I gave this 4 stars because after a few chapters it became clear what was going to happen. Where the "cursed" twin is the actual first born. However there are some very interesting scenes in the demon realm with great descriptions of how some of the monsters looked and sounded.

Disclosure: I received a review copy from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Chained by Night is my first Larissa Ione book, and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t read the first MoonBound Clan book, but it was very easy to get swept up into Larissa’s incredible writing and world. I don’t read many paranormal romances but I’d say all PRs should be like this book… it was hot, hot, hot! Chained by Night was full of action and steamy romance that gave me chills and goosebumps (which rarely ever happens).
Some people feel that the whole vampire genre is a little played out, and while The MoonBound Clan series focuses on vampires; Ione brings a refreshing take on it incorporating Native-American lore/heritage into the story. I’m pretty sure having not read Bound by Night (book 1), I missed out on some important world building but again Ione did a great job in the world-building and describing it in a way that made it easy to follow and understand. There are two types of vampires, those that are born and those that are made. I also thought the vampire origin was interesting. Many of the tribes believed vampires derived from the battle between the raven and the crow with their blood seeping into the dead bodies of two chieftains but everything they believed was a lie. Vampires are the children of a demon named Samnult, which readers meet when Hunter and Aylin go on a quest (Samnult first appeared in book 1).
Hunter, the leader of the MoonBound clan and Aylin, Rasha’s identical twin sister were both exceptional leads. Hunter is a compassionate and fair leader, willing to do anything for his clan even if he has to agree to marry a rival clan’s daughter. And Aylin isn’t far off from Hunter. She too has the same characteristics, but she had a rough life growing up in Shadowspawn due to her deformed leg. However, Aylin never lets her slight disability get in the way of what she wants. It was great seeing Aylin’s transformation over the course of the book, it was realistic and believable. Hunter and Aylin’s chemistry was sizzling from the moment they laid eyes on each other (kind of funny as he despises Rasha). The romance was a slow, simmering burn that got hotter as the book went on, which is exactly how I like it.
All of the secondary characters were also awesome, and though readers only meet the clansmen/women briefly they all made lasting impression like Riker, Hunter’s 2nd in command, Baddon, Myne and Nicole. I even liked Rasha. She can be a malicious, conniving B-word sometimes…okay most time, but when she showed that rare moments of emotion and her sisterly side toward Aylin. It shows that deep beyond her hard exterior she has a heart.
Chained by Night was action-packed from start to finish. I devoured the book in one sitting, staying up till the early morning to finish. There was a lot going on in the book; tensions between the MoonBound and Shadowspawn clans, humans/poachers invading the territory, and the countdown till Hunter’s mating ceremony to the wrong girl. I really enjoyed Chained by Night and I can’t wait to read more books in the series. This is a great paranormal romance series. I’ll definitely be checking out more of Ione’s work.

Hunter is a clan chief of the Moonbound vampire clan who is at war with an enemy clan with larger numbers. In a last ditch effort Hunter makes a deal with the enemy clans chief to save his clan and valued members from slaughter. The deal is that Hunter a valued pure blood vampire to the vampire race would mate with the other clan chief's daughter not only to have powerful purebred children but also to make the chief's daughter a queen of an up and coming clan.
After everything is agreed upon the chosen daughter is sent with her twin sister in tow to Moonbound's headquarters to way for the full moon in which the mating ceremony will take place. Everything seems set in stone until it is brought to the two sisters attentions that the first born of every pure blooded vampire couple is to be give as a sacrifice to the demon responsible for the creation of the vampire race. The only way to keep this from happening is to compete in the demon's challenge that he has put together in his own realm. If the challenge is completed then the vampires are allowed to keep they child. The challenge consists of three parts and is highly dangerous and is seldom won. Hunter and his mate must compete in the challenge together but Hunter's chosen mate is to afraid to risk her life for the life of a child even if it is her own. The second sister who is a spitting image of the chosen mate sister offers to compete in the challenge in place of her twin sister in an effort to not only save their future child but also the life of the only person that seems to care for her.
As Hunter and Aylin dive head first into the trials of the demon realm it quickly becomes clear that the challenges may look easy from afar but are very cruel and difficult once started. In the midst of their bodies being pushed to their limits Hunter and Aylin must also work together and stay sane in a world were everything seems out of the ordinary. Even with everything happening around them something seems to be changing between Hunter and Aylin. Feelings for each other begins to surface between the two as they fight for their lives and it is quickly becoming hard to ignore, but once out of the demon realm they can't be together for fear of breaking the contracted deal causing the death of Hunter's clan. The line has now been drawn and Hunter must face the hardest choice he has had to make. Stay with Aylin and be happy risking the death of his clan family or continue the mating to a female Hunter doesn't love and sacrifice his happiness. Two choices, love or duty. Choose wisely.
MY THOUGHTS: I literally flew through this book, I am not even kidding I num num nummed this book all the way up. I am loving this series so much they are extremely good paranormal romance novels with really good plots. Normally I don't read a whole series of books back to back but I will admit that I have now read all three books in this series in less than two months. I will be doing a review for the third book in the series later on. These books don't feel like you're reading the same story line over and over like most book series do. Each book focuses on a different characters with chapters being split up between the point of view of the two chosen characters. The whole method of this type of writing makes it feel like you are getting way more story than you normal would by just reading from one character's point of view. I am officially intrigued and I will be checking out Larissa Ione's other books in the future.

I have been a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione's since I read her Demonica series back in 2009 when I served in the Navy. (Larissa Ione was my go-to author to read after a stressful day at work) I devoured the books back to back, so whenever Larissa brings out a new book/series I'm always there to buy it and read it within a day or two (depending on this stay at home mom's schedule).
Chained by Night definitely did not disappoint at all, and I got to savor every bit of this world Larissa created without any interruptions. (I may have gave my husband the evil stare, whenever he tried to interrupt me reading this book. He definitely learned not to interrupt when reading Larissa's books. LOL)
Chained by Night picks up where Bound by Night left the readers off last, where Hunter has committed to a long-time mating to Rasha from a rival clan. Unfortunately, this relationship is not going to be a happy one at all because Hunter cannot stand his soon-to-be mate. No there's no liking Rasha at all. In fact I wanted to smack her around whenever she had a part in the book. She's all about following the strict ways of her clan and she finds Hunter's way of being too soft. Hunter finds Rasha's father's ways of being too barbaric though. Hunter's going to do everything he can for his clan, so that means hooking up with the craziness such as Rasha. ***Let's just say readers will not want Hunter to hook up with the craziness of Rasha.
There are several other dilemmas that come forward in Chained by Night that make the book hard to put down. The humans are getting relentless and now they want to kill every vampire out there. There's also the issue of Hunter meeting Rasha's twin sister and how he finds her very intriguing and unforgettable.
Larissa gives readers two very strong main characters. One character being extreme alpha, and the other proving she's stronger than what everyone assumes. There's also the storyline that will have you on the edge of your seat because Larissa does an amazing job on having it flow perfectly. Action, heated romance, tension, etc, you best believe Larissa brings it ALL into Chained by Night.
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to PNR genre readers out there. Chained by Night is full of action, tension, romance, and drama with very strong (lovable) characters that will keep you turning the pages to the very end. Fore warning....be prepared to read this ALL night once you start reading it. =)
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Once you get past the terrible Photoshopped aspects of the cover, the pages of CHAINED BY NIGHT hold an acceptable addition to the MoonBound Clan Vampires series. While I wouldn’t say I liked it more than BOUND BY NIGHT, it definitely tied up the cliffhanger from the first book’s epilogue, plus it gave the reader plenty of action and serious chemistry between the main characters.
Ione’s mythology continues to amaze. The world of the MoonBound Clan Vampires series is multi-faceted and built well. More time was spent in CHAINED BY NIGHT on the various vampire clans, and their different ways of life, and less about their interactions with the humans. It a very interesting world, and very creative. This alone makes it stand out from other paranormal romances. One other thing I liked was the fact that the hero and heroine were both vampires. This was not a hundreds of years old vampire falling in love with a 20-something, but rather it felt like two equals coming together. Both Hunter and Aylin were honorable and easy to like, even if I didn’t always agree with their decisions.
What did bother me was that Hunter was promised to Rasha, Aylin’s twin sister, so the times that Aylin and Hunter got together felt like he was cheating a little (even if it was hot). I wish the issue of Rasha could have been resolved before Hunter jumped into bed with Aylin. Plus, the characters had a tendency to be a little flat. I rarely felt like there was any growth of individual characters, they all seemed pretty much the same the entire way through.
Luckily, CHAINED BY NIGHT doesn’t end in a cliffhanger like BOUND BY NIGHT, but there are a few unanswered questions that will keep me coming back for more from the MoonBound Clan Vampires. While this one isn’t a book I’ll pick up again, this series has a lot going for it, and CHAINED BY NIGHT was a fun diversion while waiting for the next book.

I am completely blown away by the level of awesomeness contained between the pages of Chained by Night. From the very first page I was held completely captive, taken away to an alternate plain where vampires fight for survival against the oppressive and tormenting humans.
Hunter is pure unadulterated, sinful sex on legs – OMG – love him! Bronzed Native American muscle wrapped around a loving soul who wants nothing more than to protect his people and bring about peace.
Aylin is amazing – not a whiney, woe-is-me moment to be seen. She is full of spunk, determination and wonder for a world she has been kept hidden from. A no-nonsense, honorable female, worthy of the ultimate alpha male.
I’ll be honest – I was a little doubtful about the success of this series. I found book #1 to be clunky and the MC’s pissed me off, but wow – what a difference! Chained by Night was everything a reader hopes for in a book; an emotionally charged love story full of smouldering looks and dastardly rival clans causing dissension and mayhem.
I even liked Nicole and Riker so much more this time around! And Myne, oh Myne... he pulled some serious heart strings. He is so tortured and lost; I just want to save him from himself! But I am really hopeful that Larissa Ione has an amazing love for him in the form of a tree climbing, disappearing, bounty hunter! I can’t wait to see what is in store for Myne and the rest of the MoonBound clan, I am so excited to read more.
Chained by Night took me on a blood thirsty thrill ride with some hot and steamy moments that had me trembling with desire for a Hunter of my own – my faith in this series has been restored!

