Great Sci-Fi reading. The plot is very good with multiple characters each having a unique profile. There are twists that keep you guessing or saying, "Oh, I did not realize that was going to happen; that happened. Characters and their riles are tied together with dialog and action sequences rich with descriptions and accounts. Give this one a try. The first book is a free download.

Wish the book was more than one hundred pages though. Have now read five total. Easy reads, well detailed and great character interaction. Kind of expensive when the books are so short. Keeps you wanting more.

Shame he is independent and won't reach more readers, absolutely amazing author. I predict in a few years someone will pick him up and he can finally reach a real audience, sci fi this good is wasted on independent, online only status. Especially when there's so much trash on the shelves at borders. Buy 6 novels and toss 5 away after 2 chapters. This first book kept me up the first night going damn, wish I didn't work tomorrow. If you like sci fi that feels like Pirates of the Caribbean in space, but zero camp and very realistic and gritty story lines, give this guy a try.

I love science fiction and reading new author's (new to me) works. The story is exciting, the characters are compelling and the concept is fresh.
The author does need better proof readers as there are many small errors in spelling that can be distracting.

I have no complaints about this book or the whole series. It is just fantastic enough to keep me totally entertained. I am not a sci-fi freak but I loved this book! I have read the entire available series and the beginning of the one yet to be released. I've started a whole nother bunch of people reading it. It's fun, interesting and quite far fetched...but it could happen :). The battle scenes are well written and I felt as if I was actually present. Spinward Fringe is a great read and an excellent escape from reality. Can't wait for the next book so I can escape again!

Star Trek meets Star Wars minus the Force, Jedi and Jar2 meets Mass Effect. If you like those, you'll feel right at home reading this.
Recommend reading Origin first.
Only thing bugging me is sometimes sentences got cut off when reading it on my kindle app on iPhone. So, -1 there. Otherwise, excellent story.. Will definitely getting rest of the series, and can't complain about the price as well.

Spoiler. I love the story and the characters, but my problem with this book is that the characters from the first book are almost none existent.
You create great characters then in the next part of the story you forget all about them. And to cap it all I am told in the next part you kill the main character off. Which is the reason why I loved the first book. The characters were interesting and fun, and then you do not bother with them.
I will not bother with the rest of the spinward story. I am sure you will kill them all off by the end

Has a cliff hanger ending. In other words, you have to buy the next book in the series to find out what happens.
It's ok. The price is reasonable, in fact great, for the amount of fun and fantasy packed into the story line. I've been cheap and have put off buying the next one, but I'll get around to it.
The bad guys are incredibly evil. The good guys are brave and put their lives on the line for the cause of all humanity. Lots of action, violence, death and mayhem. Strange alien life forms. Super cool technology that has no chance of being developed in our life time.

I found the first book by this author, Origins, as a free download. Once I began reading it, I couldn't put it down and as soon as I finished it (maybe the next day or so), I downloaded & began the next books (Ressurection & Awakening). I won't bore you with a book report, but will say that Lalonde's vision of the future, while not nearly as rosey as Star Trek, is hopeful and well thought out. Keep 'em coming!

The story itself is addicting and involving with good character development and fast paced well described combat.
I really cannot think of anything bad to say about the story itself.
The weak points are all in the editing, or lack of it. I'm tempted to give it 4 stars due to the editing, but considering the quality of the story it just doesn't seem fair. Either way, for $3 this is a steal. I would not have been upset to have paid four times as much.

A great continuation of the story. Jake Valence is a well crafted character with an interesting twist that was alluded to in the previous book. Alice is also a fascinating character.
A well written story with attention to detail and previous story lines.

I recommend reading the Spinward Origins book before reading this omnibus of the first two novels. They pick up where the origins story leaves off and gives the reader an interesting new story arc and adds to the ongoing one.

These books are also very good, although I like the Broadcast 2 better (included).
#1 seems long winded with nothing good happening, but #2 gets some good plot action going.
Both books need editing though I wouldn't care about that, it's a story, not a grammar lesson.
The Good:
Main plot and twists.
Use of technology.
Neutral:
Spelling and Grammar mistakes.
The Bad:
The first subplot, but only a little.

THIS SERIES IS PRETTY GOOD, BUT EVERYBODY KEEPS REAPPEARING IN A NEW BODY WITH MOST OF THEIR MEMORIES (MORE OR LESS).....IT IS STARTING TO BECOME S BIT TOO MUCH. THE REAPPEARANCE CONTINUES THRU THE WHOLE SERIES.....

I'm really enjoying the story and the characters. Had trouble with the first couple of chapters in Origins, but then couldn't put it down. Can't beat the price of these books on the kindle.
This author needs a good edit. Occasional typos. Why are these tough, gun slinging, smart characters all whispering? 92 whispers in Origins, 45 whispers in Broadcast 1 and 2. For all the side comments, mumbling, quiet points, under their breath remarks, murmers, and sighs these characters could be making, from this author, it is all a whisper.
"Shhh! I'm trying to read Broadcast 3: Triton," I whispered.

I read the Spinward Fringe Broadcast 0 and actually found it a little slow at times and a little predictable. Still... it is a good read. I would much rather give it a 3 1/2 but there is no way for me to do that. It is above a 3 but not as good as a 4. I am going to try Broadcast 1 and 2 to hope the writing doesn't drag as much. As an addendum... Broadcast 1 does pick up the pace significantly and Broadcast 2 is even better with a couple of twists thrown in at the end... one of which I did not see coming.

I understand people's concerns about editing and spelling/grammar mistakes, but looking beyond that this is one of my favorite series of all time. I could not stop reading, so please, Mr. LaLonde, make more!

This is just my kind of SciFi. This whole series has kept me awake too late at night and it's hard to put down. The biggest drawback is waiting for the next book to come out. Worth every penny! I don't have much to add that hasn't been mentioned in other reviews, but wanted to add my rating to the rest. Be sure and check out the author's blog at:
