Unbound by Cat Miller. I finished reading this book and had to take time to process all the emotions that this pulled from me. This is so well written and the characters so fully fleshed out it is hard to believe they are not real people. Danielle Vaughn struggles with her new found identity and powers. She is hurt by lies told by her mother to keep her safe. Chase Diedrick is of the Elite Class of Vampires and he is so drawn to Danielle you could say he becomes a stalker. As the story progresses you are introduced to more and more characters that you become very attached to and worry about. There were several times that the story brought tears to my eyes because you can relate to the pain of the character. A beautiful story and wonderful writing. Get the book!

The story moved okay at the beginning and the premise of a half-breed human/vampire was different. Then things bogged down into a sophmoric and painful series of coming-of-age vampire relationship gobblygook that had me skipping pages looking for the good stuff. I really tried but the story slowed to a crawl until I gave up. Good idea, bad execution. Maybe next time.

I initially downloaded this book when it was on a free weekend. It was about vampires, so I figured, "Why not?". I was not expecting to like it so much! The story grabbed me from the beginning and took me on the adventures of Dani as she discovered her heritage as a half vampire. While this book is no longer on a free weekend, I can honestly say it was worth full price. I am looking forward to reading book two, which recently was put up on the store (and I am sure everywhere else).
I'll tell you what I liked about this book:
* This book grabbed me from the beginning and I did not want to put it down.
* The story of Dani's parents was interwoven throughout the whole book. It was not an "add on" to make a premise. I am optimistic that we will see more from them in the next book.
* Watching the story of Dani as she grew into who she could be was, while painful at times because she did some really dumb things, so interesting and authentic. You really felt like you knew why she was doing what she was doing.
* I loved seeing how the social structure of her father's society impacted all aspects of this story. I am really looking forward to seeing re of it in the next book.
* The mystery was well developed. I am looking forward to seeing how it is resolved as the series continues.
* As a first book in a series, it did what it needed to do. It introduced us to many characters who we want to learn more about. it introduced us to a new world, while leaving parts of it to be explored. It answered many questions, while presenting new ones. I am excited to see where this story goes.
All in all, I really enjoyed this read. It was a bit different from the typical vampire tales. It had romance, adventure, mystery, and family drama. I am excited that book two is already out!

An entertaining story that grabbed my interest with the story of forbidden love between Tessa and Griffin. Then it shifted ahead twenty years. I was disappointed and actually scanned ahead to look for the characters that had drawn me into the story.
Okay, so I get over it and read on. The story is fast paced and soon I'm interested how this will all work out.
*** Spoiler Alert***
The story had many twists which kept it moving. But then there are problems that pull me out of the story, such as, the heroine has powers that she uses sometimes but not when it would save her from capture. Oh and by the way, we release the person who admits to working with the killer because he didn't kill this time.
Maybe, I was expecting too much because it was an interesting story but it seemed a bit too contrived. Maybe she should have had fewer powers earlier in the story. The ending left me feeling disappointed and not sure I care to spend anymore time with this story.

And I thought I couldnt find something I liked better than Twilight!!! This book was awesome. I so did not know what to expect and this book certainly delivered! Excellent plot and characters, twist and turns kept me on the edge of my seat ready for more. I was sad to see that I had reached the last page of the book and I CAN NOT wait for the next to see what happens with all the characters! This is a must read!!

I was slightly surprised with this book, first I am not a fan of YA, but Unbound was worth the almost sleepless night as I did not put down the book until I reached the last page.
The story is packed with action and plenty of emotion going round. Well worth the read and despite the age group of the characters, this is not a YA.
I am looking forward to the next book.

When I first started reading this book I couldn't put it down, it had me so engrossed I just wanted to know what happened next. About half way through it became long winded and I was tired of reading about certain things, I actually skipped pages because it was so overplayed. Let me add that I do not like skipping pages but needed to in this book just to make sure I didn't get bored on an over written scene. I loved the story and the characters as a whole, there were just pieces that didn't need to be in there. I hope the next book stays focused better because it really is an amazing story.

