This book gives practical tools for dealing/coping with our fast paced, complex lives. Pema explains the fundamental aspects of being human and how we want to grasp for security and groundedness in a world and our own lives, that are always changing, fluid and unpredictable. Uncertainty and change can bring a sense of groundlessness and fear and Pema's book is a guide in how to flow with life rather than resist it.

I find Pema Chodrun's writing to be very accessible, insightful, and very useful in these difficult times. I loved this guide, which helps one understand basic Buddhist approaches and techniques for dealing with difficult situations, conditions, and people, such as most of us, I think, have do grapple with, in contemporary life. Her writing is not dry, pedantic, or pretentious, and I think it would be helpful to non-Buddhist readers as well as one who is more involved in those teachings. (I am not particularly knowledgeable about Buddhist tenets or scriptures, but I find the concepts, practices and perspectives to be very useful and helpful, for dealing with life and for understanding how to to allow appearances and situation overwhelm or control me.)

What a wonderful book about love and kindness. A spiritual journey to our most sacred place - the heart. First commitment - do no harm. A loving and peaceful way to live life. How to get to the depths of pain and stay there, to be able to come out on the other side.

Beautiful and comforting. I have it in my kindle, and read it over, and over again. She writes in a very none preachy way, and makes you feel like she knows what you are dealing with, she has been there.

So very clear, so accessible . Not one word extra, only what is needed for understanding. Direct expression and laying out of a practice that can be followed. If more stars were available, I would give them.

Pema Chodron has managed to write like she has peered inside of my head and saw what needed mending. This book is excellent. Especially so for those of us in our late 40's and 50's, but all ages would benefit.
