This set of poems and short essays is delightful. They capture the spirit and beauty of dogs. Oliver writes the poems from both the dog's perspective and from the person's perspective. The poems allow you to feel what the dog is feeling and feel the love and wonder of the human.

For dog and poetry lovers, this is a wonderful read and a great gift. Mary Oliver is a gifted poet who sees straight into the hearts of dogs and describes the nature of the dog-human relationship touchingly.

Ohhh, I love this wonderful little book. I tried to read just one poem a day in the morning but I like them so much that it was hard to do. Mary really captures the spirit of living with dogs. In fact, I liked this book so much I bought a copy for a friend.

A delightfully insightful little collection of poems about the dogs in Mary Oliver's life: their personalities, joys, interests, as well as her attitudes toward them. Of course I liked this book, I never walk my white, curly-haired little dog on the lead, and although he gets his hair washed with children's shampoo, he remains looking like a dog. I love Mary Oliver's connection with the land, with nature, with dogs.

These are charming poems written by Mary Oliver about her own dogs. Many in the words of the dog have some profound thoughts.
Even if you don't like poetry, these are such fun to read. We loved it and bought it ffor our daughter and she enjoyed it too.

Wept my way through these wonderful poems - as a lover of dogs (and cats), this book touched my heart. Mary Oliver has long been a favorite poet of mine and this book is right at the top of my all-time favorites.
