I really like this book because the book is about a very talented black man that was good at what he did so he as will played baseball player. And that he was a good home run hitter he lead the leauge for a couple of years back in the day.I think the characters was one of the most vived part of the book because when they were talking about Babe and the boy. I could pic ture myself meeting Babe. I think the setting was the second most vived part of the book because I could picture the year and everything. The year was most likely the late 1800's early 1900's

Joey Stoshack loves to collect baseball cards. He especially loves them when he finds out he can travel through time with them. In this book, Joey goes back to 1919 to go see shoeless Joe Jackson. He wants to go tell him about the black sox scandal that is going to happen in a couple of days. While he is there he runs into some trouble with a couple of the gamblers.
Shoeless Joe and Me is a good book for everyone in my opinion. I really liked all that happend and how it happend. I would reccommend this book.

I recommend this book to people who like sports or some one who likes fiction books. There are a lot of funny parts in this story. If I were to connect to some one in the book it would be Joe because I would want to go back in time to see babe Ruth and other legends play baseball. Babe Ruth made the hall of fame for hitting 714 home runs while he played baseball. One of those Home runs he called it and he hit a home run and that's what they try to find out in the book.

Dan Gutman has written an outstanding book based on baseball history. When Joe Shoshack, a young baseball player, hears the story of Joe Jackson and the 1919 Chicago White Sox, he uses his ability to travel back in time to try and clear the name of Shoeless Joe in his alleged role in throwing the World Series. My eleven year old son, not an avid reader by any stretch, loved the book and wants to read more by Mr. Gutman. I highly recommend this book for "kids" of all ages!

This was an enjoyable book. It explores one of the most thought of and talked about baseball historical events of all time. George Herman Ruth called his shot to center field on the third inning of the third game in the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. He stuck his left hand in the air and pointed to the center field bleachers and called his shot. I like how the author of this book Dan Gutman challenges the called shot it makes you feel like you are at that game it gives you a perspective the no film footage or pictures could ever give you. Reading this book made me have a stronger perspective of his called shot it shows how you can take a little known opinion and turn it into one of the most exciting cliff hanging books ever and if you've only known about the called shot for a little bit like me I suggest this book to anyone who doesn't know about the called shot or still want to know more about it. Dan Gutman gives a look at what it would be like to be one of George Herman Ruth's friend what it would be like to hold his bat be in his house and be a thought in his mind. I give credit to Dan Gutman for writing this book I enjoyed the first person look at George Ruth's life and the way he played ball. If you liked this book I also suggest the rest of the books in this series including ones that have not yet been published.

My son was a reluctant beginning reader until his first grade teacher pulled out a copy of Babe and Me to read to his class. We went out and got it the next day, read it together, and he spent the next summer working his way through it by himself, slowly reading it aloud.
Since then, he has read this book and the others in the series several times. This novel is multi-layered, with storylines about a boy's relationship with his father (his parents are divorced), all told in the historical context of the Great Depression and during the rise of Hitler. Every time we read this together (and there have been countless times), my son finds something else to discuss. The mystery of the book---did Babe really call the shot?---almost doesn't matter when you consider the book as a whole.
Overall, I credit this book as jump-starting my son's love of reading and of baseball. I can't recommend this enough for anyone looking for an entertaining and interesting read, and parents will love reading it aloud with younger readers, as well.

I like this book because you can learn history while you are reading a fictional book. So a kid named Stosh and he goes back in time and meets famous baseball players. This time he meets a baseball player named Shoeless Joe. You might be wondering why he's called Shoeless Joe Jackson, but I'll tell you why. He once was playing a baseball game and his shoes were to small for him, so he ripped them of and ran a home run with no shoes. I really recommend this book for third and fourth graders.

I liked this book because of the excitment it pose. I like the part when the kid goes back in time. I enjoyed the the part where he travels through time by touching a baseball card. Last, but not least I liked when Babe fainted because history would have been changed if something terrible would have happen tohim. The part that I dislike about this story was when the kid is waiting for Babe Ruth to bat and he is not showing up to the plate. The reason I dislike this part is because the kid was sitting at the Dougout feeling sad. I also did'nt like the part when he caught the ball because I was not interested.

To baseball lovers, this book is what you call "the best." The book has a lot of suspense and is about the Black Sox fix to win the world series. This all happened a very long time ago. This boy Joe Stostack has a gift that he can touch a baseball card and then he can time travel to that year. He time travels to the past and tries to helpshoeless Joe Jackson avoid the fix. This is the best book in the world and you should read it!!!!!!
