Davis has successfully followed the first sister book with another just as riveting and as emotionally captivating! She delicately unfolds the story of the "good" sister, tormented by demons long lived with and seen by absolutely no one behind the face of a dutiful, beautiful up and coming politician's wife. However, this book is NOT about politics; it is about a woman's journey to find the right to be happy, the right to feel, the right to her own thoughts, and ultimately, the right to discover that she is lovable and worthy of existence. I applaud Davis' deep understanding and handling of the topic of battered women and what they endure and survive; few authors grasp the ongoing battle as well for what it takes to overcome. It's rare that I immediately purchase the next novel in a series due to being on a fixed income; I made an exception by purchasing book 3 for my Kindle app before posting this review! This series of books is just that good.

What a captivating story. At first you think you see right through to the end tragic love story gone good but this book has an unexpected twist or two in it. If you want to read this read the first book first. It's necessary.

Read first book in series and loved it. Could not wait for this one. Was not disappointed. Characters were well done. Good twists in story. Never boring. Sad in many ways but story depicted real live situations and how they were resolved. Can 't wait for book three.

Definitely a 5star rating. Very well written and I couldn't put it down. Many times I had tears for the a abuse this woman suffered through. I highly recommend this book. The sad thing is that this could be a true story.

I didn't read the first book, which I think would also be worth reading, so I didn't have all the back story, but that was okay because she kept throwing in lil bits of what happened in the first book. I thought it was a good plot line, sometimes it got a little drug out, but it was mostly good. I would have given it the fifth star, but I didn't really like how formal everyone talked and how formal her narration was. Also sometimes she gets a little wordy about random unimportant things, but not too bad. I would still recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about a woman who got beat down, but brought herself back up.

It was an easy read and kept your attention. Hard to believe that these things can really happen. It is a compelling story and the characters were believable. It held my attention and it always made me come back to finish it.

I thought I already gave this a rating of 5 stars. This was a great book and I even talked daily to my husband about it when I was reading it and he got into it. I would read other books with this author. You couldn't figure out how it was going to end.

I loved the characters as they were so real. To be honest your story had me so involved I read the book in a single day.

Thanks for giving me such an enjoyable day.

Enjoyed the book very much...could have reveled a bit more in Elliot's disgrace. Was reading this on an early generation Kindle when I dropped it & screen became unusable....glad I figured out how to get it on my iPad as I was caught up in the story & couldn't wait to finish it!

This book was very interesting and made me think about how I would react in her same situation. It brought to light the horrors and pain of abuse. I could hardly put it down. It was sad in parts, esp. knowing there are so many who endure this abuse everyday.

I loved this book and the first book.... They're so good but tell about what really happens behind closed doors, I definitely would recommend to everyone to read, from those who have been abused, to those who have no clue how it feels

Absoltutely reviting. I couldn't put it down. So emotional and eye opening to domestic abuse. I loved Noah. He reminded me of my son, not knowing quite what he should do but knowing he needed to do something.

After reading The Good Sister (Sister Series, #2), I purchased the sister Series #1 (can't remember the name of it, but I loved it too). I'm looking forward to the 3rd in the series to come out on 4/29/2014.

Lindsey and her sister have both endured unspeakable abuse in their complicated family relationships. Lindsey is married to a rich, ambitious, sadistic abuser. Fearing for her life, she endures the abuse and never lets on her misery.
When her husband allows her to visit her sister while he is on an extended business trip, Lindsey begins to find strength and the desire for a different life.
Some good information about spousal abuse and the difficulties of safely and successfully getting out.

This was an interesting book. it kept me wanting more. I liked the way she transformed her life. I also liked how it showed why women stayed in abusive relationships even though they know that it isn't right.

The husband beats her, we get it! Yet the author find it necessary to bring it up in every single chapter. Descriptions of characters are constantly repeated. The gist of what happened in the first book of the series is constantly regurgitated. That is probably why the story's ending was so curt, the author filled the pages with so much repetition she simply had to end the book because to write a real ending would have made the book another 500 pages. The author also did a poor job of following descriptions previously laid out. Sorry but I will pass on the rest of the series.

