I am better than 75% through and loving every minute of it. I live for any scenes between Barrons & Mac! Great series - I am very happy that I found this after all the books were completed because if I had to wait for the next book, I would have gone out of my mind! Thanks KMM for an awesome fantasy read.

So I started this series by downloading the first book when it was free. I figured what the heck it sounded ok and it was free. That was it after I was done with that book I KNEW I was in trouble. I could not put the books down!!!!! I read the whole series...or at least what is published in a matter of a week. It is a page turner, and you can't but help to get lost in the story. These were the first books that i read by Karen Moning, and I was not disappointed. I am recommending these series to everyone that I talk to. Only thing that is bad is that she leaves you hanging at the end of her books...I so can not wait till the next book comes out to find out what happens!!! Again I totally recommend this book!!!

When I was reading the reviews especially the one stars I was very hesitate to buy this book. Book I'm glad I stuck to my gut and bought it. It's amazing! Especially the part with Mac and her beast lol.

Could not stop reading. Mac, Barrons, V'lane, no way to not want to put his book down. It keeps you wanting to read more and more. The end almost rips you apart. Keep Shadow fever near for when you are done.

Good book. Still alot of questions. I was surprised to find that she only has 1 more book left in the series. There's so much she has to tie together. I hope she can do it. Thank goodness, I'll not have to wait for the end...Shadowfever is out. I'm only ltd to my reading speed! I've already gotten started!

I love this series and there is currently no equivalent I have found to match the complexity this series serves effortlessly. The nuances, tension, character development that unfold moments like a clear broadcast yet conceal so many motifs! This series does not fail and Dreamfever COMPOUNDS all of the what we have worked so hard to discover from the first three books! The stakes are impossibly higher, the danger is inconceivably lethal and the bonding is as tenuous as it is inevitable. I’ve never read a thriller that breathes its own suspense, strangling me in near madness! I’m serious! I yell and squeal when reading this book! Grinning moronically and laughing maniacally. Ugh I love it sooo much!
Rereading it is like starting completely new adventure since it’s been many years since I completed my first fever lap. I appreciate so many more details and am rewarded by keen insights. KMM showers readers with glimpses as to what will be while tittilating us with moments we are greedy for her to expound on.
This installation of the series is perfect. Many questions answered and many more raised. You won’t regret it! Of you haven’t read the ones previous or perhaps didn’t complete them somehow, be patient. You’ll be caught in a vise grip if you’re patient. This ain’t a book to read in a waiting room. This ain’t no instant romance. This ain’t no walk in a park. It’s a complete world, with life woven in its pages. I’m excited for Shadowfever as it has one more of my very favorite of all scenes in fiction! And then I can finally start Dani’s adventure and complete the fever saga!
Stay to the lights!

This author is one of my favorites and any chance i get to tell my friends about her (and strangers sometimes ) I totally do! She is in the top 3 of my favorites and they are all tied. Karen Marie Moning is right up their for with with Karen Chance and Christine Feehan.

This is a completely unusual series, one that does not conform to a standard template for a romance novel, but is engaging, even enthralling, nonetheless. At the center of the story is the identity of the mysterious Jericho Barrons (is that even his real name?). Is he a vampire, a werewolf, one of the Fae? Just how old is he? He is a man who never (rarely) reveals his feelings, and would seem to be loyal to no one.
Remember those Good Snape/Bad Snape arguments we used to have over the Harry Potter books? This series elicits such a heated discussion from readers bent on understanding the motives and character of Jericho Barrons.
The story is told, unusual for a romance novel, entirely from the heroine's POV. We rarely get even a glimpse of any other character's internal dialog. We only have the heroine - an unreliable narrator if there ever was one - and her interpretation of events as they unfold.
All of this can make for a unique and gripping reader experience, albiet one that requires that readers do a little work to understand the story. There is no omniscient narrator to wrap things up at the end, or explain the details as they unfold.
In this installment, we learn key information about the character of Jericho Barrons in a tender series of sex scenes written from the heroine's perspective as an emotionally damaged mental patient. We learn further important information about the biological parentage of the heroine (she's adopted, and we learn the name and motives of her mother and grandmother). We have a showdown between the heroine and a group of paranormally gifted women in a secret society, and we see the heroine choose between the two lovers who have been courting her through the previous installments.
It is a fabulously written new component of the story, and I'm sorry to read that other's don't find the hero particularly 'heroic' since by his actions he certainly has proven his worth to this reader. As with many of author KMM's hero's, many readers will find themselves wishing to run into Jericho Barron's in real life.

