Beauty Never Dies Chronicles 1: Slumber

Oh wow, I half expected this book to be something on the lines of sleeping beauty but I was wrong. I love the concept on the story line as it is something I haven't read before. This is the first book I have read by this author although I do have some of their other books on my wish list. I can't wait to read more of their books and look forward to the next in this series.

Excellent start to a new series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, getting more and more into it as the pages flew by. Would love to see what comes next .

What an intreeging book, the characters are likeable and well written, the story line was developed and the chemistry between these two is undeniable. There's a few twists and turns along the way and a plot that will have you hooked from start to finish.

I just finished slumber. What an incredible book filled with romance, adventure, mystery and fantasy. JL Weil's new series is going to be a hit with all ages. So many plot twists, humor. A must read. What a fun adventure. I can wait to reading the second book in the series.

I received this book for a honest review! This book is a must read, Charlotte is one tough girl. After waking from 100 yrs of sleep, and being kissed from Dash. I love the twist between Snow White and Hunger Games. I highly recommend this book!

JL Weil had me mesmerized from the very beginning. Charlotte's pure heart in the midst of so much turmoil is refreshing to read. Dash's tortured soul is endearing. But the two of them together is breathtaking. I loved the back and forth between them. Can't wait for the second book, Entangled, to release!

Charlotte wakes up from a deep slumber and her whole world is turned upside down. Dash who turns out to have the key to her heart of her as she journeys into the unknown. Enjoyable read, with some twists, wasnt as predictable as I thought it would be.. looking forward to the next part.

I really loved this story, it was completely new and unique. The new earth after the mist, 100 years into the future. Dash, the dark and handsome bad boy, and Charlotte, the damsel in distress. Not what I was expecting, but very happy I picked up this book!

I love this exciting future world. Following Charlotte and Dash throughout the exciting quest to find their families, dodging the Night Guard, and all the other hazards is so awesome. I loved the banter between the two as they traveled. The twists that this story takes and the revelations are so exciting. I loved every second of this story and I have to read the next book because the ending was killer.

This story is continuously on the move. The interaction between the two main characters keeps the story moving along the slumber avenue. Enjoyed how the story unfolded but not the cliffhanger.......Can't wait to read more about the Diamond City and the people that run it.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy reader of this book, Slumber for an honest review. I absolutely loved Dash and Charlotte from the beginning once, I started the book. I'd never read The Hunger Games as it has been compared too but seen those movies not that it actually does the books justice, I'm sure but this type of book is not my usual read but figured, I would try it out and see if I liked it and I did! It captured my attention from the start with wonderment about Dash, what was he doing and why was he lurking around and then we meet Charlotte that's peacefully in slumber. Then things take off not only between the hero and heroine but this new world we find ourselves in and it's unusual and beautiful all at the same time and you find yourself wrapped up in everything trying to figure out what will happen next. The book is addictive once you begin and find yourself wanting more. Highly recommend!!

I received an ARC from the author and have chosen to review it. I really enjoyed this story it was easy to get caught up in it. I loved getting to know the characters Dash and Charlotte and I really enjoyed getting to see them get to know each other it was really fun to watch them come together in this world that is no longer like they knew it. The conversations that take place back in forth between them was really funny at times. I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series because it left you hanging and I absolutely hate that.

Slumber: Beauty Never Dies Chronicles by J.L. Weil is a dystopian YA novel with romance, danger and a touch of fantasy. In this book we are introduced to two characters: Dash and Charlotte. Dash has been wandering the lands looking for people who wake up from the Slumber that all of humanity has succumbed to for over 100 years. He comes across Charlotte in one of the places where the people are kept until they wake up…if they wake up. They have a Prince Charming moment of where he finds it hard to resist not kissing her and when he does she wakes up. Immediately they are on the run as the Night Guard chase after them for two reasons: 1) Dash is a wanted fugitive and 2) they want to capture and test Charlotte to see if she has any gifts that can be utilized for the “benefit” of humanity. But one look into her now rainbow colored eyes and there is no question as to whether she has any gifts or whether something about her has changed, it’s obvious. Now on the run can Dash and Charlotte evade the Night Guard and find the ones that they are looking for? What will become of them in this new world that has changed so much in 100 years?
In Slumber so much has changed. A strange mist was unleashed on the world and nothing is the same any more. The mist has altered everyone and everything that it touched. Humans now have unique abilities that they never had before and plants and animals are strange, beautiful and very deadly. The rules of the land are – if it’s beautiful it’s dangerous and will kill you. The animals have become more than what they once were and danger is on every side. Night Guard are part of a new order of government set up by those who crave power and were among the first to awaken from the mist. Charlotte is looking for her family but when the truth is revealed will she be able to handle it?
This for me was a really engaging book. I loved how strong Charlotte can be but at times her stubbornness can be a detriment which she soon learns but has to learn that lesson more than once. Dash is strong and with a past but he hides secrets that would be better served if out in the open. There is definitely chemistry between them but as to why Dash fights it so much is kept a secret until near the end. There are quite a few spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book that detract a bit from the story and the enjoyment of it but all in all it’s still an enjoyable read. You are given a glimpse into what happened 100 years ago which I really like and appreciate.
While it’s not perfect I still liked the book and I look forward to the next book in this series. All in all I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely a book to pick up if you’re looking for something unique and beautiful.
