This is another fast paced action packed storyline with Bob Burke taking on the New Jersey mob together with his Delta friends. Not good for the bad guys and their friends. There is murder, robbery, CIA misdeeds, high tech action and some romance. There are indications there will be a book 3......great!

Totally captivating yarn, great characters , good plot, lots of action. Very hard to put down. The descriptive words painted a mental movie while reading. I found it on Kindle Unlimited and almost feel guilty reading it for 'essentially free'. $10 a month for a lot of books is a great deal for the Prime reader but I also hope the author are getting a percentage.

This is only my second William Brown book. But it will not be my last.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Good story line and well written. I especially enjoyed the back and forth wordplay between Linda and Bob.
The ending is unbelievable. I could not put this book down, had to finish it because it held my attention so well.
Highly recommend this book.

William Brown continues his legacy of great writing with this latest book. His characters aren't some superhuman heroes who save the world, but are real people with flaws like the rest of us. His writing is sharp and clean, and you have to keep turning pages to see what happens next. This is definitely a five star read!

A great shoot 'em up where the action is nonstop. Some places were a bit predictable (not surprising in this genre) but there were also some surprises. A good entertaining novel for a rainy afternoon or while on a long flight. You won't be bored. I hope this is not the last of the Bob Burke stories.

Burke's Gamble is another fast-paced tale by William Brown. I could not put it down. When you consider that I read an average of five books a week, that is saying something. If you enjoy a good mystery, you will enjoy this novel. Brown leaves nothing to chance in his tales; they are well written and well edited.

Second book of the series and another good action read. I liked it more because it takes place in my old stomping grounds. The South Jersey Shore. Lived 1/4 mile south of he Avalon Blvd. Will be waited for the third book o the series.

Thoroughly enjoyable book, did not want to put it down, unfortunately my enjoyments the end of the book was a little spoiled due to my tablet jumping about and having to find my place again. Am just about to start the last book in this trilogy, but not untiI I have caught up with some sleep

Excellent, hard to put down read. Today's good guys have traded the white hats for stealth black and night vision optics to stay one step in front of Snidely and.his deplorable minions. We joy in the vengeance we evermore see escape through today's politically correct and broken justice system. I look forward to Mr. Burke's continuing adventures!

Fun read! While the plot skimps a bit on realism, it is a pleasure to fantasize that a group of hardened mercenaries ignores the law and lays down all kinds of just desserts on just the deserving. Good guys serve and survive to serve again.

Although many of the basic characters are the same, the style of writing makes this a slightly better book than the first Bob Burke book. The continuing relationship between the current and former members of the ops teams provides a standard of loyalty and support that can be found no where else. This story revolves around the death of Vinnie Pastorini at a casino in Atlantic City. Before the story is over Delta Force operators from other countries, Mafia gangsters, new and old lovers, a Three-Star General a killer cat and other strange things come into play as Burke and the team seek to do the right thing for their fallen buddy. Twist and turns, betrayals and violence keep the reader glued into the book. The writing is so good that you want to read it again, even though you know how it turns out.

Bob Burke ostensibly runs a telecommunications company in Chicago. He’s celebrating three weeks being married when he gets a call – a former fellow Delta Force colleague is in trouble with a casino in Atlantic City. The casino is tied into the New York Mafia crime families. By the time Bob arrives in Atlantic City with $300,000 to pay off the debt, someone has tossed the colleague from a fifth-floor window.
It’s not nice to mess with Bob Burke. The casino sensed three “security men” to Chicago to collect what’s owed. It’s stupid to mess with Burke a second time, and the three thugs soon discover.
At the funeral in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the casino’s payback is plotted out. And then the fun begins.
William Brown’s “Burke’s Gamble” is the second in the Bob Burke Action Thriller Series, the first being “Burke’s War.” The narrative occasionally goes longer than a page without concerted force being applied, but it’s rare. Action ripples across the story so fast that a close read is mandatory to keep track of how fast things move. The pace is wild and riveting.
Prior to beginning the Bob Burke series, Brown write several action-packed suspense novels. All of them are exciting reads, but it’s with Burke that Brown has hit his stride. Deftly combining threads of big-stakes gambling, Mafia control, and special forces action with experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, he weaves a highly entertaining story. A new wrinkle is added with the arrival of former special forces from the Netherlands and Germany whoa re now full-blown mercenaries, and a hunt for purloined gold artifacts stolen from the chaos of the war in Iraq.
Like I said, “Burke’s Gamble” is one wild story.

Bob Burke, retired military and now head of a telecommunications firm, is full of action. He just recently got married, and his vivacious wife hates it when the phone rings- this time its one of his army buddies live-in girlfriend , and they are in big trouble in Atlantic City NJ. Gambling has been Vinnies downfall and they are holding him and his girlfriend until they can come up with money they owe the casino. Thus, Burke to the rescue. This is book number 2 in the series and it just gets better all the time. Burke and his wife go to Atlantic City, and before things are settled, his buddy Vinnie is killed and revenge is needed. Burke calls in his other army buddies and of course the wives/girlfriends won't be left out and off they go. Guns blazing? Cant do to much in a crowded casino... you will just have to read the book to see how they handle it. The internet too can be a mighty weapon! Come on... read it!! You won't be sorry.

When a special ops teammate is murdered for a gambling debt, Burke and his friends take it very personally and what they uncover is an intense and complex series of underlying causes that range from skimming mob money to stealing national treasures from the museums in Iraq.
Great characters, well developed plot, a good handle on weapons and tactics, and plenty of twists and turns whem the best laid plans disintegrate as the first shots are fired. An excellent story -- well told & worth the time.
