Andrew Peterson is no stranger to loss and heartache, but this time around he’s struggling to find his way back from the dark despite the efforts of his friends and family. When a letter arrives and leaves him with yet more questions, he’ll embark on an emotional journey to look for the answers that might give him the inner peace he craves so badly.
Holland St. James is the girl he’s always loved, the one that moved away after one perfect summer together and is now back in town. Andrew will ask her to come along on his trip and they’ll embark together on the journey of their lives.
Unbreak my Heart is a different kind of second chance romance. Though both Andrew and Holland want to find the path that will bring them back together, this story is more about Andrew finding his way to mend his broken heart in order to fully give it to her. It’s a beautiful, heartbreaking story about love, selflessness, learning to heal oneself and making amends.
Through this journey Ms. Blakely takes the reader on an emotional tour as seen through the eyes of a grieving man on his quest to come to terms with an immeasurable loss and a way to stay with the woman he loves.

Unbreak My Heart is unlike anything we have read from Lauren Blakely in a long time. This book was filled with intense, and raw emotion. I will say this book was kind of sad and depressing, heartbreaking if you will, to read in the beginning, but you’ll understand why once you read this story. But as the story goes, this is so much a story of healing and finding your happy.
I was so looking forward to this book, it was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018. I wanted to see a new side of Lauren that we haven’t seen in awhile. I wasn’t disappointed. Now don’t get me wrong we did get some of what we expect from a Lauren Blakely book, but this was also something new and fresh. Like I said, your emotions will be all over the place with this story. Your heart will break, but in the end your heart will be healed and you will be left with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart.
In this story we follow the story of Andrew and Holland. This story is truly Andrew’s story and the people that are in his life. It’s his journey to healing and finding love again. Andrew is all alone in the world after he brother’s recent death. Struggling to move on and find his happy again, Andrew turns to his friends and the people who knew him and his brother best. But mixed into all of this is also a second chance romance with Holland. Andrew and Holland had a summer romance 3 years ago, until she moved to Tokyo with her family for school. Now three years later and she is back. Can these two reignite their passion?? What happens when distance threatens to tear them apart again?? Can they finally get their HEA and find their happy?? Read this story to find out.
Unbreak My Heart is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow of the story worked well. I did however find the pace a little on the slower side than I like, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will say this, you do have to be in the mood for an emotional read when you go into this book. If you aren’t in the mood for this type story then I don’t think you will enjoy it as much as others.
I would recommend this book to all readers who love Lauren Blakely’s books. Also if you are a fan of a second chance romance this is one you should add to your TBR list.

Dear Lauren Blakely,
I’m sure while you were writing Andrew and Holland’s story that you felt a wide range of emotions, not only for what your characters were going through but also perhaps due to an array of memories of what you and those closest to you have had to deal with when it comes to grief, depression, loss, and loneliness, death, and cancer. These are not easy subjects to discuss or explore, but I can assure you that they desperately need to be; because if society talked openly about these topics then perhaps people could breathe easier...feel more comfortable to share their pain and their thoughts with others to prove just how alike they are and how their hearts struggle and break just like everyone else’s do.
I have firsthand experience with what cancer, death, and grief can do to a family; I live with its effects still, almost on a daily basis, and it’s heartbreaking and emotionally draining, but it helps to know that I’m not alone in this fight or in these feelings and I gain strength from knowing that others stand beside me.
Andrew and Holland’s feelings for one another resonate from the pages of Unbreak My Heart, but so do their individual dreams and goals, and while, at times, they find themselves off balance, contemplating what their next moves should be and how they’ll fit into each other’s lives, they slowly find their way...find the path that’s meant for each of them alone as well as the one that will allow them to finally get it right, find a balance, and be together in every way possible.
Another valuable lesson that Unbreak My Heart teaches readers is that life is not easy and people can’t control other people’s actions, which sometimes means that they must deal with things that they never wanted to endure, but that doesn’t mean that life stops...that love stops...it just means that it needs to be handled in a way that allows forward movement, even if there are set backs and it almost feels impossible.
What’s most intriguing and worthwhile about this story is how Andrew learns to live...learns to accept the circumstances that he’s in...learns to forgive himself and others for past misdeeds because in the grand scheme of things, focusing on regrets and painful moments forces Andrew to simply exist when he’s meant to flourish and to enjoy life’s precious moments.
While readers may be used to and adore your romantic comedies, I’m so grateful for this story...for these characters...for your ability to tell, what has to be one of the most profound love stories that I’ve read in a long time, because it’s a love that has multiple categories and layers - love of self...love of family...love of friends...and the deepest love that can be felt between two people despite time apart and the struggles that occur.
Some readers may feel that a heart cannot be unbroken…that once it’s fractured, it’s impossible to heal or be whole again, but through Andrew and Holland’s story, it’s clear that a heart most definitely can be repaired, and while all of its pieces may not fit into their old places, a new overall structure can be created, solidifying all parts, perhaps bending some in order to fit, but leaving not a single piece completely broken.
Thank you for telling Andrew and Holland’s story…for having the courage to write something that your readers may feel is too different from what they’ve come to expect from you because this book is a beautiful reminder to live every moment of every day in the best way possible because despite life’s difficulties, it offers limitless opportunities to grow, to love, and to cherish all that life alters.

Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster with this fantastic book. This author always makes me laugh and feel good and I always get wrapped up in her books and the wonderful characters she creates. This book is in my opinion her best yet, it completely ripped my heart out of my chest from the very beginning and then slowly I mended just like Andrew did. I was so wrapped up in this story and these characters that I truly hurt for them. This story is something we can all relate to, it's dealing with the loss of someone we love and at some point in our lives and we all deal with this and we all handle the pain differently. To experience the hurt and gut wrenching pain that Andrew was dealing with just ripped me apart emotionally. I could feel his pain and I wanted to crawl into the book and hug him.
Holland is such a brave, strong woman and I envy her character. To love someone so much that you realize you must step back and force them to heal on their own. To not be their crutch or drug, they must learn how to survive and move on with their life in their own way. I loved her character throughout the entire book. She is willing to sacrifice her heart so that Andrew can heal.
The love these two have for one another is epic and they have to take a journey, literally to get to where they need to be. This book made me tear up several times both for being sad and for being truly happy. You will still get the funny, sexy back and forth banter you are used to with a Lauren Blakely book but you are going to get so much more. In this book she shows us how to hurt and it be ok to just hurt and then how to pick ourselves up and start the healing process. To understand we are the only one that can make us happy again, nothing or no one can do that for us. To also understand life has difficult choices we all have to make and we have to make our own decisions. No one can choose for us and we can’t choose our path for someone else, and in the end we have to be at peace with those decisions. This is my favorite book so far for 2018. I received an early copy to read and review. 10 stars for sure on this one. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.

This book....THIS. BOOK!!!! Lauren Blakely has gone and broken my heart into a million pieces and just when I thought I would never feel whole again, she went and pieced it back together stitch by intricate stitch to completely heal me. Unbreak My Heart is an emotionally beautiful story that will make you feel a rollercoaster of emotions from happiness to heatbreak and everything in between. Blakely breaks readers heart and then, as the title suggests, unbreaks them in the most powerful and meaningful ways.
In Unbreak My Heart, Blakely steps away from her recent light, fun rom-coms and goes deep, penning a heartwrenching tale that hits all the right notes. Readers....you'll want to have tissues handy because this one will surely make you cry. I swear I had a lump in my throat for most of the book! But you'll also laugh and swoon as well because it wouldn't be a Lauren Blakely book without these signature touches. You will fall in love with the characters and won't want the story to end. The dynamic between Andrew and Holland is complex and deep. Their history rich, these two compliment each other in so many ways. Their flirty, fun banter gives a lightness to an otherwise heavy storyline of pain and loss. Andrew struggles throughout the story but Holland is there to lift him up and help him heal as he searches for answers to a life-altering event. She's his true north and ultimately these two beautiful souls get their much deserved happy ending.
Unbreak My Heart is a story of healing. It's finding the strength within to push forward, to really live, when all hope seems lost. It's about the journey for answers and about finding peace. Blakely nails it all to create one of my favorite books of hers to date. It's powerful and beautiful and worthy of way more stars than I am allowed to give it. I always say that Blakely's books are not to be missed and Unbreak My Heart is just one more example of her stellar work. Words truly cannot do this book justice. 5+++++ stars