Bring on Savage Mac!!! If only the strong survive, then that's going to be Mac all the way! Pink and rainbows becomes black and red, or some mixture of all of the above. This girl is tough, and not afraid to do whatever it takes to reach her goals. Love it!

This book was definitely not my favorite. I struggled to fininsh it. Some parts carried me swiftly through like the past books but not by much. Dreamfever was a bit all over the place. One moment Mac was in Dublin the next she's transporting through Silvers. The transporting through Silvers reminded me a lot of the long ago series "Sliders". That whole section was a weird for me. I thought by this point some of my questions would be getting answered but apparently not, just more cliff hangers! I hope the next installment Shadowfever comes out sooner than later. I would recommend that anyone wanting to start reading the Fever Series wait until all books are out.

I love Karen. Her writing is nerve wrecking and all these cliff hangers makes me want for more, but to have to wait a whole year for another book is bad. Come on now. Let us have some more juice. Who is Jerico? and now I have to wait to find out who was killed. Arrgggggggg!!!! I hope they bring up the release date for the next book. I read that it is December 12th 2010. A whole year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me fever in the morning and fever all through the night! The Fever Series! Love KMM's style. Incredible characters, great plot, lots of action. I can't believe my luck that I did not hear about this series until this month thus missing the frustration with the cliffhangers and the long wait between books. I read all 4 and only have less than 2 months for the final story. I like this series so much that I will do a first ever event and buy a hardback new release. Loved this series so much that I actually visited the discussion boards for the first time and now I have a new list of authors I want to read. Thanks the store for this service. Thanks KMM for the entertainment!

This book had everything I was hoping for. It had a fantastic plot filled with fantasy, mystery, danger, sexual frustration, suspense and the perfect characters who all have different personalities with histories that make you beg to find out more. Moning explains everyone so well, that you feel the main character's pain and longing to find her sister's killer. You hate and mistrust some characters, and fall in love with others. It's a wonderful book and the series just gets better and better. Well done.

Another great addition to the Fever series but come on! We finished the previous fever book with Mac being taken hostage and turned into a mindless slave for the UnSeelie. This book revives the broken down Mac and turns her into "Mac 4.0" who can now seriously kick butt. Just when I thought we were going to conclude the series and bring some closure to Mac's story, we end with a cliff hanger and more questions. What is Barrons and why won't he tell us? What happened to Christian Keltar? How can Mac get back to her world without Ryodan? The next book needs to be EPIC to satisfy all of my questions.

Thank goodness for the store. I live in SE Asia, and none of the local chains had ordered the recent installment for their shelves. To occupy myself while I waited for Dreamfever to arrive, I reread the first three books in the series so all the fine details would be fresh in my mind. I have to say I am in awe of Karen's attention to detail. She's a master at bringing it all together (and this includes tying in characters from her Highlander Series) I can really appreciate how she's fleshed out every character. She makes you feel the atmosphere to go along with the story she's created. The evolution of Mac's character and the many facets of her personality are perfectly believable. Whereas some people might not like the way the relationship development occured between her and JB, I think it was fantastic. Now that I've read Dreamfever, I can't imagine it coming about any other way. Karen released some of the sexual tension (and boy did she ever) without giving it to us too soon.. She's prolonging it like a master and I love her for it.
I was transported and riveted by Mac's world the entire time I was reading Dreamfever. I didn't want to end, but end it did.. and on such an explosive OhNoWhatTheHellJustHappened note! Karen Moning has only further whet my appetite for the next installment ~ it can't come soon enough..
I'm already mourning the ending of the series... can't it go on and on?

