I really enjoy Regency Era romance and this author did not disappoint me! The storyline was well written and on point, the plot flowed smoothly throughout the entire book and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page I became more and more invested as the relationship evolved between Robert and Georgiana!

This is Lady Georgiana Reginald's story from A Forthright Courtship.
Lady Georgiana and Captain Trentworth were foiled in love by Lady Georgiana's father. Captain Trentworth left and went to sea. The father is now deceased, Cpt. Trentworth has returned and is now rich. They have never stopped loving each other but do not know how to reconnect. L. Georgiana's friend, Lady Julia, (who is headstrong and HILARIOUS!) invites them to a house party unbeknownst to each other so that they might meet again. Hijinks and incorrect assumptions ensue until all comes together properly in the end.
I completely enjoyed all the characters. They had definite voices, traits, and mannerisms all their own. I especially enjoyed Lady Julia and Mr. Tomlinson! Each character play off of the other very well. It's interesting how the main characters arrive at the denouement, using mainly thinking to themselves.
Unfortunately, the bad editing and/or technically uneven writing KEPT pulling me out of the story! It was so frustrating. It seemed like hundreds of sentences ended in prepositions that weren't even needed. The sentence or paragraph could have ended properly with out all the 'for's, 'into's, 'to's, 'with's, 'for's and 'IT's. It got to the point to where I was just reading to find the prepositions at the end of a sentence.
There was incorrect word usage such as "to nobody's surprise" instead of "to no-one's surprise". And "speak plain" instead of "speak plainly". There were several spots where there was word or phrase repetition, as if the writer could not think of another way to word or phrase the paragraphs.
Also, just like the previous book, the cover IN NO WAY matched the description of the heroine. Why does this happen? Is this lazy or non-caring editing?
At least the word "smirk" was used only once.
By the end, I felt like I was trudging through what should have been a delightful read. I am so sad that I feel I can give an other wise very good story such a low score because of the technical oversights.

Be prepared to go back in time and reminisce about your first love. How often someone holds a place in their heart for one special person only to discover later the person is their soul mate. I enjoyed getting to know the love story of Georgian and the Captain. The surrounding characters added to the history of the main characters. I enjoyed the bonds of family and friendship that were inter woven throughout the story.
Nice easy and enjoyable read.

This is the love story of Captain Robert Trentworth and Miss Georgiana Reginald. A clean, heartbreaking romance of two people who couldn’t fight the circumstances of their birth. He entered the Royal Navy to build a career for himself. He has no title and he’s a nobody who fell in love with Georgiana, the daughter of a powerful Duke. She loved him too but of course the Duke didn’t approve of him and they had to break up before her went asea. She never married and now on the verge of spinsterhood. Then Robert came home, retired from the Navy as Captain, with more money than he dreamed of and added to that an unexpected large inheritance from an Aunt. How are these two going to face their circumstances once again is the story. Will they ever understand why they parted? Can he forgive her? Can she forgive him too? If you don’t mind repetition and too many unnecessary words, you’ll enjoy this good story. I have one question for this author. Why was Georgiana addressed as Miss instead of Lady Georgiana? I thought Lady and Your Grace are proper addresses for her and the Duke.

Julia Weston sets a plot to reunite formerly engaged Georgiana Randall and Captain Trentworth. She chooses to hold dinners in Bath inciting them both without telling either.
Once reunited their love is still there but the hurt of a broken engagement remains. A declaration and then harsh words nearly sees them truly undone.
This book can stand alone but is actually a sequel to "A Forthright Courtship". A charming read, although for me their were a couple of moments that I found long winded and could feel myself growing bored. However, I did enjoy the book. It was nice learning that Lord Edward Randall's sister, the sweet but shy Georgiana found her own true love.

Loved this story of two people, who dictated by society and a tyrant for a father, were able to come together after years of being apart to find happiness. Georgianna had to turn Robert down once before as he was not of nobility, now he's made something of himself in the Navy and come into an inheritance. Upon seeing each other again, temper's flare but so do those old feelings. Can they both get past what was said years ago and make it work? Wonderful characters and supporting characters in this story. It was a great follow-up from her previous story. Would highly recommend.

Georgianna and the Captains story is so true to life it could be today. (Not the part about being forbidden to marry a man in a lower class). Their own internal struggles around broken hearts and their mis-communication relates as well today as then. I found myself wanting to tell them both to listen to each other and not the "what if's" or the "if only's" they both internalize. This is so well done I can picture the scenes in my head and wanted to walk up to them and convince them to forgive the past! I want more stories like this.

Missed signals abound in this wonderful story of a second chance at love. When someone denies their heart out of love for others is a wonderous thing and it was so thrilling to see how it all worked out. I couldn't put it down. Read this great love story, worth the late night reading!