I won an advanced copy of this book through a contest. I pretty much started reading it the same day that I finally received the copy. Sadly work got in my way and I was forced to put the book down while I actually earned the green to pay for my shoe and book habits.
Is this a standalone book? Although this is book two in a series (I am hoping a long series, but I haven't done any digging to see how many books may be planned), I think that a person could get away with not having read the first. However, by skipping the first book, a person is going to be missing a lot of the world-building that was done. Plus, let's face it, you'll miss the yummy Riker's story. I recommend reading book one before starting this one.
What do I like best about this world? Although I've read many different books with vampires, I think this one is unique in its spin. The vampires aren't sparkly- they're great warriors, and their origins are completely different for me. The women in the books are not excessively stupid. And I'm intrigued, I want to know more. I want to find out 'whodunit' (sorry, won't give a spoiler and actually say specifically what I'm referring to- even though I really want to!)
Would I recommend this book (and series)? Yes, I would definitely recommend the book to those who like a good paranormal romance. And yes, to the series as well.
Do I plan on reading the remaining books in the series? YES! I can't wait for the next book. I was just sitting here thinking - whose story would I like to read next. And the name that most comes to mind is Myne. I can't wait to read his story.

OMG! I was so overwhelmed after finishing this title I was not sure if my review would give it enough justice. When I read Bound by Night I knew that this was going to be a great series as a result, I eagerly awaited the release of Chained by Night. So I guess you can imagine how thrilled I was to receive a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the first book, but I must say that Chained by Night is my favorite in the series thus far. This book has everything that fans of paranormal romance would love. It’s filled with romance, action and drama. It’s an emotional story of forbidden love and sacrifice that will have you hooked from the first page.
Chained by Night tells the story of Moonbound clan leader (Hunter) who is willing to sacrifice his happiness in a bid for peace between his clan and that of his enemy’s clan. This sacrifice is huge as it means he would be tied to the daughter of his enemy for the rest of his life. This was a fate worse than death as his intended (Rasha) was considered to be a bitch from hell by all who had the displeasure to meet her.
Now Rasha has a twin, Aylin, who is the complete opposite of her. Aylin had a defective leg and as a result, she was treated as an outcast by her father and the members of her clan. Aylin had travelled with her sister to the Moonbound clan to prepare for her upcoming nuptials. Things got interesting when Hunter met Aylin and came to the conclusion that she was nothing like her sister. Things got more heated as it was obvious that they were both attracted to each other. They tried fighting their feelings for each other knowing that the consequences would be devastating if they gave in to their attraction.
Aylin may be physically flawed, but she more than made up for it with her inner strength and courage. She is selfless and she is not the type to wallow in self pity. She proved to be a warrior of the highest calibre. Hunter and Aylin are great together. I loved how they were portrayed. It made it easy for me to connect with them and to enjoy every moment of their journey.
The author’s take on the vampire genre is unique and refreshing. This is an interesting and intriguing read and I could not get enough. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Title: Chained by Night
Series: MoonBound Clan Vampires Book #2
Author: Larissa Ione
Genre: Paranormal
Blurb: THE FUTURE OF HIS TRIBE...Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction—or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader’s daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.
THE LOVER OF HIS SOUL...But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress’s identical twin sister?
Thoughts: This is the second book in this series, and I must say it is an exceptional one! This one just blew me away with how much I enjoyed it, especially compared to the first book. The first book, Bound by Night was good (I rated it a B+, and you can catch that review here: http://wp.me/p2LShB-2qH) but I just fell in love with this one - the story, the characters, really just - everything! It was such an intriguing adventure, that I stayed up way too late because I simply could not put it down. But then - I expected nothing less from Larissa Ione. She is an amazing author, and you certainly see that with this book. What the first one lacked for me definite came back with a vengeance in this one.
I felt bad and sympathized with Hunter completely - to have to do something and sacrifice for the good of his whole clan is difficult enough. But to be betrothed to Rasha? Let's just say the guy has my sympathy for that alone. But to deny the mating is to start a war between their clans, so like it or not he has to make this mating work. To discover his new mate makes his skin crawl - and that he is far more attracted to her twin sister, is just a disaster of epic proportions. The situation is made even more difficult when Rasha consistently disappoints him - and Aylin does nothing but impress him with her bravery, honor, and generosity of spirit. When faced with such a dilemma, what is a guy to do?
Aylin was a constant source of amazement for me. She is one of the strongest female characters I have come across in a long time, and it was a joy to read her story. I hope to see glimpses of these characters in future books in the series (there were quite a few appearances from Riker and Nicole in this book who were featured in Bound by Night), as well as some of the other characters. Still waiting for Myne's story...;)
This is easily a stand alone, if you missed the first book in the series - enough backstory is filled in that you can easily jump right into this story - yet not enough to be monotonous for followers of Ione. Being a fan of Ione's books, this is one of my favorites of hers - and I definitely recommend it! I have no doubt that it will appear on my list favorites for 2014!

Hunter, the leader of the MoonBound Vampires, has promised to marry his enemy's eldest daughter in order to make peace with the ShadowSpawn Clan. Unfortunately, Hunter cannot stand to be around his soon-to-be mate, Rasha. Even further to his dismay, he finds himself attracted to her younger twin sister, Aylin, who selflessly agrees to go on a set of dangerous trials with him after Rasha selfishly refuses. As Aylin and Hunter grow closer, the pair find themselves torn between duty and love.
Chained by Night is the second book in Ms. Ione's amazing MoonBound Clan Vampire series. While the author does an excellent job of setting the scene, and the book can be read as stand alone, I feel that one would miss out on too much background and world building by skipping the first book, Bound by Night. With that said, I found myself wrapped up in the adventure and warmed by the romance right from the get go. Chained by Night is an excellent story that kept me glued to the pages of the book until I was finished.
While I adore the overall story and found the action, adventure, and heroism exciting, it is the characters that make Chained by Night such a wonderful tale. I completely adore Aylin. Since she was second born, she has no standing among her Clan, even though her father is Clan chief. In addition, she has a crooked right leg, making it hard for her to hunt or compete, which puts her lower than dirt among the Clan. Although Rasha cares for her sister, she firmly believes in the rules and rolls of the Clan, and she talks down to Aylin and has ways to put her in her place. But there are hints that although she provides tough love, Rasha has done things to help her sister. It's an interesting dynamic, which effectively gives the "bad guy" some likable qualities.
Watching Aylin come into her own is just fabulous and allows me to connect with the character on an emotional level. Now that she is away from her clan and father, Aylin learns to speak her mind and trust her instincts. Time alone with Hunter on the quest also gives her confidence and an inner strength that just shines. I adore that she revels in her own growth and development rather than her feelings for Hunter. And best of all... she stands up to Hunter to protect her own heart, rather than just give into the lust brewing between the pair. She is utterly strong and just awesome!
And let's not forget Hunter. He is a noble male feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place. Right from the start, he is extremely introspective about his thoughts and feelings towards Aylin, knowing he cares deeply but stuck with the promise to mate with Rasha. He is determined to sacrifice his own happiness for the good of his clan. The pair work well together, both mentally and physically, as witnessed on their dangerous trials. I also enjoy that the pair communicate rather than let things stew. They voice their mutual desire and frustration over life and their situation. And together, Aylin and Hunter create a maelstrom of intense heat, so when they finally get through the muck and mire, their romance is like the fires of instantaneous combustion!
After all is said and done, there are some big changes and shifts among rival clans, as well as within Hunter's own central core. There are a few situations that came up during the course of the story that are still open, somewhat to my frustration. I am interested to see the political fall out of Hunter's decisions, as well as what happens for both Myne (one of Hunter's elite fighters) and Rasha.
Overall, I loved reading Chained by Night! I was engaged from the beginning and fell completely in love with the hero/heroine pairing. The story has a powerful romance and exciting action, but also tender, emotional moments. I completely loved Aylin for her amazing strength. I admire that she puts Hunter in his place and doesn't give in to her desire when she knows it's not for the best. The characters totally drove the book and make it incredibly enjoyable. And with the way some things were left open and unfinished, I am itching for the next MoonBound Clan Vampire book today!

For his people, MoundBound leader Hunter will mate the first born daughter of a rival clan chief. War with humans is coming and he cannot afford to fight a battle on two fronts. Hunter has accepted his fate, until he meets Aylin. Twin sister to the viperous Rasha, Aylin was born with a deformity, making Rasha the prized first daughter and Aylin an abomination in the eyes of the ShadowSpawn clan. To Hunter, she's brave and beautiful and when she puts her life on the line to help in a set of deadly tests that will free him of his curse, Hunter knows in his heart who is true mate is. Problem is, to take Aylin in place of Rasha is to risk death and destruction for his people.
The role of leader fits Hunter like a glove and stays just shy from being an alpha a-hole (he does come close). In book one, I found him to be cold and was turned off by his `do what it takes for the greater good and that's that' attitude, but after his past is explored and I see things from his perspective, I get it. He loves his people and is prepared to sacrifice anything for them. Just about every male in this series have warrior qualities and Hunter encompasses the best of them all.
To say Aylin's life is a living hell doesn't begin to scratch the surface but don't pity her because she has no use for it. Her people freely abuse her due to her birth defect that makes her little better than an animal in their eyes but she'll never roll over and take it. Aylin is not just a survivor, she's a warrior. Is my girl crush showing yet? Alyin is awesome with a capital A.
Anyone who has ever read a PNR like this knows how the romance works out. Let's not pretend I'm revealing spoilers by talking about Hunter and Aylin rather than Hunter and *shudders* Rasha. So, Hunter and Aylin, talk about emotional. The chemistry ignites a fire from the first meeting and the flame only burns hotter as they try and ignore what's happening between them. The ending is what you want it to be and the journey to just about left me exhausted.
I liked the first book, I loved this one. Part of it is the characters. Everyone brings out an emotion in you, for Rasha and her father Kars that would be disgust and disdain, and they all leave an impression. The humans are still present and the biggest threat to vampire kind, yet that part of the story takes a back seat to Hunter and the trials he must face in order to break the curse that promises his first born to a demon. It adds nonstop excitement that was missing in Bound by Night. Mix in Native American elements and an agonizing yet sweet and sexy romance, Chained by Night turns the volume up on this series and leaves readers pumped for more. Well, at least I am and I hope the next installment involves a lot more Myne.

Book one of this series was really good but this second installment was even better than the first... definitely one of my favorite paranormal romances I've read this year. Must have more Larissa Ione... must have more!
In this book Hunter is preparing to mate the Queen of Hell from the neighboring clan Shadowspawn. And, when I say that... I'm not kidding... Rasha is AWFUL!! No man should have to be saddled with such torture. Hunter is definitely taking one for the team.
The star of this book for me was Aylin... Rasha's twin sister. She was born with a defective leg. This defect was seen as a curse and weakness and she was treated as an outcast in her own clan. She was sent with her sister to serve as a decoy in case of an ambush as they traveled to Moonbound. Having to always live in the shadow of her sister, watching her have all the things she could never have was not an easy life for her. But, she handled it with her head held high and woke up every day doing what she had to do to survive. Things shifted however, when she found herself desiring the man who was to be her sister's mate.
Even though Hunter doesn't trust either of these ladies, he can't help but be drawn to the beautifully flawed Aylin who surprises him with her courage and strength. Watching her character grow, seeing her bloom into a strong woman and feeling desired for the first time in her life was heartwarming. I love seeing an underdog rise to the top! And rise she did...
This series is filled with creative characters and I love the authors use of the Native American heritage as a foundation for the overall story. I can't wait to see where this author takes us in future installments.
All in all an engaging, creative, heartwarming and steamy read that leaves you wanting more... highly recommend to paranormal romance fans!

