I particularly purchased several copies of this book, as it a true story. I went to high school with the main character, Carol. The tragic end to her life was so unbelievable and yet understandable. She was a wonderful, truly caring individual and you could well understand why she would become involved in prison ministry and become involved in the life of the man who became her husband. She was a brilliant student, in the National Honor Society and involved in every aspect of high school life but in the end lost her life to people in a world she would never have been a part of.

It was very slow and tedious. I could hardly put her other book "The Snake and the Spider" down when I started it but this one seemed to drag on and it wasn't exciting. In some areas it was predictable.

But most enjoyable. The writing is crisp and clear. I did miss Jesus proclaimed as in her Christian novels, but found the book impossible to put down. I will read the others in this style. In.true Karen Kingsbury style, there is no SWEARING or gratuitous sex scenes.
Longing (Bailey Flanigan, Book 3) :: Let Me Hold You Longer :: A Baxter Family Christmas :: One Tuesday Morning (9/11 Series, Book 1) :: In This Moment: A Novel

I am a real Karen Kingsburg fan.................She is basically the one who helped me become a READER!
This book was different from Karen's other books. However, it was still a page turner and very interesting. God bless Karen Kingsburg and her very special ministry.

This book was very interesting. I love mysteries and this does lead you down many paths. Each pathway lead to another possibility but in the end the conclusion was the same. Dan was punished. Although he didn't't kill Carol he did commit many crimes.

This story keeps you guessing and reviewing evidence. It gives you a view of how juries reach conclusions and how you can be harnessed if you don't agree with others on the jury. You have to remain strong in your convictions. Sometimes in life things aren't fair but God is not surprised and He's still sovereign. We must trust HIm.

Interesting book written early in the author's career as a news reporter for LA Times. But??? Why did she not add an update on the case? Did the accused, and convicted, remain in prison? Did he ever file an appeal? She wrote an update on her career changes but no update on the book. The writing and story were a 4 star but I only gave it 3 overall due to the incompleteness....no update included.
