Leslie Patricelli is our very favorite toddler book author. Quiet Loud is our second favorite book of hers behind Blankie, but they are all well-loved in our house. The baby featured in the illustrations is just the cutest thing.

My one year old son and I read every night. The colors and the simplicity of the idea makes it easy for him to understand and learn. So further emphasize the difference in quiet and loud, I use my voice, and he laughs.

I purchased this book because my age 2 grandson has become very sensitive to noise. He LOVES this book! It has been a great launch to learn about loud things that bother him by imagining other things that are quiet or Loud.

My two year old thinks the loud parts of the book are funny and makes a lot of noises of his own to go with them. It's not for bedtimes though because he'd get too excited, but we read it at bedtime and then read something else afterwards to calm him down. It doesn't displace his favorite book, which is the Thomas the train book with a camera on it.

My 16 month old son loves this book. He learned the word "loud," and so we thought this book would be fun. He has us read it to him at least 3-4 times a day. The pictures are great and when read with whispers and yelling, it's fun for everyone. :)

I love this book and others by the same author such as "BIG little" and " Yummy, Yucky". The drawings are cute, bright, and funny. The words are very simple, but they totally make me laugh. I think the baby really enjoys them too.

My 4 year old girl loves this book, too. It taught her what are the things she does that are koud & which are soft. At least she now understands when I whisper to her to keep her voice down as her baby sister is sleeping.

My daughter loved the Yummy/Yucky book, and now enjoys the Quiet/Loud book as well (of course she likes the Loud better than the Quiet). Fun illustrations and simple concepts would be appreciated by almost any child.

This is a fun board book that can be used for several ages, not just young children. It actually helps with self regulation because you are quiet, then loud and it is repeated. Even children with short attention spans can get through this book. It's just a fun little book whether you are a therapist or not.

I wanted to love this book, but it's not really captivating my 7-month-old or either of her parents. The author was highly recommended by someone whose opinion I trust, so I'll try one or two of her other titles. I also think this one will be more fun with an older child who might read parts for herself in quiet and loud voices.

My 2-year-old is not so attracted to this book. The pictures are a little dull. Regardless of whether it delivers the point across, my toddler isn't even interested in looking at the pictures. He reads it once and starts looking at other books. So far he only reads it once...

Kiddo loves the LOUD part of course. Short and cute. A few ideas I wish were different, like moms shoes are loud, but the idea is there and kids like it. Not sure I would purchase it again, might look for a different one.

Initial Review:
"In good condition I do not expect a name and other info to be written in broad marker on the first page. The bent pages are more reasonable. I am somewhat disappointed with this purchase. "
Updated Review:
The seller contacted me to resolve this issue and I am satisfied with the response. The seller ensures that "all customers are satisfied or their money back", has refunded me the cost of the book, and has allowed me keep the product "regardless of [my] actions on the feedback rating". As such, I have increased the rating by a star.

One of the better books by this author. My son laughs so hard when I do all the "loud" noises. You have to interact with this book to get the most out of it. If you're not embarrassed to get really loud, then this is perfect to read to your toddler. My son loves it on the last page when I try and make the teakettle noise (along with the others). I knocked it down to 4 stars, though, because the "Mommy's shoes are loud" page irritates me. I never wear heels (and don't know many modern, young women who do in my circle of friends) and it confuses my son. The author seems to go with gender stereotypes in her other books, too. (The "Toot" book says mommy's toots are quiet, daddy's are loud, for example).

This was the first Leslie Patricelli book I bought, and I was truly impressed with it. It has simple yet charming and humorous pictures that both my toddler and baby adore. And it is extremely effective at showing children the difference between quiet and loud. It simply places the quiet pictures on the left-hand side, followed by the loud pictures directly across on the right sided page. These pairs include: whispering/screaming, crayons/pots and pans, fishies/doggies, thinking/singing, snow/rainstorms, slippers/mommy's shoes, sniffles/sneezes, turtles/monkeys, birds/airplanes,libraries/playgrounds, and nap time/playtime. And like her other books, the last pages have a collection of quiet and loud items. The quiet items are: pillow, bunny, plant, ant, cloud, snail, and teddy bear. The loud things are: drum, horn, rooster, firetruck, burp, teakettle, and alarm clock. This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it for babies and toddlers. Not only is it entertaining, it is very useful to teach toddlers the difference between the concepts of quiet and loud, and what quiet is.

This board book, like all others by Patricelli, features a simple, adorable, genderless baby learning about opposites-- in this case, quiet and loud. This book is brilliant for reading aloud; reading the loud pages in a very loud voice (and making sound effects, like a dog barking, etc.) and reading the quiet pages in a whispering voice, makes this a fun read for both parent and child. A couple of notes-- (1) This is not really a bedtime read. The "loud" pages make for a bit too much commotion at a time when babies should be settling down. I tend to read this during the day. (2) Another reviewer commented that it is hard to show how rainstorms are loud to a child. When I read the book to my daughter, I tap my fingers on the book very fast to make a rain-falling-on-the-roof noise, and sometimes add in "boom" or something for thunder. She likes it, and tries to tap her fingers, too. I think the introduction of loud weather phenomena is a good idea, especially because rainstorms can be very loud and frightening for young children in many parts of the country.

