Quite a few of us from church are readingthis devotional daily and I'd have to say that this is a excellent 100-Day Devotional. Especially in with a group of like minded ladies you can gain so much knowledge on what each individual aspect is gained daily. Most excellent rating.

Heartfelt! Insightful! Highly recommended! Every devotional that I read is so fresh and from the heart! Lysa Terkeurst is a wonderful teacher for God's word and every devotional prepares you for the day and allows the Word of God to not only be grasped intellectually but to be savored and taken in and to be lived out in our lives. I loved the part about how sermons are not preached, but to be lived out. It is full of humor and great truths from her life's experiences and of course the Word of God. It deals with many important issues including starting our days with God and, spiritual discernment, making Godly decisions, overcoming rejection etc. All the devotions are meant to remind us that we are embraced as God's children! And we are loved by God, our creator who loves us so much, and that he has given us his Son, Jesus Christ, and has written us the Bible, a love letter to us. I am definitely reading more of Lysa's books!

Subtitled “100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close”, this book had some excellent devotionals. Among my favorites were ones which listed key thoughts, such as one on humility, which made the points that God is our provider, providing what we need but not always what we want, and providing what protects our hearts. Her devotionals seemed aimed at someone getting used to a walk with God rather than at those who have matured in their faith.
At times she belabored points, and at times her self-consciousness (such as the devotional where she was envious of the shape and size of another woman’s legs) was more than I could take. But I am not a young woman, so a young woman’s perspective and concerns are no longer mine.
The author writes in a clear, straightforward way. After recently reading some writings of other young women, I found TerKeurst’s style refreshing. She said what she meant and meant what she said without using phrasing that sounded self-impressed. I like the fact that I think her writing will stand the test of time.
I received this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review through the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze Program.

I have really been enjoying reading Lysa TerKeurst's latest devotional. It's called Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close. I'm a fan of hers and have enjoyed several of her books. I think The Best Yes is my favorite. I was excited to dive into this devotional. The book is beautiful, hardcover and it feels good in your hands. I found myself reading several days in a row. I didn't want to stop reading. Each day starts with a Bible verse, a devotion and ends with a prayerI loved her stories, her honesty and the fact that I could relate to so many of the things she addresses in this devotional. It feels like you're reading a book a good friend wrote just for you. I'd highly recommend it and look forward to reading it each day. This would be an excellent gift to give to encourage someone you love or to do with a friend. Another great book by TerKeurst!!

Embraced,100 Devotions to Know God Is Holding You Close by Lysa Terkeurst has a sturdy, hard-bound canvas cover with thick pages. There’s even a ribbon to use as a bookmark.
And as usual, Terkeurst’s writing is easy to read and relatable. I’ve always loved how she can tell an honest story and bring a message of biblical truth alive in my heart.
This 100 day devotional is 322 pages and has 4 parts:
Embracing the Pursuit of Him and His Direction
Embracing the Fullness Found Only in Him
Embracing Him in the Midst of Hurt and Heartbreak
Embracing His Call to Be Transformed
Each devotion begins with a scripture and ends with a prayer.
I loved day 9 about feeling overlooked and unappreciated.
“Sometimes I wake up in the morning feeling a little grumpy. Time to do it all again. I’ll buy food that gets eaten. I’ll wash clothes that get dirty again. I’ll sweep floors that will somehow need to be swept again before the day is even done.”
She compares how David was refined by working in the fields and tending to his flock before he became king, and in the same way, our daily tasks refine us.
“In the midst of smelly laundry, dirty dishes, snotty noses, misplaced keys, overdue library books, bills, and that birthday gift that still needs to be mailed—there is training. There is character building. There is attitude shaping. There is soul defining. All of which must take place for us to become what God intends. We aren’t just doing tasks. We are building a legacy.”
I loved day 54 What I Never Noticed About Jesus. She decides to read the miracles of Christ and focuses in on the uncommon sentences in between the actual miracles. These scriptures describe the messy realities of life in the middle of the miracles—Jesus had people laugh at him, reject him and misunderstand him.
Life is messy. And it’s easy to focus on the mess and miss the miracle.
“Oh Lord, please don’t let the messes of life harden my heart and blind me to Your presence.”
There’s a topical index in the back of the book where you can look up devotions about anxiety, criticism, heartbreak, insecurity, loneliness and much more.
“We must process our hurts through the filter of God’s love, not through the tangled places of our hearts.”
I think this is one of my favorite devotionals and I highly recommend it.