Last year, Larissa Ione introduced “The Moodbound Clan Vampires” series with the opening book “Bound by Night” which I thought was a fresh new take on vampire books. (I’ve included a link to my prior thoughts on this novel below) In this series, Ms. Ione revolutionizes the Vampire myth by bringing it out of the dark ages and into Modern America. Our new sexy vampires are now of Native American decent- this means all things Native American by incorporating tribal customs and mythology as well as tribal wars, slavery and revolutions against man and tribal gods.
Chained by Night has taken this series to a new level by bringing in a new heroine element- disability/disfigurement. If you want a real heroine, Aylin, with all the human emotions, here’s your chance to see how the other person feels; in this case Aylin, who was born with a birth defect, made to feel not only undervalued but unworthy, unloved and enslaved by her own Clan finds the strength to overcome these emotional and physical obstacles and become a powerhouse female.
Ione pairs this strong female to Hunter- a second generation Vampire and leader of the Moonbound Clan. Yes, he’s a strong, tall, handsome man who has earned the respect of his Clan through hard work and doing what’s necessary for the good of the clan. Yet, you’ll frequently find him blowing off steam by playing video games–to help him think.
For those looking for something fresh, new, well written and want to emotionally invest several hours in, this is the book for you. If you’re into vampires who are quirky or dark or come from an ancient line descended from thousands of years ago, this book may not be for you. The spine of this book states “Pocket Books Fiction”– not romance, not horror. But, to give fair warning for those who need it, there is violence, sex and yes, erotic blood-sucking.

I loved this book! If you're a paranormal lover you need to get this series and devour it! Larissa Ione is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors and her MoonBound Clan Vampire Series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. You know those series you follow that you have to get the day they come out and sometimes you wait until midnight for it to hit your ereader hitting refresh every few seconds so you can start it. Ummmm...hopefully that's not just me. Chained by Night is the second book in Larissa Ione’s MoonBound Clan Vampire Series and I loved it even more than I loved the first book. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order. Chained by Night is full of action, danger and passionate romance. Hunter and Aylin's chemistry burned up the pages. I loved them both! Larissa Ione creating a new paranormal world that captivates the reader. Once I picked up the book I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

First off, when I read any of Larissa Ione's books I know that I'm going to read something different. The MoonBound Clan Vampire series is a great example of her fantastic and imaginative world building. In most vampire books vampires are at the top of the food chain so to speak, and while vampires should be in this world (with their strength and healing), instead they have been enslaved by humans. Through sheer numbers, technology and advanced weaponry humans have made slaves of vampires and it is absolutely legal. So yeah it is a dark and dirty kind of world that makes you want to cheer the vampires on in taking back their lives and freedom.
Chained by Night is all about Hunter, Rasha and Aylin and I'm not going to reveal any spoilers with regards to who Hunter ends up with in the story. Hunter intrigued me from the first moment I read about him. He is a great leader who has managed to be a better chief than his father before him and inspires loyalty and love among his people. His integrity caused him to make an agreement to mate Rasha in the first book and to stick with it when it's obvious that she doesn't care anything about him. Rasha will make you hate her (more), while wondering if there isn't a shred of goodness in her somewhere. Aylin will awe you with her selflessness and courage, and make you hope for a miracle. The romance in this book is HOT and the chemistry is amazing!
I thought the first book in the series, Bound by Night, was really good even though I had a few small issues with it, and I can say that while reading Chained by Night I was terrified that the author wasn't going to be able to pull it all together. However, I wasn't disappointed and I absolutely loved it! I am dying to read the next one! I really, really hope the next book is about Myne. Please tell me it is! We get to see a little more of his back-story and I hope he finds his brother somewhere. My heart totally went out to him in this book. Anyway, great book, big freakin' five stars!
Definitely a Must Read!

Chained by Night by Larissa Ione
Paranormal Romance -Sept. 30th, 2014
4 1/2 stars
Chained by Night is the second installment in the author's new and edgy MoonBound Clan Vampires series. It is about ruthless vampires that have been enslaved by humans but are now plotting for freedom and sometimes vengeance. Tortured and experimented on the `free' vampire have become utterly brutal to survive. Except for the MoonBound clan and its new leader Hunter. He wants a more civilized vampire world, not one ruled by superstition and violence at every turn. Unfortunately, he has made a pact with a ruthless vampire clan called the ShadowSpawn. He will mate with their first born daughter and create a united front towards peace. However, his wily ShadowSpawn betrothed named Rasha has plans of her own. Devious and even cold-hearted, Rasha she only lives for power. With Rasha is her crippled twin, Aylin accompanies Rasha she is surprised that the MoonBound clan does not scorn her for her deformity or tender heart. After Rasha's wedding, Aylin will be sent to marry another clan chief but one that is cruel.
When both sisters meet Hunter, Aylin is drawn to the honorable and handsome vampire, and wishes she could change places with Rasha. To her surprise Hunter seems to return her regard. But the odds seems against them. However, when Rasha refuses to go on a sacred quest with Hunter and Aylin volunteers to go in her place the two find a love that cannot be denied. Will they be able to fight against two ruthless clans that have agendas of their own?
Dark, edgy and primal. The brutal way the vampires enforce and keep control through fear made the story very suspenseful. This book is filled with tension, passion and longing. I enjoyed the first book, but Chained by Night is ten times better!! The romance between Hunter and Aylin and the suffering they endured had me rooting for them from their first meeting. I totally hated Aylin's sister, Rasha. She was immoral and didn't deserve her good sister or Hunter.
Hunter is a strong warrior but unlike the other vampire clans he refuses to lead through violence and fear. He is haunted by how his father ruled and wants change in the vampire clans. He hopes uniting with Rasha will ease his new ideas. But when he meets Aylin he is taken by her kindness and courage. Even though she is demeaned by her own clan she cares for others and still fights to stay alive. Her will to live through humiliation and help others made me want her happiness after so much heartache. I was so glad Hunter could see how wonderful she was and fight for her despite the political ramifications. This book also had a lot of twists that kept the plot rolling and added to further intrigue! Chained by Night is another winner for Larissa Ione.
This book will have you on the edge or your seat. I didn't want it to end and can't wait for more books in the series!

It is a violent and deadly world that the Moonbound Clan must navigate. Hunter has vowed not to be the monster leader his father had been. But it is difficult at best to resist his vampire rages. He is determined to be honorable in a totally dishonorable world. His betrothed is from a clan where her father is the despotic ruler and she has been raised to obey and is calculation, manipulation and evil personified. Her sister on the other hand is not at all like that. She has a deformed leg that has made her an outcast in her own clan, shielded only because her father is chief. Because of her traumas in her clan she is compassionate and nothing like the others in her clan and Hunter falls in love with her.
This is the second book in the Moonbound Clan Series. The first BOUND BY NIGHT introduced the world of vampires and humans in the USA. Set in the Pacific northwest, Ione sets the stage with vivid images of the forests of this area where the vampire clans exist, constantly avoiding humans who want to capture them for slaves and trying to maintain peace between clans. She creates a fantasy world where magic exists along with demons and vampires.
This is a page turning read. It is chock full of action, adventure, violence, fantastical monsters and monstrous vampires and humans. The pages turn quickly as I was anxious to find out how the author would bring about the happy ending that I knew would happen but which seemed far beyond the reach of the protagonists. The fast pace and sizzling sexual tension kept me reading long into the night. This is a standalone novel but it does have characters that are in the first book. I think the world of the Clans and the dynamic between humans and the vampires can be understood more fully if you start with the first book in the series.
I highly recommend this book and this series to Paranormal Romance fans.

Quick Review : Two words: Larissa Ione!!!
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
REVIEW:
In Chained by Night we pick up a few months after where we left off in Bound by Night (bk1), with Hunter waiting to be mated to a rival clan’s first daughter. But this is not a mating of love, but one of duty. Even so, Hunter is willing to do what needs to be done to protect his clan. So when Hunter’s intended mate is attacked outside his clan’s walls he runs to her rescue. Once she is safe Hunter is happy to see that she is more than he could have wished for.
Aylin is strong, feisty and determined. Unfortunately, she has been told all her life that she is nothing and noone. But in Chained by Night Aylin learns so much about herself and grows into an amazing person. One of the many things that Alyin learns is that she loves a man that can never be hers.
Rasah is Hunters intended mate. And let me tell you I hate this girl. I mean I wish there was a deep dark hole for her to fall into. Rasah, has no problem taking what she wants no matter who she hurt or what stands in her way. Not even her sister.
This book was Awesome sauce. I honestly don’t think that I have met a Larissa Ione book that I have not fallen in love with. And like all of Ms. Ione’s books, Chained by Night kept me up late at night and turning that next page to see what would happen. If you have not read Bound by Night you need to start there.
I am hoping that Myne’s story will be told next. Although there are many others that need a story too :) Either way I will be very happy for the next book in this series.

Chained By Night
Larissa Ione
Pocket, Sep 30 2014, $7.99
ISBN 9781476700182
In the Seattle area, the ShadowSpawn and MoonBound vampire clans have been at each other’s throats for centuries; as each possesses polar opposite philosophies of life. However, recently the respective leaders agreed to a marriage of convenience pact. MoonBound chieftain Hunter will wed the ShadowSpawn leader Kar’s daughter Rasha in exchange to the latter returning the captive wife of a member of the former’s clan (see Bound by Night) and other peaceful considerations.
Though he detests what he must do as he knows of the brutal reputation of his fiancée, her father and her clan adhering to violence, stoic Hunter accepts an eternity with her. That is until he meets her gentle rejected twin Aylin; his heart knows who he should be engaged too. Soon afterward, Rasha refuses to join her future mate on a trial quest, but Aylin offers to go. As the couple fall in love, each realizes that a marriage between them means a return to the clans’ hostilities that remain boiling just below the surface.
The second Moonbound Clan Vampires paranormal romance (see Bound by Night) is a fabulous action-packed star-crossed urban fantasy. The diversity between how the two clans survive amidst the humans makes for an intriguing drama as readers will accept the existence of vampires in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally there is also a terrific forbidden love story.

