We had some close calls, but the book kept us from making some silly mistakes! Here I was thinking I was doing something wrong while trying to breastfeed, but the book showed us the proper method and now it is the wife's sole responsibility.

This book do-don'ts book is HILARIOUS. I loved it when I was pregnant, and still love it now. I decided to give an updated 2015 copy to a friend who is expecting.

As I was looking through the book to see what "tips" were added, fresh out of the the store box, imagine my surprise when I found the middle pages STUCK TOGETHER. Not slightly like with a tiny bit of glue, but VERY stuck. I attempted to carefully and slowly pry the pages apart with the flattest object I could find, and the pages couldn't be saved. Mind you, the pages aren't thin paper; this is a board book. It's as if someone spilled a couple of tablespoons of glue down the middle! Love the content, but very disappointed in the packaging. The baby shower is tomorrow. Looks like I'm going to have to find this in a brick-and-mortar and ask the store for a refund. Boo!

Fun and just what the over-concerned parents-to-be need to remember that having a baby is a joy, not just a series of tough decisions. All it is is illustrations labeled "right" and "wrong" covering topics from carrying the newborn baby to how to check a diaper. Just fun and highly recommended for those expecting their first child.

I bought this book for my (male) cousin's co-ed baby shower a few months ago and it was the best gag gift I could've given! I was looking for something nontraditional, as baby showers generally bore me when it comes to watching the new parents open gifts… there's only so many times one can say, "awwwwww" at the same blanket, onesie, socks, blah, blah that you see at every other baby shower… but when it came to my gift, everyone loved it! The new parents and grandparents couldn't contain their laughter page after page! I would definitely recommend this book to any new parent with a sense of humor :)

I had seen this book before, and decided to give it to my friends, who are expecting their first child, for their baby shower. They loved it! My friend even said it was a good stress reliever. The wheel of responsibility is also a fun idea.

Before this book, I had only heard about babies and their kind of terror, let alone how to handle them when I do eventually encounter one! I'm still highly suspicious of babies - they make noise and are often covered in various food debris and poo. Now I at least know what to do when one is handed to me. I gave this as a gift to my sister - apparently she needed this advice badly!

I buy a copy of this book for every baby shower I am ever invited to -- which thankfully are few and far between. This gift is the hit of the party every time. I still laugh out loud as I flip through the pages.

Thank heavens we found this book before we had our son. All the other prepatory parenting books were so hard to read and keep our attention. We plan on having more babies now that we found such a cut and dry baby handling rule book!

Every OB/GYN office should have a copy of this on their magazine table. Bought it as a "gag" gift for my daughter-in-law's shower & it was a HIT!!! It got passed around to all the women at the shower and all you could hear was giggles and laughs! A lot of people said it was a "must have" for someone they new who was expecting. A real hit!

Got this for an expecting couple who are a little out of the norm.
They got your typical 'baby' things, which they knew they needed but isn't really 'them', if that makes sense. once they opened this book they could not stop laughing. It completely made their shower. They still talk about the book to this day.
It's a must for any shower you feel will be too 'stuffy' and you know you would like the parents-to-be to have some good laughs.

This book is a very cute gag gift but it literally has maybe 15 pages. It is a wood/cardboard page book so it only has a few pages. Nothing special, but still very funny the first time you look through it.

I'm giving this 2 stars just because so many other people loved it and I do like the spinner on the front. But as for content, I just didn't find it funny at all. Had I been able to look at the inside before ordering, I definitely would have gone for something else. From the other reviews, I was expecting some majorly funny stuff, not just some illustrated pages such as, Lifting Baby: Do-(and a drawing of picking up a baby)and Don't-(a drawing of picking up a baby by the head). And, Putting Baby to Bed: Right-(drawing of putting baby in crib), Wrong-(drawing of putting baby in dresser drawer). Another page, Buckling Up Baby: Right-(drawing of baby in carseat), Wrong-(drawing of baby just strapped in seatbelt with belt going across his face). There are about 30 of these pages (just a Right and a Wrong on each page, nothing else). If these examples strike your funny bone, buy the book. I usually laugh very easily, but I didn't even smile while looking at this stuff. It has nothing to do with irreverance toward babies or parenthood or anything like that. I just didn't think it was funny and I'll be returning the book.

Not worth the money. I really don't understand why this was sold in a cardboard book as if it were for a child to read....probably because ther easn't enough content for it to be a normal book. You're paying for the cardboard people.....not the content. It wasn't even hysterically funny which might have mitigated my other problems with it!

This is an amazing gift for any parent to be. I gave it to my brother in law for Father's Day; he will be a dad in November. The whole family was laughing while reading this. I have read it more than once and still laugh. Baby in the shopping cart is probably my favorite lol. Sure to make any one laugh. I'm sure the wheel of responsibility will come in handy later too. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone.