About the Book:
Embraced is the beautiful new devotional from Lysa TerKeurst, the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and the New York Times bestselling author of Uninvited, The Best Yes, Unglued, and Made to Crave. Embraced features 100 devotions that will resonate with women in all stages of life by giving them a godly perspective on the issues they face each day.
A real embrace indicates an intimate level of closeness. It’s not a high five or a casual handshake. The best kind of embrace is when someone we know deeply loves us flings their arms wide open and pulls us in close.
Our hearts were made for this kind of love and security but for many of us, we know more about the pain of heartbreak and fear than the unconditional love for which we were created. In Embraced, Lysa shares her own struggles, doubts, and heartbreaks while pointing to the Ultimate Embrace: God opening His arms wide on Calvary through Jesus so that He could pull us close for all of eternity. Welcoming us into the safety and hope of His grace and His love.
And because we have been fully embraced by Him, we can spend our lives held securely by Him and trust all of His ways.
Through these 100 devotions, daily scriptures, and prayer prompts, readers will be equipped to:
Begin to find freedom from the struggles that have held them hostage by learning new ways to experience God’s love and more authentic ways to trust Him.
Surrender their deepest hurts by processing them in a godly way with Lysa, a friend who understands their pain.
Hear the Lord speak intimately to their heart by learning how to seek His direction.
Release the tension of wondering, If God is near why does He sometimes feel far away? by spending intentional, guided time with Him each day.
With an exquisite cloth cover, highly designed interior, ribbon marker, and stained page edges, Embraced will be a treasured keepsake for you as well as a meaningful gift for those you love.
My Review:
This author is one of my favorites. she feels like my very best friend. She can come down on your level and cry it through with you. I just love her to pieces! Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close was for me a long awaited devotion. The author uses things she has learned to take us on a whole other level of intimacy with God.
Just enough devotions to get you through several days or several weeks depending on how you choose to go about it. Each one better than the previous. So many things hit home with my personal life. Like trusting God with our lives. It is a very hard concept to do. I think our main worry is we wont be happy with what God chooses for us. It is daunting especially if you are trying to stay in Gods will.
This devo is a real good one and one I will keep at my bedside for awhile.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Embraced is the latest from Lysa Terkurst. Her book contains 100 devotions that will encourage you on your daily walk with God. Lysa has compiled thoughts from her many books. As Lysa shares her own struggles with drawing closer to God, she will encourage you on your own faith journey!
Lysa's book would be a perfect gift for anyone in your life seeking to know God in a deeper way!
The hard copy is a bit heavy. If this is a concern for you, the electronic version would be a great option!

This is such an encouraging devotional. Lysa never disappoints and this is my new favorite devotional that I will be reading the rest of the year.
We all need uplifting and encouraging so first thing in the morning I love reading what Lysa has to say and contemplating on her words.
This is most definitely a 5 star book. It would make a wonderful gift.

I was looking for a new devotional ... and This one popped up on my feed to get to review. I always enjoy hearing Lysa speak and have enjoyed her other books so this one was a no brainer.
On the back of the book this line really caught my attention ... "God doesnt pull back from your sharp edges. He pulls you close. The best kind of embrace is when someone who deeply loves us flings their arms wide open and pulls us close. Our hearts were made for this kind of love and security but many of us know more about the pain of heartbreak and fear."
Most people and churches will push away when life gets hard. They cant handle the hardness that some people will go through. Maybe it is due to their own stupidity or maybe life just dealt a hard blow. Some people may get an embrace for a moment but later get shunned or pushed away .... so the thought of being embraced was intriguing to me.
This book is filled with 100 devotions, daily scriptures and prayer prompts for each day. Each day is a quick read but will get you to thinking about struggles that may be holding on to you or the tension of wondering where God is. Lysa's goal is to help you surrender your hurts by processing them in a healthy way and to hear the Lord speak to your heart by learning to seek him.
This is a great guide to help you if you need structure or a devotional for your daily times with God.