After experiencing more than his fair share of loss, Andrew feels himself slipping away, he's numb to feelings, everyday is the same; wake up, mourn, and then struggle to fall asleep at night. He has even taken to using his pain and loss to his advantage and convincing his cousin to complete the simplest tasks for him, but he knows before long she is going to stop and force him out of his shell and convince him it's time to face the world again. But he's just not ready to...
But then a beautiful and caring nurse wanders back into his life, and she brings memories of a happier time, a time that he has thought of a thousand times, and wanted back. Now that she is back he starts to believe this is their time, even if she is just there momentarily, but pulling her into this disaster he he is currently living in, wouldn't be fair to her... but he doesn't think he can survive losing her all over again.
Unbreak My Heart is a gut-wrenching roller coaster ride that is riddled with many highs and lows; one minute you are feeling the unwavering connection between the characters, and the next you are feeling the separation they are creating by fear. This beautifully crafted tale will do a number on your heart and your emotions, you can't help but feel for Andrew and his unimaginable loss, he darn near broke my heart. But every now and then I saw glimpses of a man who was ready for a change, and a man willing to open his heart to love, and it was hard to not root for that man, no matter how stubborn he happened to be. I thoroughly enjoyed this one; it was well written, full of angst and emotion to tug on the heartstrings, and of course comes equipped with an unforgettable couple with scorching chemistry that brings a little heat to the pages too! Highly recommend this one, I promise you won't be disappointed with what you find between the pages!! I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I'm writing this review through blurred vision, with tears still welling up in my eyes even after I let some time pass before I started writing it.
This book is so amazing. I’d heard rumblings that this was going to be an emotional journey and it definitely delivered on that.
Before I even finished the first chapter I wanted to latch onto Andrew and never let him go. He’s not our typical book boyfriend. His charm and sex appeal doesn’t leap off the pages. He’s not alpha or a bad boy or even a man with much direction in his life right now. He’s lost, he’s broken, he’s looking for answers to help him heal. His life is in chaos and there’s only one thing that can speed the process along - but he can’t have her.
Holland is just what Andrew needs. She’s beautiful both inside and out and wants nothing more than to take away everything Andrew has had to endure, but she can’t. All she can do is let him work through his chaos and hope that he finds her when he figures it all out.
This book was a beautiful journey. It was definitely Andrew’s story to tell and I promise you that you’ll fall head over heels for him by the time you read ‘The End.” This book is both heartwarming and heartbreaking but have no fear - Lauren Blakely will put you back together again.
A five-star emotional journey that will definitely require a box of tissue.

This book!! It’s not kidding, it will break your heart, but then it’ll put it back together again. Soo, so good.
Andrew Peterson is a young guy who’s been through the wringer and he feels it. Well, actually, he doesn’t. He’s disconnected from his life, having reached the depths of despair and is relying on friends to help him make it through the day. He’s been drawn to the dark side to dull the pain that resides in his heart. There’s only one person who will make it better and even though she’s in his life for now, she won’t be for long.
Holland St. james has loved Andrew for as long as she can remember. They had a sweet, wonderful summer three years ago when they were 22, but they still had school to finish. Andrew his law degree and Holland her nursing. Neither wanted to be apart but Holland’s college was thousands of miles away, across an ocean. They always meant to get back together at some point, but not like this.
Holland worries that Andrew needs her for the wrong reasons, she wants to be there for him, but not as a crutch.
Andrew needs answers to the questions burning a hole in his head and when the chance comes to get these answers he takes it, traveling across that once dividing ocean in search of the truth and everlasting love.
This book torn me up. I cried so hard. It’s so heartbreaking at times but those are more than made up by the heartwarming ones that follow.
Grab a box of tissues and be prepared to use it with this second chance romance.