*I gave this audiobook an A- for the story and narration at AudioGals*
Narrated by Amy Landon
I loved this feel-good paranormal romance that leaves you with the warm and fuzzy feeling that good always triumphs over evil. Moreover, I'm a sucker for an underdog, and this novel features the "ugly duckling" trope, making the triumph that much more satisfying. This was my first experience with Larissa Ione, but I have no doubt that I will be seeking out more of her works in the future, as this well-written PNR reminded me of why I used to be so in love with this sub-genre: the fantasy/adventure was riveting, the suspense was mind-provoking, and the romantic tension was tantalizing! Further adding to the allure of this audiobook is the fantastic narration by Amy Landon, who does a wonderful job of bringing this romantic and dangerous paranormal world to life.

Seriously, Larissa Ione can do no wrong... EXCELLENT read! I will admit that I didn't love book #1. Yes, I liked it, but after devouring her Demonica and LoD books like the world's most decadent treat, I wasn't sure if I was going to be in for the long haul with Moonbound Clan. I can tell you with 100% certainty now that I AM! :)
Picking up where Bound by Night (book #1) leaves off, Hunter is resigning himself to a lifetime commitment to a woman he doesn't even like, let alone love. In an effort to save his clan he made a deal with the clan chief of another to marry his daughter, thereby strengthening both clans. Unfortunately, this isn't the only hardship. The humans are coming out en masse to try and destroy the vampires and life for the foreseeable future is looking challenging.
Action-packed, sexy, and intriguing with a super strong female that I adored, an incredible alpha male just soft enough around the edges to entice, a hated antagonist group that sickened and a group of supporting cast that will have you loving and hating with equal measure, Chained by Night was a 'stay up extra hours' engaging read that had me wanting the next book of the series immediately.
Highly recommended! Though I do suggest reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment.

Why you should read it: This is the second book in Larissa's Moonbound Clan Vampires series and is very steamy. It all starts out when Hunter saves some of his clan members by agreeing to marry a rival clan's daughter … then said bride-to-be gets attacked by Vampire Hunters and he has to rescue her … only to realize it's the wrong twin (long story). What follows next is Hunter and Aylin falling in love, and questing to save Hunter's future children (long story) together. What I loved was the questing and the deadly tests. Larissa is a master storyteller and I found myself falling for Hunter and Aylin (through Hunter's eyes). I definitely recommend reading the first book, Bound by Night, because the background information is already set. I found that since I had an understanding with the way the world worked, I wasn't so bogged down with details and information, and I really liked this one even better than book two.

Chained by Night, Book 2 of The MoonBound Clan Vampire, by Larissa Ione follows Hunter, a vampire clan leader, as he has promised to marry Rasha Redmoon, the daughter of another clan leader, so that their clans can have a bond and not start war. The only problem is that Hunter hates Rasha and finds her sister’s, Aylin, company a lot more enjoyable. Aylin, though, has been promised to another clan leader, one that doesn’t treat anyone kindly and Hunter knows she will be abused. Through twists and turns, Hunter finds himself getting closer to Aylin as they go another dimension to prove their strength and not have to sacrifice his firstborn to the demon Samnult, they grow even closer. The clan leaders don’t like Hunter trying to take Aylin away from them, but he knows he must follow his heart, no matter the cost.
This book was enjoyable, full of mystery and surprises, and it was hard to put down. I really enjoyed Aylin and found her to be a strong character by the end of the story. I loved her development through the story and how she learned to stand up for herself. She reminded me a bit of Gomora from Guardians of the Galaxy, having to do what her leader says all the time until she finally stood up for herself and helped the enemy, which would have been Hunter’s clan in this book.
As for Hunter, I liked him a lot more in this book than the first. I don’t know if it was because I got to know him more than just a leader or if it was something else, but I found him a lot more interesting. I usually don’t care for the good guy leader type, but this story had me captivated. He reminded me a bit of Charming in the end, trying to appease those in charge but ending up standing up for love instead.
Some things I didn’t care for in the writing style was that the author sometimes switched character viewpoints to one character and then never came back to them just so she could get information across. I prefer a story that stays to certain characters throughout the entire novel, otherwise it feels broken and disconnected. At first I didn’t like how it had completely switched the focus on a different set of characters compared to the first book, but after a while I realized the author wanted to tell a new story, not expand on the last. The characters were still there, but they were in the background.
Lastly, I found it odd that in the first book, the vampires seemed more scientific, that it was more a virus that no one knew how started and didn’t seem to have the supernatural element, but in this book, the supernatural element was played up a lot more with traveling to another dimension and Samnult being a demon and such. I found this to disconnect the stories and wished it was either mixed better, or either a scientific or a supernatural approach was taken.
All in all, I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait for the next book in the series. It is full of action and romance and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I give it a 3.8/5!

A deliciously sexy, hot and sizzling book that I never wanted to put down. Hunter and Aylin definitely are the couple that you want to be together despite everything that’s thrown at them. Hunter finds himself in some very interesting positions that he never expected.
When we start the book, we learn that Hunter’s intended mate, Rasha has a twin sister Aylin has a deformed leg that her clan has kept a secret. This has definite problems because with twin sisters, you know that they will be causing some problems for both of them. Rasha wants to know what kind of male Hunter is, so they decide to have Aylin pretend to be Rasha first, so that way, Rasha will know what she is getting. Rasha has her own agenda of course, but Hunter is trying to broker a peace alliance. Of course that’s not going to be as easy as he thinks it will be with these two sisters.
As we go through this book, we learn that Hunter is a strong, smart, male. He also has an incredible attraction to Aylin, not Rasha even though he is promised to her. So of course there is an insane chemistry between the two of them. I totally despised Rasha, and I think as a reader we are supposed to instantly dislike her because she comes across as a complete bitch. Aylin seems to want a different life than the one that she has had because of the abuse she has suffered being born deformed has left her at the mercy.
As the relationships get more complex, you come to immediately like the chemistry between Hunter and Aylin. Rasha does have her secrets and yet this book takes some interesting, unexpected turns. The relationship between Hunter and Aylin is a lot more interesting and in some ways more passionate. Hunter really doesn’t feel anything for Rasha except fears what she will do if he mates her. As Hunter is going through the challenges with Aylin, he realizes that Aylin is a lot stronger than anyone thinks. Plus Aylin has an ability that she has kept secret. While on the quests/challenges there becomes a deeper connection between these two characters that is wonderful.
Towards the end, a lot of things come to light that we don’t expect. I always love the twists and turns that Larissa Ione puts into her books. She did something that was such a great twist with how to resolve the problems, plus Rasha pulling that out of her bag regarding who and what Aylin really is, it was so good and worthwhile. Plus Rasha stepped aside because she didn’t really want Hunter, but saw that her sister really did. I totally really enjoyed this romance. It was such a great book. I so want to read the next book in this series now. I guess I will have to wait.

Chained by Night
by Larissa Ione
Chained by Night, is a new look at the mythos and ideology of the Vampire Novel. The novel is interesting look into the back story of the MoonBound Clan Vampires. Only those “Born Vampires” know the real story about the Vampires origin. In Chained by night we learn that there is more than just a misdirection of the stories. Each Original, First Born, or Second Generation born vampire has a choice finish a challenge or lose their first born child. The divisions of individuals who attempt to finish the challenge, or those who choose the loss of a child show more of the psychology of the vampires involved.
The book Chained by Night follows the story of Hunter, the leader of the MoonBound Clan of Vampires outside Seattle. Hunter is forced in the previous book, Bound by Night, to accept a marriage he does not want. Hunter is reluctant to marry the violent, beautiful and unpredictable Rasha Redmoon the first daughter of the opposing clan ShadowSpawn. Her father Kane is a maleficent leader with violent and irritable nature that follows the path of the Raven. His violent nature has been legendary. His absolute control of his clan has led to extreme megalomania. The fear of betrayal and the desire to keep what is his own Hunter has many personal struggles. What he did not expect was Aylin Redmoon, Rasha’s twin sister.
Their personal struggle is over shadowed by the violent circumstances occurring around Seattle. The Violent attacks of the Daedalus compounds and the changing of Nichole into a vampire has repercussions. The company is issuing a death warrant to all free vampires. A price for pelts and teeth of vampires has brought a rash of people into the woods around Seattle attaching the clans and lone vampires. The solution to this and all the clan’s problems may simply be War.

First Thought when Finished: Holy hotness batman! Chained by Night by Larissa Ione ranks in the top 3 books by her that I have read.
Story Thoughts: OMG I love where this series is heading or at least where I think it is heading. With Larissa she could be hooking me left and then sending me right. She is sneaky like that! However, what I really love is all the Native American heritage tie-ins this series has. It played such a huge part in Chained by Night. I was just giddy listening to it! The only part that caused the story to be 4.50 instead of 5 I will mention way down below in a spoiler area (so you are warned now not to click on it).
Character Thoughts: HUNTER---no, wait a minute. I have to say the most kick ass character in this story was Alyin. She had one brilliant story arc and never (not for one single moment) did I feel any kind of pity for her. She was strong, smart, and beautifully written. She seriously rocked it! Hunter is HOT. He can wear his loin cloth around anytime he wants too. I won't complain a bit. The fact that he is super alpha, extremely loyal, and unbelievably awesome at leading play a part in his awesomeness too. However, I am just going to stick with loin cloth. Have to say, there are several people I would love to get stories in this series. I looked and no hint at what is coming down the pike. I think that is cruel and unusual punishment for the needy gal that I am! I am hoping Baddon but I am guessing he needs at least another book before he is settle down ready.
Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Amy Landon / Length: 11 hrs and 40 mins
I thought Amy Landon did a good job with the narration. I think she nailed Alyin and even nailed Rasha. I wish that a guy had done Hunter's voice but she did a pretty good job with his voice too. The pacing was excellent and emotions were spot on!
Final Thoughts: Count down has begun to book 3!