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series but this was by far the best one yet. I was a bit hesistant to buy this one right away since it is in hardcover but this book was well worth the money! Moning is showing that she has the talent to develop very strong characters that can be truly appreciated. The main characters have good depth to them and finding out about Mac's past is a nice surprise that lends to a better all around character. The characters have developed into ones you can really love and hate. Mac started out a bit whiny but she has developed into a strong heroine. I especially like that not everything is turning out just fine at the end. I like the way that Mac and Barrons have finaly developed some sort of relationship but still they deny things between them. I would like to know more a bit about Barrons and what he is and where he comes from. You definately need to read the others to understand this book and to also enjoy how the characters have developed. It is killing me the way this book ended but am excited to know that she is only doing one more in this series. This is a series that definately needs to be wrapped up. I will hate to see it end but I would dislike it more if it was drug out too much longer. It will be interesting to see if a movie or 2 or even a tv series gets made from these books. I think a few movies would have the potential to be very good.

This is the fourth in Moning's "Fever" series. She is an excellent author creating complex characters, visual imagery and obvious research into the history of the area. The tension and suspense build up to the last sentence of this book. I can't wait for the fifth and final book.

Couldn't put it down!!!! This is my absolute favorite series of all time! I HIGHLY recommend it!!! Just be aware that it may be too mature for young readers. There are several love scenes throughout the series.

Man, those first few chapters really get your own blood boiling. You find out how unbreakable Mac is after what she has gone through. She gets more insight into Barrons. This book is a page turner for sure!

I can't imagine how this series could possibly be wrapped up in only one more book when DREAMFEVER muddies the waters so much. This book is filled with some very interesting twists and turns that I just didn't see coming.
All along Mac hasn't known who to trust but the villian has always been pretty clear...The Lord Master. But in this book, while he's still obviously evil, you start to feel like there's something more going on here than it first appeared. Barron's character is developed is such a way that, again, you're not sure about him. Both he and Vlain show a softer side in this book that make them powerful enigmas. Canny's character moves into the forfront in this book and she a Mac devolop a close bond.
The only bad thing I can say about this book is that I hate cliffhangers of this magnitude. As with all the books of this series, the ending leaves you foaming at the mouth with frustration. I have read that KMM is having a few health problems and that is why the books have been slow to be released. I wish her will but I hope we on't have to wait another year all the same. If you have not started this series and are reading this review, I would highly recommend it but you might want to wait until the final book is released!

I love the Karen Marie Moning Fever series! What a great movie or TV show it would be! I'm on the last book of the series and I hear the next one doesn't come out until August 2010. How am I going to be able to wait that long?

I loved Dreamfever!! Having and reading these books is like a compulsion. Once you start, you can't stop. Moning writes with clever wit and sharp intelligence. I love the fast pace and continued triangle with V'lane and Barrons. Perhaps there will be room for our Scottish cutie Christian?? I respect that Moning does not tolerate her first person heroine, Mackayla Lane, to accept insults on her intelligence and abundant inner strength. While Karen chides us to stay to the lights and promises that there will be lots of light (read happy endings) for our Mac, a lot is going have to explained to us in the final installment next year. I hope the integrity of the story and the mysterious world Moning created aren't abbreviated. I wished for more answers than questions with this story. Overall this book certainly delivered an amazing read!!

This is the fourth installment of a series that should be read in order. It's like an old-fashioned serial where each episode leaves you holding your breath and DYING to know what happens next.
While the series has a romantic element to it, it should really be classified as an urban fantasy. There's a whole magical world where humans battle monsters for possession of the planet. More importantly, however, it is the story of a silly, young, small-town girl who grows up into a kick-rear, take-no-prisoners epic hero.
KMM is really an accomplished storyteller too. The story arc is filled with twists and turns that will leave you pondering the book long after you close the cover. The characters are complex and compelling. The suspense is edge-of-your-seat calibre. The erotic chemistry between the characters is gritty and powerful.
Buy all four books and set aside a few days to breeze through them. You won't be sorry. These are a thrill ride. Then join the rest of us in our painful wait for the final stallment to come out.