Unbreak my Heart by Lauren Blakely is a stand-alone novel that blew my mind!! Everyone knows that I love Ms. Blakely and her witty characters, but I absolutely ADORE this side of her even more. I can’t even begin to tell you how much Unbreak My Heart touched me...but I am going to try.
Andrew has had so much loss in his life with losing his parents when he was younger. Now after the loss of his brother, Drew is finding it hard to accept it. He is spiraling out of control and finding it hard to grasp reality. With more questions than answers, Drew embarks on a journey to find his purpose again alongside his past summer-fling Holland. She is so much more than that but she knows Drew has to heal on his own before they can ever start over. Will he be able to find himself again? Will Holland and Drew rekindle their love? Will it all be worth it in the end?
“We spend so much of our time fighting death, as we should. But sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves, and in turn the ones we love, is to let go.”
Unbreak My Heart is hands down one of my favorite books I read this year. My heart literally broke and was slowly put back together. It is full of self-discovery and accepting the inevitable. Loss and hope. Love and friendship. After I finished reading, I sat there with tears streaming down my face with the biggest smile ever. Drew and Holland’s story is unforgettable and you honestly do not want to miss it!!!

I haven't been reading Lauren Blakely for very long, but this latest book is a pleasant surprise and different from the other books I've read by her.
Andrew Peterson is a man in so much pain, not physical pain, but emotional. You can feel how broken he is by the way he conveys his journey. In one word he is numb to the world and people around him. Holland St. James is the one that got away, she's a nurse and used to fix people due mostly to her profession. When her and Andrew are reunited she becomes the light at the end of the tunnel, the one that can bring him out of that dark place he's been living in. But will enable him to use her as the person who can heal him will help Andrew or would it be just a temporary band aid?
As the book progresses, we start seeing the hero, not forgetting, but learning to live again, healing and looking at the people around him and his day by day differently. I don't want to give many details about the story because I believe this is one everyone should read, there are lessons we all could use from it.
This is a beautiful story, while heartbreaking at times it's also very uplifting, it gives the reader hope that there is life after a tragic loss. The author did an outstanding job putting together the storyline as well as the characters, you can truly feel the intense suffering they're going through.
I highly recommend this book.

All the stars and then some!!! Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely is hands down one of favorite books by this author to date. It was so unlike her other books. So different from the rom coms we've come to expect. Heartbreakingly beautiful, full of angst and love. It's a journey of self healing and living life to the fullest. I absolutely loved it! I was so impressed and in awe of Lauren Blakely's words.
If I could have reached into the pages and hugged Andrew, I would have on multiple occasions. He has had so much loss in his life. My heart hurt for him. His most recent loss left him more broken and jaded than any before it. When he receives a letter that leaves him with questions surrounding his brother's last year of life, he and the only girl he's ever loved take off to Japan to seek answers.
Once again Lauren Blakely does a incredible job describing the setting. She paints this gorgeous picture of a country I've never been to but have now added to my list of places to see. She makes it feel like we are right there with Andrew and Holland in Japan.
I cannot recommend Unbreak My Heart enough!! Lauren Blakely's writing is brilliant, and perfect and I just loved it so much!! Pick this beauty up immediately!

This book ruined me. I found myself emotionally invested immediately. My heart broke and tears fell for Andrew throughout his entire story. His pain was so evident and palpable. His loss left him broken and alone. I just wanted to hold him and comfort him. I could feel his heartache and it consumed me too. The flashbacks alone wreaked havoc on my my heart.
Andrew is struggling to find the answers he needs in order to move on and find peace. As he tries to piece together and understand a family tragedy, unexpected revelations take him on a tumultuous journey. One where his heart is vulnerable in more than one way.
Unbreak My Heart is a beautifully written, emotional story about self exploration, healing, and second chances. Andrew’s story is very different than anything I’ve read from Lauren Blakely. It has the same heat and humor, but it is much deeper and thought provoking than her others. I loved it! I enjoyed the depth and emotion each character brought to the story. I loved the message that this story gives. It couldn’t be any more true.
Be sure and grab your tissues before you read Andrew and Holland's story. It’s a good one!