MoonBound’s chief, Hunter has agreed to mate with ShadowSpawn’s first born daughter Rasha to form peace between the two clans. His first encounter with Rasha was not as bad as he thought…well until he realized he had mistaken her for the wrong twin, Aylin. Rasha is a mean little thing, nothing like her twin, that proves to make Hunter’s life miserable.
He finds himself drawn to Aylin’s softness and love of all things good and pure. Aylin has always been treated as defective in her clan. With her deformed leg and being second born no male will touch her. Her father plans to mate her to Tseeveyo. An evil bastard from the NightShade clan. She decides to try to do anything and everything in her power to not make that happen.
When the demon responsible for the creation of vampires Samnult requires Hunter and Rasha to pass a test in order to keep their first born, Rasha refuses. Aylin agrees to take her place in the demon realm.
Only thing is neither had any idea what they were getting themselves into. Forced to share blood…naked opens feelings that the two have been trying to fight.
What happens in the demon realm stays in the demon realm.
Together they must fight evil creatures and dangerous terrain if they want to survive and give Hunter any chance of ever keeping his first born. Hunter sees a strength in Aylin that he knows he will never see in another female. Aylin makes the ultimate sacrifice and once they succeed gains a new ability that endangers them all.
With threats from Rasha, other clans and the humans, Hunter and Aylin must fight to save MoonBound and any chance that they have of ever being together.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This series is definitely one to watch. It has a truly unique blend of Native American origin stories and vampire mythology. The story was so completely addictive that I had trouble putting the book down!
Hunter is the leader of his vampire clan. Having grown up in a very hostile environment, he strives to make sure he is nothing like his father, the previous clan leader. In an effort to make allies out of another clan (and hold off a possible war), he agrees to mate the clan leader’s first born daughter. Rasha is a horrible horrible person and an even more evil vampire. She was raised in a clan where torture and fighting were everyday occurrences. Her twin sister, Aylin, was the supposedly cursed second born female. Her leg is slightly deformed and she walks with a limp. These things relegate her to the same status as the lowliest of peasant. She is considered a burden on her clan, and thus is offered to another clan leader (probably the worst one) in exchange for an alliance. All hope seemed pretty lost at the start of the story, but, lucky for them, there is a human hunter attack on both the clan and Rasha’s traveling party (of which Aylin is a part).
Through a bit of miscommunication and confusion, Hunter ends up saving Aylin, believing her to be Rasha. Sparks fly almost immediately and from that point on I was sold on this romance. I am in love with this couple! Hunter easily overlooks any outside deficiencies that have played such a prominent role in Aylin’s life so far. She is far from the weak little thing that Rasha and her father believe. Right from the start, Aylin shows that she is much stronger than her sister. This couple was a wonderful match. I was also surprised by the lack of awful misunderstanding between this pair. Typically in a PNR you’d get to a point where you hope the couple is truly on their way to happiness when suddenly there is a horrible misunderstanding that makes us all suffer. It was nice to have a change of pace when it comes to paranormal romance. This pair of warriors was amazing to watch. We also had the bonus story of Myne and whoever he ends up with thrown in. This guy is growing on me with each additional bit of information we get.
Overall, if you’re looking for an action packed, sexy, paranormal romance with some truly unique twists, you should definitely dive into this series. I’d recommend starting with book 1, but this book could probably be read as a standalone if you can’t wait to fall in love with Hunter and Aylin.

Chained by Night by Larissa Ione is the 2nd book in her MoonBound Clan Vampires series. It’s a great paranormal romance set in a world where vampires are hunted and have a tenuous grasp on freedom against the humans. I really liked this book, even more then the first one, I think. Hunter is a great hero. He’s the powerful and dangerous Chief of the MoonBound Clan. We see a softer side of him in this story as he is struggling to do what is right for his clan, but it goes against every instinct he has. I like how he saw past the surface with both Rasha and Aylin. The heroine was a wonderful character as well. She’s loyal, clever and strong. She held her own with Hunter and wasn’t afraid to stand up to him. Their romance flowed within the story. It was forbidden and achingly intense, both physically and emotionally.
This is a book that I recommend that you read without any knowledge of the plot beyond the book blurb. It’s a tightly woven story, with a lot going on. You find yourself wondering how everything will work out and I think it’s more enjoyable to discover those answers as the plot unfolds.
Chained by Night is filled with intense emotion, sizzling chemistry and life threatening dangers. The world-building is expertly crafted. It is dark, dangerous and vividly portrayed. The characters have emotion and depth. I could feel the connection and the yearning as they tried to do what was right for the Clans. There is adventure, romance and dangerous battles. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I look forward to the next book.
Chained by Night is highly recommended to fans of Paranormal romance, though I recommend that you read the first book, Bound by Night, first. It contains some important back story for Chained by Night.

REVIEWED BY LIZ (originally posted on Kindles & Wine Book Blog)
Aylia, the heroine, was the perfect mix of tough and sweet. She's tough because she has to endure a lot of hardship. But one of the best things about Aylia is that she accepts the way things are and finds a way not just to survive but to thrive! She's sweet because even after all the barbaric behavior she's experienced and seen, she still has the capacity and a desire to love and be loved, which was more noticeable after she arrived at the MoonBound Clan. I really enjoyed her bravery, and while she's not a martyr or anything, she does what she thinks is right and accepts the consequences. Of course, Aylia having a conscience just makes her more of a freak to the people in her clan. I was so happy that she found an opportunity to leave them.
Hunter was a very cool alpha male. He's the leader of MoonBound Clan and takes his job very seriously, but he doesn't rule with an iron fist. I have to say, I was very pleased that Hunter spent a good portion of the book running around with his shirt off. It made for excellent visuals. :) Seriously, though, when Hunter and Aylia go on their quest, his bravery (as well as his pecs) is on full display and it's amazing! I loved how protective Hunter is about the people in his clan. When a dangerous mission would present itself, he always made sure that the clan would be ruled by someone as good and decent as him. But I also enjoyed the few instances where Hunter was in a rage-fueled tirade. Having to keep a tight rein on his anger and temper made him a much more interesting character to me.
I didn't love the whole "mistaken identity" part at the start of the book with Aylin and her twin sister, Rasha. And because Aylin and Hunter had fantastic chemistry, I found it difficult to get through the book with Hunter and Rasha's impending mating ceremony hanging over the story. It actually took a lot of my enjoyment out of the book and I found myself skimming a few pages to get past the parts with Rasha.
CHAINED BY NIGHT can be read as a stand-alone story even though this is Book 2 in the series. Although it wasn't my favorite, I love this world that the author has created, where vampires are slaves to humans and free vampires live in small, secret clans. I also love how she's weaved Native American aspects throughout based on her research into her own ancestry. I am eagerly anticipating the next MoonBound book!
BOTTOM LINE:
Although the mistaken-identity trope didn't work for me and I didn't like the mating ceremony being used to hold me captive emotionally, this action-packed entry in Larissa Ione's MoonBound Clan Vampires series was fun to read. A few laughs and some Native American-style folklore will keep readers engaged and on the edge of their seats!
RATING: B+

When I read the first book in this series I remember thinking that it was a good story and the plot of the series was really intriguing, but it left me wanting a bit more. So I was both excited and scared to go into this one. I wanted this one to live up to the potential of this series! But I was scared to have high expectations. I shouldn’t have worried. Larissa made me happy, once again!
Even though this didn’t have the level of sexual intensity, I guess, that I’ve come to expect with Larissa’s stories, that didn’t take away from the fact that these two were hot and sensual together. There’s something about Hunter that even though he’s a vampire it makes me see him as a shifter. There’s a rawness about him. A loyalty to his clan. The power that surrounds his persona. I found him alluring and intoxicating. There’s no need for bad boys when you can get one good to the bone but that will tear to shreds anyone that dares touch what’s his.
When we left off book one, Hunter had agreed to take on a mate from another clan to help rescue one of his own and his mate. Now as he receives his future mate in his home, he realizes he has a deep connection to her twin sister. Good and evil, Rasha and Aylin are polar opposites. One has had everything she’s wanted her whole life, growing up bloodthirsty and with all the power given to her by being the daughter of the head of the clan. But Aylin has only faced hardships. Being born with a disfigurement, and walking with a limp, she’s seen as less than everyone else in her clan, always made aware of her place in the food chain. She’s always known not to wish for things she couldn’t have. But she’s also always had a brave and good heart.
Aylin and Hunter were truly perfect for each other. I loved seeing their attraction grow from an easy friendship to a combustible love. CHAINED BY NIGHT was a sweet and sexy ride, full of action and adventure. The kind that you want to go back to almost as soon as you’ve had to put the book down. The forbidden love story, that shows us that true love can conquer anything and they will face whatever obstacles they have to and be together. This book reminded me why I fell in love with paranormal romance in the first place. Books and stories like this. We don’t need the sex acrobatics or a crazy twist. Just a solid romance that draws on everything alpha about a paranormal hero and takes us on an entertaining ride. And entertained I was. I can’t wait for more from these vampires!

Hunter is set to mate with a rival clan members daughter. He will do it to keep peace and try to keep his clan safe. He has to also break an ancient curse few know about to save his future children. he will need help to do so. Hunter doesn't expect his intended mate to not want to save their future children but her twin steps up to help out. The girls are totally different and this twin cares. Now Hunter not only has to face the challenge but also face the fact he is falling for the twin he can't have. He will face a war if he doesn't mate with the right twin and many of the vampires in his clan may die. He will have to decide what is really important and what is worth the risk.
Hunter is a great leader. He has to make many decisions for the better of the clan that some see as harsh. He has had a bad past and he has made sure to make his clan different from the one he was raised in. He wants his vampires to be happy. I really enjoyed getting to see different sides of him. Rasha is his mate to be and I have to say I hate her so much. She is a truly evil woman who will do whatever to get what she wants and doesn't have any problem using people to get what she wants. She looks down on most and hates the way Hinter does everything. Aylin is Rasha's twin and is for sure the better of the two. She is caring, sweet yet can be tough when it is needed. She has been looked down on and treated horrible her whole life. I was glad to see her come out of her shell with Hunter and his clan. She truly becomes a great woman in a place she can open up in without fear of being hurt.
The first book was wonderful and I couldn't wait to read this one. It did not disappoint me at all. I love getting to see more of the clans and how they each are run. You also see more about how they came to be with Hunter's story. I like how Hunter may seem hard but he is also one who makes sure his vampires have down time to let go. He also makes sure they have training as he knows they have to stay on their toes. There is lots of different kinds of action in this book. From the test he has to face to hunters after the vampires to rival clans. Aylin is a great addition to the story. She is someone always considered weak but she shows just how strong she can be. her and Hunter are a great match even when they know they shouldn't be together. They try to deny what is between them. Rasha I have to say I kept hoping she would get her butt kicked as she clearly needs it. There is plenty of characters I hope to see more of as this is a fantastic series so far. I really can't wait for more. If you are looking for a new amazing paranormal romance series I would say pick this one up.

