Well-written and fairly fast-paced time travel novel with interesting concept of fabled Illuminati-like group. The storyline and characters are well-developed and the plot has good moments of excitement

Surprisingly attention grabbing despite massive plot holes, poor character and world building, and silly unbelievable "technology". I found myself slogging through the book in order to find out how the overall conflict was resolved, but wishing I could put it down and read something more well written.

All in all, these books and their author have potential, but need a great deal more polishing.

This book was interesting enough to keep me reading to the end of the trilogy but not enough to make me want to buy the next book. The third book in the trilogy stopped more than ended. Nothing was rapped up and I actually checked to see if I had a fully download book or if somehow the end part was missing. It has some interesting concepts but I don't buy books because the writer left the end hanging and I want to know what's next. Leaving the end hanging is the most frequent reason for me to not continue with a series.

I loved these books! Time travel, immortality, psionic gifts, I could't put it down. The pace speeds and slows, you get a kind of idea what living for 1000 years could feel like. I like the word choices and the 'voice' of the author. A definite read!

I really enjoyed this tale which takes you to the future and then back in history... interesting! The characters are likable and the first book is fast moving, the other two not so much, but still worth reading. I can also recommend the Emperor's Edge series!

Certainly an intriguing story. I want to see how the author resolves the time-loop problem. But, to my taste, the writing is too repetitious. It is as though the author gives no credit to the reader's ability to retain story line details. Too many unnecessary words!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the plot, characters, and tremendously intelligent construction via the utilization of all things past, present and future to add flesh to the bones of this series. Awesome tale superbly told!

What would the world be like if there was something that gave a few people an advantage over everyone else, would they have our best interests at heart, or would they be driven by a lust for power to rule the world. Would one be willing to stand against the many.

Over all, not bad... Definatly a bit strange, with some twists in logic; but then how could there not be with a topic such as this one. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters. Not a bad read if you find yourself between books, and just can't commit to a new one. Or figure out what genre has your interest at the moment.

I enjoyed reading all three books period I will most likely purchase the fourth book to find out what the ending is all about the. I agree the pacing in the second and third book could have been improved but overall I enjoyed it.

This is an interesting twist on magic/time travel. The story sort of resolves itself after volume 3, but it will take another four volumes to actually complete the tale. I'm not sure at this point if I want to invert another $20 of this story line.

I love apocalyptic sci-fi, but loved this book anyway. The characters are wonderful and you can't help rooting for Will and Hope. I can hardly wait to get my hands - no, my eyes - on the next book in the series.

Eternal life and powers beyond belief, ability to control the world but focus only on your group and your power. Not my usual read, probably ends here with these 3 books. The read was enjoyable though.

This epic set consumes one's life over the course of the story. Many of literary inventions are beyond today's technology yet entirely feasible, as is often the case with sci fi. In this case the sci fi is rather antique, quaint and enjoyable.

I have already bought 4 and 5 and zooming through them. The first 30 minutes of reading was slow but well worth it and as you keep going it is all tied back in. I love all of the characters and it is just full of life and just as you think that you have it all....ooops it is changed and has your mind racing in the opposite direction.

The Aliomenti Saga is quite possibly one of the most intriguing stories I've read in years. I have only read the first three books so far but I have purchased the fourth and will start it shortly.

The story is about a secret society which is organized in the 11th century. The members, predominately male, have developed physical and mental powers, including immortality, beyond that of normal humans. They use their powers to their advantage in growing what becomes a worldwide conglomeration of financial institutions.

There is a dark side though, the members must swear four draconian oaths, the violation of which can mean death by the Aliomenti assassin.

The protagonist, Will Stark, fights against these oaths and the leadership of the Aliomenti as head of the Alliance. A group who wants to open these supernatural gifts for the betterment of mankind.

The story is gripping, brutal and at times humorous. The only problem or feature that didn't ring truev is in the third book, Ascent of the Aliomenti, which takes place in the 11th century. The language begins with many examples of old English phrasing and vocabulary but quickly transitions to modern English without any explanation. While the modern English is easier to read and understand, the usage loses some of it's authenticity and in my opinion, detracts from the story.

It's for this reason alone that I only gave the books four stars.

The story is immediately interesting and held my attention from beginning to end. Not many books do that. You'd be wise to give this a try.

I bought this thinking it was a straight fantasy book. I was surprised to find out that it started in the future. What kept me reading was the Author's ability to hook me to the the story in the first chapter. Although this is not normally what I read, it has been a fantastic read up to this point. I have already purchased the rest of the series. I'm Very impressed with Alex Albrinck's writing style. A definite read!

Decent rendering of a VERY simplistic view of human nature and motivations. The ideas underpinning these stories are interesting and somewhat different from the usual fantasy fare. (IMHO) Suitable for ages 12+.

The books were well written, my rating is based on the lengthily descriptions of the construction of waterwheels, aqueducts, etc.. They detracted from the story line. At the end of book 3, the construction of the submarine was more concise and did not detract from the story.

Reviewing with the kindle app on a phone is painful. I read 130 pages an hour.. just go by the stars on the rating, because I can't handle typing something unique on this clumsy interface for the five or more books a day I read.

Very disappointing. I couldn't even make it through the first book. Very surprised by this after reading the other reviews. It just completely fails to engage the reader. Edit:After thinking about it I know what the issue is. It completely fails at pacing. The First scene in the book is told and retold from so many perspectives and then rehashed after the fact by characters thinking about it. It reminds me of books by novice authors who spend 10 pages describing a tree.

This is a remarkable journey through time! I have recommended this book to many friends. One doesn't need be a science fiction fan to become engrossed in this work. I look forward to reading book 4. I gave 5 stars because of the effortless manner in which the present, future, past and a journey across a thousand years was portrayed.

Not realizing the series is seven books long, they move extremely slow. Other than that it is an interesting story. And by book three, I'm into the story enough to want to read on but it took tenacity to trek through book one. Items are repeated very often

I really enjoyed the first 3 books of this series, though I did subtract 1 star because of the slow progression through the century's. Some of the concepts discovered by this group in olde world England, could have been found earlier by other (human) groups, the Romans for instance were master builders an made significant improvements in many areas, including the arts, medicine etc. But the earlier olde world English people would not have had access to their concepts, so that can be excused. One of the things I do find frustrating about Alex's story, is the groups continued safe guarding of their secrets and not sharing to better the general population. Arthur's continued psychological domination of the people and that he does not contributes anything to the groups welfare. Why would Will do nothing to stop or curb this character fault in Aruthur, when in the future he knows what is going to happen.

In this well developed story the living of the hero's personal code of honor is met with obstacles that intrigue the reader's view of history; make a romantic' s heart palpate and provides a lesson in nobility of character for today's society. This box set is a delight to read--- it has a need for some slight editing but not enough to distract from the joy of a good "read". Enjoy!
