Helllllllllloooooooo people! It's been a long time since I've posted a review, and for that I'm sorry. I should have a bit more time to read now, so look for more reviews! I'm still going through and doing my #TBRProject. I'm trying to read every book that I have first (it's harder than you think) and writing reviews for those instead of buying new books. (The struggle is real.)

Anyway, this wasn't on my #TBRProject, but instead I was given a copy to review in exchange for an honest review from the review opportunity from Giselle at Xpresso Book Tours.

The cover is awesome. It's just how Troy looked in my head, and I love that he's holding the necklace, which is a pretty huge part of why he's around in the story in the first place. The fact that his hair is slicked back, the way it was described in the book often, was nice, and him being in the water is perfect for his character.

The story starts out with Grandma Mackenna getting hurt and breaking her leg. Her granddaughter Lily Boyd (as she's so eager to give out her full name...) goes out to "take care of her" although she does an iffy job. At first Lily got on my nerves. She questions too many small details and is sort of rude to her gramma, which bothered me a bit.
We didn't get too much of Lily's background, we do hear that her mother decided to "turn her back on the real world around her."

We then learn that Gramma Mackenna is a faerie doctor and that the fay are very real parts of her world.

Suddenly Mackenna goes missing and bogeys (house fay that aren't as friendly as their nice counterparts, the brownies) attack and Lily almost loses her life. Enter, Troy. Dripping wet, handsome, deadly.

The necklace that gramma had previously given Lily saves her life (remember that necklace from the cover) and we learn that Troy had a debt to gramma, although that's hinted at in the prologue. Troy is fay. His words are twisted traps, his emotions are stone and he is intimidating. Lily can't shut up, can't make sense of his fancy word traps and just keeps plundering on, trying to get answers, trying to find out who took Mackenna, if she's even alive, and wants revenge/justice. The two can be one in the same, you know.

The two go on a bit of a fast paced adventure and I loved it. I'm giving this four triquetras, only because Lily annoyed me a bit more than most FMC's do, but I think it's just in her nature to plunder on without too much thought.

Troy was gorgeous and the two had some moments that I blushed a bit over and giggled, and other times when I wanted to shake both of them and then push their heads together for kissy time.

I'm looking forward to the next book, I hope it doesn't take too long to come out.

I recommend this for anyone who likes the Fae/Fay. Reminds me of The Iron Fey a bit. Lots of word games.

See you guys later! Let me know what you think if you've read this, or do you think you'd like to give it a shot?

The plot was pretty much all about finding the grandma of Lily who was a doctor for fairies. She gets help from a kelpie (a water spirit of Scottish folklore, typically taking the form of a horse, reputed to delight in the drowning of travelers --> from Google). Their camaraderie is actually good, even though their team up isn't the best because Lily speaks like a normal person and the kelpie, Troy, speaks in a riddles and in very, very formal yet confusing manner. They argue lots as expected, but they also become more like necessary friends. The problem is, she gives away her name freely to the said kelpie, so he could practically make her do anything for the entirety of the book. It's annoying. She forges on and she does many things wherein I want to shout at her because she was being kind of stupid.

Hmm, if you ask me if there's a love story somewhere in this boo? I don't think so. I can't see them being in a relationship in the next book. It'll just be oh so weird. -__- Even though they may be kind of attracted to one another. LOL.

The battles are actually good here. The author has a talent with describing things and making it seem real in my head. Their adventures from one place to another is also good. I just really have a problem with the amount of dialogues in this book. I felt dizzy reading between the lines when they talk. The mysteries also kept piling, but when one is solved, another crops up and then it goes on and on... and then bam! cliffhanger! Oh my, I think this book just really wasn't for me.

I enjoyed it, but I also kind of hated how it ended... so where does that leave me?

I was given a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was an exceptionally well written fantasy, but it ended abruptly without tying up any of the story lines. I'm not a fan of authors who end their books on a major cliffhanger such as this. My first response is frustration which is not the best emotion to have after reading the book. That's the bad news.