I was in a bookstore, and happened upon this book. I picked it up and started to read, and began to giggle, out loud. I felt that I was being too loud, so I closed the book and put it down until I felt I was under control again. I then picked it up to read, but burst into giggles again. This happened several times. I wanted to buy the book in the store but it was kind of beat up, so I ordered from the store. I gave this book to my friend for her baby shower, and it was the absolute hit of the party! You know how everyone passes the presents around, "Oh, how nice, ANOTHER tube of Desitin!" "Oh, of COURSE she can use another frilly baby headband!" and no one really looks at them or cares? Well this book took about an hour to make it around the circle; its progress was punctuated with shrieks of laughter. We even called her husband in and he read it and totally cracked up. My friend says she is actually going to use the spinner on the front of the book.

I think my favorite parts of the book are the "Testing Baby's Bottle", "Introducing Baby to Pets", and "Bonding With Baby", but to be honest, they are all hilarious. I read the book about 10 times before I gave it to her and I still giggled each time. I don't have any babies, but I think I might just buy this for myself for laughs. Fantastic shower gift.

This book is positively hilarious. Unfortunately, the book that said it was "like new" had very clearly been handled plenty. It had bent edges and the cardboard was coming apart a little bit in one edge.

I bought this book as a funny gift for a "New baby father survival box". I was surprised with the pages thickness & the cool graphics, images and colors. The little wheel of responsibility also adds a nice funny touch. I didn't really read the reviews or look at it that much before impulsively buying this book. I just checked rapidly the image cover & the price, thus my good surprise when I got it.

My copy of this book arrived today from the store and I can't help but say this book is an absolute riot! It's full of things that should be obvious to parents, making the illustrations even funnier. As to the build quality of the board book, it feels so sturdy you could drop it from a building. Sadly, some don't appreciate this type of humor so I knocked off a star.

Best book for new parents out there. Who doesn't need a little humor when faced with the lack of sleep that a baby imposes? My little girl actually started to learn to read on this book. She was so amused by the pictures, and eventually recognized the "do" "don't" and "correct" "incorrect!" Fun for all!!

I purchased this book for my brother and sister-in-law's gender reveal party; this is their first child. I was considering other "fun" books, but knowing older ladies would be present, I didn't think the vulgarity of those books would be appreciated. I'm really glad I bought this. The book is really cute (and funny), especially for the price. The spinner worked fine and the book was in perfect condition. I told my brother to re-gift it as his friends start having children.

While this book is on the funny side of baby humor, I would not suggest buying it. If you happen to see it at a bookstore or know someone who has it, a quick look through would do. However, the The Mini Safe Baby Handling Kit might be more worth your while. It has a mini version of the same book listed here, a few magnets of some of the 'instructions', some stickers, a stand alone chore wheel for mom and dad and an 'instructional' bib. It is cheaper than the book and would make a cute gag gift for a baby shower or someone who enjoys this kind of humor.

The product description says 36 pages, but I count 30 (not including the covers). Of course, the "pages" are thick cardboard. Otherwise this would be a very thin "book" and you couldn't charge as much.

Essentially, there's a DO page followed by a DON'T page, telling you what to do and not do when raising a baby. So 15 "jokes" -- count 'em, 15! -- in one "book." And it's all pretty much the same "joke." Every DON'T page shows parents crudely mishandling the baby.

For instance, on feeding the baby, the DO page has a parent putting a formula bottle into the baby's mouth. The DON'T page shows a parents sticking a chicken drumstick into the baby's mouth. (ha ha)

On grocery shopping with the baby, the DO page shows the baby sitting in the shopping cart's baby seat. The DON'T page shows the baby in the cart itself, buried under cans of food.

Fifteen such "jokes" -- all rather crudely obvious -- comprise this book's 30 pages. If you think that's worth the price, go for fit.

PS: Some reviewers have said the cardboard "pages" in their copies were stuck together. Mine also. The tops of four of the pages were torn as I pried them apart. (See photos.)

David and Kelly Sopp have hit a comedic goldmine with their quirky brand of humor concerning how to care for a baby. It's hilarious from beginning to end, and has the possibility for hundreds of funny, original sequels.

My personal favorites are "Lifting Baby", another I have redefined as the poop-grab, and the game of chess (some adults might actually lose to random movements). Three more that have additional meaning and significance made me think about this book in an other than humorous manner.

The "Washing Baby" idea is disturbing only because it recently gained national attention in the media. It's truly sad that this was meant as an over-the-top joke, and ended up coming true in real life. The "Stimulating Baby" concept is a realistic look at American child-rearing in many cases, where electronics have taken over for actual parenting. Last but not least, the "Clearing Baby's Nose" is a preferable option, although not the best, to a parent I have seen suck a baby's sinus congestion with a stomach-turning mouth-to-nose technique.

