This was another exciting book that Joe Pickett gets into one mess after another. The good thing was that Nate was the deus ex machina that came through in the end. Put these two men together and let's have more books like this one!

Really enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed the entire series. Love learning more about Wyoming which is a beautiful and diverse state. If like me, you enjoy reading about these characters and haven't read the series in from beginning to end, I strongly recommend that you do. You won't be sorry.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It starts quick and moves at a great pace. The characters are introduced slowly enough that I could keep track of them, and some of this is due to the unique names the Box gives them. He also reintroduces characters from previous books that give this book a sense of continuity with previous works. It was so well done that I found it almost impossible to put down. Be prepared to lose some sleep.

Given the condition of our nation I found this book overwhelming. It started slowly and I almost didn't finish reading but remembered that was the case with Mr. Box's writing style so I kept reading. When the plot thickened it was so frightening that I had to see how it turned out and the fact that the book was based on a true story was a little scary. It's a good read.

One of the best! Box fictionalizes the story in a case of an Idaho family victimized by the EPA and gov't bureaucrats. Great pacing as usual, hard to put down. Not enough of Nate Romanowski!

Great read for the summer travels to the West! Another exciting Joe Pickett novel as we watch their family go through the struggles of raising a family and surviving in a small western town. Joe again deals with another mis-adventure, not of his own making, and encounters the reality of an over reaching government and it's employees.

Another success for Joe Pickett as big brother is after a small person, for some unknown reason (with is revealed later). But this is exciting as Joe deals with family, friends and enemies alike from his own department and state, while also dealing with the feds. A fun read!

Couldn't put it down. Found myself thinking "I'll just read a few pages" at odd times. It never ended up "a few." It's really been awhile since a book has grabbed me like this one does. Well done, C.J.!!!

I love the way Box conveys Wyoming, especially to someone who has lived there. And the events of the story line are so pertinent to today's discussions on drones, corruption in government agencies, etc. Scary as usual with his stories, but engrossing and great.

What people will do for power! Rough story that deals with an agency I had seen in a better light. The people in this town like Joe Pickett. The ones who don't have something to hide. This is about morality and bureaucracies. Joe has a good brain which serves him well in putting the facts and statements together. His wife is excellent in doing research. Working in a library gives her access to material not all people can get. Everything comes together in the end in a satisfying way.

If you are not already familiar with the Joe Pickett novels, do NOT start with this one. The writing is still as crisp and engaging as the others in the series (and it is a very fun series to read!), but this one is very heavy handed in its disgust of the Federal government and bureaucracy in general. The issues addressed are real and serious issues here in the West, but the hammer is not really needed to drive the point home already!

This is the newest of the Joe Pickett stories. Biggest problem I have is that C.J.Box simply doesn't write fast enough to put out at least two or three books a year. The wait between is a long one. They have always been worth the wait though.

This book kept my attention from beginning to end. I have read other C. J. Box books, but this was one of his best Joe Pickett novels. I have recommended Breaking Point to family and friends who enjoy a good read with a connection to a true story.

Joe Pickett character continues to grow in complexity, nice twist at the end. Interesting conflict of conscience between good and evil adds to intensity of story. I rate this with the best of Box's Pickett tales. Look forward to more.

Will read more of Joe Pickett stories. While not an outdoors person, Breaking Point is a continuous outdoors thriller and exposes the government employees that don't respect the value of spending government money with thought and care.

I love the Joe Pickett series. We are from Nebraska and have friends from the exact area Box writes about so can identify with the individuals in the novels. The only problem is that Box doesn't turn out novels as fast as some writers!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful read and will say no more without giving away any of the plot. Its description of nature stirs the imagination, and the abuse of power is relevant to what's happening today.

Box manages to keep the stories fresh, and each tale is great stand alone, so it's comfortable to read them out of order. But they are even better if you start from the beginning and grow with the Picketts...

We are retired, but our daughter still teaches. We all love C J Box's books. Due to what our little water company is going through right now with the Federal Government, this book especially hit home with us, even though it is fiction. The surprising twist of everything at the end makes it a book to remember and pass on.

An excellent, suspenseful novel. Joe Pickett makes a good hero because he wrestles with the good and evil in humanity and in life just as each of us should do. A good read for people who value the wilderness areas in the United States, and who enjoy a good mystery.