The good news is that this is an engaging story full of magic, myths and legends about the fae. When Lily Boyd goes to visit her grandmother, she has no idea that she will be thrust into the middle of a faerie battle between two courts. When her grandmother goes missing, Lily stumbles around making mistake after mistake while her would-be savior kelpie Troy tries to guide her in her quest. Troy was an intriguing and well-written character and I'm sure there's much more to be learned about him. I didn't find Lily as likeable as Troy, but then again, the poor girl has been through so much in such a short time. I hope in the next book, the author will paint her in a stronger light. Fans of fantasy and all things faerie will enjoy this book, but be warned that it ends on a major cliff hanger.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Since she was a child, Lily Boyd visited her grandmother in Scotland until she could be left on her own since her parents both worked. She had adored spending long days at McKenna Kirk's rural home where they had fun playing and giggling. McKenna had broke her ankle from a bad fall and was lucky to be alive. She refused to move closer so Lily packed her bags, took two trains, and a bus to go help her grandmother. What she didn't expect was items disappearing or hideous creatures trying to eat her once she returned from the village and her grandmother missing! To add to her confusion, a total stranger saved her from being eaten alive! But as she captured her breath from fighting the creatures, the stranger haul her off the floor and out the door that one monster had blocked............

Whoa, talk about a fast paced story that captures your attention as Brownies, bogey men and creatures that change form in front of your eyes, Lily made her rethink her belief in magic!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review and I can't wait to read the next! BEWARE, Ron Nieto will make a fan out of everyone that reads his book.

Wonderful book a lot different then what i normally read but thats what intrigued me.
The story is about a fairy who helps a man who can change into a horse. A horse who normally hurts people but he feels something for her so he doesnt hurt her. He gives her gift that will help her out if shes hurt or in trouble.

I loved reading this book not knowing what was going to happen.

He goes back to help and finds her grand daughter instead. Which was not expected and which i liked.

This was a great read-- Nieto did an excellent job of making the world of the fae seem alive while still foreign. And Lily never wavered as a good example of a main character.
The cover is awesome. It's just how Troy looked in my head. I really loved Lily's character. She was naive, but that comes with innocence, and it allowed for her to grow over the course of the story. The fay keeps the reader in a confused way because I think that is one of the characteristics of the fay

I love stories of Celtic folklore especially those featuring Kelpies and Pucas both creatures that can become beautiful black horses. Thank you for Ron for creating Troy he is a fascinating anti-hero and the growing romantic feelings between him and Lily had me reading every book in the series as quick as I could. I hope their story will continue and that they will enjoy many more adventures together.

I really enjoyed this book. It is very well written, it flows, and is easy to understand.

An excellent cast of characters - Lily is a bit of a pain to be honest as she doesn't listen to what is being said to her. Mackenna is the Grandmother/Faerie Doctor that everyone would wish for. Troy is a Kelpie, and delicious at that!

A really enjoyable, beautiful, sensuous, adventurous story and I love all the word play. I have to know what happens next!

Not your everyday and typical faery story. Brilliant and refreshing story and well developed characters, as well as a new twist on the feary theme. What more do you need? It was really fun to watch how lily grows up throughout the book and bit by bit leaves behind that British education that is causing her more grieve than help.
Be warned it has a cliff-hanger ending that I loved. And I want a Troy for myself, can I ask for one pretty please? Thumbs up!!

I really enjoyed this author's take on faerie lore. I deliberated between giving it three or four stars because while I really like the story I do hate that it kind of just cuts off at the end with a cliffhanger. I decided on four stars because while I was disappointed by the cliffhanger I did decide to buy the 2nd and 3rd books.

I really loved this book. This story had me sitting in front of my kindle til I finished it. usually I take a break between chapters but not this one. Lily came thinking she was to help her Grandma Mackenna out since she broke her leg but it is more than that. She's there so Mackenna can teach her to be a faeiry doctor though she doesn't know it at the beginning. But then Mackenna gets kidnapped and all faerie breaks loose poor Lily. I love Lilys and Troys interaction with each other. When you meet him you wonder if he is the good guy of the bad guy. It shows the love Lily has for Mackenna by going on the wild ride through out the Faerie world hunting for her. I loved reading how Troy and MacKenna first met in Faerie Nights when she was young and how he gave her the rose necklace so she could call upon his if in grave danger. And Also how she gave him his name Troy. This book has the characters getting into lots of trouble On their quest. The cliff hanger at the end had me want to cry because I didn't have the next book to start right then .I can't wait till I get It.
