What is the best way for a musician to heal a broken heart?
Write a song about it of course!
Or a whole album.
Which is exactly what Jane Black does, never in a million years, dreaming of the success that would come with it. But with her new found stardom, comes people digging in her closet and exposing secrets she didn't really want to share with the world. So, when Matthew, one of the biggest music critics in the business comes calling for an exclusive interview, Jane agrees because he is willing to leave her personal life alone.
Or is he?
I have to admit, I totally believed in the beginning Matthew was strictly in it for the inside scoop. Though he isn't your typical trashy tabloid reporter, it is still his job to report what people want to read about. And of course gossip is at the top of that list. But as the story progresses, you begin to see there is definitely something more there for him when it comes to Jane. But is he willing to break his own rules to pursue anything with her?
And to say Jane is a little gun-shy would be an understatement. She is very unsure of herself, but more importantly, of men. After the way her marriage ends, I totally don't blame her either! But it is amazing what a little flirting here and there, mixed in with some ego boosting comments will do for a woman's confidence. But even though Matthew is building her back up, is she willing to take another chance of putting her heart on the line?
This book made me feel good. It reminded me of what it feels like when you are in the beginning stages of getting to know someone. The anticipation of that first kiss and all the yummy goodness that it can lead to. And the flirty banter that comes with those first dates. . Oh, and did I forget to mention, there are definitely some very smexy moments in there too!
But that isn't all the book is about. It is also about love and forgiveness. It is about family and how important they are in our lives. It truly is a book that has a perfect balance of all those components I look for in my reads. And even though there are some tough moments in this book for Jane, Far Too Tempting also reminds you of those moments that you keep tucked away like pictures and pull out when you need to smile.
Another great addition to Ms. Blakely's ever growing line-up of books!

There is something about a British accent that just *ahem* does things to me. And Matthew, well, he does things to me. He's sweet, funny, and oh so sexy! He's a music critic who loved Jane's last album, and wants to know what's next for her. He also wants to follow her through her writing and recording to get an inside look into the artist's life, and he's attracted to her but hesitant to act on it because of his professional interests.
Jane is a musician, and seeing a story about a female musician was pretty awesome. Don't get me wrong, Kellan Kyle and Lucas Wolfe are my favorite male Rock Stars (shameless promotion), but I really enjoyed reading about a female musician, and the struggles she's going through trying to write her new album. She had it relatively easy with the last one, as she was experiencing some serious heartbreak and felt pretty betrayed. Those emotions are usually good for chart-topping songs! Jane's husband decided that he plays for the other team, and apparently always has, though he tried to deny it. I don't know what I'd do in that situation, but my songs would probably be more angry than anything else! I don't even know how I would begin to do that, but thought Jane is angry, and hurt, she handles herself with grace, writes songs, and makes something beautiful out of something she could have allowed to completely define her.
Jane and Matthew together are fantastic! There is so much sexual tension and buildup that when they finally get to that main event, it's downright explosive! Lauren Blakely writes some seriously HAWT scenes! The two characters are instantly drawn toward each other, and the relationship dynamic they have is hilarious to read about. They both make mistakes, and Jane has some serious issues with trust, but the way they are together is just awesome! Even with all the new experiences Jane is having with Matthew, she is still struggling with writing. The book is a love story, but at it's core, it's more a book about Jane, and how she overcomes the challenges she's facing in her life. How she moves past her ex-husband's betrayal, how she faces her writing problems straight on, forcing herself to keep trying, and how she deals with starting over in relationships.
Lauren does a fabulous job with her books. Her writing draws you in and guarantees that you're invested in her characters. Her writing is descriptive, and entertaining (and HOT!), and you can't stop! I try to pick up and read her books when I have plenty of time, because waiting to find out what's going to happen drives me crazy!