A Review of Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely
Andrew and Holland - 5+++++ Stars
In a complete departure from the normal style of book I'm used to getting from Ms. Blakely, this book had me hooked from the first page. Ms. Blakely certainly knows how to write a story that will rip your heart out and then piece it back together, bit by bit. I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book without knowing anything about it—no blurb or character names. There are some funny parts and some very touching parts as well as those scenes that will tear your heart apart. Make sure you have plenty of tissues around, because I was doing the whole ugly cry during the last couple of chapters. I happen to think tears are carthatic for a lot of us and this author definitely takes you on a journey with this one. This is one book that I will purchase so that I can re-read it multiple times, even knowing how much it is going to hurt. It's going on my list of top 5 books this year.
Favorite quote:
“At the end of my life, when I’m looking back, will I regret not doing this?”

Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely is not the typical romance we have come to expect. It is an introspective examination of grief and digging out of the sadness that weighs a person down.
This book is so much more than a romance. It looks at how a soul heals, how we get better emotionally and mentally, even when our bodies can’t or won’t . It is about a journey to live a life worth having, to grab everything it has to offer. At the end of it, I felt the need to do all things I ever wanted to do in my life, accomplish all my goals, to live my best life now.
Although this isn’t the standard rom-com we have come to love from Lauren Blakely, it still has characters and a city to adore and the steamy scenes we expect from Ms. Blakely. The more serious tone of the novel creates more serious themes, but they are ideas worthy of exploration and they will inspire readers.
Readers are going to be enamored with the emotional journey Lauren Blakely takes them on with Andrew and Holland. It will hurt and be painful, but there is healing at the end. There is purpose in the hurt. It is truly a ride worth taking.

Words are not adequate to describe the impact this story has. It’s a change in direction for Lauren Blakely. It’s a second chance love story, Andrew and Holland (the girlfriend, not the country). It’s about death and coping with loss. It’s about moving forward from that loss and along the journey finding love, generosity, self realization and maybe peace. Life is short, make it count.
Make sure you have a box of tissues before reading! But saying that, there is humor, witty dialogue, and the sights, sounds and foods of Japan. I cried buckets, but also laughed and loved Andrew and Holland. Now I want to go to Japan as well as France!

Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely is a standalone romance different from those you've read from her before.
"...intense, wonderful, and hopeful."
With emotional depth, in the very real experiences of devastating loss & the journey to finding your way back to the living. "Like getting lost and being found." Heartache & broken promises made in a time of summer love. Between characters who have a connection that is "...more than chemistry and stronger than history." You'll love the raw honesty, steamy romance & "...banter, about robots and sunshine and sandwich toppings." LB humor.
Gut wrenching - "...words hit me in the gut." from the start... "...what I wouldn't give for another day." A story of healing & finding peace & the possibilities of dreams unrealized. Heartwarming support between family, rock star caliber friendships. And of course between friends, turned lovers, turned friends. All with twists & unexpected surprises that span across an ocean, making this a page turner all the way to the tear jerking & endearing end.
"A life filled with love, with family, with hope."
I love this new take on story telling from LB.
A beautiful & sexy read.

Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely is a heart wrenching, but also heartwarming, story of loss, family, love, romance and healing.
The novel focuses on Andrew who has just lost his brother and no longer has living family close to him. He’s on his own and grieving. His friends, neighbors and everyone around him are giving him leeway to do anything, and he knows it. They are supportive of him, but in truth he needs more. He needs to discover himself, find his life again.
Holland is different from all the other people. Not only her past history with Andrew but her background makes her a person who can actually help him, and she wants to. As they journey together, grief and personal history cause a very complicated dynamic that makes this a different and special book by Ms. Blakely.
These characters are complex and give a real feeling of connection while still being romantic and witty as they progress through their ups and downs. The characters and the emotions they feel within the novel are very well displayed through the audiobook.
Joe Arden and Erin Mallon lend their talents for some great narration. I enjoyed listening to the Arden and Mallon the most when they had to read the emotional parts because I felt the narrators changed the dynamic of their voices in a good way, so much so that it added more to the experience of listening to the novel for the first time even though I already read the book previously.
Overall, Unbreak My Heart by Lauren Blakely is a great story that brings out real feelings from readers and listeners, alike. The narrators, Joe Arden and Erin Mallon, bring Ms. Blakely’s characters of Andrew and Holland to life. I would happily recommend the audiobook.

