Writing style was excellent, now the author just needs to work on being original in his ideas. Seemed like nothing more than taking ideas and barely changing them to put them in. I could trace almost everything back to games, and books I have already read. Weapons and backstory from Dante's Inferno game. Characters and imagery from Diablo. Story ideas from all kinds of places, even the bible. Has the premise to be a great author if handed original ideas to write about. This was an easily thrown together compilation of mediocrity.

Great fun with an interesting story and enjoyable, if generally superficial characters. Some dialogue used by the characters is distractingly out of place from the Norse medieval setting like "Mr-Fancy-Pants" and "Dagnabit," but generally a good writing style that I think improves with later books. I took the bait line and sinker for this free hook, purchasing the later books in the series. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a good fantasy story.

Three Book Bundle - extremely detailed descriptions bog down the story, making it a slow read and the overuse of the character's favorite cuss word "dagnabbit" makes them sound like a bunch of hillbillies. Other terms such as Mr. Know it All, Mr. Fancy Pants, and lazy bugger make the characters sound like adolescents in a school yard.

Thater weaves a creative and vivid fantasy/mythology series. I'm mid-way through the 6th book and don't regret purchasing the later copies, though I'm not happy he hasn't wrapped up his yarn yet. Great heroes, monsters, not-so-subtle political intrigue, and overall a fun read.

That's the good part. On the other side, this series has some of the worst editing I've experienced in 5 years of reading e-books. Spelling errors, punctuation errors (learn how to write dialogue), repeated words, and dismal grammar. Bespeckled does not equal bespectacled, too doesn't equal to, and on and on. It doesn't impede comprehension, but very sloppy stuff.

To find something a bit more effective, see some work by Stephen R. Donaldson "Mirror of Her Dreams", or some Joe Abercrombe stuff.

The first chapter had my attention. However, the next chapter was very hard for me to read. I actually went and read another 5 books before coming back to it. Having nothing else to read I tried again. The story got more engaging as I read and the 3rd book was the best. As of right now I do not know if I will get the rest of the books. It is good but a bit outside my usual story choices. Wanted to try something different. A good story none the less.

The first book was pretty fast moving and intriguing. But it doesn't take long to figure out that this is a take on Lucifer and the fallen angels changing into the good guys. Not sure if I"m going to purchase the books. It's just not that good.

These three books in one binding are actually only the beginning of a much longer series. The writing is quite good and the tale is engaging. Be prepared, though, as the third volume leaves you at a critical moment and you will probably have to buy the remaining volumes to relieve your anxiety about your favorite characters fates!

Initial read starts a little slow and predictable but as you get into the post-story lines of initial events the characters start to develop a lot more. So plan on getting over the hump first (About a quarter of first book) and you will enjoy the read of the next two for sure.