I have a new favorite Lauren Blakely book, and it's Far Too Tempting.
Though Far Too Tempting could have been really stereotypical (there's an English guy, a girl dumped by her husband because he realizes that he's gay, and the main character is a rockstar), the book wasn't stereotypical at all.
Matthew Harrigan is the main boy/love interest and he is SO PERFECT. He's perfect in a sense that he is incredibly nice, good looking, and has a freaking awesome personality (he also has the whole bad-boy thing going on. Yum.)- but he's also flawed, which makes him seem more real. He is hands-down my favorite Blakely boy.
Jane's character was a joy to read. She wasn't overly whiny, and ended up really growing as a character throughout the book. I loved the chemistry between her and Matthew. I especially loves that she was a mom- it added multitudes of depth to her character, and the relationship between her and her son was written really well.
Far Too Tempting is steamy beyond steamy. Lauren Blakely should win an award for best sex scenes, because she sure knows how to write them. I loved everything about Far Too Tempting. The characters are well written, the plot is perfect, and the book as a whole is unforgettable. Far Too Tempting is the best Lauren Blakely book to date.

Lauren Blakely delivers a sinfully delicious love story that includes a sexy Brit that will have you so hot and bothered that you will want to tear off your knickers.
Matthew Harrigan is a british music critic for Beat Magazine. He is smitten with Jane Black an up and coming rock star and has a secret crush that he can no longer deny.
Jane Black has just had the rug ripped out from under her when her husband reveals a deep dark secret that ultimately ends their marriage. Janes break-up of her marriage inspires her to create an album that rises to the top of the charts very quickly and launches her into stardom.
But what happens when Jane gets over her husband and no longer is holding on to the pain of their break-up? Was the pain the driving force behind her ability to write great music? Have the Gods of Rock-n-Roll abandoned her?
Maybe all she needs is a sexy Brit to inspire her...
Lauren does an excellent job developing her characters through their dialogue with each other. Some of my favorite scenes from this story are the e-mail exchange between Jane and Matthew, the b******* scene (you have to read the book for this scene alone), and I would be remiss if I did not mention the hot and steamy conversation filled with innuendo in the market.
If you love a hot, steamy, and sexy forbidden love story with a few surprises that will put a huge smile on your face, and can speak with a sexy british accent in your head, (if not here is a link to several videos for the top 10 sexist male actors with british accents [...] I assure you that will find Far Too Tempting to be a stupendously sexy read.

Knowing that it was written by the fabulous Lauren Blakely, I knew I was in for a good read. Boy oh boy, this book was amazing!
Jane Black is on her way to the Grammy's. A place that she never would have ever imagined herself, especially a year ago when she was going through the worst days of her life. Those days though catapulted her and her music to a realm she had only ever dreamed of. At the Grammy's is where we first meet Matthew Harrigan, the drop dead gorgeous music critic for Beat Magazine. Jane has always had a little crush on Matthew. Witty, charismatic, tell it like it is journalist. So when he asks Jane for her first sit down interview after her win, she happily agrees, never for a moment thinking that she would actually win!
This book was fun, heartbreaking, sarcastically witty and sexy as all get out. I love how Lauren pulls you into her characters world. You know everything that you would ever need to know about them, giving you the perfect storyline. Not overly angsty but enough drama to make you feel. I would highly recommend Far Too Tempting as well as any of Lauren's other novels. Perfection for me!