This is a very simple opposites book. I like reading this with my kids. It's very simple & they always enjoy it. I bought this when my daughter was about 6 months old, which was 6 years ago & you wouldn't ever guess it was that old. It has put up with a lot of beatings from my daughter & my now 1 year old son. The pages are very thick & sturdy. It's colorful enough to catch their attention & it's just long enough that my 1 year old will let me read the whole thing to him without trying to grab the book & run away. :)

My child comprehends quiet versus loud due to this book. Some may believe it is a tad extreme but to teach a two year old the difference is very nice. He is quiet now when I ask him to be. This was a favorite book for a while but of course less favorite as time goes by and he has mastered being quiet in a library versus being able to be loud outdoors. I have yet to find a Leslie Patricelli book I disliked and to help with simple words and pictures she does it. A+

This is my 20 month old's favorite book at the moment. We do funny voices, interactive motions, and of course the quiet and LOUD volumes to accompany the reading. This book is simple, colorful, and engaging! A great purchase!

My 15 month old son LOVES this book! He really gets the concept of quiet and loud because of it. He is a bit of a cautious and timid kid- not one to enjoy loud noises. But this book makes them fun! He's no longer upset by the clanging when I get out the pots and pans to cook with. He just opens his mouth really wide like the baby on the cover, does a pretend scream like we do when we're reading, and laughs. It has really made a positive difference in our household! As other reviewers have mentioned, I can see him thinking about this book even when we're not reading it. It's really cool to see that in a 15 month old. This author definitely gets kids!

I bought this along with a few other books by the same author as a gift. I must say that the books are very eye-catching whether you're a child or adult. The bold colors and minimalist illustrations are a treat not to mention a good way to teach colors other than the usual red, yellow, blue and green : )

This book is short on words and long on really great illustrations. Quiet Loud and Patricelli's other 2 books are perfect for kids who are just beginning to show an interest in books. The illustrations captivate their attention and the limited number of words doesn't require too much lingering. The illustrations lend themselves to acting out and being silly. This new little book is quickly becoming a favorite at my house!

My 10-month old son absolutely loves this book. He breaks out into a huge smile as soon as he sees the first page. The illustrations are simple and colorful. The words are short and sweet and it is fun to read out loud.

Leslie Patricelli's bold illustrations seem to jump off the page, while the cartoon stylings keep it light. Quiet Loud is my favorite in a series of books that joyfully illustrates concepts. I appreciate that the author enjoys the richness of each of the opposite pairs by focusing each book on one concept. Quiet Loud is my favorite in the series because of the cover baby. Plus, it offers some guidance about appropriate volume level for an environment without coming off as preachy. Quiet Loud is about the pleasure of the sound spectrum, and I gifted this to my infant nephew with hopes of spirited read alouds as he gets older.

A friend just bought this book for my son. It is the first book he has ever brought over to me to read. I read the quiet parts in a whisper and then read the loud parts...well, loud. He loves it. He also wants to go get my shoes when I read "Mommy's shoes are LOUD." It is pretty funny. Great book! Also would recommend Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

My 16 month old daughter absolutely loves this book. She will bring the book to me at least twice a day to read to her. The toddler in the book series is just so cute and adorable that I even enjoy turning every page. This book will also be a great for younger babies since there is a lot of color contrast in the pictures.

This book pretty much is the same as On the Potty, it starts out very well then gets worse in the end. I love how it started then went to the down right boring not so good read.
I do think I would still recommend this book to people I know.

My 15-month old daughter loves this book! I find myself reading it to her a few times a day; she never grows tired of it. The book holds her attention the entire time while I'm reading it to her. The pictures are colorful and eye-catching. I checked it out from the Library to see if she would like it, I guess now I need to purchase it and add it to our home library. I would defiantly suggest this book to read to infants and toddlers.

Quiet LOUD is a board book with only a few words on each page that is easy for a Kindergarten-First grade student to read. I like looking at the silly pictures and reading the words. I especially like reading quietly and then loudly when the book tells me to do so.

My son was 15 months when we got these FABULOUS books and he loves them! He tends to be fairly lound himself so learning about what is quiet and what is loud is a good, continual lesson at our house-this book is the perfect tool and the illustrations are fantastic too. Be sure to check out Leslie Patricelli's other two books as well, Yummy/Yucky (our favorite!) and Big/Little-all are well worth the purchase and great for gifts too.

My daughter and I both love this loud board book! It begins, "Whispering is quiet, Screaming is LOUD," and gets even better from there. It has lots of room for sound effects, and at two years old, she loves to help make the sounds. It's quickly become one of her favorite books, although I did scare her one evening because I was a little too loud...

This is the only book my 13 month old wants to read. I try other books, but she points back to this one. We read it multiple times a day and she never gets tired of it. Illustrations are fantastic and a fun read for us both. I just ordered Yummy/ Yucky and Big/ Little. Can't wait for those!

My 12 month old loves this book and all of the others by this author. I have been reading these to him for several months. It has just enough words and great pictures to keep his attention. The pages are perfect for his pudgy little fingers to turn too. These books are great and make me smile too.