While the characters were likable enough, they did tend to reiterate the same thoughts and emotions. I would have preferred a little tighter plot, which would have resulted in a higher rating. It made for a decent quick read overall.

I read an arc of this book.

This story was wonderful. The friendships between the characters were so positive and honest. The romance was difficult. People seem to have a harder time thinking and replying clearly when their emotions over run them. I pray that all lovers (young or old) would have the stabilising influence of Godly reliable friends.

I was pleased to discover it was a continuation of “A Forthright Courtship” - a continuation of Edward, Maria and Georgiana’s lives. It was good to read how Georgiana and Robert found each other again and of the twists and turns that happened in their story. Will they ever be able to forgive, forget, and love again? Interesting plot that kept my attention throughout the whole book. It would be nice to find out what happens to the nice Mr. Norwich. Perhaps he and Julia could end up together.

A lovely book that continues the story of the Reginald family. Georgians has been unhappy for years, hiding her feelings. When her Captain returns, will they be able to forgive and love again? You must read to find out. A. Great read.

A lovely second, maybe even third chance at romance. Georgiana and Robert were denied their happy ending several years ago when her snobby father refused his blessing. Though given a second chance all these years later, their fears and doubts may prevent the love they still carry to triumph. Good friends and a wise brother guide the unhappy pair to their long awaited clarity of hearts. Enjoy this charming story. Diane

I loved the previous book much more than this one. Although it was well written with the same & new wonderfully written characters, the plot seemed too simple, and it took forever waiting until the last 10 pages of the book - when things finally started to come together.
Overall, this was not one of my favorites.

First loves can be the most wonderful experience as well as the most painful. In this Regency Era Romance Novel, Fanny Finch shares the joys and pains of losing and finding one’s first love - again. This is definitely a book for those who love clean, historical romances.

I absolutely love this Regency Era. Georgiana's roller coaster love story keeps you hooked and begging for more. Their attraction is undeniable and the hopes of a second chance kept me turning pages to find out. I loved how brave Georgina was to stand in front of the man she loved and have to turn him away, because her father forbid it. I also loved her courage to embrace being a spinster if she had to because of it. I loved the brother-sister bond. Julia and her mom were amazing supporters and helped guide her. I loved the banter between Julia, her mom and Georgina. Robert is torn between what his heart feels toward the woman that broke his heart and what how angry he is. Fate is giving Robert and Georgina a second chance at love and finding their way back to each other. They have a love worth saving. This book is full of suspense, drama, friendship, dedication, trust, courtship, family and love. It's a must READ!

It’s good to finally see Georgiana finally get her HEA. If I didn’t know that she was suppose to get one , I would have given up on that happening with all the roller coaster ups and downs her relationship with Captain Robert goes through in this one story. Their love for one another has remained after years of being forced apart by Georgiana’s father, the hard nosed Duke, but unfortunately so has the anger, pride, hurt and inability to trust again. It will take a lot to restore this relationship. Is it even possible?

I enjoyed reading this story to see how Georgiana and Captain Trentworth work out the Captain’s well-deserved distrust of Georgiana. There were many misunderstandings to be worked through so I found myself holding my breath wondering how that would happen. At times I wanted to shake Georgiana and tell her to stop being so analytical of everything going on and being said. I think you will enjoy this story as much as I did and highly recommend its purchase.

This is the sequel to A Forthright Courtship, the story of Lady Georgiana and Captain Trentworth. They are given a second chance at love. Will they take it? Or is one or both of them too headstrong? Great secondary characters. I enjoyed Lady Julia and Mr. Tomlinson. The story flowed. Characters were fleshed out. Twists and turns made it interesting. Come along and find out what happens. See if it is still true love after so many years.

I recieved this GREAT book free for an honest review. This is a great story about a 26 year old lady that had been forbidden by her father to marry the love of her life because he didn't have a title.
They were engaged but she had to refuse him or her father was going to cast her out of the family with nothing. What happens when they meet 10 years later.

Finally! Was the word I said when the Captain proposed to Georgina. Robert finally came to realise his folly. I wanted to hit Robert for being a fool but I understand where it was coming for. Luckily, Georgina is surrounded by friends and family who cares and stopped her from committing a big mistake. It was a very hea, loved their story.

I really enjoyed this book! Because of things that had happened in the past, each person thought the other one did not love them. With their family and friends giving them advice they finally worked everything out to everyone's satisfaction. I recommend this book to anyone who likes clean romance!

Georgiana and Robert's love story was anything but smooth. It almost didn't happen at all thanks to class differences but true love, friends, and setting aside stubborn attitudes make the twists in this story all come together.

The story is a continuation from a Forth Right Courtship. As in her other books these characters are so well written and the story line was sweet.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC copy of this book.