New recipient of a Grammy for her latest album and recent single mom, Jane Black gets little time to rest on her laurels. She is expected to jump right back in and produce another successful album. But the writing productivity for her last album was the heartbreak following her ex-husband's bombshell walkout on their marriage a year ago, and she was done purging the breakup. With the pressure on to keep the momentum going and her muse nowhere in sight, Jane is just going through the motions until inspiration hits her.
In the aftermath of the Grammies, to Jane's dismay, the press starts pursuing the reasons around her marriage breakdown. So when Beat's top music journalist, Matthew Harrigan, better than goodlooking, deliciouly British and devilishly charming, approaches her for an exclusive interview that covers preparations for her new album without intruding on her personal life, Jane agrees.
She has always been attracted to the gorgeous Brit and figures that perhaps the close proximity, since he will be accompanying her in the studio, may help get her creative juices flowing.
Unfortunately, it isn't the creative juices that are flowing. Massive sparks flare up between Matthew and Jane and although the two are doing all they can to keep a professional distance until the article is written, the temptation proves too big. Still hampered by writer's block, Jane is hoping that perhaps giving in to an affair may spark her inspiration, but even that does not seem to do the trick.
With their personal involvement it becomes difficult to separate their professional lives and slowly the lines are becoming blurred.
*****
I really enjoyed this book. The snappy banter, the British dirty talk, the evident chemistry between Jane and Matthew. The unapologetic and straightforward interest they have in each other........no games, no beating around the bush. They are very clear in what they want, logistics and timing is their only issue. It is so wonderfully mature in comparison to some of the grade school antics I sometimes read.
Matthew is a pretty straight-laced guy, who doesn't draw outside the lines much. He is completely taken with Jane but is also a professional to the core. He seems to be able to compartmentalize work and personal life well and responsibly, initially, but that is more difficult as they become closer. He is very verbal and does absolutely not hold anything back, which is exactly what Jane needs.
“You are so wet, and I f..... love that so much. You need to know that. You need to know how good you feel to me. How amazing it is to be inside you.To feel you around me,”
Jane is a bundle of insecurities. Her life to date, was all based on a misconception, a lie, an illusion. She has no idea of the value she has, of her desirability, her worth as a person......a woman. Someone like Matthew, who tells it to her straight, is a little unnerving for Jane. Appealing, but difficult to trust. Not something she is used to, so to take everything he says at face value is hard. She needs to hear it, though, she craves that reassurance. It helps her be herself, in the moment......to just be and instead of desperately looking outside of herself for inspiration, allow it to come to her.
"He tells me and I nearly combust. He knows what I need; he knows what I want to hear.
To be wanted.
To be desired."
The story grabbed me from the start and held on till the end, I was fully engaged and that is always a pleasure. The flow was nice and even with a steady build up of tension throughout, some pretty explosive and intense love scenes made all the more appealing because of the dose of humour injected. I chuckled quite a bit in the course of reading this book. Great job, Ms. Blakely!!! More like this please!!
✨Funny, mature, touching and smoking hot!!✨

Jane is a singer and songwriter. After her divorce she writes her best breakup album.Enter Matthew, the sexy British music critic. What more can a girl ask?He is the first man she finds attractive after her ex and nothing can stop the chemistry between them. But what happens when the heartbreak is gone and new love appears? Can she overcome her writer's block? Is love enough to write songs that come straight from the heart?
I loved this book. It is easy to read and the characters are great. Jane is a girl straightforward, determined and beautiful. Matthew is every girl's dream. Attractive, successful, flirty and funny. This book is a journey from hurt to love and mostly you wish you could have Jane's cd playing while reading the book.
p.s. I will never see a summer fruit again without thinking of Matthew. ;-)
Lauren did it again!

Jane Black has written the breakup album of the century, earning her a Grammy, a huge legion of new fans, and the pressure to repeat her success. Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview. Jane has trouble trusting anyone after what happened with her husband. Matthew wants Jane and he will stop at nothing. Fresh fun read