Either way, this book made me laugh out loud, and it's a must for any new parent.

Safe Baby Handling Tips has been the humor highlight of our week. Originally I looked at this book at a resort area bookstore because I recently adopted a baby. I also have 2 much older children and we have all been involved in our new daughter's care and comfort and this book just highlighted so many of the everyday tasks and how to look at them through a comic's lens. It now makes so many of our daily tasks food for entertaining conversation and many laughs. I will now include this with more serious baby gifts so that this humor can be shared with all of our friends who are new parents. Thank you for continuing to make the mundane entertaining~

These are some very dry, very goofy illustrations of "Do's and don't" of parenting. The illustrations are cute, done in a simplistic linear style like you'd see in a safety instruction manual. The gags are silly, in the nature of "do" let a baby chew on a baby toy, don't let them chew on an old sneaker, etc. A few are cringeworthy, such as the baby in the crib with a massive TV dangling overhead (this being in the "Don't" category, of course.) It's a clever book with some silly visual humor

We received the Safe Baby Handling book as a baby shower gift, and it is indeed hilarious. We have read countless dozens of books about pregnancy and babies in preparation for the arrival of our twin boys, and to be honest, a lot of them are really downers. While most books focus on all the ways you can go wrong, all the terrible things that can and will happen and how your life, and ability to sleep ever again may be over, this book focuses on the very basics of baby care. It provides simple illustrations on how to and how *not* to care for your baby. Among my favorites: DO feed baby with a bottle in a gentle embrace, DO NOT feed baby a chicken leg. DO Calm baby with a gentle pat to the back, DO NOT calm baby with a bottle of whiskey.

This was exactly the sort of humor we needed after all those serious books, and I think any parent-to-be would enjoy this book. It was a hit at the shower among seasoned parents as well. As a bonus the cover contains a spinner which promises to randomly divide responsibilities between Mom and Dad. Though our babies are not born yet, my husband and I have tested it out in anticipation for the big day, and my only complaint so far is it seems rigged, the thing lands on Mom about 4 out of 5 spins!

whether you are having a new baby or someone you know is, this is THE book to get for first time parents. My parents got this for my husband and I when we found out we were pregnant. We could not stop laughing. We passed it around to friends and had everyone at our party on the floor. I think the wheel of responsibility will come in handy in about 6 more months.
Since you can't see inside I will describe my two favorite "dos" and "don'ts". One is a baby in a shopping cart seat strapped in-this is a "do". Then next page shows a baby at the bottom of the cart with groceries stacked on top-this is a "don't".
The first page shows a baby being fed a bottle by the mother- a "do". The next page shows baby being fed a giant chicken leg- a "don't". I know this written explanation isn't nearly as funny. The visuals look just like the people on the cover and the book is arranged as though it is REALLY meant to give advice. Let's hope most new parents already know these basics. :-)

All I can say is that this is the GREATEST book I've ever seen for new parents. And if you don't like it, and feel that it's an affront to your new role as a parent? You're probably way too uptight and you're going to cause your child a lifetime of pain and suffering because of your lack of a sense of humor! Lighten up!

Captures all that is bad about parenting guides with some of the best satire ever written. Extremely dry humour, with a sense of irony that is banned completely from anything to do with parenting. Our work as parents is so serious that we need to take ourselves less seriously, and that's what this book helps us do.

The drawings are clever and retro-style, the wit is urbane and clever, and the entire book is thoughtfully designed. Buy multiple copies to provide to "friends" and others who volunteer advice about raising babies.

My husband and I purchased this book before I was ever even expecting. It was that funny. We found it in a gift type store in Chicago. As I was looking at lovely little trinkets, my husband was doubled over and unable to breathe from laughing so hard. I would highly recommend if for no other reason than "The Wheel of Responsibility" spinner on the front cover to assist in determining whose turn it is.

My brother-in-law purchased this book for us when we were expecting our first child. It is hilarious!!!!!!!! My husband loves to show it to everyone that comes over to the house. It's a board book (in alignment with all the books a new parent is about to purchase for their child) with the Wheel of Responsiblity on the cover that is an actual spinner you can use with your spouse. The graphics are absolutely funny and to the point. A great gift for parents-to-be!

A great book for people who don't know how to take care of babies. I learned a LOT from this book. Like, babies do NOT belong in the fish tank and they should be washed in a tub, not hosed off in the yard. I like to give this to everyone I know who is having a baby.

I bought this for my neice when she was having her first baby. She loved it! So did most of the other mothers and mothers to be at the shower. There were a couple of comments along the line of "That's disgusting. Nobody would keep their baby in a birdcage" but these comments came from people not specifically known for their sense of humour.
Highly recommended!