First, you need to know that although the book is enjoyable and mostly easy to read, the author out of the blue crudely and intimately described a sexual encounter. I don't know why because most of the book is beautifully written and very engaging and clean. The people speak like most of us do in our daily lives and I was so enjoying reading it until out of the blue came words I choose not to use in my vocabulary. I realize people are different but I do wish I'd know ahead of time there was that kind of language and descriptions thrown in. It wasn't used anyplace else in the book so I don't know why the author choose to change the flow of the book and have the language change so abruptly. Had I known I wouldn't have read the book and wouldn't have had to leave a negative review. I unfortunately won't be reading anymore of this authors books in case this is something that is carried through in every book. It's too bad because it was a good book but those unneeded words thrown in times it for me. I skipped over several pages so I could read to the end but what a waste. I cannot recommend this book. :(

The second book in series usually tends to be a letdown, especially those that follow amazing books such as The Other Sister, however this book was definitely an exception. It met and surpassed my every expectation. Once I started reading I could not put it down. The writing is outstanding and the author is very gifted. The writing flows and with it she evokes a multitude of emotions as you suffer along with Lindsey during her interactions with her abusive husband, Elliot and revel in her freedom and self-discovery during her time in Washington with Jessie, Will and Noah. A must read for those who have read The Other Sister. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I looked forward to this sequel and to see what the author did with Lindsey.. I had not read Davis before, and did not realize domestic violence was her forte. Although it is a current and vital issue, reading about it is one of those " a little goes a long way." Like her sex scenes, the detail was overwhelming and again not dirty, just detailed. Also way too much repetition . I did enjoy the twist in this book, and made it worth reading. The third book comes out soon and sounds like another of the same dynamics .

This bo.ok was good bit nowhere near as good as the first. It says it can be a stand alone but to really understand where the main character is coming from and her past with her sister and after you need the first book. But over all Not bad

I would really like to award this book TEN STARS. This is about real life!!! The book made me cry with happiness sometimes & with sadness at other times. It should be compulsory reading for all young people. Amazing. Wonderful. Moving. Eye-opening.

I can't wait to read this one (so I guess this review is for the first book in the series).

I got The Bad Sister free and was really suprised at the skillful writing and the sensative, indepth look at several dark subjects. It had a touch of the 'romance' feel, but not too bad.

It reminded me of The Generals Daughter, only more interesting story.

The story was good, but a good story can be told without the profanity--which I found extreme. There is also some sexually explicit content. I definitely would not recommend this for a young reader!

The books about the 2 sisters are just okay. I don't plan to read any more volumes. Doesn't seem to have much originality. Cardboard characters--predicable and boring. The first volume is better than the second one--maybe a 3*. I struggled to finish #2.

The Other Sister was so good it stuck with me after I read it so I couldn't wait for the Good Sister to come out. I was so disappointed in this sequel. It was 100% predictable and rather "cheesey" for my taste. Yes abuse is real and I could put myself in Lindsey's shoes and felt her fear and while the abuse was probably very realistic (thankfully I don't know first hand) I didn't feel like much else was realistic about this book.

While I enjoyed some of this book, the constant use of the F word was just too much. And too much "filler" in the story. Such as the author constantly explaining some things over and over. Such redundancy was ridiculous. And the very overt sex themes were overdone. All this took away from a sad but good and true story. Don't know why the author can't understand that a good book that can impact us doesn't have to be filled with trashy things.

This story shows some promise, but it is hidden behind missing, repeated and misspelled words. There are sentences that simply make no sense. The author uses the word 'as' in place of 'since' and 'because' EVERY time. People just don't speak like that.

I will not be reading anything else by this author. If she doesn't care enough to proofread before publishing, then I'm not paying for her work.

I thought it was a very good read until I got to the end. The end was not satisfying, the author dropped the ball. I'm not saying it did not end right, because it did. There just wasn't enough information and it ended abruptly, there could have been another chapter. I probably will not read the other two books.

Ugh, too many errors. Seriously, are these books published before anyone has read them? It's too distracting. The author would have written "to distracting" because she doesn't know the difference.

