Another fantastic book by insightful author. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The truth of of childhood abuse is covered with understanding for those abused. The abuser is cast in the shadow where he wants to exist.

I first read "The Lavender Keeper" & "The French Promise", these were recommended by a friend. Enjoyed this so much, that I searched for other novels by Fiona McIntosh. Ordered the Quickening Books (3). Could not put them down and I don't usually like these types of stories, but there was never a time when I wanted to speed read through sections of the book, riviting. So caught up in the saga. Have ordered another Saga by Fiona McIntosh (3 books), which are on their to Australia as we speak, cannot wait!! I have read 5 of her books within 2 months, that is a record for me.

This thriller has it all: a great, well-developed group of characters, compelling plotlines about serious modern-day issues, a very capable male author writing in the first person as a woman. Acquire it, start it, and I promise you, you'll devour it.

I have read several of Iles' books and loved everyone. Mr. Iles spoke at my son's graduation from Millsaps in '08 and read my first book then and was hooked. Love the settings and the way he writes then. I have been to several of the locations in my life time and he is right on. I like the recurring characters that live in the Natches area.

The wonderful character development throughout The Quickening kind made me wish that McIntosh would have continued on with the series, but... the ending to Bridge of Souls is abrupt and really does wrap up all the issues. I loved the journey of getting to the end of this trilogy, but the final scenes left me hoping for something different. The "solution" to the Quickening just was too obvious, in my mind.
