A somewhat wandering yet poetic thought process and journey of finding hope, peace, and joy in life by allowing yourself to be broken and used by God. At times author is too wordy, yet I appreciate her honesty - it's nice to know others struggle too and others also learn through a process that takes time.

Very thought provoking, profound read as it changes what we believe to be the norm and turns it upside down in a powerful and necessary way. Recently broken and freed in Christ myself, I related to Ann in so many ways and was grateful for her honesty and candor as she shared her revelations of what brokenness really means especially when we share it with others.

Ann shares more of her story, herself, her broken path, to help lead us down a path of rich abundance. Why are we afraid to be broken when it's in our brokenness that the Lord pours in His healing balm. Ann encourages us to share our own brokenness with others, and to #bethegift to someone else walking a broken path. An excellent testament to the power of Christ to heal our lives.

Ann Voskamp's words are so eloquent, yet you feel as if you are sitting down and sharing with a trusted friend. Her message of sharing our brokenness is such an important revelation. Don't just be there for your friends that are broken, sharing your own brokenness with those very friends is what makes the union so special.

For an individual that has been through many difficult situations in life and have questions about the reasons why, this book is for you. This book speaks not only to difficulties but to our triumphs and the reasons why our difficulties happen but also to our sharing our brokenness to help others. When we are broken and receive our healing then it is now our ministry to help others to meet the one true God and His son JESUS who brings healing, love and ministry.

Because Ann Voskamp is a midwestern farm wife and a homeschooling mother to seven, I read this book waiting for the other shoe to drop... You know, the shoe that tells me that she is a self-righteous, gun-toting, flag-waving, immigrant-hating "Christian". The shoe that fell, however, revealed pure, genuine, Jesus-following, humility and compassion. The beauty of her writing is breathtaking, and the truth of her message is life-changing. God bless you, Ann Voskamp.

This book is so beautifully written and touches the deepest places in your soul. Our oldest son, who was only 9, very unexpectedly and tragically committed suicide last April. Our lives were completely torn into pieces and we have been left to try to pick them all back up and carry on for our other 3 children, especially his 7 year old brother who lost his best friend and closest playmate. I have really been struggling with the pain and frustration from the cliches and platitudes so freely given by members of our community and church. For so many months, our faith has been strong, but as the shock wears off, the sharp pain of his loss has really set in. I have found myself most recently wrestling with my faith and begging God for answers. This book has been so healing for my soul. Ann is such an incredible writer and has the most beautiful way of wording every single sentence. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has ever been through pain in their lives.

"The Broken Way" is so rich, so deep, so enlightening. Ann has an inspirational, poetic way of writing that causes me to read slow and underline often, to soak up all the beautiful truth she speaks. This book has been an eye-opening part of my journey to finding the beauty of being broken. I am truly grateful to Ann for being bold and brave, for getting this book into our hands, for such a time as this!

I ordered the audio book. Although, I have read the hardcover as well. Iam reviewing here the audio book. The audio book is HORRIBLE. I am not sure if Ann had any say in who read the book for her or not. However, the person over did the reading. And she needs to learn how to pronounce Koinonia. She mispronounces every time. And it is not because of an accent. I did notice that the reader has read others books but this was not a good choice for this book. I do understand that Ann does not have the time to do everything. But, maybe next time the person should be screened better?

Ann writes from her broken present and not the tidy story of a past with all its issues resolved. Her courage to open her life and days with transparency and humility, leads the way for her invitation to lean into and even embrace our brokenness and its power and hope. This is Gospel living. Ann tries it on for all of us to see, and it's beautiful. Her book is timely. A game-changer for the body of Christ.

Outstanding author! Love her unique writing style and her raw honesty! This is a great book for those that are broken or those that need to get broken to let Him in. To learn that brokenness isn't the end, that it can be a gift, it can be good is so freeing.

I love the way Ann Voskamp writes. Initially it's quite different form of writing and the way she puts across her ideas and blessings and ideas for growth.

So I read small bits at a time to get use to her form of writing.
Once I read more I began to get with her unusual style.

Very very good and helpful read.

Appreciate Ann's ability to share her own brokenness in it to help us learn how to share our own. We truly are closest to Jesus when we are suffering. And there can be no compassion with without suffering.

Ann grabbed my attention with her last book, 1000 Gifts so I was anxiously awaiting the Broken Way. I was equally delighted as I cracked the pages of raw truth Ann reveals in her own journey. She encourages me to not fear my brokenness but to allow Christ's good brokenness to fill the cracks of my bad brokenness and in turn share Christ's kindness with the broken hearted. Thanks Ann for your sharing God message ❤️️

Love the initial visual she uses of her daughter holding the heart to her chest and it rips and her sweet daughter says- it's okay now Love can come in and out... not sure if I got the wording exact as Ann is such a beautiful writer... but I have seen that play out in my life and have told that simple story to others with a very powerful impact. Her honesty and vulnerability is what makes this. Ok so incredible!!

I am so convinced that God uses our broken bodies, hearts and minds to minister to others. If He was broken then of course we also can expect pain in our lives. Praise God for putting these words into Ann's heart and for her dear obedience in sharing them with us. ?

I loved Ann's first book, One Thousand Gifts, but I may love The Broken Way even more. Or, at least, this second book seems to complete her first. Both books are thought provoking, heart stirring and soul moving! You cannot read them and not be changed in the way that you see love, Jesus Christ, the gospel, pain and suffering, relationships and life's purpose.

This book is rich. While I could easy read through it quickly because it is so engaging, I found myself wanting to savor each chapter. I went slow, soaking up the joy and grace in Ann's refreshing perspective. Reading The Broken Way has been like waking up on a gorgeous day. It has helped me see afresh the opportunities in my life to live out of my brokenness and belovedness in Christ for the good of others. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to see the point in their pain. Reading it is like talking to an incredibly kind, insightful friend whose presence just makes you want to breathe deeper and live bigger. I'm a major bookworm, and I personally think most of the popular books by female Christian authors are pretty fluffy--this one is original, raw, and truly deep. Seriously, reading it will do your soul good.