This book was a sick fairy tale about a girl who leaves a abusive boyfriend and starts picking up men and going home with them.
If you are the least bit moral you will find it unrealistic, especially when she marries the guy she sleeps with and cheats on'

This has got to be the most emotional and riveting book I have ever read. It literally blew me away. From the first to the last page each page held your attention. The heart wrenching story of Lindsey and her abusive husband Elliot and her attempts to escape his clutches was addictive. My emotions were pulled in every direction. This is a beautifully written story full of passion and suspense. It must surely rank in the best sellers list. Another great book from a fabulous author. Well done.

When Lindsey, sister of Jessie Hendricks and wife of political hopeful Elliot Johanson, begins to change her behavior to a very accommodating, almost timid and fearful person, who she never really was before, her family and friends wonder what could have happened to change this previously well-adjusted war hero.

This book was well written and features some heavy topics (abuse and rape), but it is also a beautiful story of love and finding the strength to carry on when your life and everything you are has been shattered.

This is book 2 in the Sister series and features the characters (Will, Jessie, Gretchen, Noah, and Lindsey) that you fell in love with in book 1 and 1.5. You do not have to read the other books in the series to understand what is happening in this 1, because the author does a good job of explaining the relationships and family dynamics without making the story redundant.

Wow, what an awesome story!
This is the story of Lindsey and Noah.

Lindsey was a successful military woman. She was her Daddy's girl. Growing up the Daughter of an Army General, Lindsey did everything right. Never got into trouble, dressed to perfection everyday. She's even helped her younger sister Jess, get through a living hell of abuse.

So when she marries her husband Elliot, (upcoming Politician), she feels that she's really got it all. A few months into her marriage things drastically change. Elliott begins to beat Lindsey. She's suffered burns, being stabbed, hit, slapped, and being thrown in a closet.

Lindsey never understood why her sister kept her abuse hidden from everyone, until she found herself in a similar situation. Lindsey goes to Washington state to help her sister out, but she has no idea what's in store for her there.

Noah, is the small town Vet. He's easy going, handsome but nerdy. When Jess, Lindsey' sister asks Noah if Lindsey could take her place at the clinic he's reluctantly agreed. Noah and Lindsey have met before, but he never witnessed her being so jumpy. He begins to irritable with Lindsey because she doesn't know squat about computers and can't even make a simple pot of coffee. Plus he's tired of her answering her phone every thirty minutes to check in with her husband. So when Lindsey ignores the Customers and even hangs up on them to answer her cellphone, Noah has had it!

But what he doesn't realize is the horror that Lindsey lives with, or the real reason she has to take Elliott's calls.

Great Series. Can't wait to read #3

The Good Sister is by Leanne Davis. It is the second book in the Sisters series. The book is powerful like the first one. Spousal Abuse is the major topic; but second chances and Love are integral to the plot.
Lindsey Johanson is a battered and abused spouse. Like many abused spouses, she tries to explain why he hurt her or in her case, deny he was raping her. That was simply semantics. She decided he was being rough with his sex, not raping her because a husband couldn’t rape his wife. His beatings and rapes were more evident since her Father died in disgrace. Elliott had high political sights and needed the power his father-in-law had. That was the reason he married Lindsey, that and her looks and ability to fit in and to entertain high society well. Of course, Lindsey didn’t know that, she thought it was love and that he was just domineering like her Father. She had definitely learned better in the time she had been married. She tried her best to keep everything perfect and to behave in the perfect manner. Elliott always found a reason to turn on her. When Jessie, her little sister, called wanting her to visit before Jessie’s baby was due, Lindsey could easily see Elliott saying no. However, she caught him in a good mood after a perfect awards dinner they attended. She told him she felt afraid when he was gone on long trips and that Will, her brother-in-law would protect her. She also said she would try to convince Will to officially and publically agree to back Elliott.
Jessie had overcome all her problems and was now happily married to Will and pregnant. She also handled all the animals on her farm as well as worked with Noah Clark, the vet. Unfortunately, now she was being told by her doctor to slow things down or she might end up on bed rest. The thought of bed rest worked, she told Noah she had to stop work for a while. However, she had the idea of having Lindsey talk her place on a temporary basis. Lindsey was able, due to problems at the resort that Elliott was building, to stay for two months. Jessie thought Lindsey needed something to keep her busy instead of just “nursing Jessie”.
So Lindsey went to work for Noah. This was something Elliott would not want her doing; but a little rebellion felt good. However, she had to either call him every hour or take his calls when he called. She couldn’t just call him back when it was convenient. If he got any idea she wasn’t with Jessie all the time, she would have to go home and would pay for it when Elliott got home. It is difficult for Noah as Lindsey wasn’t the best receptionist. She had no confidence in herself and it showed in her work. She began alienating his clients and he had to run interference more than once. Where was the self-confident, independent girl he met when Jessie first came out here? Why did she have to take all those blasted phone calls that interrupted his patients? Can’t Will and Jessie see what Elliott is doing to her?

