I try to never go into Melanie Dickerson’s books with expectations. For some reason, even though I know that the ones based on fairy tales will be familiar, she never ceases to surpass my expectations I do have.
This story, light, fun, but with hints of deeper meaning, spoke to my heart. It reminded me of a story that I had mapped out years ago, but never wrote. I loved the sweet retelling of this fairy tale, with the depth and heart that she has. It is one that young adults and adults will enjoy alike.

When you are looking for a good book, that will brighten your life, look to buy this one. I loved it!

Melanie Dickerson has created a sweet, clean story in her latest book The Noble Servant. This is one tale YA girls will greatly enjoy delving into.
Filled with adventure from beginning to end, Dickerson's book keep you enraptured with the hero and heroine, along with a cast of wonderful - and villainous- supporting characters. In this tale, I was swept back into medieval Europe, to a time of chivalry and intrigue. I loved the plot, the pacing, the characters, and the message of sacrifice.
It is rare to find a book that will teach godly lessons in a way that appeals to the YA genre. Dickerson outdoes herself with this one. Presenting courageous women living noble lives provides a solid role model girls can flock to. I highly recommend this book to all who desire a clean read that will uplift, entertain, and encourage.

What Melanie Dickerson does with classic fairytales is really a dream come true for many readers who have loved the classics. This novel is loosely based off of The Goose Girl, which is a favorite of mine. The storyline that Dickerson creates is engaging and will keep readers excited.

This is a Young Adult book and so some of the time I felt that the dialogue was a bit stilted. That being said, it was still an enjoyable read.

It is fun to read this in conjunction with her other novels as some of the characters weave in and out. It is fun to read about previous characters as they go on with their lives. You do not have to read any previous books to enjoy this one though.

I received this book free from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Noble Servant ( A Medieval Fairy Tale #3)
By: Melanie Dickerson
The Noble Servant is book three in A Medieval Fairy Tale series. Dickerson weaves another sweet medieval fairy tale story that will have you turning the pages faster to read faster to see what is going to happen next. She did not disappoint. The story and the characters both were well developed. Magdalen’s rightful position has been taken from her. She is forced to work as a goose girl and servant. The Duke has also lost his position . Will they ever be able to gain their positions back like they were? I Love the Christian flair that Dickerson weaved into her story.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher and NetGalley, but was not told that I had to give a positive review.

Wow! What an amazing adventure, if I would finish it in one reading except for needing to go to sleep, so I could go to work!
The Nobel Servant is a tale of adventure, romance, loss, fears, courage, forgiveness, and overcoming difficult and dangerous situations.
Steffan and Magdalan were both force from the life they both have know by two different imposters. This story tells their journey to reclaim their rightful place but it wasn't easy or safe as they learn whom they can trust and can they learn from each other and find love.
Mrs. Dickerson you truly are blessed with the ability to write the most interesting stories while challenging and reminding us to trust in God for His protection and plans.

The Noble Servant was an entertaining fairy tale with a light romance and some villains who were up to no good! This wasn’t my favorite of the author’s novels that I’ve read, however, I did enjoy it and found it to be a rather easy and fast read for me. I also appreciated that it was a clean story and definitely appropriate for teen readers, as well.

I liked the two main characters, Magdalen and Steffan, and enjoyed watching them work to overcome not only those who were plotting against them, but also ideas and attitudes that were the result of past painful experiences. Overall, I enjoyed this sweet story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

enjoyed this more realistic take on the Goose Girl story. The German was strange at first, but I got used to it after a while. I guessed at one or two of the twists, but not the major ones, so congratulations on that! I'll definitely be recommending this to people and watching out for other novels by the author.

I received an ARC which did not affect my review in any way.

Lady Magdalen is out of options and gets a letter to come and marry the Duke! Before she gets there she is forced to change places with her Servant. She is put in an impossible situation yet shows great resilience and humbleness throughout the ordeal. Steffan is the Duke and his Uncle has tried to have him killed and replaced with his son. They have to work together to regain their rightful place and save their people. A lot of growth must take place as well along the way. Danger lurks at every turn. Another excellently written book in this series!
I received this book from the author. But all opinions here are my own.

THE NOBLE SERVANT was a very good book. The beginning of the story started with adventure and I really liked that. It was a very fast-paced adventure all the way through.

The characters were very well-written. I really liked how they expressed their feelings. I loved the prayers they said when they got upset.

There was a lot of distrust on both sides and they learned to get over that. The villains seemed to lack backbone, they were doing sneaky underhanded things and didn't want to directly face the main characters. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own."

A loose adaptation of The Goose Girl with Christian elements for tweens and teens. The two MCs are written with flaws that appear to be overcome by the end. I respect that the "good" characters struggle with forgiveness; makes it feel more authentic. The story flows nicely, although there is a small section in the middle that drags just for a moment. I wish the author had gone into more detail about what happened to certain supporting characters after their main part in the story was revealed. For YA readers who like historical romances and fairy tale retellings.

Melanie Dickerson does a masterful job recreating fairy tales in their historical setting. This story is no exception, with Magdalen, a baron’s daughter, forced to follow a false role as a lowly servant when she should be marrying the duke. Little does she know that the true duke has also been forced from his rightful place and is masquerading as a servant. Can the two of them stop an evil plot and set things right before it’s too late? The interaction between quality characters, the lively plot, and the suspense make the novel a pleasure to read. I received an advance copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Another good retold fairy tale by Melanie Dickerson. I'm glad that I read The Beautiful Pretender first, as this is a bit of a sequel -several of the same characters in both books. I had actually never heard of the fairy tale about the goose girl, but I enjoyed this book. :) Great characters. A little mystery/suspense, romance; a little bit different than the normal story. In some ways it's a little predictable, which is why I gave it just 4 stars. Pretty good overall. So thankful that there are some clean books by Christian authors for young adults!

