This adventure is non stop, page turning action. Kesh is wonderful fun to get to know. She's brash, intelligent, and a survivor. Her story unfolds and each revelation is a surprise. And if course, Kesh finds she's become attached to two very sexy heros, whom she shouldn't fall in love with. The bad guys are horrible fun and the good guys irresistibly gallant and hot for our heroine. Kesh has secrets that threaten to tear her apart. Is she really who she thinks she is, or is her humanity going to rule the day? I cannot wait for book #2 to enjoy the twists and turns as the plot takes us into new worlds that will test Kesh's heart!

This is my first Pippa DaCosta book, and I actually stumbled upon it accidentally while browsing KU books.

When I read the blurb and saw Fae, outer space, and criminal underworld, I was a GONER. I love the thinking outside the box. And from the second I started reading, I didn't put this book down once (much to my husband's dismay). The world was so unique and I loved the fantasy/sci-fi mix. I wanted to either be, or be bff's, with half the characters. I didn't see a single one of the plot twists coming (which is pretty rare these days), and man, the plot twists were killer.

I'll be picking up the second book in this series shortly, and then I plan on making a huge dent in Ms. DaCosta's other books.

Shoot the Messenger was like totally playing with my mind. it has very good characters and a good storyline. I love RH and I love Fae so this was a really great book to read especially because it was a sci fi unique for me. I think I will be getting more books by Pippa

OMG what a fantabulous start to this series! A fascinating urban fantasy / sci-fi world, fast paced, twists & turns, deceptions & lies, hot guys, a little romance and a kick ass heroine to top it all off! I am eager to read the next instalment!

Oh my poor heart. This book completely sucked me in, broke my heart, and blew my mind. This is the kind of book yoy immediately want to reread to figure out all the twists and turns you just experienced. Dark, crazy, sci fi. Can't wait to read more!

A bit confusing at first, but quite well written overall. Very interesting plot line, many twists. Though this is listed as a Reverse Harem, be aware that there is no sex in this first book. I'm expecting it in the second, whenever that is.

Amazing world building with a creative casting of Fae versus technology. Kesh rocks as the damaged heroine and the characters of Kellee and Talen are inspired. There is no simple HEA, and while not a cliffhanger, the diabolical ending sets up the next book well.

I found this way more complex than your usual sci fi reverse harem, and that’s good. Only 4 stars as I felt sucker punched by heroine (like everyone else). Loved the menfolk so far. World building great but a lot of detail to be sketched in. Looking forward to the next one

Really well developed characters with a great storyline. Without spoiling anything, I have to say I was super surprised at the end. I can count on one hand the number of books and movies that have genuinely surprised me with a twist, but this one did. But it made sense, and wasn’t just for shock. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Hooked from the beginning. This book was a lot more than I was expecting. I went in thinking it would be a regular reverse harem with romance and a thin plot behind it. What I got was the complete opposite. The writing was amazing the characters intriguing. This book has many twists and turns that will have you craving the next one.

I loved this book! The story & characters are well written, with twists & unexpected turns. The “reverse harem” is a very sloooow burn, but I appreciate this as it pulls you into the story & you want to know the characters better.

It reminds me of an early Ilona Andrews. Definitely getting the next one!

Outstanding book!! So much savage, deceit, and overall rawness that is hard to find in 'romance fantasy' or 'harems' per say. I love the world as well, though it becomes less vivid later because of a few things (spoiler free zone here). I'm hoping in the next book, we are treated with what Faerie looks like, because I've been pretty curious.

This is most definitely a harem book. All the guys are hot, most are ruthless, and a lot of the romance is well paced, slow burn. Lots of struggles in the relationship department in this book, which makes it all the more enticing. I hope each male character has an equal or so amount of spotlight (unbalanced harem's can feel really unfair lol) in the next books! Can't wait to read more of your work.

I obtained this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.
I selected it because it is a finalist for the 2018 Dragon Award in the category of 'Best Fantasy Novel, (Including Paranormal).'
Kesh LaSota is a Messenger. With her sidekick, an upgraded former war drone named Sota, she delivers high-value, high-priority messages across the world of Calicto. She has a special talent for the work, being invisible to the ubiquitous surveillance that covers the entire population.
Her crisis unfolds after she delivers a message to a gangster-type, telling him he has 18 seconds to live, followed 18 seconds later by a bullet to his head.
And thus we enter the fantasy part of the novel, because the actions described in that interval would take a HECK of a lot longer than 18 seconds to transpire in Mundane Land.
Everything that happen after that is a fantasy function as well. Every commodity is available to the population, except ...water. There is a synthetic form of water, though, but good old dihydrogen monoxide costs a bundle.
Lots of action. Lots of hunky men. A few gorgeous women. And plot convolutions you won't believe, even after you see them, If you are a fan of the genre, this is going to blow you away. It's going to make the author a lot of money.
As for me, I couldn't wait for the book to be over. U,,,, I mean that literally. I read the first half, realized I still had to post about it, and skipped chapters until I got to the end. I am utterly fine with that,as I am with the fact that this book outsells almost every single book I really like.
Quite possibly will win the Dragon Award.