I just finished this book and while initially I thought it might be interesting it didn't take long for the story to turn into one big vampire story cliche. I just don't understand what all the good reviews are about. The heroine, Dani, is bouncing around between so many men it's just annoying after a while. All these men tend to fall down on their knees or sob, tears flowing just about every other page of the book. Meanwhile, Dani is busy looking fragile and beat up, or missing yet again because she ran away. I give it 2 stars because it does manage to tell a story and is grammatically correct in most places. I advise the reader beware this book and find something else.

"Unbound" kept me from getting sleep and doing laundry. I simply couldn't put it down. I immediately adored Danielle and felt like I was right there with her every step of the way as she discovered college, love, and a deep, dark family secret. She's a sympathetic character whose company you will enjoy keeping throughout the book. Danielle will never let you down, even though she never stops questioning herself, her beliefs, and her choices. This causes her pain, surprise, and sometimes even bliss. She's strong beyond her wildest dreams, and with that new-found strength comes accountability she never bargained for, and may not survive. The love connection between Danielle and Chase is simultaneously agonizing and amazing. You won't want to miss it.
Unbound is not a book you set aside easily; there is never a dull moment, a useless scene, or a single plot-blah. The story tackles issues like prejudice, hierarchies, and trying to fit in when you don't belong anywhere. It's about vampires, but it's also about the moments in our own lives when we felt vulnerable, alone, and maybe even a little "freakish".

This book draws you into the story very quickly. I was hooked after the first paragraph. The characters and storyline are captivating. It's the kind of book you find difficult to put down. I would highly recommend it to the 18 year old and above readers. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in this series.

Normally I reserve the opening part of a negative book review to speak about how I appreciate the hard work of authors and the hard work and dedication they put into making a book for us readers.
Cat Miller, I'm sorry, but I really just can't appreciate even the effort you put in. This is just a trashy romance book trying to capitalize on Twilight fever.

While I appreciate Cat Miller's attempt at keeping things lively with many things going on at once the book was very hard to get immersed in. Danielle (Soleil) can't make a decision and stick with it to literally save her life, lies when she doesn't have to and she comes off so desperate to have sex and a boyfriend that it boardlines having co-dependency issues of the worst sort. All of the male leads are supposed to be big touch manly men but come off as having too much emotion, they cry more than she does. I do not plan to read any more of the books.

I picked this story up on the store, after following a link on facebook. It was free so I figured 'Why not?' By the time I was a quarter of the way through, I knew this was a series that I'd never forget! I read a LOT! I'm talking a solid 4-5 novels per week and that's a lot considering my role as wife, full-time mother to three children and a working nurse. This story is like no other I've ever read! Sure, Ive fallen head over heals in love with many a paranormal romance before... but this is something entirely different! It's like reading ten novels in one! Many stories have what would ultimately be the perfect love story except for all those pesky dilemmas and problems that come up at the half way mark. Then, you're left reading just to see how said conflict is resolved so that the characters can finally have their happily ever after. Cat Miller went against the grain on this one and knocked it out of the park! Just as I'm being drawn into one story-line with our main character Dani, the scenery changes and I cant wrap my mind around it and it's sheer awesomeness! Yes, this book has me speaking like a teenager but believe me, it is for anything but! Our characters are not only dealing with the drama of a long hidden secret of vampirism, secret societies, love triangles (or whatever the word for a six-way love triangle is), society class structures, but they also have what's likely the hardest of all to deal with... growing up, coming into the adult world of serious commitments, college, the loss of innocence (virginity included) and everything else that comes with the transition into adulthood. I'm especially fond of the way the author allows the characters to "play the field". This is quite a rarity in a romance novel, but it allowed me to see the characters as more than wonderful works of fiction. I was able to truly relate to them, and become emotionally invested. It just felt so real to me at some points that I found tears falling from my face, and literally laughed out loud! Subsequently, I was sitting in a doctors office waiting room with my trusty e-reader in hand when one of these emotional outbursts overtook me. Boy, was my face red! In moments of what Catt Miller calls "sensual romance", she describe in detail the passion that has built in the story. She graphically describes these moments of passion, but in a way that leaves you heated, but not feeling 'dirty'. (Unless of course you're in a medical reception room when reading it... then, you just feel like everybody in the room KNOWS you just read about someones blouse being removed). These moments are completely essential to the story-line and in NO WAY would I ever consider it smut or think of this tale as pornographic. This story kept me awake until the sun came up, feverishly turning the pages, unable to put it down even for a few hours of much needed rest. I feel very blessed to have stumbled upon this tale and am eagerly awaiting the release of the next chapter! If you wish to follow my other reviews and recommendations, check out my newly built blog at book-snobs.blogspot We have facebook and twitter links on the blog and you will find me singing this authors praises on there very shortly!