I eagerly anticipated reading this book! The character development was well done, if a little unrealistic! The plot unfolding was slow and might have been better served with a prologue dealing with the actual night of the broken engagement. If you like your novels with strong character development and less emphasis on plot, you will enjoy this book!

A PAGE TURNING STORY FROM THE BEGINNING WITH ALL THE INTERESTING CHARACTERS THAT COME TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS AN EDUCATION IN EARLY SOCIAL RULES THAT MANY LIVED BY EVEN THO THEY WERE NOT ALWAYS A MUTUAL CARE FOR OTHER PEOPLES WANTS, NEEDS, CARES OR DESIRES. THUS LEAVING LIFE CHOICES UP TO THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY AND NOT ALWAYS THE DESIRE OF THE YOUNGER FAMILY MEMBERS INVOLVED. WITH MANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS, SPATS AND ANGRY WORDS EXCHANGED, A HEA IS REACHED WITH MUCH SOUL SEARCHING AND FORGIVENESS MANY TIMES OVER BY ALL PARTIES.

What a fun collection of characters. I love reading about individuals with several different personalities and how they are viewing the events of the story. It is always fun when several of them will approach and share their observations with the main characters.

The title is great for this story, as they are constantly thwarted in truly expressing themselves well to each other. Thankfully with the pushing and prodding of friends, they don’t give up. A fun read I was able to finish in one sitting.

This storyline is quite different to the usual period romance. There isn't that much romance, more thoughts and mind searching. It is well written, but not quite as "grabbing" as other stories by this author. This is not to say that I did not enjoy reading it, I did. I would recommend this book to others: it is hard for us today to understand what it must have been like in the past, where females had absolutely no power over their own lives and future. I received an ARC of this story, and I voluntarily review it here.

This book teaches us that if you truly love someone you should put them first ahead of yourself. This is not about second chance love, this is about third chance love. It held my interest throughout the whole book. The love between two people that was denied them for so many years. There is humor, sadness, indecision and love. I can't wait for the next book from Fanny Finch.

About a decade ago Georgiana was made by her father to break off her engagement to Robert. Now considered a spinster, she went to visit her life long friend, Juliana, where she meets up with Robert again. Their feelings have not changed for one another but the pain Robert felt all those years ago have not gone away. When Georgiana receives a proposal from Mr. Tomlinson, Robert realizes it may be too late to confess his love for her. Or is it?

I enjoyed this story of second chances. Unfortunately, Captain Trentworth should be taken behind the barn and shot. He is so arrogant like he is the only one who has been suffering. Georgiana is the daughter and sister of a duke. Everyone fails to understand why she has not married yet, she is twenty-six. She and Robert Trentworth were engaged a long time ago but her father had forbidden it. They were both broken hearted but she gave in and sent Robert away.
Her father was a cruel and heartless man. The storyline was very good, the characters were developed and very realistic. The descriptions added to the grandeur of the places they went. The author has yet to give me a boring tale. They seem to be well written and keep your interest.

I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily read this book.

An interesting story that keeps one’s interest to the end, hoping the Hero & heroine will overcome past hurts and resume their loving relationship.
Robert was not of the gentry, nor did he have money, so Georgianna’s father refused to give them permission to marry, even threatening social destruction if they were to marry. Robert went off to sea to live up to his prior naval commitment, leaving Georgianna living with her brother and father.
Despite their breakup, each still loved, and longed for, the other. Years later, Robert inherits from an aunt, after also having built a small fortune in the navy, allowing him to retire and return to England. He expects Georgianna to have married by now, but at the first social event he attends, they meet and he learns she is still single. What should have been a simple, easy resumption of close relations, was hampered by Robert’s bitterness-at the gentry in general, at Georgianna’s father and by extension to her brother and even at Georgianna for not having gone against her father’s wishes. This bitterness had blinded him to thinking about the long term consequences of what such rebellion would have meant to Georgianna, both while he was at sea, and if he were to have died there.
Loving, reasonable friends of Georgianna helped Robert understand what marrying against her father’s wishes would have meant for her, as well as appreciate that she still cared for him. In the end, Robert grew up, abandoned his bitterness and opened himself to the love Georgianna so openly offered him.
I enjoyed the story, as it explored the human foibles that hamper relationships, and how love can overcome them. The characters were believable and with good character. The book was clean and appropriate for readers of all ages.
The only negative in the writing style was the long “soliloquies” (wordy speeches) that appeared from time to time near the end, where the speaker spoke on and on in flowery terms. The wordiness distracted from the story. This includes the quoting of “She Walks in Beauty....”. The use of a few lines or paragraph would have sufficed. (My opinion.)
I enjoyed the story very much, and look forward to reading further books by this author.
