Probably a good read for middle school age. As an adult, I felt the characters were developed, but not believable if that makes sense. There are young adult novels that I like, but this one didn't hit the mark for me.

I'm honestly surprised at the amount of negative reviews. I read this book before I looked at reviews and I'm very glad I did. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had read the reviews. While the book is a bit cliche and predictable it has a great plot twist. Most of the main characters (excluding Noah obviously ;) are really believable and relatable and I really liked that Zoe included all the embarrassing aspects of life in this book and didn't make Penny this perfect teenaged girl. Overall I really loved it and I totally recommend it.

As someone who is far outside the target demographic for this book (25 compared to the aimed for 15), I actually really enjoyed it.
Main character Penny is relatable, and the cast of characters feels fresh and fun. This book is an excellent read for a younger audience who is struggling to find their place in the world. "Girl Online" is full of excellent modern lessons on how to tackle big problems: social anxiety, online etiquette, first love and true friendship, etc.
Although the teen romance felt awkward (many picnics here) Noah and Penny do truly love each other, and it shows.

Let me just start out this review by stating that I enter books with an open mind. I don't go in looking for mistakes or plot holes or clichés. Sure, I notice that this book had some issues, but those issues don't actually take away from the reading experience. They add a (very odd but endearing) quality to an already adorable book. That could be just me, or other people could feel like that as well, but I don't know (or care, really. I just care about the book).
This book was very cute and fluffy, and a nice (though short) escape from the world academia. I found Penny charming, though at times I wanted to shout at her, especially when she was talking to that total witch. Honestly, I don't know why she was even friends with that girl for the length of time that she was. Noah had the typical personality that the romantic hero in these kind of books has, but I found certain aspects of his character to be quite refreshing.
I wasn't too keen on the speed of the romance, simply because I like more realistic timeframes in my romantic novels. I honestly could have read half of the book and been done with it, but I can't read half of a book and just leave it (unless said book is terrible and I can't even get past the first 1/4 of it *cough cough Maze Runner book 3 cough cough*
Please note that I am aware that Zoella wrote this book, and while I am a HUGE fan of her (and Alfie's) blogs, my opinion of this book was not swayed by my obsession with Zalfie and their pets :-)

I am always amazed when I like something unexpectedly. This is one such case. I wanted to read this one because I'm a bookaholic and two because I've watched Zoe's channel and think she is a very interesting person. I didn't think I would identify with it because I'm almost forty years old and was surprised when I did. I was made fun of in high school and made to feel like I was nothing. I've never been graceful by any means and despite the fact I have friends and family have at times felt perpetually alone. I could understand and sympathize with Penny's feelings and some of the things she went through. I have to say I'm very glad there was no real social media when I was in high school. I think it would have made my high school years unbearable. But well done Zoe. I would recommend this book for not only teenagers but adults as well. Anyone who was ever teased or made to feel wrong will love this book.

This book is honestly so amazing! I started reading it and I could not stop before I got to the end of a key point, yet they're all key points. Do not pick up the book if you're looking for a book where you can stop and start again in a couple of days. The characters are very well developed and I can picture everything happening in the book!

I honestly love this book! There are very few books that are written about panic attacks these days. I think that it is great that Zoey Sugg wrote about panic attacks. It gives great comfort to young girls and boys to know that they aren't the only ones who get panic attacks. Also wonderfully written with great plot twist. I would recommend this to any of my friends!