A great emotional story of love, loss and finding it again. Lauren Blakely has a way with words, the feels she evokes in this heartfelt story is everything.
The highs, the lows and everything in between keeps you vested until the end. I highly recommend this read.

But the only question is will you learn something as you heal? This story is set in LA and Tokyo. Lots of heartbreak right from the start. But the characters are already sad when you meet them. So while you feel bad for them, it didn't make me bawl as often happens if you love the character and then something bad happens. And now a bit about the story...
Andrew is all set to graduate law school and join the family firm. But then his brothers cancer comes back. And while Andrew does manage to finish classes, he's having a hard time caring about anything else. The firm doesn't need him, thanks to the family success and his brother's will, Andrew owns the firm. The only thing he can focus on is numbing the pain. And trying to ignore his first love, Holland, who came back to care for his dying brother. Now will be ever be prepared to move on, and what happens when he gets surprising news... Will he just treat back into the bottle?
Favorite passage: I know there are no guarantees, not in life and not in love.
Note: I was given a free copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

Perhaps it was the timing, having just experienced loss in my own life, but this book... So many feels. For me it was a story of hope and acceptance and true love in its purest form. I loved this book. I purchased the audio version, and while both narrators did an excellent job, Joe Arden's performance was impeccable. This is one to listen to if you think you don't like audio. Five well deserved stars.

Unbreak My Heart is not Lauren's typical fun romance. It's so much more. Don't get me wrong it is a love story but, the love story isn't the primary focus. Andrew is on a journey of understanding and healing. This journey is one that you want to take. This book is so beautifully written. I did go into it without reading the blurb. I'm glad I did. I'll read anything she writes. She is a one-click author for me. This story was so different and unique but, it still had all of what we love and expect from Lauren. It's in a beautiful setting with fantastic characters. It definitely made me evaluate my goals in life. It made me want to be a better person. That makes it a great book in my opinion.
"Sometimes, you just need a good woman.

When I’ve read Lauren Blakely’s other books, I was laughing. This isn’t one of her rom-coms. I knew it wasn’t before going it. I was in the mood for a tear jerker, so I thought this would give me all the feels.
While I did feel bad for everything that Andrew had to go through because of Ian’s death, and I was sad, and felt for him, it just didn’t give me the feels I wanted.
This is a second chance with a past love story, it’s also about finding yourself and moving on with your life.
Holland and Andrew have known each other for a very long time. They had one summer where they were together. Their university and studies took them to different parts of the world. So they did end things on good terms. This book is a few years later and them finding themselves again. They both still love each other. But, Andrew’s grief is in the way right now.
I did like the characters, but I just wasn’t connecting with them how I love to while I read. This is very well written and the story line is decent.
Having lived in Japan for 3 years, I loved reading about places that I’ve been to.
I would say give this a chance and read it.
I give this a 3.5

OMG I loved this story line between Andrew and Holland and how Andrew had to learn how to move on from his brother's death from Cancer and had to do this on his own without his girlfriend Holland also without the pills and is was so cool how he did it and how he found out that his brother's girlfriend was pregnant and had a baby daughter and he is the uncle of the little girl also how he learned to love his girlfriend on his own without drugs and the pain of his brother and how he wrote letters to all of his friends to let him know how much they meant to him thanks for an amazing book and Lauren is an amazing author

