definitely want to read this so you can get the rest of the story. If you plan to continue the series, definitely read this, as I have a feeling there is some foreshadowing of the next couple of books.

In When I'm Gone, the immediate precursor to When You're Back, Mase Colt-Manning becomes captivated by Reese Ellis, and by one particular part of her anatomy. (and its not any of the typical ones). Reese has a freckle just below her left butt cheek that's clearly visible when she's wearing shorts, and, if you think like a guy, and download the cover image, and zoom in real close ... no freckle.
Where's the attention to detail? (and from Mase's point of view at least, that's an important detail.)
But, as they say, you can't judge a book by its cover, and while the cover might be of a girl without a freckle, the book is surely about the girl WITH the freckle.
I've read all of Abbi's Sea Breeze and most of the Rosemary Beach series and, while I enjoyed this one a lot, I'm not going to give it five stars. This one just gets four.
While I loved the story, and was excited that she took the series in directions not seen before, there were more than a few places where the book just seemed ... disjointed. I had the impression that different sections were written at different times and not enough attention was given to making sure those sections meshed seamlessly with each other.
That said, new directions is definitely a big plus to counteract that negative. We have a murder. Apparently one in a long string of murders, though they're only mentioned in passing. We also have what appear to be brushes with the world of organized crime. Hopefully these set up future books in this series, or possibly in a spin off series, to head in different directions beyond the tried and true formula of the last 11 books.

I absolutely loved Mase and Reese in their first book When I'm Gone. Now they are ready to continue their relationship together as she relocates to Texas. They have been through a lot together and are committed and in love. Unfortunately there are some new outside influences who would like nothing more but to split them apart and claim one for their own.
I have adored Mase all along. He's protective, loyal, dependable, sweet, and sexy. He always took care of his sister Harlow, and now he takes care of his girl, Reese. But he could be a little clueless about things going on around him at times. But he really is the good guy.
Reese is determined, loving, and still a bit naive. She has lived through a horrible past, but Mase helped her heal and grow. But she is now in a new place, still coming into her own, and learning to believe in her abilities. She has a sweetness and innocence about her, but at the same time she has a backbone and quiet strength.
They are such a sweet, sexy couple when they are together. You can just feel their love, devotion, and need. But due to the interventions of others trying to cast doubts, they have to continue to build trust, prioritize, face demons, and insecurities. And Reese especially is still growing and changing her own life and trying to find her own path. She has new family and new purpose in her life, but is sometimes swayed by others' opinions or manipulation.
I liked getting more with Mase and Reese, but at times it seemed like there was some contrived drama. I got a bit frustrated with communication issues and the way that in trying to be protective of each other they ended up making bigger mistakes.
The side characters of his "cousins" Aida and Major were prevalent in this story and Blaire's brother "Captain" also was a big part of it. I expect we will be seeing more with Captain and Major in future stories in Rosemary Beach. Even though they could be outspoken, arrogant, rude, and obnoxious...I kind of liked both of the guys. Captain especially seemed to have some hidden aspects to his personality and life. Now Aida, I had no fondness for whatsoever. She definitely gives Nan a run for her money with annoying female characters. The frequent interference of these characters really added to the drama of the story.
But I loved that many of our friends from Rosemary Beach, along with Mase's Texas family, Reese's new Chicago family, and Slacker Demon make appearances.
Even though Mase and Reese might be the least dramatic of the Rosemary Beach couples, they still have been through a lot together, but still had some new challenges to navigate in their new relationship. There were a few surprising twists in the story, while some things I found a bit predictable. The ending seemed a bit abrupt with a couple of things left hanging, but there were some possible set ups for future stories. Abbi has announced plans for Captain's book, a novella for Dean Finlay (Rush's father), and Nan's book to finish out the series. I am addicted to this series and all of these characters and it was a comfy read for me. I know I can pick up one of these books and get sucked into this world with old friends and enjoy spending time with them.

Gline's has her writing down almost to a science. I know when I pick up one of her novels that it will be steamy, sexy, and loving... with just enough drama to keep the pages turning.
If I had one complaint, I just wish she could go back to telling her stories in one novel. I'm pretty fortunate in that my public library has her books on insta order the second she announces them, so I can get on the waiting list the same day and not have to wait to read, but yet again we are left with a HFN ending, thus giving the author some wiggle room to write another book. I thought Mase and Reese's story was just a 2 parter, but with how the book ended, I'm not sure if this just left it open for a linked character's story, or if there will be a 3rd novel for this couple.
I didn't remove a star for this, because that is unfair to the author as it is simply a personal preference of mine and is in no way a reflection of her talent. I know a lot of people who love a good HFN ending, and usually I do, too. But I miss Gline's style that she has for her other series, where one couple gets one book.
But all in all, this book gets 5 stars from this (darn near) completely satisfied reader.

