This book, along with her YouTube videos, is fantastic! I knew absolutely nothing when I ordered her book and I am working on my first blanket now. It gives so much more needed information than just how to knit. Couldn't be happier with this book.

I could already crochet, have been for about three years, but wanted to learn how to knit. I was able to figure out the basics from YouTube videos (knit, purl, casting on, casting off) but this book is incredible. Looooove the section on fixing your screwups, and love the candid tone of the book. A must-have for any knitter.

This book moved me from a straight garter stitch scarf maker only, to an avid knitter, capable of following many patterns and techniques. The information is presented in an easy to follow way, and I continue to use it as a reference. Have bought a few for friends as well.

I definitely recommend this book for other beginning knitters. I went in with basically no knowledge, and I've been able to follow the guides quite easily between the descriptions and visual aids. I'd say that a combination of this book and a more experienced knitter to consult as needed on anything tricky would be more than enough to get started.

I love that this book gives recommendations for what supplies to get, as well, including needle sizes and materials.

Ordered the book and received in just a couple days. The book was in great shape and I am enjoying reading it. It is written so anyone can understand. I am looking forward to making the project in this book and learning more about knitting.

The instructions were easy to follow and understand and the accompanying pictures helped very much. I would highly recommend it especially for new knitters. I've knitted for years but find some of the techniques in this book very interesting and helpful.

I've enjoyed this book. There are lots of things I've learned. Still, the best method FOR ME is seeing. I'm a visual learner. You tube videos are another great way to learn to knit

The diagrams in this book are really clear. There are also a lot of more advanced patterns and directions that I am NOT interested in and could do without. But I do have certain pages marked that I refer back to on a regular basis

Funny anecdotes; great projects for beginners - a few more challenging for the intermediate knitter. If you want to learn to knit, this is a great book for you. If you already know how to knit, you may learn some new techniques reading through - worth a look.

I really enjoyed this book, I've been knitting and learning on my own and it really helped with some of the questions I had. It has great references and goes in detail of how to do certain things like different cast ons and offs, inc., dec., stripes, intarsia etc. etc. I even got the hang of both styles of knitting from this book which was great!
The author has a great personality, every book I have of hers makes me laugh which is great because I have problems staying focused on dull subjects. She makes learning fun and easy.

Nice book but wish more stylish yarn was used like in the Julie Carles book. STill this is good for the beginning knitter and it is very personalized and explains more than you want to know about yarn and knitting.

This book is amazing! She explains everything in easy to understand language and has pictures as well. Before this book I thought I'd be stuck with the knit stitch and scarves forever. I've since made a baby blanket, cowl and a few hats. I loved the book so much I bought a copy for my friend who is also a beginning knitter.

I started knitting about 6 months ago, and have either bought or read loads of books, but I stopped looking after I got this one.

The directions are the best and easiest to follow, the illustrations actually show the steps that you need to see on the different stitches and techniques, and the writting style keeps it all interesting. The details given for the various types of finishing work make this a book that I keep by my side as I work on my projects!

I really recommend this to both beginner and experienced knitters who might need a quick reference. The patterns included are great, too!

I've been away from knitting for about 15 years...and, this is the PERFECT book to inspire me.

I loved the explanation of the instructions for each item. I loved the humor. And, I loved the patterns! My first project will be the Big Sack Sweater because I LOVE roll collars.

This book would be a sweet addition to any knitter's library.

It's fun and informative. A friend of mine suggested I buy this book, she has the crochet version and loves it. Stoller speaks from someone who's actually done the work and enjoys the whole process socially in what is usually a solitary hobby. Suggest several ways of performing the next logical step in learning AND has interesting patterns included.

This book is so simple and straight forward. Be sure to read from cover to cover as it will teach you how to knit along with how to identify and correct your mistakes, but the author adds homor to it all.

I bought this book after seeing it called "essential" by many online knitting tutorials. It was okay but certainly not essential. I still had many questions about how to knit after I was done. The patterns seem nice and you can never have enough. All in all, a good knitting primer but not a great one.

This book is so very helpful for beginners, and there are so many different things to learn. Even intermediate and advanced knitters can use this book for the patterns or design stitches. I really recommend this for anyone starting off or looking for some cute cute CUTE patterns! :)

I bought this book after reading all the stellar reviews posted here. As a fairly new knitter, I learned just about a year before I purchased this, I thought I could pick up some good information from this. Maybe my skills are more advanced than I thought, because this seemed too basic. None of the projects really jumped out and said, "Knit ME!" Some where for a much younger crowd, (I just turned 30 this year, so I'm not quite a grandma yet!), and were not at all what I was expecting.

I have since lent it out to a younger cousin who is just beginning to knit, and is full of questions. Hopefully she'll get my money's worth out of this book, as I surely didn't.