This book was amazing from the beginning to end! I can’t wait to hear what Kesh, Kelley, and Talon do next!

Pippa DaCosta’s characters are so strongly written, you either love them or hate them. Her worlds are unique and so well written, you want to visit them.

Kesh Lasota is a messenger, living in secrecy, hiding from the secrets of her former life. She has the ability to breath life into tech, a gift given to her by Queen Mab, and the Fae have disappeared across the galaxies for eons. When one message she was commissioned to deliver turns into an assassination, with a war Fae pulling the trigger, Kesh must flee, using her ghosting skills to avoid being scanned by the many pieces of tech around her and taking the fall for the assassination. Her escape means losing her only friend - her personal drone who knows all her secrets and means the world to her.

I don’t want to give away any twists and turns, and believe me, there are many, but if you love sci-fi, with wars between the Fae who try to eliminate or enslave all other species, and a slow burn romance thrown in the mix, you should definitely pick this one up! It is so worth it!!

Pippa DaCosta blasts it out of the park again. She has created another heroine like Muse (Veil Series), or like Gem (Chaos Rises series) that you root for and want as your BFF. Kesh is kick ass. Pippa is world building in the caliber of Terry Goodkind or Sherrilyn Kenyon. I hope that there's more, many more in this series. The story doesn't begin on Earth. For a writer that is already a challenge to create. The story starts in a Dystopian world, but gets blended in with Fae that is not your friendly Tinker Bell variety.

We meet Kesh Lasota, not quite human and most definitely not a ghost except in tech, a female version of Neo from Matrix if you will. The story starts with a message delivered in an oblique way and ending with the receiver ending up dead in front of Kesh. From there it is a wild ride to prove her innocence, save her friend Sota (an AI) and the introduction of Talen and Kellee, neither one of the men human at all. Pippa has done a great job building this reverse harem in book 1 and I look forward to see how these relationships develop and solidify in the upcoming books. Each male character stands in his own personal power and contributes complementary energy to each other and to Kesh. The connections between the three are handled with finesse and delicacy.

Ultimately Kesh has another message to deliver and without giving away the plot line it totally flips the story around at the end. When I got to the last page, the only thought I had was: "That's it?!? I have to wait until July to get the next installment?!"

I highly recommend this if you're into science fiction/fantasy. In fact I highly recommend any of her other series.

This story is so beyond, well beyond, I’ve never experienced anything like it. Just wow. As soon as it ended I sat there staring at my phone. This is one of those books you can’t guess what happens next. You’re always kept on your toes and things change from what you know. The character development is insane and I still have no idea what just happened. Yet I crave more. Just wow. Amazing read. I need the next book ASAP. I couldn’t put this down and had to devour in one sitting. Definitely don’t start unless you can read the entire thing. Wow. My mind is blown.

First off this book is very well written and edited. The world building is wonderful and the story had a lot of potential. In my opinion this is one of those books that just has too much going on. The narrator is unreliable right up until the end giving big reveals along the way that are only slightly foreshadowed. I didn't like her, I felt sad towards the end for everyone involved. Her relationships with the other main characters are frustrating because of all the lies. I started the second book but it seems more of the same, lies from the other main characters confusing the story and me as the reader. I'm sure this is a lot of people's ideal writing style so if you like being mislead and shocked by the characters through out a book this is well worth your time. If you're like me and enjoy a more clear cut read with protagonists you can trust and don't hate a steer clear of this book.

I stumbled upon this series quite randomly and didn’t look back. I was actually coming out of a short mourning period after finishing all series of another author and was trying to transition to a new author. Not realizing I was jumping into a frustratingly unfinished(series) but gloriously addictive new world and author that is now firmly in my top 5 list

Holy Smokes this was good. Really good. So good that only a 5 star would work.
I loved the role the heroine played. The leading male characters were good, each on their own. Both were mysterious and continue to be so even at the end.
Now the ending??? Let's sort of discuss that. I did not see that end coming at all, hence the "it blew me out of the water" phrase.
So as not to ruin the storyline for anyone, all I can say is that if you love yourself some fae, paranormal suspense and action, then this is a book for you. I can't wait to start the next installment.
