I have been working out and learning about training for years, swimming in a sea of misinformation, and I love that I am now seeing someone in the fitness industry providing good info! Very refreshing.

Actually very helpful for anyone who just wants basic facts and not hype. The author seems to understand that the use of buzz words and those crazy before after pics just isn't necessary when dealing with facts.

I enjoyed this book, it presented things in a logical sequence, and I was surprised that I was guilty of some of this myself. I read this and Diet Health Central: Complete Weight Loss Strategies For A Healthier Lifestyletogether they seem to have me getting in better shape. I am in love! I Never write reviews...ever! But...This book is an absolute must! I've been working out and enduring retardedly grueling work outs for about 8 years now, and I have learned so many new and informational tips. I wish I had found this book 8 years ago! I'm a gym addict and have been with several different personal trainers, and many of them need to read this book as well! I HIGHLY and STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone who is even remotely interested in living a healthy lifestyle and eating in a healthy, nutritious way. For those of you who are on the edge as per whether or not you want to endeavor on this journey for whatever reason....I promise you-this book is your key to success! He walks you through everything you need to know before you begin your journey; or if you've already started-then this book is perfect for you as well as he confronts different mistakes that people unknowingly make! My husband and I are considering getting our personal trainer's certifications soon, and we would absolutely love to someday meet the author because of how knowledgeable he is and how basic he plates his thoughts. You will find that this is true when you read his book in how it's written-it feels like you're talking to the author himself. Very personable and down-to-earth! Thank you Mike! Now we're on to your next book!

I got this book out of curiosity. In my experience most diets and fitness books and such out there do not have much backing to them, so to my surprise this one did. I enjoyed reading what he had to say and totally agreed with everything stated. I have an educational background in exercise science and that's how I know, he is knowledgeable in this topic. I would definitely recommend this book and most likely his others when I get to reading them.

I'm always looking for new information or facts on health and nutrition and this book was different, but some of the facts I already knew. I would definitely check out his other books through the library before making a purchase.

I appreciate the straightforward approach Michael takes in his presentation. He provides some great information that seems solid. I would have found the info on supplements much more credible if he didn't end up pushing his own supplement brand for a designer price. I would welcome someone that would tell us about great, inexpensive supplements already on the market.

12 Health and Fitness Mistakes was available for free on the store Kindle, so I decided to give it a try. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I have been on a quest to wean myself away from the "Gain Muscle At All Costs" mentality to something that works more naturally with my life, my diet and my body type. I am always looking for little tips that can make my fitness trek even better. One book that helped along the way was How to: Fitness and Exercise - whats the Real Deal (Diet Weight Loss and Exercise). This book also helped by (in a different way) by confirming some of the myths I have encountered personally while exercising. The book reviews and provides evidence against twelve commonly assumed fitness myths (including some that I held on to for a long time).
The book is a very quick read, which is both good and bad.
Pros- (Concise) The author does not waste time in the book. He goes right to the myth and provides evidence (or personal anecdote) against it. If you are wondering about a "fitness truth", I would suggest using the Table of Contents and linking directly to the page you are looking for to save unnecessary time going through other pages you're not concerned with.
Cons-(Brevity) Although some evidence is provided, there really isn't enough content in the book for each "fitness myth". The author provides a few facts, but rarely goes into detail. Within two pages, the author is on to the next issue, while you are still pondering the last issue you read.
Overall, the best use for this book is as a quick refresher on some of the commonly held fitness misconceptions out there. I would suggest getting other books to get more guidance on how to deal with the "fitness mistakes" mentioned in this book.

I found this book very informative. The layout was great and it was to the point without a lot of rambling. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the truth about all of those supplements most trainers say you absolutely have to have in order to get results.

Don't waste your time with this book!!!!! Michael Matthews give you little more information than what is already simple common sense. Instead, Mr. Matthews spends most of YOUR time promoting his books and himself!! This book is obviously out there to lead you into buying something from Mr. Matthews.
