Great starter book for kids. Includes lots of new animals that are not typical for them to learn in the beginning, which keeps it nicely intereting for them. Our boys loved this book & enjoy trying to figure out what animal gets in the mitten next :)

The Story is lovely, but the Kindle edition was a disappointment. The illustrations, at least when seen on the kindle Ipad app, are too small. They only take up a portion of the screen. Since the beautiful illustrations are a major part of this book, I would not recommend getting the kindle version.

I am an art teacher of preschool students and they loved the story and illustrations...but the pictures were too small for them all to see...even when up close to me in a cirlce. Actually went and bough a larger version at Barnes & Noble. :(

Jan Brett's books are all beautifully written and illustrated. This book is as good as all the rest. I bought it (and all the stuffed animals pictured in the story) to give as a gift for my soon-to-be-born grandchild. It's a perfect present!

The pictures are beautiful but the text in this eBook is very irregular - sometimes there is just one word on a line and sometimes lines crodd over onto pictures. For $10 I would expect the Kindle version to be much much better.

Not the book I expected. I was greatly surprised when I received to little copies of the book. I expected a regular size paperback books. Teach me to make sure I read every detail on the page. The story is great!

While The Mitten is a lovely book, beware that the board book version sold here is not the original book. The story has been shortened and simplified, and the language has been watered down. In addition, the gorgeous illustrations appear slightly blurry in this version. I was under the assumption I was ordering the original book in board book form and it’s just not the same - I’m returning this and ordering the original.

I must say, I truly do love the illustrations and artwork of Jan Brett. She is gifted in that area and I'm not going to argue that. What I will argue is that Jan Brett does a pretty darn good job telling a sweet story just through the beautiful images. The colors are bright and beautiful and that group of woodland creatures is just adorable. However... the story is not quite up to other retellings I have heard. Simply, the voice of the story does not match the illustrations and that makes for the biggest flaw.

I read this book with grandchildren, adding much detail with the surrounding pictures that Jan Brett executed so well. This book is a gift to children in Germany! A great story and a fun way to learn English.

I purchased this book as a gift for my grandchildren. They love the story and the intricate pictures with extra details to talk about. It is a keepsake that I recommend to any person wanting to make a special purchase for a child.

It is always nice to expose your child to different cultures - and this book allows you to do exactly that. Nicely illustrated, board book - your child can chew, your child can read, and both of you can have fun!

Jan Brett books are not just wonderful stories, but the illustrations are glorious. She gives a prequel to the next page in the margins of the previous page which creates great discussion for predicting what is going to happen next when reading with young readers. You can't go wrong with this book!

This caught my attention as a Kindle edition, this time the "Kindle Cloud" that was available for non-kindle devices, my Mac computer. It is not the nicest of formats, as the pictures become rather tiny, surrounded by lots of white space. The text is printed too small for the average eyes, although an easy click brings a single block of print into a readable size, but at the same time obscures some of the illustration. Although I am a great fan of Jan Brett art work, this book is not the best version of this familiar foreign tale. The text stretches the story with some lexical expansions that are awkward and beyond the understanding of the expected target reader. It is almost as if it was designed for a "language lesson" with a suplimentary packet for in-class use, rather than good literature. Oh well. It is always interesting to keep up with technology, but I don't like to keep paying to do so. I hope this helps you avoid an unecessary cost.