In order to save a couple of his clan members who were being held and tortured by another clan, Hunter made a deal. Let his members go and in exchange he’d marry the clan chief’s daughter thus uniting the two clans. He’s not thrilled with the arrangement but he knows that being clan chief, he has to do things that he may not like in order to protect his people. Like marrying a rude and vicious vampire names Rasha. However, when Rasha’s bridal party gets ambushed by vampire hunters, Hunter goes off to rescue his soon-to-be bride and her party. He finds out that she’s not as vile as he originally thought. The only problem is, he has the wrong twin, and soon he finds himself in an interesting predicament.
This was a great story. With Hunter being the chief, there is a lot that rests on his shoulders. Non of his clan members are happy about the upcoming mating but they all know that if he doesn’t do it there will be war with the other clan. It doesn’t help that Rasha’s clan are some barbaric people, Rasha included. However, whereas Rasha is vicious and tough, Aylin, her twin sister, is gentle and caring. The birth defect that left her with a twisted leg bone has caused her much pain not only physically but mentally as well. She was brought up as the lowest member of the clan because of it and was cruelly mistreated. Hunter see’s this and immediately has some compassion for her. Which is how they find themselves falling in love.
Not only is this story about Hunter and his upcoming mating but there’s also a little history on how vampires came to be and it all has to do with a demon. This demon makes Hunter go on a quest in hopes of saving his future firstborn child and the quest was definitely an adventure for both the characters and the reader. I liked that the author didn’t just keep the characters in their present time but added an extra element that I wasn’t expecting. The quest that Hunter goes on definitely adds a lot of suspense and depth to the story itself.
This is a great series. I highly enjoyed the first book and this one was no different. Larissa has a great way of making a paranormal romance her own. There was so much going on, so many things that I hadn’t read before that I was glued to my seat all day reading. I literally finished this baby in one day. I can’t wait to see who’s story is next.

This is the second book in the Moonbound Clan series by Larissa Ione. This was an excellent follow up to the first book. I love this series. I could not put this book down.
The three main characters are Hunter the Moonbound Clan chief who is suppose to mate with Rasha daughter of the Shadowspawn clan cheif and her twin sister Alyn who is crippled and promised to a ruthless clan chief to mate with him. But destiny has other plans. Hunter is the strong character he cares for his people and will do what is necessary to protect them, Rasha is the "bitch" of this story and her twin sister and the innocent and lovable character. But as the story progresses Hunter finds that he wants to mate with Alyn not Rasha.
I love how Hunter didn't want Rasha from the start, but when he meets Alyn he wants her more then anything. I love the way that their relationship was so up and down at the beginning. But this story shows how the love of a man and the love of a sister can change everything.
I love this series and I give this book 5 stars and would recommend it. Larissa Ione never disappoints...

To keep his enemies close and to avoid the prospect of war, Hunter has agreed to marry the daughter of a rival clan’s chief. Rasha is the opposite of everything Hunter desires in a mate. Her hatred and bitterness is a reflection of the upbringing she had in her tribe. Rasha has a twin - Aylin. She is the complete opposite of her sister. Born with a deformity, Aylin is considered a ‘freak’ among her tribe. The best chance she has at a future is to be married to a clan leader who is as sadistic as he is brutal.
As an ancient curse looms over his head, Hunter is determined to do everything to change the outcome. To overcome this curse, Hunter must complete 3 separate challenges. Each with a risk upon his life. When Rasha refuses to participate in the challenge, Aylin steps up to help Hunter overcome the odds. The attraction the two feel for one another is magnified during their trials. The duo discover that they cannot ignore what they feel for one another. Can they change their paths and find love? Will their love cause the tribes to head to war?
Chained By Night is a wonderful addition to the Moonbound Clan Vampires series!! The trials that Hunter and Aylin participated in were layered to add to the building romance between the two characters. As a born leader, Hunter’s strength and integrity were evident in the decisions he made on a daily basis. Always putting the needs of his clan above his own personal desires. The disability Aylin possessed added to the strength, kindness, and dedication of her character. I loved the steamy plot twists that were sprinkled throughout the story.
The story plot revolving around Myne was really intriguing! The revelations concerning his history with Rasha and Hunter left me wanting more. Glimpses of the suffering that Myne has endured throughout his life added to the mystery of his character. I cannot wait to see what is in store with the rest of this series!

I loved the first book in MoonBound series and by the end of it I was just dying to know more about Hunter and the deal he made with the leader of ShadowSpawn clan and most important if he will break the ancient curse mentioned in the epilogue. I must admit I’m not a patient person, so the wait seemed very long to me, but, My God, it was worth it. Larissa Ione did not only deliver a book that met my expectations, she delivered a little extra.
She brings a story full of eroticism, romanticism, intrigue and a lot of action. She manages as well to create amazing characters that left me greedy for more information. The main characters are magnificently outlined; they don’t lack the stubbornness, the passion, the wit or the loyalty that matches their personality.
Hunter is the leader of the vampire clan MoonBound and the safety of his clan is entirely up to him and his decisions. He is a rough guy, with a past marked by tragedy and suffering under his father’s leadership. But somehow he managed to become a loyal and strong leader for his people that rules with an iron hand, yet he is loved and respected by all his clan’s members. Every decision he’s ever made was solely for the good of his clan. So, when the opportunity arises and he has the chance to save Nicole, Riker’s mate, he will strike a deal with the enemy clan’s leader to mate with his daughter, Rasha. Only that this deal comes with a price. Every leader who wants to mate must break an ancient curse by passing a set of trials or will lose his first born. He doesn’t take a moment to consider not going, except his future mate, Rasha, refuses on the spot, willing to give up her first born. Yes, she is a heartless bitch, but the motive behind her refusal is not as selfish as it seems, she just can’t travel between portals, because the vortex will kill her. For Hunter, who felt before the sorrow of losing his children, this option is not acceptable. Lucky for him (and Rasha) that Ailyn Redmmon, second-born twin offers to take her sister’s place in the trials.
Being a second-born twin and having a physical flaw like a deformed leg, Ailyn is the kind of woman used to be humiliated and brutalized, used to feeling inferior to all males and every healthy woman in the clan. But she has a warrior spirit and she doesn’t always manage to keep her silence (which brings her to pay the price), but the price sometimes is worth the pain. It was no way that I couldn’t love her character and that brings me to the fact that I just hated Rashas’ character. Ailyn’s soul is so pure and in spite of everything she suffered, when she gives her heart she gives it completely, even knowing that her love can’t have a happy ending. She will give up her dreams and her only chance to a normal life in order to save the man she loves.
“Your dreams of being normal. Of not being considered a curse and a freak.” He cast a glance at her leg. “You will be crippled again.”
Her gut twisted. He wasn’t talking about dreams… he was talking about nightmares. She’d been given a glimpse into what it was like to be healthy and whole, and for twenty-four hours, she’d seen herself living a life of her own choosing. Even if that meant living in the sewers of Seattle and eating rats for dinner, at least she would have been free of the chains that bound her to her father’s will.
But Samnult was asking her to give that up. To be crippled again. Crippled and stuck with Tseeveyo. If she agreed to this, she would be back where she had started, which was basically…screwed. But Hunter would be alive. Ultimately, it wasn’t a choice.
“Do it,” she blurted. “Please.”
Hunter and Ailyn are the perfect couple; they complete each other like ying and yang. They need each other to heal their souls and to fulfill the unspoken desires hidden deep in their hearts. The chemistry between them sparks from the moment they met, even if they mistake their identities at first. Along the way their attraction grows more and more, and even if they are aware that nothing between them will ever be possible, every moment spent together, every kiss and every touch is a treasure to be kept for all the painful and lonely days that the future will bring. With every one of Samnult’s trials passed, Hunter’s feelings for Ailyn changes from admiration, respect, care to something more deep and more vulnerable for his heart than he is willing to admit. He has the chance to watch her transform from the submissive and scared woman he first met into this brave and witty woman, who gives up her dreams.
When they return to their world and each must assume his rightful place and act as if nothing between them ever happen, it becomes more difficult for them to hide their feelings. She cannot bear to see him with her sister:
“Nothing happened, Aylin.”
She should be thrilled, jumping with joy, and a secret, selfish part of her was. But more than that, there was a bleak hopelessness that obliterated her earlier happiness. No one was a winner here. Not even Rasha. In a small way, Aylin could empathize with her sister, because she knew how it felt not to be wanted.
You don’t owe me an explanation.” She squared her shoulders. “Maybe something should happen. It’s going to, eventually. You might as well get it over with.”
“I don’t want her.”
“Then do something about it.”
He took a deep, shuddering breath. “You know I can’t.”
Yes, she did, and it had been a s*** thing to say. Still, her eyes stung as she swung around to him. “Then leave me alone. Please. It hurts too much to be near you. Go screw my sister, or don’t. But don’t come near me again..”
and he cannot accept that any other male will ever touch her.
“You have to try. Aylin is lost to you. She’ll be with someone else shortly, if she’s not already. He straightened with a snarl. Made a mental note to tell Riker never to reveal the name of the male who spent the night with Aylin. As much as Hunter would like to say he could be objective and logical… yeah, when it came to Aylin, his civil side was pretty much nonexistent.”
A series of events will force Hunter to choose between his heart and his duty. It seemed to me, and even to Samnult, the demon who made them pass the trials, that he had only one logical choice to make, but it sure took him some time to make it.
“I can’t lose you. I love you, Aylin. Samnult is a bastard, but he was right about one thing.” Dipping his head, he brushed his lips over hers.
“I chose wisely.”
Yes, he had.
They both had.”
I couldn’t agree more!!!!!!!!
A perfect happy ending for a perfect story. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite paranormal books. I can’t wait to read the stories of Myne, Jaggar and Baddon. I highly recommend this series.

I was looking forward to reading CHAINED BY NIGHT after reading BOUND BY NIGHT, the first in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was excited to read Hunter’s story and see the evolution of the complex mythology the author has painstakingly created. Hunter agreed to take Rasha, the heir to the ShadowSpawn clan, as his mate after the events in BOUND BY NIGHT. Rasha and her twin sister, Aylin, come to MoonBound but are attacked on the way. Hunter first mistakes Aylin for Rasha when they’re rescued, but then it becomes easy to tell them apart. Aylin is kind, humble, and been horribly abused by her clan while Rasha is cruel, rude, and sadistic. Hunter finds himself drawn to Aylin, even with his promised betrothal and mating upcoming. When a demon requires Hunter to go through a quest with his mate in order to save his first born child, Rasha refuses, but Aylin steps up and takes her place. CHAINED BY NIGHT is a solid novel which adds a lot to the world of the MoonBound Clan Vampire series. I enjoyed the characters, especially Aylin, who turned out to be so much more than anyone ever thought. I am looking forward to delving deeper into this world in the future.

Larissa Ione never disappoints me, CHAINED BY NIGHT is a great follow-up to BOUND BY NIGHT. This sophomore novel in the MoonBound Clan Vampires series has a great hero and heroine.
If I didn’t need to eat, clean house, occasionally talk to my family and sleep, I could have read CHAINED BY NIGHT in one sitting. It was that good and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I’m guessing either Myne or Baddon will get their story next since they both have issues with women. It will be fun to watch either of these males find a mate.
Recommended for romance readers that lust after tall, dark alphas that know how to unwind while playing video games and watching Monty Python movies when he’s not running in the woods in nothing but a tiny loth cloth (or naked).

