Brilliant, well written, easy to digest, and an easy to understand explanation of the free market system. A perfect book for those just becoming "economically literate" with concepts that translate even to high school aged readers.

Completely changed the way I look at public policy decision making. Milton Friedman is a great teacher and really gets you thinking about the best way to better the lot of mankind.
The kindle text has quite a few typos, but the font is friendly to the eyes.

To anyone who believes in libertarianism, this book is as relevant today as it was when first published. The Friedmans wrote the book with a general audience in mind, so it avoids much of the jargon of economists and rather tries to ground their arguments in good straight forward common sense. The Friedmans for most of their careers were bucking against the economic establishment. Yet so much within the book that they advocated, from sound money to decreasing government intervention in the economy, has come to pass. Even their main belief, school choice, is no longer considered a fantasy but is something under serious consideration.

Many people claim that "Free to Choose" converted them to libertarianism (though Milton Friedman always considered himself a "liberal"). I read this book long after I ended up there. But whether you are interested in libertarianism or have long been converted, this book is an essential part of your education.

Though I don't agree with all the points mentioned by the author, he raises very important questions of government involvement in our lives and the reasons to limit it. Definite read for people interested in understanding why lobbyist exists, why government bodies are ineffective, etc

This is a wonderfully readable first step for the majority of us who never wanted to study ecomonics but know that a free marketplace is integral with living in a free nation. The resounding truth is that political tinkering with our freedom to choose simply never works out.

The fact that this is a partnership holds you from how some get "lost in the weeds" like the younger geniuses tend to do. These people have lived it, and kno what works. Most readers will NOT need any dictionary for this - they break it down to the real world.

What can I say, everyone who loves FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE and lives in the 21st century must read this book. I also HIGHLY recommend the following books

American Heroes: Thoreau and Brown by Lazarashvili
The Road to Serfdom: the Definitive Edition by F. A. Hayek
Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman
The Law by Frederic Bastiat

Written 32 years ago this book is applicable to what is happening in our country today. Milton Freidman was ahead of his time, or maybe free markets never get old. I recommend this book to anyone interested in freedom and economics. It is a relatively easy to understand, even for those of us without a background in economics or a lot of higher education.

I wish every member of congress would read this book. Although written in 1980, Milton and Rose Friedman's words are just as relevant today. With uncanny accuracy they predict the future and dictate a cure to our nations economic ills. If you care about America, you must read this book.

What a well-written book. It is logical, concise, and extremely useful. How nice to find excellent books that do not waste words! This book needs to be read in schools and by all who need a useful crash course in economics.

Friedman has a great talent for clear and concise explanation. The result, coupled with the fact that he is a gifted economist and highly deserved winner of nobel prize, is a deeply informative and easy to read book. His written style shines with intelligence and understanding. Each chapter has a corresponding free documentary online just in case you missed anything or still have doubts. You will learn a lot about economics and the realities of economic policy. Take it as a free market primer, an introduction or as an alternative to mainstream economic wisdom of the Kenesian school. Very good read.

Download to my Kindle. Perfect as always. Kind of depressing, though, to hear what could have been vs. what will be with the Obama regime re-elected. Not much choosing or freedom in the future of working US citizens.

I purchased this book for school. The contents are interesting though I may not agree with all of his ideas. But his ideas are similar to my economics professor. The book helps me see another view point and why our economics are as they are at the moment.

An enjoyable way to learn economics and the capatalist system and why it works. Everyone should read it and learn.
It makes you value our freedoms more and want to work harder to keep them: It's what made and should keep the
country great.

Milton Freedman has the answers to ALL economic challenges we face. We need not do anymore analysis but follow his simply stated and well-thought out answers to any issue from education, environmental protection, healthcare, unionization or taxation. All solutions to these challenges have their basis in one principle: the power of individual choice. Individual liberty and rights are what allow each of these ideas to flourish. The obviousness of the logic is so powerful and historical evidence so vast that the only reasons we have not implemented all of these ideas as a society in total are ignorance or the desire for some to subjugate others to their will. If the USA will ever reach it's utimate destiny it must get these ideas fully implemented.

Every high school and college student should be required to read this terrific book. Provides great perspective on the success and benefits of freedom versus the historical failure of collectivism pushed by the media, the entertainment and the American education systems for years

I'm a conservative. My college economics professor was a protégé of Milton in Chicago. It's hard to believe that Chicago is in the sorry state that is in now with influences like the Friedman's to use as a model for managing a city. What am I to know, except that this book, and their other, "Capitalism and Freedom", represent real common sense knowledge for running a country, or a city. Ronald Reagan understood.
