Out of Range (A Joe Pickett Novel)

This is another good mystery with some temptations facing Joe Pickett and his wife. His plunge into a different district for a short time gives the reader a view into a different part of Wyoming. And at the end, a satisfying surprise.

As always, really enjoyed the book like a true Wyomingite would. CJ Box is so good at what he does. I love the Joe Pickett series as I have lived in many places in Wyoming and can identify with his writing. Keep up the good books.

I downloaded Out of Range while in Jackson, WY at a conference. I try to pick up a regional fiction when I get to a new area of the country. The description of the area, the architecture, and the people there was right on. Reading the story after I was home was like extending my stay in the Jackson area. Out of Range also opened my eyes to the life of a a Game Warden. My husband also read the book and found the story breaks disruptive and thus the whole hard to follow. I didn't have that trouble.

I read all the (current 12) Joe Picket novels during the summer, and that must mean something.

They vary somewhat in quality, they are not Nobel prize winners - but all very entertaining. This is one of the better. I look forward to the future series (I'm sure its coming) with his daughter Sheridan in the lead.

I Love Joe Pickett! Great story with an intriguing plot that keeps you on the edge. I felt just a little bit let down at the end when a few of the story points weren't fully explained/given closure but not enough to not have thoroughly enjoy this book!