Domestic violence is a socially taboo topic that is usually swept under the rug..and hidden. The physical and emotional pain of the victims is left to fester, unlanced, and unhealed. Lindsay, the elder sister, has to deal with the aftermath of her sister's abuse and her personal guilt for not recognizing her sister's pain but the increasingly abusive nature of her own marriage. As the story unfolds. the reader is faced with two questions , how can she survive and ultimately ...will she survive? The presentation of the mental anguish caused by physical abuse is agonizing and poignant and never forgettable.

Leanne Davis writes a good story, unfortunately, I find her use of the F word and long, drawn out sexual encounters unnecessary and offensive. She also needs a good proof reader to correct spelling and grammar.

Love this series and cannot put it down. Noah and Lindsey come together in a relationship that is not expected. Lindsey faces domestic violence and David does a fantastic job showing what true domestic violence look like with in a relationship and the recovery of it.

This book could contain triggers for due to violence.

I was amazed at the truth in how many woman have to live with abuse because there is not enough funds out there for them to leave there terrible existence !
I have always thought without help and therapy there will never be a life for them.
What is wrong with our world that let's innocent children and women live a life of abuse?
When will someone do something about it?
The police are men the senate are men, when are we going to wake up and replace the selfish with people that want to help other human beings?
Help the children help the abused man or woman it has to stop!

Such a surprise for Book 2!! In Book 1 we meet the good sister; in this book her life has moved on, but not for the better. For someone who appears to have it all, Lindsey marries a seriously abusive man. Of course she doesn't know he is abusive because he's also a major con man. This agonizing story of domestic violence is griping; you will want to see what Lindsey does with her shame and fear and self loathing. This could be a textbook on human depravity over the obsession with power and control. The good news is it is also a wonderful love story!

I have read this book and "The Wrong Sister" and these are 2 of the most moving books I have ever read. For those commenting on grammatical errors and cursing get over yourselves and look at what the author is trying to portray.
Too many women go through this everyday and LeAnn Davis has managed to put these stories together as socially relevant, believable AND romantic in one book.
Bravo! I am looking forward to of her books. She has now jumped to the top of my list as one of my favorite authors. I shall be eagerly looking for more of her books.

Both books THE OTHER SISTER AND THE GOOD SISTER, are amazing...well written and suspenseful. I read both books in little more than a day....couldn't put them down. There some disturbing chapters, but all in all I loved the stories and the characters. To me, when the author manages pull you in and actually makes you feel the characters pain, suffering and love for another person, they've accomplished their goals of writing a good book. Leanne Davis did just that. I am looking forward to her next book.

This was a fair portrayal of what one goes thru while experiencing domestic abuse. I was skeptical to read this because I was burned out on depressing sort of reads but this one just worked. There weren't constant pity parties. It was just one woman's journey of finding herself and coming out on top. well executed plot. I really dig this writer's style.

So frightening yet real, I couldn't put it down. Domestic violence needs more publicity in order for victims to come forward. It must be incredibly hard to admit and leave violent relationships. This story lets us know that no one in immune. You do not know what is going on behind closed doors.

This was the first book by Leanne Davis that I have read I was shocked within the first few pages with the graphic nature of the story and nearly discarded the book but I read on and I am glad I did it opened my eyes to a subject I knew nothing about I cried with frustration for the lead character and laughed tears of relief for her too ,I must admit I skimmed the sexual descriptions at times as I didn't think the story needed as much detail ,I found once I got in to it couldn't put it down .
