My main issues with this series is that nothing really happens and the main character is very selfish. I didn't find her likable at all. I also felt that the interest from Peter was so vague that it definitely didn't feel like a true love triangle. I read the first three and will not finish the series.

I love Amanda Hocking. This series is great and the book will not disappoint you. I have to have some romance and action to make it worthly of a good read. There is supense. I was so disappointed that Wisdom was not on the Kindle. I had to order the book and wait.

This book is terrible, the characters did not show their feelings. You do not really can feel if they are in love or not. They do not know what they want, they do not know what to do with their life. I won't recommend this book.
Hollowmen (The Hollows Book 2) :: Wake (A Watersong Novel) :: Elegy (A Watersong Novel) by Amanda Hocking (2014-02-04) :: Wisdom (My Blood Approves Book 4) :: Fate (My Blood Approves) (Volume 2)

This is definitely the best vampire trilogies that I have read. Loved it so much that I gifted the first book to a friend via kindle for iphone. Other than a few typos, it definitely kept my attention from the first book to the fourth! I sure hope their is more to this series although I seem to accomplish nothing when I am reading her books!

So. I purchased Hocking's much-acclaimed My Blood Approves Series, and was not satisfied enough. I much more preferred her Trilogy on Trylle, much more unique and gripping in my opinion. This, in my opinion, is just another follow-up to Twilight. I know the whole plot is different, but really has the same idea. 2 cute guys battling over one confused and helpless girl. I have to admit, I was never really a fan of vampire/werewolf novels, and that may be just it. But, it was interesting. If you like the whole concept, you can give it a try. I will try to finish the series, to see what happens, but I might not plow through it like I did with her Trylle Trilogy. In my opinion: the first book (My Blood Approves) may be worth 99cents, but the second book, and so on, is not worth their prices. I am currently in the middle of Flutter, book three, and am some-what enjoying it.
Hope my review helps.

THIS SERIS IS SO WONDERFULLY DIFFERENT FROM THE NORMAL VAMPIRE BOOKS YOU READ. I LOVE THAT THE CHARACTERS SEEM REAL AND HAVE REAL WORLD PROBLEMS ALONG WITH THEIR OTHERWORLDLY ISSUES. I HAVE TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS TO GET THIS SERIS AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

Still love all the characters but it's dragging on a bit... Hocking says (and I'm NOT directly quoting her) that she's not as connected with the characters so she's struggling to complete, or perhaps even begin book #5, so I imagine that is why #4 began to trail off a bit (for me anyway)

I am happy to say that I really enjoyed the third book in the series My Blood Approves. Flutter has a lot more action and less all around depression. Alice is now a vampire, and she and Jack are a couple. Shortly after the book opens, Alice and Ezra go try to save Peter from a suicide mission. Peter returns home with them and the love triangle is still a big issue. Milo has a human love intrest, and I was glad that he finally got over Jack. Mae really got on my nerves in this one, but I can definitly see why she does the things she does. I just don't like it.
This third book renewed my intrest in the series. I know Jack and Alice are together now, but I can't help but want her to end up with Peter. Everyone is heading in different directions at the end , and it will be intersting to see how it all pans out. If you lost heart with the series after the second book, you should give the third book a try. The action was an added welcome, and there are a lot of questions that still are left to be answered. One that is really bothering me is about Alice. Why does everyone want her? EVERYONE likes and/or wants her. I know there must be something special about her, so I hope that it is brought up in the next book. I am anxiously awaiting the new release in August!

I have read all four of Amanda Hockings "My Blood Approves Series" I absolutely loved all the characters. I loved the books so much that I also bought her Trylle Trilogy Series and Hollowland, which were, by the way, also so good that i didnt want to put them down. I hope this Author will continue writing alot more books. I will buy every one of them.

I felt compelled to write a review for this book, because I am so bothered by how dissappointing it was. I really loved the first book. I devoured it in one day. I'm a big fan of the young adult romance genre, and fell in love with Jack, and thought the whole love triangle thing was interesting. The second book was good too, but towards the end of the book , I could already tell it was headed into annoyoing territory. By the third book, I wanted to feed it to my dog, and had I not purchased the kindle version, I probably would have. The characters all changed! Their personalities changed, they were all very whiny and irritating. It was very odd. Also, I wanted to stab myself in the eye everytime a character said, "can I come with" or "why can't I come with?". Honestly, who says that? I was filling in the sentence with "me" or "you" just to keep myself from going insane. When the characters from Finland or wherever they were from started saying it, I officially lost all hope that the book/series would end well.

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. I was a bit annoyed with some editing errors in the book, but not enough to keep me from being captivated by the story. New twist on vampires and i throughly enjoyed the series.