Review of Far Too Tempting by Lauren Blakely
4.5 stars
I connected with this book. I lived it and breathed it like it was happening in real time, in real life. I rooted for Jane, wanted to reach in and help her. I lusted after Mathew, wanted to reach in and touch that sexy Brit. Alas, I couldn't touch Mathew and I couldn't help Jane but wouldn't you know that Lauren Blakely wrapped it all up in a nice big bow and made it all right.
Jane Black is a rock-star. She was finally made it with her latest album after three that didn't hit that spot for listeners. She is living the dream and has a brand new Grammy to show for it. The only problem is that her success and her fabulous music have come from a place of real pain. The life-changing and soul-crushing kind of pain that leaves a person inherently changed. And Jane is, changed.
Matthew is a sexy British music critic with an eye for Jane. He loved her latest album which only served to make him more interested in her. When he sees an opportunity to combine business with pleasure, he takes it. Ever the professional he tries to keep his feelings at bay as he completes his assignment. He can't fight his feelings for her forever and as he tries to break down her walls he lets her in and falls for her at the same time.
"How can he kiss me senseless in the elevator and then hold my hand as if he's my guy and he's worried that I won't make my deadline? But he manages both sides- the sexy one and the considerate one- and if he keeps this up, my mind just might turn to mush because I am dangerously close to this being more than just a crazy kind of chemistry, more than a fun bit of flirting. I could see him as the man in my life."
Jane has been lied to, betrayed and had her heart broken. She is now navigating life a survivor of said events. It's extremely hard for Jane to allow her newly patched-back-together heart to risk love again. Will Matthew be the balm she needs to heal her heart for good? Or will his career take center stage subjecting Jane to betrayal once again?
"I am shaking right now, deep, searing tears pierce my throat, big splashes of salty water threaten to spill from my eyes because right now, this is all my fears, all my doubts, crashing around me again. This is me believing in something so deeply and then finding out I was tricked."
I loved this story. Jane was a refreshing character. She was real, normal and relatable. Besides being a rock star, she was a proud mom, a friend and family member. I loved how she talked about her son. I loved how she interacted with her family and friends. I just plain liked her.
I also loved her process as a songwriter. I know little about music and musicians but I felt this was such a great glimpse into music. I am not a songwriter by any stretch of the imagination but Jane's story had me wanting to scribble song lyrics on scraps of paper and mail them to her. I found myself seeing the music in her life when she couldn't. Then I read a little further. And damn you Lauren Blakely for making me feel musically smart for a minute because it was your fabulous writing all along. You expertly placed these musically inspired scenes and then had her relive them as she wrote her album. It was EPIC! I loved seeing it all come together. I love music and this book will defiantly be getting a playlist. I may even read it again as I listen to my playlist. I would read it again, it was that good.

This book was a really great read! An original story line with a developing relationship between main characters that was so real. Matthew and Jane had great chemistry, drawing you in from the beginning. There were hot and sexy scenes with my favorite being introduced with just one line that had me hooked, “His body is my playground”. In this scene Jane is in control and Matthew submits to her entirely but doesn’t come off weak in doing so, it’s nice to see a male character submit and still maintain his roll. The author did a fantastic job and I loved the banter between all of the characters. There is a part in the book where the author is describing what Jane thinks about one of Matthew’s articles and I have to say it is precisely how I would describe this book, “accurate, witty, clever and full of rich details that make the reader feel as if he or she was there”.

“Pain has a very funny way of subsiding, eventually, so you can survive. It has this way of not suffocating you every single day. Sure, some days you’re still blindsided by a memory, a feeling, a song. But other days, you realize you can get through and get by and not feel the claustrophobia, the fear that you’ll never be normal again.”
I fell completely in love with Far Too Tempting once I read the above passage. Reading this book was almost like taking a personal journey with Jane. Her pain was my pain. Her insecurities were my insecurities. And, her victories were my victories.
“Music mends.”
These were probably the two truest words that Lauren Blakely wrote in this entire book. Music sometimes amplifies our pain, sometimes it helps to soothe the pain, and it always helps to heal our pain. Jane’s pain is definitely an “OMG, did that just happen to her, my mouth just fell to the floor” reason but her journey back to happy is one that most women can relate to. It would be just as easy for me to make the majority of this review about the man with the ever-so-sexy British accent but for me, this book was solely about Jane’s journey. Bravo to you Ms. Blakely and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!!!

Jane Black's husband has come to the realization that he's gay! He drops this bomb and then walks out on her and their son. This life altering event gives Jane exactly what she needs to do an Adele. Her 4th album turns out to be the charm - a runaway hit - full of songs of heartache, broken dreams and her angst. This is what brings Matthew Harrigan into her orbit. He's a reporter and Jane is the hottest thing to hit the music scene. The newly minted Grammy Award winner is feeling the pressure to deliver the next big hit. Matthew is English, handsome, charming and will have you looking at peaches in a whole new different way.
I confess that I own and have enjoyed all of Lauren Blakely's books. They are enjoyable reads that are smexy, angsty, funny and hot without walking on the dark side. This week it was exactly what I needed. Without giving anything away, I will say that in my eyes, Far too Tempting is not just the story of a man and a woman trying everything they can do deny the fireworks going off between them. It's about letting go of the past and moving forward. It's about the love of friends and family. It's about digging deep, even though it might hurt, to discover that you are stronger than you thought you were. It's about realizing that your biggest tragedy can turn out to be your greatest blessing. It's about all those things tied up in a sexy awesome big fat bow. Jane is spirited and just adorable. Matthew is totally swoon worthy.

