Cannot recommend this book enough. It quantifies all of the characteristics that men aspire to, but struggle to grasp. I would recommend this for any man attempting to understand their calling in life. Something more than existence - really living.

The principles pointed out in this book are needed by men and boys around the world. The book asks you to be self introspective in an enaging way and then encourages you do make changes not by thinking, but by doing.
Fabulous book. I have already given it as a gift and recommended it to two other friends.

Mansfield's book is targeted to a demographic being put on the shelf-men. He gives men a much needed direction and a list of things to think about as seen in other great men of history. I will be getting a copy for my son and son-in-law to also give them some things to think about and shoot for in their lives.

Mansfield's book of many men is the most inspirational book I have ever read. It is full of examples of what it means to be a man. His four maxims are above all, indispensable. My favorite is the maxim, manly men tend their fields. That one alone has transformed my life.

Mansfield has some great points. I wouldn't say they are Earth shattering - but putting ideas you've probably already thought of in the form of a book kind of sums it up. I had some great "Aha moments" reading it. Liked it so much I sent one to each of my grown boys. He uses several characters out of bible stories to illustrate his examples. Brought some interesting insight in to some of those stories I have heard and read for years. I plan on getting the follow up book, How To Build Your Band of Brothers. I recommend this book.

Every man should read this book, at least twice. Our society needs this kind of literature, no question. If we were giving this to our children today in our society, it would make a difference. Thank you Mr. Mansfield

Excellent examples of what real man-hood is about. Debunking the myths and stereotypes of current culture machismo with lifestyles of world icons who exhibit TRUE manliness.
Thank you Mr. Mansfield.

Mansfield is an excellent author. He actually is a former pastor of mine, one of the best I have ever had the privilege of learning under. This book ameliorates anecdote, narrative, biography and common sense so sorely needed in our contemporary milieu. With traditional males so disdained but ironically so crucially needed today, a work that provides masculinity training without simply slinging mud at the opposite sex is appreciated.

The worlds greatest men, war hero's, leaders, Godly men who've made a difference in people's lives have been men just like you and me. We rise, we fall, we love, we hurt. But, when we are called upon, when our moment comes, we can rise to the occasion with confidence knowing who we are and what we're meant to do at that moment. The world needs more manly men.

This kind of stuff is lacking today. Guys are more interested in jeans and shaving arm hair than knowing what should be expected of them. People are counting on you. Learn how not to let them and yourself down. Buck up buttercup! Learn to read something without pictures, then read this book.
Thanks Steve!

Short, easy-to-read chapters. Uses historical figures as examples of manly characteristics (John Wooden, Lincoln, Job, Churchill, Booker T. Washington, etc.). Includes manly quotes, poems, and movie/book recommendations. No real surprises in this book and nothing original, but I would recommend it to others.