By book three, I would like to see some character development. Book one sucked me in, even though it is about "teens" I thought, well I can deal with the immaturity and childlike behavior for one book. Book one was really good. I enjoyed it. It was very similar to Twilight, but I thought heck, most vampire books are these days. Then I read book 2. Oh no, no, no, no. Alice is a horrible character. She went from being aloof and not enamored of Jack to being a total idiot. How? And trying to explain away attraction by "blood approving"? Ugh. What a ridiculous premise. Rather, what an exact same premise as every single other vampire book on the market. Plus, Alice has somehow morphed into this whiny, needy, selfish twit. Now I'm halfway through book 3, and every time she has a sentence I just cringe. Sometimes I find myself hoping this is it, this is where she gets killed off and a better character takes her place because the author realizes what a weak character she is. But no. Hasn't happened yet, and doesn't look like it's going to. Milo is such a better character than Alice. At least he's growing.
And then there's the "Jane" subplot. No. Just let it go. There is no need for a Jane subplot. You have hardly even introduced Jane as a character, and I'm supposed to buy that Alice actually cares about her? Jane is the pesky "best" and best is used lightly, friend who is filler until the real action starts. But the author keeps coming back to Jane. Let her go. She was great in the first book, but there is no reason she should still be around in book 3. You have enough subplots going, and throwing her in the mix makes it a struggle for you and the reader. So much of a struggle, that this reader is out.
Jack is about as dimensional as Alice. As in, he's not. Peter would have been an amazing character to explore, but I'm actually happy that the fictional Peter will not have to put up with the amazingly bland and babyish Alice. The love triangle comes off more like Alice being a whiny brat instead of an actual woman trying to solve a problem. And wanting to kiss Ezra at one point? Too much. You just lost me. I actually snorted at the ridiculousness of that sentence in the book when i read it.
I've purchased up to book 4 because I was so excited about book 1, but halfway through book 3 & I'm out. Even deleted off my e-reader so 6 months from now I don't come back to these because I forgot how much I loathed them.
You want a good series? Try the Merry Gentry series. Written by Laurel K Hamilton. It's actually an original, not a rip off of Twilight.

Flutter is the third book in the My Blood Approves series. Once again, I like the plot of the series and I get drawn into it every time. The story line is a strong one, with the sub plots as engaging as the main story. There are lots of twists and turns to keep the story moving, but the pace probably could have been a bit faster. The love triangle thing just doesn't seem to be progressing at all, with the same angst and issues going on in different situations. However, the characters themselves become more developed with each book, becoming more real and more personable. There was a subplot between Mae and Ezra that was just gut-wrenching at times and almost as key to the story as the main story line. But as much I enjoyed the plot and the characters, the grammar and lack of editing distracted me from the story. There were a lot of grammatical errors that stopped me cold, making me reread a sentence or two just to figure out what was going on. It is obvious there is talent there, but the editing really needs to improve for that to shine through.

My first thoughts after finishing Flutter by Amanda Hocking; Did I just read a rough draft? Now, I realize that Ms. Hocking is an independant author, which means she more than likely edits herself, so I understand the typos, but in Flutter I found them to be extremely distracting from the story line. Not that there was much of a story line. The plot started out exciting, when Alice and Ezra head to Finnland to rescue Peter from a pack of rabid vamps nicknamed the Lycans, however they seemed to wrap that particular conflict up rather quickly, which left the next two hundred pages to be mostly a story of everyday life at the Townsend house. It does pick up again toward the end, but the climax sort of came out of nowhere, leaving me a little confused. That being said, I still very much liked the book. I loved that we got to see a slightly different side to Peter, who I think has gotten a bad wrap since the first book, and I liked that he explained his reasons for doing some of the things he did in the past. I liked that Milo stopped being so irritating, because in Fate I really just wanted to slap him. And I liked the romance between Alice and Jack. I'm still not sure if I am Team Jack, or Team Peter, but at this point I think I'm leaning towards Peter. I'm looking forward to reading Wisdom next, but not nearly as much as I'm looking forward to the release of Hollowmen in October. If you are a fan of Ms. Hocking, or even if you're not, and have not read Hollowland, read it! It is a fantastic book!

I really enjoyed this series and read each and everyone greedily. Because I was already engaged in the story line, I kept reading despite my growing disillusion with the characters. By book 3 in the My Blood Approves series, Alice's constant mood swings, and the manic manner in which each of the Townsend family behaves, I became a little jaded. As well, some situations really lacked in thoroughness and description. I think with some major editing, this series has potential to be really great. The continuing grammar and writing mistakes are a bit frustrating.

The third book in the My Blood Approves series follows with Alice's choice and new life. Peter is in danger, and Alice goes with Ezra to rescue him. When Peter is brought back home, the household explodes with more tension. Alice's little brother Milo has a boyfriend and Alice doesn't like him. Peter and Jack are trying to get along. This book definitely has me rooting for Peter now. Although I still do not quite like Alice, I do like all the other characters. The author provides enough backstory to get us to care about them. I will read the next book in hopes Peter gets together with Alice.

I loved this series. The only negative thing I could say is I wish there were more angsty scenes with Peter and Alice. I get that their blood makes them a match, but I wish they got to really know each other and he fell in love with her because of that and not her blood. Last thing I always seem to notice weird details in different authors writing and sorry Amanda you must have a clean phobia or a touch of OCD. Did anyone notice how often in all 3 books the characters take showers? I mean I love being clean but every other paragraph is Peter stepping out of the shower Jack taking a shower Alice needing a shower!

This was such a huge improvement on character development for everyone in the My Blood Approves series so far. I was very pleased! Alice has grown on me and the sudden spice in Milo's love life has me intrigued. I am worried about Jane, though. We even learn a bit more about Mae's family, and Peter just gets sexier by the minute. This book was a roller coaster rideSoldier Evolution Revolutionary Girl

Sadly, I skimmed a lot of this book. The storyline was good but it needed to be edited. I feel Ms. Hocking's books have a lot of potential and will be much better after they are edited. I look forward to new releases from her through the publishing agency she signed with.
I purchased the first two books of the My Blood Approves series and borrowed this one using a Kindle ebook lending site.
The last book of the series is Wisdom. I will wait a while before picking that one up because I need a break from folded arms across chests and hands running through hair. I will also borrow it and not buy it.