I was immediately drawn into this storyline. When I finished the first book in this series, I was really intrigued by Hunter. He continued to capture my attention throughout this book. I really liked the different approach to the heroine- Aylin. Their relationship was a twist on the unlikely match, which is a favorite trope of mine. Reading about the quest kept me glued to my kindle. I loved the mythology woven in with action and romance. This was one of those unique paranormals that will stand out in my head for a long time. I'm eager to read the long-awaited third book in the series.

Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #1) was my first foray into the writing of Larissa Ione. I was familiar with a few of her other established works (Demonica and Lords of Deliverance to be exact), but this series was attractive since I could start from the top and not get too behind. I enjoyed the first one more than I was expecting to so I was really looking forward to this one. Overall this was another entertaining entry, but I did miss some of the wit and humor found in the first one. This was more angsty for sure.
We learn more about Hunter's character as he takes center stage, but Ryker and Nicole are still integral characters to this plot. I wasn't totally sure how I was going to feel about the twin sister fiasco. It sounded too much like a text book soap opera storyline, but it wasn't so bad. It's still not my favorite way to go about things, but it didn't ruin the story. There was this one scene that totally reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and I found it thoroughly enjoyable (it's one of my top 3 Disney films if you didn't know that about me ~_^). I found some side characters a bit more interesting than the main couple, but the good thing about these books is that those characters will get central focus in future entries. Ione has certainly piqued my interest there. So with that said I am looking forward to the next one. I wish these were published twice a year instead of once. Overall the world is pretty interesting and there's still a lot more to explore when it comes to the the dynamics between humans and vampires.

First Line In a secret club blaring rock music and laughter, raised shot glasses brimming with whiskey clinked together like death knells.
As I mentioned in my review of Bound by Night, I was anxious to read clan leader Hunter's story. Given that he is burdened by life as a ruler, and that he's set to mate with a woman he despises, I expected a lot of angst on his part, and there was. I liked Chained by Night, but I've found that by the time I finished it, I was ready to be. I left the story feeling that I was okay with the story, really liked some moments, and in the end, it was a good enough read.
What I liked about Chained by Night was the forbidden relationship between Hunter and Aylin. It doesn't get much more complicated than falling for your intended mate's twin, right? Right. It doesn't matter that Hunter needs the mating to go off to keep peace among the vampire clans. And it doesn't matter that Aylin has been promised to another clan leader, no matter how brutal he's rumored to be. The two have fantastic chemistry, with a lot of passion and understanding between them. The heart wants what it wants, and no matter how much they fight it, Hunter's and Aylin's choose each other.
I also like the quest that truly brings Hunter and Aylin together, and the premise behind it. In an effort to save Hunter's future firstborn child, he and Aylin must complete several tasks set in place by the demon who created the vampires. Oh, and there's the pesky detail that the two have to be naked and feeding off one another to get in and out of that realm. Not at all convenient to putting these two together, huh?
That convenience leads me to the couple of issues I had with the book. The many conveniences that come their way. Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but the fact that whatever it is these two need just happens to be handy, or that they suddenly develop the ability, annoyed me. They need a way out? Oh! Aylin can create portals! Like I said, I'm nitpicky. There was also the fact that the bad guys - Aylin's father, her twin, and another leader, were all so "bad" that they came across as caricatures. I like my baddies to by sly and slick, truly chilling. But these are personal preferences.
So overall, this seems to have had a lukewarm tone, which, yeah, I guess that is exactly how I felt about Chained by Night. I liked the two main characters, still enjoy the world Ione has created, and I liked the passionate chemistry. I didn't love the obstacles, and how easily some were overcome, and the action sequences sometimes felt overwhelming. I am curious to see if clan member Myne gets a story. I have a feeling his will be very interesting.

My Thoughts:
Larissa Ione sure can write Urban Fantasy! The MoonBound Series just keeps getting better and better. If you are like me and love the Native American culture, and folklore, as well as vampire stories; you will love this series! All of the characters are three-dimensional, unique, realistic, and very memorable. In Bound By Night, we got Riker and Nicole's story, and while I loved their story, Chained By Night was even more amazing!!!
In Chained By Night, we get the sexy, handsome, protective, and loyal MoonBound Chief, Hunter's story. He is to be wed to Rasha, the Shadowspawn tribe's chief's daughter. The only reason he is marrying her is to bring peace between the two clans. However, when he meets Rasha's identical twin sister, Aylin, sparks fly. Rasha and Aylin are as opposite as night and day. Rasha is selfish, blood thirsty, controlling, and an egomaniac. She is also manipulative, and has no scruples. Aylin is caring, compassionate, lovable, sweet, and yet strong and courageous. Aylin is loved by everyone. When Hunter is tasked with entering trials in order to not lose his first born child to a demon, Rasha refuses to go with him. Aylin jumps in and offers to accompany's him in Rasha's place. At the same time poachers are becoming a huge problem as they kill or send vampire's in to slavery for large sums of money. As Hunter and Aylin are thrown in to peril at every turn, they get to know each other on a deep level, bond, and fall in love. However, if Hunter takes Aylin over Rasha, he risks war with Shadowspawn (Aylin and Rasha's tribe,) as well as Nightshade, where the chief is promised to Aylin. What will hunter do; lose the love of his live or risk his clan members?
If you can't tell; I loved Chained by Night!!! The story was extremely fast-paced, suspenseful, addictive, and I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Aylin and Hunter built and built until it was palpable! I would love to get more of the character's stories, and am hoping we get Myne's next. He is a character that has pulled on my heartstrings. He's been through so much pain, and I would love to see him find a worthy mate, and his "happily ever after."
My Rating:
I give, Chained by Night, by Larissa Ione, 5 Heart Pounding, Pulse Skipping, Sensual, Seductive, and Addictive Stars!!! If you love Urban Fantasy, Vampire's, and Native American Folklore, the MounBound Clan Vampire Series is sure to become one of your favorites!

CHAINED BY NIGHT is the second book in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series by Larissa Ione. It follows the romance between the MoonBound leader Hunter and the daughter of a rival clan's leader, Ailyn. We met them both in BOUND BY NIGHT, so we know a little bit about them and why they're thrown together in book 2 before jumping in, so if you have not already read book 1, I would do so.
Ailyn has been treated like trash and told she was weak and useless for as long as she remembers. She has been 'sold' by her father to a horrible leader that has multiple mates and a taste for very young girls. She has big dreams of escaping the life that awaits her but before that can happen she must accompany her twin sister Rasha who is to be mated to Hunter. I won't rehash the whole situation that brought along the need for Hunter to mate with Rasha, but he in no way wants this match. He's willing to take one for the team (meaning the good of his clan).
The attraction between Ailyn and Hunter is apparent from the time they meet. They both know nothing can happen between them but circumstances make it very hard to stay away from each other. I enjoyed watching them fall in love and overcome pretty dire situations.
There are a lot of surprises in CHAINED BY NIGHT. There seems to be a lot of misconceptions involving just about everyone in the book. You will learn something new about both the main characters and quite a few supporting ones by the end.
In case you're wondering, we do get to see Nicole and Riker in CHAINED BY NIGHT. Not a lot of time has passed since BOUND BY NIGHT, so Nicole is still newly pregnant and working on a way to make it safer to deliver their baby. I have a feeling I know who will be the next couple in book 3 but I won't reveal who. I wouldn't want to give anything away before you read book 2. I am very interested to see now their relationship would come together though, so I am excited to see if my feelings are right.

I sucked down (pun intended) the first book and couldn't wait to read this one. I loved book 2 even more than the first. Hunter & Aylin's chemistry was amazing. From their first interaction I was eager to read more scenes with them. While Rasha on the other hand... well lets just say if I had a list of characters I'd like to smack, Rasha would be at the top of the list. Larissa Ione is a master of seduction. She pulls you in and does not let go. This series/book is definitely a must. I know some might think that vampire books and paranormal romances are dying or dead, but I tell you the genre is alive and well!

This was on my to-read list for such a long time, I forgot what it was about. When I re-read the synopsis, and the reviews, I was like oh no! But I marched on. And my final verdict is that I am pretty much indifferent to this book. Hunter was an ok character. There wasn't anything really special about him. Except when he did the whole "mine" thing, which I love on a book. I liked the strength of Aylin, though I hate how her twin, and the tales of how her tribe treated her. The plot was ok. The trials they had to go through were pretty interesting. I didn't like the whole to-be mated to another thing, even though that was the plot of the book. Still going to read the next one though, because I generally like this author.

I have read other books by this author but this is the first book I have read of the Moonbound Clan Vampire books. I have to say that this is how I like my vampires...tall, dark, sexy, a great lover, and protector. Just like Hunter. Even Hunter's name is a good one. Aylin is a excellent companion to Hunter. She is strong and very likable. Together, these two were hot together. Like if it was winter, there would be no snow as they would have melted it. Plus the story line for this book was a nice one as well. It was not just your typical vampires fall in love or even vampires against vampire hunters. It has depth. Also, there is a happy ending. After reading this book, I now plan to go back and read book one, Bound By Night.

Chained By Night (Moonbound Clan Book 2) Larissa Ione
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
I love Larissa’s writing style. There are books that are good but simple reads, then there are authors like Larissa, who consistently produce works which have multi stranded plots, and are so much more than a simple, easy read. Even though this series contains several linked plots, this book, and book one, are both well written and all plot openings dealt with. I hate when a plot is opened but left, and I’m wondering “ what happened there??” Its one of my pet hates and that's never happened to me in Larissa’s books, both this series or others of hers I’ve read.
So, we pick up where the last book left off with Hunter having reluctantly agreed to Mate Rasha. We met her and her twin Aylin in the last book and its a true Evil and Good twin – of course poor Hunter is facing a lifetime with the evil twin. Its not til they come to Moonbound though that he realises just how different they are, and just how like his father Kars of the Shadowspawn clan their father – is. Cruel and oafish, and Rasha truly is her fathers daughter. Hunter dislikes her more the more he gets to know her, and yet her twin has a pull for him he’s finding it hard to resist. Poor Hunter – what a terrible problem. He’s such a true leader, ready to sacrifice himself for the good of the clan but events overtake him....
Alongside that problem he also needs to undergo some deadly tests in another world, and fight off a war with not just Shadowspawn but another clan. Then there’s the humans who are stepping up their killings of vampire,s and have plans to rid the world of them. Along with that we can’t forget the vampires old arch enemy Daedelous, the company that controls and runs vampire slavery and uses them for horrific secret experiments – oh and there’s a possible mole in the clan.
Its got a great mix of characters, some we can look up to such as Hunter and his top people, some real cruel and complex characters we can love to hate and some that are frankly still a bit of a mystery such as Myne. There’s something about him, the more we learn of his past the less we really know of him it seems to me....I really enjoyed getting to know Aylin better, she intrigued me from the last book. The plots are a great mix of new(ish) ones and the overall story arc of the vampire/demon mystery that runs through the series. Clearly there’s a big battle to come from the hints dropped in this book, and personally I think it’ll be vampires v humans but...it could be vampires v other vampires, or other demons perhaps? or maybe Daedelous will pick up the action – a huge money making corporation doesn't want to lose its income source without a fight. That’s what I love, pondering what will happen while getting my romance fix too! Once again its a novel packed with all action as usual, but perfectly worked out and seamlessly knitted into a book that hard to put down and along with the first will join my keepers file.
Stars: Full Five, a great and satisfying read.