FAR TOO TEMPTING, like a seducing songstress, will lure you into its story and charm you into unproductivity as you are rendered unable to stop. You will be tempted to finish this in one sitting and you definitely should! I did and I definitely didn't mind not sleeping AT ALL and going straight to work. If FAR TOO TEMPTING had a body, I'd say it would be as eminently lickable as Matthew Harrigan. Ha!

This was a heartwarming story following musician Jane coming off the heels of a big music award and the British journalist that is supposed to chronicall her while recording her follow-up album. Jane and Matthew try to tap down their attraction; the rest of the story follows their relationship ands ends in a HEA. This was a sweet book that I enjoyed reading. I would recommend this book to anyone.

It took one failed marriage, a broken heart and a heart-breaking album for indie singer Jane Black to make it and earn the Grammy. After her post win-euphoria, gaining a large number of fans and story-hungry press, she can already feel the pressure for her to make a next big-hit album. It may took only a few days to finish the last hit album inspired by her ex-husband's abandonment, what will it take for her to make the next one? Her love life has been on hold, she hasn't dated - no thanks to the self-esteem blow given by Aidan after he left. But when the British (I can totally hear his accent!) music journalist, Matthew Harrigan asks her for an interview, she agreed, provided her private life would be off limits.
Who doesn't want to hear the sexy accent coming from an English man? I totally understand Jane why she felt attracted to him. He's sexy, handsome, smart - but one problem lies: he's a journalist. What makes her so sure that he wasn't using her to get a story?
She wasn't prepared for heartbreak, so no matter how tempting Matthew might be, she must tread carefully. But as they spend more time together, the chemistry is about to blow out of proportion and the attraction could no longer be denied. Did I mention she's suffering from a writer's block??? Just as when her love life is about to soar high, her career is about to plummet if she can't make a song before the deadline hits.
Heartbreak is one of the most painful emotions people experience in life. One way to survive it (besides eating tons of ice cream) would be music. Jane Black had put all her emotions, frustrations, and anger in one album that instantly made wonders in the music industry. But what others don't know, it is not just her heart that was broken - it was her self-esteem as well. For someone who is intelligent, she didn't see that one coming. She felt embarrassed for being stupid, for not realizing things about Aidan earlier in their relationship. I understand her frustrations and her being careful in dealing with Matthew - he may be hot, but he's a journalist, and it's their work to dig up anything interesting about their subjects. Subject like her ex-husband is definitely interesting, but it was something she wouldn't want to discuss with anyone. Trust is hard to give, most especially when the person you have trusted the most has already broken it. It took Matthew a lot of effort before she opened up, there were a lot of bumps and dramas in their relationship, a lot of misunderstanding because of the trust issues, but in the end, they both got what they wanted. I so love the changes that Matthew had done to her self-esteem - it wasn't an easy feat. But he had done it with flying colors. Indeed, love, whether it made or broke you, can make things possible.
"I am powerful. I am sexy. I am beautiful. To a man. To the man I want."
Let me start with the cover - the red bra says it all!!! Sexy and captivating. The plot was great, the chemistry was overwhelming I think my Kindle would have combusted anytime, the steamy scenes were HOT and of course, the characters were likable, but wished I had Matthew's POV too! (It would have been grand!!).
I enjoyed reading the journey of a striving artist reaching the pinnacle of her career, and once again striving to maintain her momentum while balancing motherhood, a new-found love life and an ex-husband who's trying to be a friend. It was an amazing story about trust, love, forgiveness and moving on.