The moment Mac has dreaded - Halloween - has finally happened. The walls between our world and the Fae came crashing down and all the dark Fae, the Unseelie, have been released from the prison that held them for hundreds of thousands of years. And they are insatiably hungry. For sex, for death...and our world will never be the same.
Mac, MacKayla Lane, is at the center of it all. As a sidhe-seer who can sense Fae objects she is desperate to find and contain the most powerful Fae Hallow, a book that contains all the dark magic created by the Unseelie King. She wants to put the walls back up and her world to rights. She is also driven by vengeance to find and kill her sister's murderer. However, Mac's problems keep adding up and just when you think she's hit rock bottom, nope. There is so much farther she can fall.
Mac continues to find herself caught between the electrifying, enigmatic Jericho Barrons - who wants the book for his own reasons - and V'lane, a Seelie Prince. She also has to deal with Darroc, the Lord Master, who was her sister's lover. Mac's no longer sure the LM is responsible for Alina's death.
On top of EVERYTHING else (Really? You're like: there's more? Yep.) Mac practically wages war to earn the loyalty of her fellow sidhe-seers. They are led by Rowena who is powerful, manipulative and nursing a major hate-on for Mac. Not since Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter have I felt such wholehearted loathing toward a character. It's becoming more and more evident that there aren't really heroes or villains in this series. Sure there are protagonists, but that doesn't make them good people. Even Mac has made a lot of hard choices. However, there is NOTHING that can alter my abhorrence of Rowena. Seriously, I'm getting worked up just writing about her so I'm stopping now.
The best parts of this book include:
1) Dani, a young sidhe-seer who has her own special gifts and a very dirty mouth
2) The Silvers, another Unseelie Hallow of mirrors that permit travel to different places, time and dimensions
3) A sexy Scottish Druid (named Christian, which I loved)
4) Jericho Barrons, who I confess to despising at first. He's still an arrogant ass, but what a complex character! He definitely has his own code and that's what I admire most about him. He and Mac are still dancing around each other. He might not get much page time, but when he does? Wow.
5) The darkness. This is definitely an adult story. Not only is there sexual violence (which I really hate to read), many, many people...die. There is so much death and destruction. But it doesn't make you depressed. If anything it forces you to keep your eye on that tiny pinprick at the end of the tunnel, even if you're not sure it's actually even there. Hope strengthens. Fear kills.
Dreamfever is quite a bit longer than its predecessors, which I didn't realize until I had been reading for what felt like forever (on Kindle). I finally checked the actual page count online. I read this baby cover-to-cover one night after work and finished it in time for the 10 o'clock news...it definitely burned me out a little bit!
I can't really compare anything else to the Fever series. Sure there are other stellar Urban Fantasy series out there - but these books are among the best. I honestly think they'd be unmatched if Mac's narration wasn't so bogged down by unneeded extended descriptions and her own windy inner monologue. There are also a few parts narrated by Dani. While her character voice is strong it's a little disjointing, and reading an entire book written in that manner would make me want to gouge out my own eyeballls. Karen Marie Moning's writing has seriously bewitched me. If I read other stories with similar narration ticks I wouldn't finish it. With the Fever series I can't put it down.
My final quibble about this book is over all the bad stuff that happens to Mac. Not that it happens, but how she deals with it. This is another self-contradiction because one of the things I love most about Mac is her ability to keep going. She started out as pretty ignorant and honestly just too stupid to live. Now I have nothing but admiration for her. However, I wish there had been more of her coping with all the trauma she goes through. She takes hit after hit, and I feel like she should be more effected. Like I said. I hate to love it. Love to hate it? I dunno.
If you want to read something unique and intricate that will screw with your mind (as evident if you just read my thoughts about it in this review) then the Fever series is for you. Dreamfever was amazing. Despite my complaints (it gets four stars from me) it still goes down as a favorite. I can't imagine a world in which we don't have authors like Karen Marie Moning who share their brilliance with us. I really can't. But now that I'm thinking about it's really freaking me out. Dreamfever! Read it!