Chained by Night is the second book in Larissa Ione's brilliant MoonBound Clan Vampires series and was even better than the first book. That's saying something considering the fact that Bound by Night was a five-star read as well.
What makes Larissa Ione such a brilliant author? It's all about the mythology and world building. Yes, the character development is great and she doesn't skimp on the smexiness, but what makes her an auto-buy author for me is the world building and mythology. I read a lot and will tell you than no one does world building the way Ms. Ione does. No one. The woman is bloody brilliant and I can't wait to see what happens next in this world.

Let's see... where do I start? I only know that for all I could remember, this could be the only book, that gave me goosebumps when I received it, ever. I was soooo thrilled.
HUNTER:
As you can read from the synopsis, Hunter is a leader vampire clan who has to mate to his rival clan leader's daughter as part of the deal to save his clans member (read book 1, Bound by Night). It's also part of a plan for vampires to join forces against humans. Hunter despises his rival, and the daughter, Rasha, as well, but the clan safety comes first.
On the day of his mate arrival, vampire-hunter humans strikes and captures Aylin, Rasha's identical twin, who comes along with Rasha as a company. First, Hunter mistakenly her as Rasha, but soon finds out about the truth, and it only makes him longing her for more.
AYLIN (and Rasha)
Rasha and Aylin are total opposite. A bit cliche I guess because you can easily hate the other and feel sympathy to another. While Rasha is tough, hard and seductive (and selfish in my opinion), Aylin is a caring and loving second-born daughter with deformed leg who's being treated badly as if she was the lowest creature and held no meaning in her clan. As a vampire, she has to drink from a male and feed a male also. But there are only unwilling male to give her blood and she never feeds any male in her life because people in her clan believe that she's cursed. While Rasha is bound to mate with Hunter, Aylin is going to be mated with another clan leader, only the worse, maybe the worst. But first, she must accompanies her sister and act as a decoy, just in case if something went wrong.
I loved Hunter, I mean, really, who can resist a tall, dark, tough, caring alpha male lore? But as much as I loved Hunter--I really thought I would fall head over heels on him when I finished reading book one, I loved Aylin even more! I really think she shun over him. She's not perfect, but that made her so perfect. She's tough, caring, with an ability which I thought much better and superior to Hunter's. :D There were many parts of her life, including when it came to telling about the clan leader she's planned to mate to, that made me cringed! No wonder she would rather be dead. There were also parts which involving Hunter, the chemistry between them, and the feeling (and the lust) she had for Hunter, that made me feel like shouting to her, "You go, girl!" or "Come one, you obviously CAN live without him!". Hahahaha...
Reading this book, I was hooked, sucked, and fell deeper. I felt like riding a roller coaster for there were up and down moments. Yes, of course, there were moments that got me a bit disappointed, despising, and eew-ing, parts when I thought it's not like I expect. Like I wonder why the author chose that way as a mean for Hunter and Aylin to pass the portal. It felt... weird and... cheap. But only for the first time when they had to enter the other world. I didn't feel that way on the second time when they had to go back to their real world, because it's more...accepted, understandable, considering that Hunter's feeling for Aylin grew more and more. But then I realize I really didn't know what I expect. I only knew I just can't put down the book. After going through half book, things were getting more interesting. The pace, the action, the conflict, the adventure, the chemistry, made me feel like I was watching those Hollywood adventure, colossal, action, fairy tale, paranormal, with romance and erotic sparks, all in one.
I saw more and more stories behind the story. Another conflicts, problems, relationships were about to reveal, and this is why I couldn't wait to read more about the series. More about Myne, more about Rasha, more about the clan (and other clans as well). I loved that Riker and Nicole showed up quite often in this book. I loved how that Braddon didn't really scare to Hunter though he's a clan leader. Because this way, I can see how the members of the clan see each other to be equal with respect, something that didn't available inside Aylin's clan.
I still think that I don't give the book enough justice for I'm not sure I can express how I feel about this book. This is one of the moment when I dread my ability in written English. -_-
In a very short, I found it to be adventurous, with lots of actions, steamy, and addictive! I really can't wait to read the next book(s)! And I'm not even a paranormal romance fan! XD
This book is part of a must have series. It's a standalone read, but I really suggest you read the first book, Bound by Night, so that you can get a better picture about what was actually going on in that world, especially conflict between humans and vampires, and between clans. When I read this book, I had to check few things from the first book to freshen up my memory a get a better grasp since there's a year time gap between book 1 and book 2.

Larrissa Ione has gone and made book two in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series EVEN BETTER than the first (Bound By Night)! I simply adore this world Ione has created. Believe it or not, I read it in one day. I thought I would sip some coffee on a Sunday morning and begin what would take me a week to read. Nope it was Sunday night and I looked up to see a hungry family and darkness creeping in the windows. I had spent the entire day with Hunter and Aylin.
So let’s begin. Hunter is seething with the knowledge that he must marry the daughter of his enemy, Rasha. It is a move for peace and he would do anything to keep his clan and their way of life safe. Not many agree with his choice to let his clan be free and make choices for themselves. Hunter is also contending with the threat of the human hunters who want them dead, tortured and sold.
Aylin is the twin of Rasha. Second born and therefore a throw away in the eyes of her clan. Born with a deformity, she is labeled cursed and not fit for anyone to feed from. Their father has sent Aylin along with Rasha as they travel to met Hunter. Only Aylin is being used as a decoy in case they are ambushed.
What culminates next is a journey more for Aylin to figure out for herself that she has worth. She is worthy of kindness, duty, respect, honor, and yes, love. Nothing proves that more than when, in an attempt to make up for her sisters’ selfish behavior, Aylin faces the tests of the crossroads demon Samnult.
Bound In Night is a vampire sexy, action filled exciting adventure. OH! And the side characters have me chomping at the neck for future books in the series!
5 Neck biting stars!

Wow! I really enjoyed the first book in the series, BOUND by NIGHT, but I loved this one! Hunter is one hot alpha male and Aylin is a remarkable, strong heroine with spunk and sass. I was rooting for them from the beginning. Ms. Ione’s take on the vampire genre is intriguing and unique, her world-building fantastic, and her characters have depth and … well, character! Great read!
Focused. Strong. True.

This was everything I expected from Hunter and more! Too bad neither men or Leaders like this exist in the real world, it would definitely be a better place. The story just grabs you in from page one and it's nearly impossible to put down. I cannot wait to read more about the Moonbound Clan. Larissa has introduced more Clans and really leads you to believe that this is just the beginning of an incredible journey she'll be taking us on with this new series. I CANNOT WAIT for the next book!

I read book 1 of this new series Bound by Night (The Moonbound Clan Vampires Book 1) and while I totally enjoyed it, I could put it down to do real life things. This second book was a surprise in that while it seemed to be following the first book in pacing and such, I was addicted to this story and almost wanted to skip to the last chapter to see where it would go (NO I did not, that would be a self inflicted wound).
You can't help but be pulled into this story of conflict between love for a woman he can't have and a responsibility that he cannot put aside. Hunter has accepted a contract to marry the daughter of a neighboring tribe to prevent war, the problem arises when he meets his betrothed's twin sister, make the promised bride the poster child for Bridezilla and the twin he falls for is just short of Joan of Arc and you have an emotional romance that seemingly has no possibility of a future. Lesser authors would have screamed in frustration since this is the essence of writing yourself into a corner but Ms Ione has been doing this for awhile and her creativeness never ceases to astound me and this is no exception.
Throw in a demon whose motives are suspect at best and a trial that will decide the future of Hunter's children and you have added even more depth to this story. Folks this is great stuff. I always thought that the Demonica series of hers was oversexed and really overshadowed her stories but this has an almost perfect mix IMHO and the story really shines through.
All of the above and a lot of clan politics and back stories make this a 4 Star reading but what pulled it into 5 Star territory is when the book was finished I was not finished wanting to read more about these people. Very few books end in such a way that I am not left with a cliffhanger but a real sadness that the book is over and I have to wait until the next book to re-enter this amazing world which I keep thinking is a bit depressing only to find that these people's life on the edge is addicting. You get so deeply involved in these people's lives you want it to just keep on going.
Bottom Line: 5 Stars and I really hated to see it end, she gives us a teaser of who the next couple will most likely be and once again the very idea is exciting to me, I can't wait.

I cannot begin to say how much I loved Book 2 in the series. I have read all of Larissa Ione's books and this one is shaping up to be another great series. From Native American legends to demon's to humans and vampires on the hunt, this one has it all. The conflict seems insurmountable, but it all works out to an HEA in the end!

Review:
First let me say, Thank You, Thank You to Melissa for gifting me a copy of this for a fair and honest review. I was so excited when I got my galley copy that I sat down that night to read it!
This series, keeps getting better and better. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but this second book is so much better. I found the first book mostly a world building story, at least to me. This book for me was more character driven and I could not put it down.
Loved, loved, loved Ailyn! Even though she has a handicap she is a strong female and a perfect mate for Hunter. Ailyn has had a sucky life all because of her deformity, but she tries her best to make a bad situation better. She goes through the tests with Hunter even though her sister is meant to be with Hunter and she has her handicap. Hunter is just yum! He is a strong and capable leader who puts his pack before himself. The chemistry between Ailyn and Hunter is so off the charts, that they have to be together.
The story is filled with action and nail-biting moments. The part of the story where they are trying to complete the tests had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the mix of Native American folklore and vampires to get this unique world that the Author has given us. There are some plot twists and revelations about characters that gives us some insight characters and some wow moments. And no, I am not giving those away.
When is the next book? I cannot wait!

Hate to say it but this one was better then the first, the first was very good but this has so much going on, talk about emotions between the two main characters. I hope there will be more of this series. Like all Larrisa's other books this will keep you guessing at every page

This paranormal romance is fab. Must read Book 1 before reading this book. Best if read right after reading Book 1. The hero & heroine are a perfect match - loved the teamwork. Supporting characters great. Exciting but action didn't obscure romance. http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=46951
Please RateChained by Night (The Moonbound Clan Vampires Book 2)
It started well enough, but then it veered off to a place where trite and tired plots live. Ugh.
I think this series is better forgotten. And I'm sad for it, cause I did enjoy The Horsemen series a lot.
To you all out there, go read Larissa's other books, is a much better investment.