I love, love Lysa TerKeurst. I read her book Uninvited last year and really enjoyed both her writing style and the content. I haven't read this whole devotional yet, but I think there are a couple overlapping stories between the Uninvited book and this devotional. Perhaps there are more from her other books. I haven't read those yet to know for sure. It doesn't bother me because it's been over a year since I read Uninvited and could use the reminder of the lesson/takeaway in her stories. Most of the daily readings look new to me and meaningful. I'm so excited to continue using this!
The actual devotional is the most beautiful devotional I've ever owned. I got the hardback version. The cover is nicely textured and the watercolor look is soft and feminine in person. It's a joy to pick up because it's darling. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The book itself is beautiful with a cloth-feel hardcover and a soft blue color. The interior pages have a watercolor blue edging that is gentle and calming, and the ribbon page marker is classic and helpful. I really enjoy Lysa TerKeurst's devotionals and their accompanying Bible verses. Each devotion begins with a Scripture and ends with a short prayer. For very in-depth study, you'd need to add additional Scripture reading, but this is a refreshing and encouraging devotional book. If you've read many of Lysa's books, you're going to come across some familiar stories, but overall, it's refreshing. And even if I did remember her sharing the pineapple story before, it had been awhile so the point was fresh again.

In Embraced, Lysa TerKeurst Is able to match Bible quotes and meaningful questions for us to ponder with modern day living and with a typical life of a busy suburban mom. Written in a colloquial style this feels like we are sitting with a friend, a very chatty, extroverted, open friend. These are not shallow ponderings, throughout she is questioning how we can live a life with meaning and purpose and how we can make a difference in the world. Each devotion is three pages long.
This is a hard cover book with a cloth cover the pages are thick and the whole book is decorated with aqua blue text and decoration. The binding is sown and it is comfortable to hold and lovely visually. Rating 5 stars = Love It.

What an amazingly gorgeous book. I love Lysa TerKeurst. The book itself has a fabric-like cover and the pages within are sturdy and beautiful. With a ribbon attached bookmark, it is easy to always find your place. Inspiring words to help you through each day is brought beautifully forth on each page. I love how Lysa shares her own personal struggles and makes difficult times in ones life relatable and gives the reader hope and a feeling of strength.
Embraced is truly a wonderful devotional to Bless yourself with or anyone who needs a bit of strength and hope.
*I received a copy of Embraced free through the store Vine in exchange for my honest thoughts and feelings.

EMBRACED: 100 DEVOTIONALS TO KNOW GOD IS HOLDING YOU CLOSE by, LYSA TERKEURST is surprisingly larger then I imagined. I love the layout. The parts separated by subject matter, the coloring to identify daily scripture, devotional, and prayer prompts. Each devotional has all you need in just a few pages. I especially love and appreciate the prayer prompts.

Such a beautiful book. After reading it, I shared it with a friend who has unexpectedly lost her husband at a young age. She has told me several times how much comfort she finds in the devotions. This would be an excellent choice as a "gift book" for anyone who has experienced loss, or who needs support and encouragement.

Absolutely a beautiful, helpful devotional. Nice size to carry and use. Gentle but powerful words meant to help you in times of struggle or daily trials. Having been estranged from my daughter for 5 months, starting this book has helped me tremendously.

The devotions themselves are wonderful. I took away 2 stars for the cover. This is not an ordinary hardback cover, but rather a cloth one. They covered a book in white book cloth..... So, now it's going to pick up every little bit of dirt that may be on my hands or any surface I place it on. If I had known, I would've bought the e-book instead.

This devotional Is just what I needed in my current season. I felt drawn to it immediately and was initially unsure why, until I started reading and I knew God was speaking to me through Lysa’s words. It has been a blessing to me and I am extremely grateful for it. Can’t recommend it enough!

I bought this book because of the title (what can be better than knowing that God is holding me close!!) and because I have read other books of Lysa's. She never disappoints! This book is so full of real life issues and solutions that I have bought at least 10 and sent to friends and family. You will love this book!

I like that this gives a nice short devotion with a few verses to follow. I feel like the writing is a bit too casual however.. I feel like I have read the same story five different times. I still continue to use it as a guide for my daily focus however and will finish the book in time.

Love the short and heartfelt daily devotions. Messages speak directly to the reader and do not require you to take a full dive into the lesson to pull something away from it. This is my first Lysa devotion and I would definitely purchase other devotions from her. She has a way of speaking to you without you feeling bad about yourself or your relationship you either have or or trying to build. Love the short message, one or two bible versus and closing prayer, things to reflect on during the day. I am a busy mom with multiple children so this is perfect for reading and praying about over my quick cup of coffee before the kids get up.
