I was blown away. Awesome read. Finally a writer who can writes well, care about character development before introducing a sexual relationship (of any kind), and knows just when to make the scenes hot and interesting. I like that I wasn't reading porn...it was an actual book with a great story, and she made the reader crave for those intimate scenes that she wrote so well and at the right time. I was on edge for her next book to come out!

Before i review, please know that this is the first 'Dark Erotic' novel i have read. So here it goes:
There are many parts of this story that i found so wrong. I remember learning things in psych classes about how 'love' can occur through trauma. This is almost an example. The girl already had a bit of a crush on him, and i was ok with that. However, then he grabbed her (when she caught him killing a man), knocked her out, and kept her as his hostage. This is where the problems for me. She continues to crush on him while at the same time begging him to let her go and trying to escape every time she is alone. And somehow she falls in love. I almost want to call this Stockholm syndrome, and maybe it officially was, but i could be exaggerating.
I thought that Aubrey Dark's writing was good, but i do not like the story. It disturbed me the whole time i read the book (except the first couple chapters). Again this is the first 'Dark' novel i have read so i can't fully say if this is a good novel in it's genre.

Gav has a secret. He stalks and then captures and kills men who beat and abuse their wives and/or kids. He has a darkness in him. A yearning that calls to him. One that insists he kill and torture the men who do the same. Gav believes the shadow will always be there forcing his hand. Kat lives a quiet life. She's twenty-two and works at the college library. Her friend and co-worker Jules gives her a hard time about being boring and challenges Kat to kiss the next hot man she sees in the library.
Gav is at the library following his next victim. He's caught off guard when the pretty girl who works there throws herself at him in the elevator and kisses him. When she asks him out afterwards, he declines explaining he never dates. After successfully capturing his victim, Gav can't shake the feeling that he's forgotten something. He makes a return visit to the library, where without him knowing it, Kat follows him home. He then catches Kat watching him through a window as he's stabbing his victim. He takes Kat prisoner advising her that he'll never let her leave.
Both of these characters have abusive pasts and have lived their last few years mostly alone. When they're together however, they seem to find a type of comfort in the other person. The darkness stays away from Gav when he's with Kat. His need to kill isn't there, or at least it isn't as strong. Kat feels alive when she's near Gav, no matter how hard she tries to fight her body's reaction to him. She wants him even if she feels guilty about wanting a killer.
Overall, the book was good enough. It kept my attention and I wanted to know what would happen in the end. It's a standalone told from both POVs and has a happy ending.
The title suggests this book is an "erotic romance," but I would personally classify it more as a mild dark romance. There are only a couple of sex scenes between Gav and Kat and they're pretty tame considering scenes I've read in other books. There was nothing erotic about them.

This book was different. Not your typical flowers and happy romance book...although there was a romance to the storyline. You may find yourself actually liking the main character even though he is evil. The author somehow makes you feel sorry for him and makes you hopeful he will change his ways.

Pretty good book. It grabbed me from the start and I didn't stop until I finished the book all in a matter of hours. I loved the story line but I just felt slightly let down by the end of it, I felt the author could of given us a little more. The whole book was leading it up to it but I just felt it was a little rushed but still a good read overall.
