Lisa is a true inspiration! I identified with so many of her challenges that it sometimes brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs inspiration or support in overcoming life obstacles whether or not they’re weight related. Thank you Lisa!

A powerful and well written account, Lisa takes us with her on her journey to health and freedom from food obsession. What I really loved about this book is the balanced, honest reporting of her first year following weight loss surgery and the fact that although she is not what is regarded as "a success story" she has achieved true success many times over. Her commitment and courage shine through her writing and her message is an important one for all women out there who struggle with overeating every day.

The format was poorly constructed which made reading the book less than a pleasure. In some places sentences are jammed together and it's an annoyance. In other places a whole page will be taken up by just a sentence or two. I found it to be somewhat distracting.

Lisa has opened her heart and shares her very personal journey. Her book is inspiring, and shows the human side of her most personal struggle. She walks you through her highs and lows, and gives dignity to all who are struggling. I found the book to be helpful, inspirational and engaging.

I really, really wanted to like this but riddled throughout was an incredible amount of fatlogic - things that simply aren't true.

Weight loss is simply a matter of calories in being less than calories out. There's nothing more complicated to it than that. Even if Lisa didn't count calories, she WAS eating a lot fewer calories post-surgery plus working out. I was fine with her relating her personal journey but when she started to provide false information that others may use to substantiate their own weight issues, that I had an issue with.

I felt awful for her to see how she struggled. I think if she'd had therapy early on to help her deal with her binge eating issues and what was at the root of them and had proper guidance on appropriate consumption levels based on TDEE, she'd have had a different life than she did.
