Teenager grabbed it to read. Any time you can pass a book to one of them is good. Not sure if the author's translation is good or not. Seems to be A-ok. Too bad they postulate things that cannot be proven or disproven by papyrus in the introduction. "Do unto others...." (in book).

The philosophy that Ptahhotep emphasize is a great way to live by. I already found that I shared some of the philosophies he speaks of. I will learn to incorporate the other teachings. It's a small book to due scholars not having access to all his work. Most was destroyed or kept in private libraries.
If you're seeking something other than Christian-Judeo teaxhings. You have found what you've been looking for. Htp!!!

Was not impressed by this book was thinking Ptahhotep had something to do with a follower or servant of Ptah the ancient Egyptian god associated with Enki from the Ancient Sumerians, and it was far from that. Like an ancient Egyptians proverbs, but from a monotheistic pov.

Reading some of the first original works of God Ptah, really does brings everything into perspective. We as a people, "Were, and Still are Great Men of God Ptah".
Do your research.

I purchased this text for my Masters thesis. As soon as I leafed through it, I found typos and at least two passages with missing numerical indicators.
I guess it gets its message across nicely, and it is sufficient for my Masters thesis work; however, it seems really rushed with sentences that have silly typos such as "your are".

Great Book, I read a translated version on-line but its nice to have it on hand to refer to at anytime. #5 "In the end only Maat last". I like the African Proverb at the beginning of the postscript; "A counselor who understands proverbs soon sets difficult matters aright". Do Maat and live, it worked for our ancestors so it should work for us.