This book could of actually been a great story but it just went so left field. To many stupid characters was bought in the middle of the book. I actually skipped chapters (which I hate) just to finish this book. Don't waste your money.

I hate giving negative reviews, but this novel annoyed me. There were frequent grammatical errors that the author should have been able to catch if she didn't want to invest in an editor. Microsoft Word should have picked up several of them. Cat Miller constantly switched the point of view, mixed her pronouns and never explained who was speaking until several sentences into the dialog. She switched between past and present events without warning and rarely bothered to describe the setting of any of the scenes.
Worse than the grammatical errors was the ridiculous plot. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be a romance novel because despite the well-documented sex scenes and love the characters claimed to have for each other the heroine fell in love with an endless train of men, several of them at the same. Most of the novel revolved around Danielle running back and forth into the arms of different men while at the same time feeling hurt and betrayed by them.
The bad guy was never revealed, just a bunch of henchmen out do do their master's dirty work. Each of them were killed or even ignored instead of questioned. Perhaps Cat Miller thought this would build mystery and dramatic tension, but it didn't work. The evil plan was never explained except in vague references to someone long ago that tried to steal vampire abilities. For what, mere power? World dominance? To get more sex? He's just some power-hungry enigma.
This could have been a wonderful story about a young vampire discovering herself and uncovering family secrets while falling in love. Instead it bounced around from the past to the present, from perspective to perspective, and into the beds of several men until I lost respect for all of the main characters and didn't care what happened to them.

Dani (Soleil) has a mystique aura that captivates men. Maybe it's due to her being half breed, part vamp that she is unaware of until she became of age. A sweet and beautiful young lady with special powers. Trouble seems to follow her as men are enthralled by her and women are envious. Raised by her human mother, she has no idea who her father is.
Chase is fighting his arranged marriage to Sam. Once he meets Dani his entire world changes. He will do whatever it takes to prove his love for Dani. Even try to go against his father in the prearranged marriage his family has planned for him. Will he succeed?
Kayden falls for Dani as well. His friendship means the world to Dani. When Dani reveals her secret to Kayden, will he still want to bond with her?
Evil lurks in the shadows searching for his next prey as several YA are captured and their powers are stripped. Can the evil strip the powers of a half breed?
Cat Miller has written a magnificent paranormal story that will captivate you craving more in this action packed drama. The mystery and suspense keeps you intrigued. The indecisions of YA and the choices they make. Love each and every character! This story would make a great mini series!
Can't wait to read next installments, Unforgiven, #2 and Unmerciful #3.

All of the angst of Twilight, none of the teenagers. Unbound is the love story of two of the most selfish, immature people on the planet. The beginning of the book goes a little something like this....Chase, spoiled vampire from ruling family, meets Dani at his family's night club. Chase decides he must have her. When Dani is attacked he brings her home, helps her heal, then together they dream up what their future lives will be. As they lie together in his bed, shrieking female vampire comes in, tells Dani she is Chase's betrothed, and Chase's response is something along the lines of " well, Lovely, you didn't actually expect me to marry you, did you? My superior ass couldn't possibly dirty my blood lines." The rest of the book is Dani jumping from man to man trying in a pathetic attempt to forget Chase, while he does his best to destroy every relationship she begins. She doesn't care who she uses, and Chase doesn't care how badly he hurts hurt. As with the aforementioned Twilight Dani chooses the worst possible mate that any sane woman would run from. This is all presented as if it's wildly romance, an epic love story for the ages, when really it's just pathetic.