First off, most of you know that I have been a long time fan of Ms. Blakely’s. I knew what the book was about, fell in love with the cover (one of my favorites this year) but I didn’t exactly know what I was about to get into.
All of a sudden I was falling head first in love with these characters so quickly I took a second to catch my breath! I also love the little Jill shout out!
These days there are, albeit very good, copious amounts of books about hot male drool-enticing rocker bad boys. I love my rock stars, do not get me wrong. However, it was supremely awesome to read a story about a kick ass rock star chick, single mom and real woman. Meet Jane Black.
"I want someone to want me. I want to be desired, I want to be admired, I want to be adored." ~ Jane
Jane did not have an easy year. Learning that her husband is gay rocks her world. She keeps it together putting her pain into her music. She is thrust into the spotlight and her already shaken foundation is put to the test when now that she is UP, people want to knock her DOWN.
So no wonder Jane has trust issues.
"I adore you, Jane," ....... "And I am absolutely and completely falling in love with you." ~ Matthew
Matthew is sexy, hot, sweet and BRITISH!! Love accents. He never gives up and that is one of my favorite traits in my Book Boyfriend. I wish I knew a little more about Matthew. I adored him but feel like I could have been a little more connected to him. They have their ups and downs but nothing so over the top I want to attack my Kindle.
Ms. Blakely puts life and love into her characters. They feel like your coworker, your girlfriend, your sister. This is one of my favorite aspects of her writing.
Jane's journey shows us that life does not go as planned, there are turns and twists that at the time feel unmanageable. In the end, it was all worth it.
"I'm the person I want to be. I don't need a man to be happy, and I don't need a man to be unhappy. I just need me, and I like who I am...." ~ Jane

Far Too Tempting was a fantastic read. Jane Black was a struggling musician that is until her husband leaves her, breaking her heart in the process, but allowing her to write "the essential breakup album for the modern age." Matthew Harrigan is one of the music industry's most powerful critics and after Jane's success he wants to write an article about the making of her new album. The only problem with this is the basically instant attraction they have to each other, which normally wouldn't be a problem except that he makes her happy and a happy Jane can't seem to write any songs. Jane has to decide which matters more to her, music or happiness.
My Thoughts
Jane was a likable character that you felt sorry for (divorce) and happy for (finally successful) at the same time. I liked that she was the rock star when typically it is the male character. I liked the family closeness that she has with her brother and sister and that she wasn't a diva. Matthew, what can I say about him? Besides being British and ridiculously hot, I liked his work ethic, his honesty, his humor and his drive to help Jane and not for the sake of his article but because he cared about Jane. Did I mention the book is hot too?
"Writer's block or no writer's block, I just want to touch you. It's driving me crazy not to. I want to take off your clothes, and I want to feel you all over. I want my hands on your body. I want to know how you respond to me. I want to taste you. I want to take you in my mouth."
All in all, it was a well written book that had me laughing out loud a few times and wanting to shake some sense into the characters other times. I very much enjoyed the book and anyone who has read/enjoyed any other of Ms. Blakely's books will definitely enjoy this one too.

Lauren Blakely is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I love her writing style and her characters, both main and secondary, are top notch.
We're always reading about the male rock star protag but this time we finally get a female rock star lead. A scorned one at that!
I lurve me some Matthew. I mean come on he's British for God's sake. Add in his dark hair and blue eyes and his hotness level blows the roof off the meter!
I will admit that through most of the story I was suspicious of his actual intentions and couldn't fully commit to adoring him but I held out hope throughout. Clearly I was not disappointed.
I love that Lauren writes some pretty hot sex scenes without giving every last detail. Sometimes a little really is a lot. I also love that none of the books I've read of hers are too angsty. She's writes just the perfect amount of drama. It's nice sometimes to read about characters who are scarred but not completely broken or who have slept with the greater metropolis of wherevertown.