After surviving a long distance relationship, meddling siblings and her traumatic past, Reese Ellis has got her man and the future is looking good. She and boyfriend Mase Colt-Manning are madly in love and ready to start the next chapter of their lives in Texas. But things are never that easy. Mase's cousin sees Reese as competition and a newcomer to the scene threatens Reese and Mase's relationship.
There's something very comforting about an Abbi Glines read. You know you're going to get racy romance, devastatingly hot alpha males, and a dash of potentially relationship ending drama. Whilst you know things are going to be okay at the end (I don't count this as a spoiler - it's a romance novel. This is a given) Abbi's books are all different enough to keep you hooked until the last page.
In When You're Back, the eleventh installment to the Rosemary Beach series and the second book in Reese and Mase's relationship, there is a lot to keep readers entertained. Reece has grown since we first met her in When I'm Gone. She's more confident and starting to live her life to the full. After finding happiness in Mase's arms, Reece isn't going to let him go without a fight. I like how maturely she handled the Aida situation. Mase's cousin clearly made Reece uncomfortable but instead of demanding Mase choose between them she was rational and had faith in Mase's feelings for her.
Despite this book switching points of view between Mase and Reese each chapter, I felt this book was more about Reese than it was about Mase. He's supportive and (over)protective, swoon worthy and wonderful but Reese was what made this novel for me. After the cliffhanger at the end of When I'm Gone we get to see Reese and her new family. She has to deal with living in a new state as well as finding her place in her father's family - as well as in Mase's family.
There's a tall dark and handsome newcomer River who added plenty of mystic and drama for the leading couple and I loved seeing Reese's interactions with him. The appearances from many of Rosemary Beach's favourite characters were very welcome and it was nice checking in with them to see how their lives are now they have found love.
The romance in When You're Back was perfect for Reese and Mase. It's sensual and sexy with the spark between the two being very much alive. These are two characters who I enjoyed reading about because as much as I liked reading about them as a couple, I loved they were still their own people with their own lives as well.
If you like Abbi Glines novels - you will love When You're Back. This book is a great addition to the Rosemary Beach series and it has made me eager to see what Abbi writes next!

My Thoughts:
Abbi Glines continues to deliver! As one of my auto-buy authors, I have never been disappointed in one of her stories. I know I'm in for a sizzling, sexy, hot page turner, when I pick up a book by this author. In, When You're back, the love story of Mase Colt Manning and Reese Ellis continues.
Reese has been separated from Mase for almost month while she has been visiting her newly discovered biological father's side of the family. She decides she can't be separated from the man she loves any longer, and surprises Mase when she shows up in Dallas. However, Reese is the one with the surprise when she discovers, Aida, Mase's clingy "cousin" who acts like she wants Mase all to herself.
Simultaneously, Blaire's brother "Captain" like's what he see's when he looks at Reese, and thinks that Mase doesn't deserve her. He is determined to win Reese over, and has no problem flirting, or speaking his mind about what he perceives to be Mase's shortcomings.
When You're Back, reminded me of why I fell in love with Mase to begin with! He is one of the sweetest, sexiest, and most adoring cowboy's that I have had the pleasure of meeting. It might have taken him longer than I wanted for him to realize that Aida was up to no good, but that's because there isn't a mean, or manipulative bone in his body! Reese is a strong, and mature woman. I would have pulled Aida's hair out or wiped her conniving grin off of her face eventually, but Reese had faith in her man!
Mase and Reese are absolutely adorable as a couple. They love and respect one another, and treasure what they have together. These two are soul mates, and not only do they have a deep emotional connection, but a downright erotic spark in the bedroom!
This story had a few plot twists; one of which was huge, and I never saw coming! I hope Captain gets his own story. I found him to be an interesting character, and still have some questions that pertain to him. I thought the ending of the story was really sweet and romantic. Even though it wrapped up Colt and Reese's story, I look forward to hopefully getting more of them as secondary characters.
My Rating:
Fans of the Rosemary Beach Series will be excited to know that we get many of our beloved characters in this story! It was especially wonderful catching up with Grant and Harlow, and my heart continued to break for Mase's biological father Kiro's situation with Emily. I give, When You're Back, by Abbi Glines, 4.5 Romantic Cowboy, Beautiful Love Story, Fairytale Ending Filled Stars!