I haven't read the original tale, but I certainly enjoyed this one!

The main characters are fun and enjoyable, the plot has several twists and turns that I really liked, and I enjoyed trying to view how different life would be going from riches to rags.

Melanie Dickerson writing style is beautiful. I love the faith thread in the book, and it is nice to have a soft read from time to time.

This was not a deep read, but it was a highly enjoyable one for me.

I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Melanie Dickerson has created yet another story that any fantasy romance reader will love. As with her other stories this one follows a girl who has to help her love.
As a servant she must help her prince regain his throne. A compelling romantic escape with a happy ending that is sure to leave you in a feel good mood

Castles, dukes, lords, ladies, conspiracies, dangers, mines and geese are all part of The Noble Servant! Author Melanie Dickerson has written an exciting tale with interesting characters and twists! The Noble Servant is a historical romance by Melanie Dickerson that reinvents a lesser known Grimm's fairy tale called The Goose Girl.

If you're unfamiliar with the original fairy tale, then I recommend reading it first so you can appreciate how Dickerson has woven threads of it into her well-researched Medieval setting.

This book is perfectly suited for those in search of a light-hearted, easy read.

A continuation to Melanie Dickerson's Medieval FairyTale Series, "The Noble Servant" tells us the tale of Lady Magdalen whom we met in "The Beautiful Pretender". While reading TBP, I was looking forward to reading Lady Magdalen's tale, and so as soon as this came available for review, I grabbed a copy. :)

I found the middle and end of the book the most engaging, though perhaps a little predictable. Still, I enjoyed the book and am sure fans of Melanie Dickerson will enjoy it as well.

I did have some...concerns with this one, but for the most part I enjoyed it. It could be a little slow/long at times, but Lady Magdalen was a sweet character, and Stephen was a good one too.
The author does a good job with the setting and making you feel like you're in the time period, and I do really like that.
There was a bit of violent description in this one, a case right in the first chapter that I didn't care for and wouldn't advise my 14 year sister to read. I'm not one for scenes of violence described so...thoroughly. I understand the circumstances and necessity of the scene, just don't think it needs to be so gruesomely described in YA books.

Also, there is a strong Catholic theme throughout the book, which I know some love and some don't, so I want to make sure that I mention that. It isn't just a "Christian" world view that every religion or belief system can relate to, it is strongly Catholic with penance and working for salvation.

A softly romantic and expertly researched new tale from everyone's favourite scribe of Fairytale- Retellings. Dickerson breathes new life into the Goose Girl resplendent with her pitch-perfect imagining of medieval Germany. Readers of The Beautiful Pretender will be delighted to find an old friend given a fresh new life and a tale and page time of her own.

Melanie Dickerson writes creative, light and wholesome re-imagined fairy tales. This series and this novel, The Noble Servant, follows her general pattern of telling an easily read and yet satisfying tale of a hero and heroine overcoming all odds and finding that integrity of character is foundational for discovering and realizing a life of love.

Another fabulous 'fairy tale' novel by Melanie Dickerson!
This is a sweet story, the retelling of the goose girl fairy tale.
In spite of the fact that this is a teen book, I enjoyed it!

The details, the setting, the characters, I liked it all!
If you enjoy fairy tales, then give it a try!

Melanie Dickerson has crafted another exciting, sweet, and enjoyable story set in medieval Germany. This story is a retelling of The Goose Girl with a little bit of The Prince and the Pauper thrown in, too, so there were plenty of cases of mistaken identity amid all the intrigue, plots, and adventure. The story was a lot of fun!

Romance, sweet, with Christian elements
This was more of a 3.5 for me as a reader, but rounded up because it was still very intricately detailed. Definitely more cute than serious period, but that being said, it was still a fun read. Magdalen and Steffan's story is part of this Medieval story series, but it is a standalone read. Magdalen's kind and tender heart, her willingness to stand for others as they face evil and cruelty attract the eye of Steffan. Both are hiding their real identities, and both fall for each other in disguise. Things conspire against them, and they are compelled to join together to fight the evil that is hurting both them and their loved ones and servants. Lovely fall, sweet and tender feelings, create the magic in this story. My wish for stronger side characters, and maybe more true to historical norms(would they really have been able to sleep in the same room/same cave without a chaperone, and not have her reputation ruined?)

Very nice story, it had some similar elements to The Beautiful Pretender by the same author but also enough different to make it distinct. The love sorry was realistically developed and had plenty of romance and intrigue. Great story! I almost want to start right now and read it again!

this is a much gentler version of the goose girl. Thankfully no heads are cut off in this version.
I keep reading this author's books & keep not liking them because in general the women are weak & prone to get stupid ideas that make them in denial about what's right in front of them. The romance is such a slow burn that you lose interest before you're halfway through. Yes, these are clean stories, but they are fairy tales that are so drawn out & take so much time to resolve that you just want to light a fire under the characters! Insipid & eye rolling, those are words that come to mind. The writing is not terrible but the plot & the characters are really bland and generic.
Bleh.
Why do I keep reading this author's book ?because every once & awhile she writes a really good one (like The Golden Braid)

This book has potential, but more plot and character development are needed. I didn't care for the writing style, and there were a number of glaring flaws. I stopped reading about 15% of the way through.
