A treasure of wisdom and insights in how to navigate through our emotions in the river of life. Pema Chodron expands your conscience and open new ways for exploring the reality of being presence. It's a gift for the spirit.

This book REALLY clarifies the goal(s) of meditation! It probably would be better understood by someone who has meditated for awhile, but is dissatisfied with the results. It's very encouraging to the meditator who compares oneself to others.

Loved this book. Makes the practice of meditation real and describes the practical application in daily life. I especially like telling myself "no big deal" as a means of moving beyond my own ideas, ego and limitations.

I have been practicing transcendental meditation since the early 1970s until now. I switched over to what Pema Chodron is teaching as I study this book on meditation. She has changed my life in a sense. Yea Pema!

Pema Chodron has a very compassionate view regarding our difficulty in staying present during meditation. She asks us to encourage ourselves to return to the breath or present moment in the same way a loving mother would gently entice her baby to open his or her mouth for another spoonful of food.

Very clear and straightforward. Ms. Chodron talks about her own difficulties and the challenges of meditating. She removes any blame, self criticism and makes the whole process seem practical and approachable.

A direct and practical work that beginner meditators will find indispensable. Keeps the religious terminology at arms length. I wanted a book to help guide me in my mediation practice without drowning me in Buddhist terminology or relentlessly repeating to me why the life I have lead for 50 years is obviously fraudulent. This book serves the purpose. I have been meditating very regularly for a few months and I felt the need for some guidance as I extended the amount of time I sit at practice. This book gave immediate results. I have read certain chapters over an d over to remind myself of how to practice properly. The book has depth but is not overly wordy. While it can be immensely difficult and very frustrating, Meditation is simple and a book about it should reflect its simplicity.