This is a very emotional story about dealing with losing someone you love, not just those that die but also someone you have had a relationship with and desperately want again. Andrew is mourning the loss of his brother, Ian, who dies of cancer. His summer romance from three years previous is a girl he has known all his live. Her name is Holland and she has been in Tokyo attending nursing school. She is back in L.A. now helping Ian as he dies. She is still in love with Andrew but she knows he needs to fight his way back from the loss of his brother and she doesn't want him to use her as his crutch. She needs him to heal and come back to her for her and not as someone to get him through the day. Andrew embarks on an emotional journey to Japan to meet his brothers girlfriend and to find out more about his brother. He is surprised at what he discovers about his brother, himself and Holland. It is a journey of self-discovery and healing and written so well by this author. I felt his pain, loss, trying to make it through the day and gradually his way back to his girl Holland. A great story with lots of depth to the characters and I highly recommend this book.

This has everything you want in a great book. There are lots of emotions both happy and dad but so sweet you won't put it down.
This is not the usual type of story by Ms. Blakely. It is a gut wrenching story of love, sorrow and a second chance at that happy ending.

Unbreak My Heart is not your usual Lauren Blakely Rom Com! This is a fiercely emotional tale of dealing with profound loss and coming out on the other side.
Andrew Peterson is the youngest of three children, he lost his parents at the age of 18 and his older brother Ian became thick as thieves. Ian passed away 7 years later to cancer. This storey is how Andrew deal with the loss of his older brother and best friend.
It's a truly beautiful storey and one that will rip your heart out!

WOW… WOW… WOW!!!! I’m not sure what ese to say. I have always loved Lauren Blakely’s books and she did not disappoint with Unbreak My Heart. It was not the normal fun romantic comedy type she usually writes but it was amazing anyway. This book gave me ALL the feels. I could not put this book down. I finished it in a day. IT was so intense at times and I just wanted to know more and more. Andrew and Hollands relationship was so sweet. I loved how Holland knew to give Andrew the space and support for him to heal in a healthy way and make their relationship stronger. I would recommend this book to all my book loving friends. But beware it can be a tear jerker at times. Everyone should read this book!!

This is definitely different to what I am used to from this author. It was very heavy, so emotional and extremely sad. It is a well written tale that is not only a second change romance, it’s also heartbreaking and dealing with a little sole searching.
Andrew has experienced more than any twenty-five year old should have to. He has relied on his brother Ian in so many ways that they were each other’s best mate. Now that’s gone. There is only one person left to give him any sense of normalcy and family. Holland wants to be that person for Andrew, but it has to be for the right reasons. She then travels with him as he makes a journey of self discovery and gets more of an insight to his brother’s life in Japan. Andrew is not the only one who learns things about them self. Holland realizes she has incredible strength that is tested when dealing with all of Andrew’s issues. She is patient with him in giving him space to work through his grief. I think she’d make an excellent mother in the years ahead.
While I found the first half of the book quite depressing, I was only misty while reading the last letter. I was glad the tempo became more uplifting as the book progressed. It is not actioned pack in the sense of activity, more that it’s packed full of angst and emotions. As long as you know that going in, you will enjoy this novel.

Lauren Blakely normally writes light-hearted romcoms but decided to switch it up by writing an angsty emotional second chance romance. I had no doubt that Lauren would nail this one! I love second chance romances! This was such a good book & made me feel all the feels! It shows if you truly love someone, you have to be willing to risk getting your heart broken. Another amazing book by Lauren Blakely!! It’s a page turner and I couldn’t get enough of it. This is a story of love and loss and the emotions that one faces through times such as these. Andrew has just lost his brother Ian and going through some difficulties adjusting to the lose. Loved Andrew and Holland! It’s a sweet and touching story! Totally loved Sandy who was Ian’s dog that now belongs to Andrew. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that is so worth the time! I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a great read!

Andrew. Grief stricken. Angry. Hollow.
Holland. She’s in love with a man who is so deeply lost in his grief that all it takes is her to light his face.
She needs more and he’s going to have to find his way. Through the grief. To heal his heart and soul. To give and receive love. To Holland.
It’s a journey from LA to Tokyo and the supporting cast of characters are wonderful. My heart was breaking along with Andrew’s. And his journey not only healed him but my heart as well.