The story is good. The writing is a little choppy, but it's how I write, so I can't fault her for it. I wish the characters were a little more developed.
I love Dani, but wow she goes through guys. A couple of them, you're left wondering what happened. There were a couple things that were left with loose ends. I know there is another book, but I won't read it. After reading the reviews, many said Dani went from being strong, to being weak. And I would prefer to skip it. So maybe in the second book, some of those characters like Lucas and Jared will be mentioned and you'll get some more insight.
All in all though, it is a decent story.

Some spoilers: I liked some of the characters and was irritated by others. I felt sorry for Dani. Except her mother and Chase in the end, no one seemed to love her enough to want to be with her. Being rejected for who she was after it was revealed was sad. I did not understand her boyfriend Lucas behavior at all. He does not want to have sex with her until she is leaving. Then he is crazy about her only to treat her badly when he visits her. Also I really was mad that Tessa, her mom and a likable character, went without sex for 21 plus years because of a bond that Griffin fails to recognize. While usually not for such as long period of time, it is typical in books now if the characters are separated that the men are with OW and the heroines never have sex with anyone else. It is sexist, stereotypical and unfair. I wish authors, who are mostly female would stop doing that. I thought too that Griffin did not love Tessa. He never tried to really confirm that she was dead. He gave up too easily. He graved for only short period of time and then gave into his parents, bonding with someone else.
Other things regarding the story: It lagged in parts and so it took me a while to finish it. While the ending was not as bad as I anticipated, leaving unanswered questions was irritating. Based on reading reviews about the next book and how I felt about this one, I am on the fence about reading it.

This book puts a whole new light on vampires. None of the silly superstitions, like eating garlic or wearing a cross to keep them away or they have to stay out of sunlight, and by the grace of God ,they do not sparkle!
It's actually just a DNA difference. But try telling that to Dani who was raised human and has no idea she is half vamp until she comes of age and her powers start manifesting themselves. Then life as she knows it, is completely turned upside down.
Enter Chase and Kayden. Two extremely hot vamps that are both vying for her attention. The problem? The one she has the strongest connection to has a psycho ex who he has been promised to be bonded with him. With a human mom who has kept secrets from her, a new found vamp dad, and a Rogue vamp trying to steal her powers, how is a half breed supposed to make it???
This is one of the most enjoyable books I have read in a very long time. Cat Miller has a way of personalizing her characters that makes you understand what they are feeling and it's what makes this story so absolutely amazing.
Cannot wait to sink my teeth into the next book!

First and foremost I did attire this book free in exchange for an honest and fair review, on behalf of the Wicked Reads Review Team. I chose this book among many options to read because it sounded amazing and right up my alley. I love Paranormal and Romance. This book is a brilliant balance in both with some light sex scenes, I say light because I am use to reading books with some hard very descriptive sex scenes. I love my paranormal all ways...
This book was brilliantly weaved together, it's imagery was just enough to take you there as if a voyeur peeking into their world. It has mystery and at every turn I felt as though I had tons figured out and then like, that NOLA chef how tosses in some final touch, BAM Cat Miller twist the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because the main character want the typical needy, drama filled woman in distress. Don't get me wrong she needed her fair share of knight's in shining armor/teeth, but it was not for lack of trying on her part, Danielle is a strong young woman experiencing a life she had no knowledge was even out there, that was apart of her unknown heritage. She gets caught in a love triangle that only seems to get more complicated as it goes. The men in this book are strong and stubborn, cocky and empathetic. They are Adonis in her eyes and easy to fall for and hope that he will get the girl, oh wait no I want him too, wait what no I change my mind I want him too.
This is my first Cat Miller book but will by no means be my last. I can't wait to get my hands on book 2. If you love vamps and you love strong characters and great storylines but sprinkles of sex through out this book is for you. I loved it I even found myself crying in certain spots and mass in others.
Again I received this book free in exchange for an honest and fair review on behalf of the Wicked Reads Review Team. I am thrilled I did. Thrilled!

While pursuing through reviews before deciding to read this book one caught my eye, 'twilight, but sexier'. I'd hate to sum up a book in such a short way but man! It's not wrong! Cat Miller eloquently writes a deep love story that leaves you begging for more. I love the Twilight series. I love romance books. Hell, I love vampires. Unbound is an amazing choice for those with similar tastes. Unbound is an amazing choice for even those that hate Twilight. Read it. You won't be sorry.