This book is hilarious! I can't think of a better gift for someone who is about to have a baby. Sure, you could buy them a Dr. Spock book, a car seat, diapers, or some other equally boring gift, but this ten dollar treat will have them actually remembering who you are! Of course, it also might end your friendship if you are implying in a not-so-subtle manner that you question their parenting skills and believe their baby is in imminent danger. But even if they do never speak to you again, at least you will always be remembered for this wonderful book.

My wife and I received this book as a gift shortly after our child was born, and we love it! It provided the laughter that we desperately needed after a week without sleep. Even after the fifth time through, I still laugh out loud at most pages. It's especially fun to share with friends and family when they come over, and now I know not to wake the baby with an air horn.

This book is a perfect gift for new parents.

My husband and I read this when we most needed a laugh...and laugh we did! I still can't remember a time we laughed so hard together.

I actually ripped my favorite pages out, framed them, and hung them as art in my son's room.

Not sure what to give new parents that already have too many infant clothes and useless stuffed animals? This book is a hoot from cover to cover. It features airline-literature-styled cartoons of do's and don'ts for new parents. One couple we gave it to said that a party they had wound up completely focused on the book. New parents could probably use a lot more humor in their lives after baby arrives and this book will serve them well.

This book is hilarious and well-illustrated. The book also includes the "Wheel of Responsibility" that is as useful as it is hilarious. A board-game like wheel has alternating spaces of "mom" and "dad". The baby has a poopy diaper? Spin the wheel, than as the book says, accept your fate! This book makes a great gift for any new parents or to break the monotony of your typical shower gifts.

I came across this book the last time I went to the bookstore, and I laughed hysterically with every turn of the page. After our baby was surgically removed from my body (ha!), some friends popped by our hospital room to drop off this gem of a book. Ho-ly cr-ap, I had to put it down after only getting to page 2, the total belly laugh was PAINFUL. We love this book so much... it's now part of our go-to baby shower gifts. Love it!

A close family friend purchased this book for us as a gift when we had our first baby. My husband and I laughed until we cried and we will cherish it forever! This little book is hysterical. I saw it at a baby shower I went to years ago and died laughing. It is now one of my standard gifts for every mom to be I know (and I still laugh every time I read it!) But make sure the parents-to-be have a good sense of humor - otherwise it will be lost on them.

With all the 5-star reviews on this book I thought it would be the perfect present for my friend's baby show. Not so. I was SORELY disappointed with this book to the extent that I can't bring myself to give this as a gift.

Certainly humor is subjective but I found this book's humor to fall VERY flat and the 'jokes' seem poorly considered and all around weak.

My biggest recommendation would be to review the content first. All of the book's 20 or so pages may be found here: [...]

If you think it's funny, go for it. Just don't purchase blindly.

I guess I missed it in the description, but this book is more like something you'd find at your local Spencer's than an actual education book. It is filled with drawings of "dos" and "don't" that are painfully obvious. I've tossed and turned night after night to figure out who this book was written for. It seems it was made for someone whom may have been raised by a pack of wolves and/or living in a third world country.

I'm a 1st time Dad and eager to find books to tell me the "whats" and the "hows" of bringing a baby into our lives. If you're like me, don't bother with this book. Look to: "Be Prepared: A Practical Handbook for New Dads" or "Show Dad How (Parenting Magazine): The Brand-New Dad's Guide to Baby's First Year". Both books offer a humor component, but are educational as well.

On the plus side, the book had a "spin-o-meter" on the front of it and the pages are cardboard. Well at least this book will make great kindling for my son's 1st campfire.

I bought this book because i wanted something with a bit of humor for my husband and this one had excellent reviews. I just received it today and both my husband and I really didn't like it a bit.

It's really not funny at all. The Do's and Don'ts are so basic that they're really not funny (example: picture of baby in playpen under 'Containing Baby' is a Do and picture of baby in a birdcage is a Don't, under 'Waking Baby' a picture of mum kissing baby is a Do and a picture of mum waking baby with an air horn is a Don't). Sadly enough, the funniest is under 'Intrdoucing Baby to Pets' where playing with dog is Safe and baby in fish tank is Unsafe and even that is not very funny.

There are about 25 'tips' in the book. From the looks of the book i thought there would be many more pages but the pages are this thick cardboard like baby books which makes it really big to look at.

My husband and I both found the sense of humor in this book to be naive for adults with a real sense of humor. I would've returned it but i had it shipped internationally and received it with the 'wheel of responsibility' pin broken which probably happened when it was opened locally at customs. So i'm stuck with it! Would send it free to anyone interested in this not so funny stuff just to get rid of it.