Andrew and Holland are best friends but they used to be so much so much more though. When Holland comes home ,of course she's going to spend time with her best friend. She's going to be there for him through the hardest thing he's ever had to go through.
I loved both of these characters! The friends that were for Andrew when he needed them the most, trying to pick him up, make him smile, do whatever was needed. He was grateful for them but he needed Holland the most.
Made my heart ache for both Andrew and Holland for different reasons. When together, they tried to forget the outside world for awhile but is she being a crutch for him? Will he be able to stand on his own without her or will he be not be able to cope? Will the answers he finds be the answers he was actually looking for or will he wish he never went looking that far?

This was a little bit different from what we have used from Lauren Blakely yet so good!
“I love you so much it hurts, and it hurts so good. Keep making it hurt. I need it. I need you.”
It was emotional and it made me cry and laugh and my heart was so full and I was aching and I was swooning. So many things happening in my head sigh this story is unique.Make sure you have plenty of tissues around, because I was doing the whole ugly cry during the last couple of chapters.

Lauren Blakely has written a very special book, Unbreak My Heart. Andrew and Holland find themselves with broken hearts, living apart, and yearning for each other. After Andrew's brothers death, Andrew is on the path to falling apart. He has been able to avoid that by leaning on his friends. Holland is one of those friends, although her support system may only be temporary. Can Andrew and Holland un-break their hearts and find their way back to each other?

This was definitely a different read for me and it did take me a little while to get into. However, in saying that, this was truly an emotional read and maybe that's why it took me a little longer...I needed time to absorb it.
Emotional story about someone who's lost what he feels is everything and his journey to find resolution to his unanswered questions and the realizations that he makes along the way. Finding the strength within himself.

I will continue to listen/read (because I buy from both mediums) to LB books. However, I did not enjoy listening due to the subject matter..this resulted in 3 *s...Since LB books are one click for me, I did not read any of the reviews and I was sucked into the story. I wanted to crawl in my bed cover my head and cry for Andrew as I listed to his heart break over and over...a depressing yet HEA...

I enjoyed this book. Andrew is trying to deal with the loss of his brother, who died from cancer. He’d also like another chance with Holland. Can they try again? What really happened with his brother? I did cry over this book and had happy tears in the end. I voluntarily read an advanced copy on iBooks and I recommend this book.

This review is not my norm. I absolutely adore Lauren Blakely's work. She writes fun rom-com with awesome characters.
Unbreak My Heart is more angst than anything. After I read it I felt broken. Not because of the angst of the story, but because I didn't feel emotionally connected like so many others did. Of course the writing was great but I felt like it was angst for the sake of angst. Also, one of the conflict points our characters had to overcome just seemed to resolve itself too easily.
I feel horrible writing such a critical review of this author, but I just didn't connect like I normally do.

Unbreak My Heart is different from what I normally read from Lauren. She did an amazing job with this story. I went through so many emotions reading Andrew and Holland’s story. Their journey took me on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the book. This is a great read!!

Andrew is still in the midst of mourning his brother. As tight as they were in life, there are pieces to the puzzle of his death that remain a mystery. Ian died of cancer... but the months leading to his death, his decisions and journey to his last breath, are like a blurry essence Andrew must uncover and face. As he attempts to deal with his loss, Andrew also must find what he really wants out of life. This is the first time in his life he must deal with his emotions without the support of his brother.
Dealing with losses from different causes makes Andrew seek emotional crutches. Losing Ian to cancer. Losing Holland, the woman he loves, to a destiny away from him... an ocean away! Losing his parents after an accident. And the loss of friends and family who have been there for him but he has not acknowledged. This book is his journey to healing and moving on with his life.
This is an emotional story you will not soon forget. Be cautioned... keep the tissues close at hand. As you read this book, you will also journey mentally through all the emotions that come with accepting death awaits us all and how we live our lives is really what matters.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing this book with me.
