My girlfriend and I bought this and have been doing it fairly consistently for the past 5 months or so and love it. It's hard to find anything for the 'dating' couple, but we found this just as useful if you are serious with your partner about marriage (as we are, we're getting engaged next month!). We have been challenged by it and enjoy it quite a bit. Sometimes I find the style in which Thomas writes can be a little hard to read aloud and can trip you up if you're reading it to someone. Nonetheless, there have been some great lessons we've taken from this. I'd suggest it for sure!

My fiance and I ordered this book, very excited to start reading a devotional together before our big day. We LOVE this devotional!! It really makes you stop and think about the true meaning and purpose of marriage. Definitely has been an eye opener for us and has made us realize all of the ways so many people, including us, get so focused on the wrong things. If we remember to keep our focus on God and loving your spouse, or future spouse, the best we possibly can every day, then we will be truly happy. Thank you so much for writing this amazing book and we definitely plan to attend one of your seminars at some point!

Practical and useful suggestions. Only one reading per week. Chapters are short (2-3 pages). Extraordinary perspective written with real life examples and applications. I have Highly recommended it to my closest friends!

My husband and I love this devotional. The entries are the perfect length and really strike up conversation between us. Provides wonderful "food for thought" and it seems each one really ties in well with the next. Would definitely recommend it to others!

My husband and I were searching for something that we could read together/interactively. We read a chapter from this book each week and we take turns reading aloud to one another. It has proven amazing thus far; we ask each other questions after each chapter and try to hold true to the teachings from it for the whole week and then it becomes a beautiful habit after that, like you're not even trying anymore, you just do it. This book is beautiful and I recommend it to any couples (young especially) who are looking to become more connected together, better spouses to one another and do it all through the grace of God!

I’ve been married for 12 years and these devotionals are so good. There are 52 so we try to do one every week. The content is great and really sparks conversations for us. Gary has such a great perspective on marriage and how God intended it to be. We really look forward to reading this each week. Great gift for new marrieds too. His sacred parenting devotional is awesome too.

This is a great book for Christians. It really allows you to evaluate your marriage as what you can do better as a Christian, not just a wife. I thought because it was short, it would take away from the content. But in actuality, its a great an easy read.

My husband and I are not the "devotional book" type, but we are truly enjoying this book. We love that the readings are only one day per week, and even with that, my husband and I sometimes have to read it separately. With a slew of children, time alone is scarce! Also, there is not a big Question and Answer section to be done together; it simply gives couples a heavy truth to think about throughout the week. We have been married 27 years and have a pretty good marriage, but it is time for this "boost"! Give it a try! (Incidentally, we need to order a new copy this week. We just gave our copy away to some newlyweds this week.)

Even after reading the good reviews, I am still surprised how impressed I am with this devotional!! So far, it is very challenging. The author doesn't mince words, he gives it to you straight and his writing is not wishy washy, not your typical marriage book. The first few devotions set a good pace for the entire book. Very convicting. Only one devotion per week is great for this book because it gives time to mull over and contemplate the teachings, while putting them into practice. Don't wait to read this. If your spouse isn't interested in reading it with you, read it without them. It will open your eyes.

Great book, fresh perspective. However, if two people were not applying these principals, these concepts would be very challenging. That said, the idea of self sacrifice, and others first is certainly something that can be applied to other relationships.

This devotional has been awesome for our marriage! I was a bit nervous buying it without being able to thumb through it. But it really helped us to actually TALK about God in our marriage. It will walk you through some topics that really make you think. Each devotion is about 2 pages and gives you a scripture "base" and then a story to go along with it. It is well written and easy to read. We would go out for cheesecake :), pray (which we had never done together before--except at meals), read, and talk. It changed our marriage and brought us closer. We highly reccomend this book!

We received this book when we were married in 2005 and are on our 4th or 5th time reading through it. It's fantastic and always seems to hit home for both of us. We make a point to buy it for couples when we attend weddings now!

What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy? By popular demand the author of Sacred Marriage returns to the topic of how God uses marriage to expand our souls and make us holy. Devotions for a Sacred Marriage explores how God can reveal Himself to you through your marriage and help you grow closer to Him as well as to your spouse. Fifty-two weekly devotions encourage couples to build a marriage around God’s priorities. From learning to live with a fellow sinner, to the process of two becoming one, to sharing lives as brothers and sisters in Christ, Devotions for a Sacred Marriage will continue to challenge couples to embrace the profound and soul-stretching reality of Christian marriage.

Done together with your spouse, this could be an enlightening and encouraging book. Done alone, it takes on more of a 'lie in the bed you made' tone. Which is not to say that it's a bad book, just that it's definitely more of a couple activity. I do wish that it had some discussion questions or follow-ups for each devotion, for if the couple wants to take it a bit further. One thing I like about this is that it's weekly, rather than daily, so it's not overwhelming.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review
My husband and I read the book Sacred Marriage during the first year of our marriage. Every once in awhile you find a book that honors God, properly applies scripture, and has a direct application to every day life. Sacred Marriage by Gary L. Thomas was that book. I was very excited to discover that a devotional for that book had been released. Now we are in a position to recall the wisdom and moments of that book that were so meaningful for us.
I definitely recommend this book for every couple that is married, for every couple considering marriage, and for those that are single and preparing for marriage. There is something in it for everyone.

A straight forward approach to a good marriage God's way. As the author of God's Marriage Manual, I appreciate the sacred angle of this book. It is not rushed - just one devotion to meditate on all week. It is also best when shared and so the once a week format is great for busy couples.
This book will challenge and stretch you and get you to rethink the purpose and the day to day workings of a Godly marriage. Beware - following this just may change your marriage - and your life. A good read.

This is a great devotional for young and old marriages.....the focus is on the Lord in the marriage. Sometimes marriage devotionals are soooo deep etc. that causes friction, instead this devotional opens the door of starting to talk to get to those issues while building your marriage in Him. Very positive influence for marriages. We are celebrating 35 years this year and still love being married!

I bought this for a Christmas gift for my husband. What I love is that the readings are once a week, short, and yet they are relevant and cause us to truly reflect and contemplate our marriage (24 yrs in April!). Mr. Chapman writes in a clear concise style, and my husband has really appreciated and enjoyed the topics. I highly recommend it!