I absolutely love reading books about musicians, the business, and the impact it has on their personal lives. I think it all stems back to my obsessive boyband phase in high school. I seriously loved reading about the music, touring, and how they would find that balance between their personal and public lives. I also wanted to be a singer for the longest time, so I suppose that also has to do with it. Anyways. One of my favorite things about this book is that I thought Lauren did such a great job of making this realistic for us. Our main character Jane, is a musician who has just hit the big time with her notorious breakup album. The book opens up with her winning a Grammy! Yet, while Jane is on a music high, she quickly comes down after realizing that she needs to stay on top of her game- which means writing more songs and laying down tracks for her next album.
Sounds pretty reasonable for an indie-artist, don't you think? In order for Jane to keep the spotlight, she needs to keep the music coming, not let there be a lapse between albums. Because as soon as you wait- the new next big thing is already on their way up and your just a shadow of yesterday.
I really liked Jane. She definitely needed this music burst to help her and not just professionally, but personally too. After having two mediocre albums and then having her husband break things off with her, Jane really needs a pick me up. Her husband leaving really left with her some confidence issues and this positive reinforcement is a great start for her. Jane is now a single mom and I loved her scenes with her son, Ethan. I haven't read too many books where the MC has a child and I really enjoyed that addition. On the night of the Grammies, Jane runs into Matthew Harrigan, a music journalist for Beat magazine. After exchanging some flirtatious banter, he tells her he wants the first interview with her after she wins. Matthew is one of NYC's most eligible bachelors- he's sexy, talented, and BRITISH. Yes, that's right. I do love me a man from across the pond! Matthew gets a hold of Jane and convinces her to meet with him for an exclusive interview. Jane is definitely wary of journalists- especially since her and her ex's story has been leaked to the media. However, Matthew is persistent and determined, and Jane is completely attracted to him.
Their relationship is definitely riddled with sexual tension and want, but Matthew knows it would be wrong to pursue Jane while he is supposed to be writing an exclusive on her. Yet, after a taste of the forbidden fruit, he can't help but go back for more. For the first time in a long time, Jane finally feels desired again. After the rejection of her husband, she craves someone to show her how beautiful and sexy she is- someone who wants all of her and wants her desperately. She finds that in Matthew. Jane is finally letting the chains of her past heartbreak fall away and is letting her heart slowly be healed by Matthew. However, Jane has been dubbed the Queen of the Broken Hearts. She poured every emotion, every hurt feeling into her last album and now that she is no longer that broken, hurt woman- she finds she's having trouble finding inspiration for new music.
She desperately wants Matthew to be her muse, to bring out new emotions about falling in love and letting her heart be mended. She is not having very much luck. She starts to question herself and lets self-doubt creep in- what if she's only destined to be the Queen of Broken Hearts?
As for side characters, I enjoyed Owen, Jane's brother. You can tell the two are very close- he positively encourages her, not just as her brother, but as another professional in a tough business (he's a writer). Aiden, Jane's ex, is just not one you can hate. Blakely created an ex who is not vindictive and horrible. On the contrary, Aiden is a good guy and a good father to his son. He hurt Jane deeply and for so long, she felt it was because she was inadequate and wasn't enough for him. The truth is, Jane had nothing to do with it. Aiden was not honest with himself for a long time and tried to make something work that simply couldn't. While he may have handled it slightly insensitively, Jane realizes in the end she cannot hold a grudge against him for being his true self.
"I would have told them that I didn't stop wanting you the second you left me. That even though you might have still loved me as a friend, as a person, I was still in love with you, and I thought it was all my fault that you didn't feel the same way. I thought I wasn't good enough. I thought I wasn't pretty enough or sexy enough or interesting enough. But it's not my fault." (e-ARC 204)
Jane's self reflection and commitment to move forward is what makes her such an awesome protagonist for me. I felt for her as she really struggled to write music again. She simply needed to take a step back and let herself open up to all the possibilities of music. Music is in her heart and it soothes her soul- there's no way it was going to give up on her.
I enjoyed this story- I didn't connect as much with Matthew as I have some of Lauren's other love interests from previous books, but I did still enjoy them as a couple and liked seeing their relationship progress and overcome the odds stacked against them.

Lauren Blakely is one of my "leading ladies." I have truly adored every one of her books and I've read them all. She has such a talent for creating a diverse cast of characters and the lead male and female of each book is so exceptional and different from the book(s) before it. Jane Black and Matthew Harrigan are two new characters Lauren adds to her repertoire of unique back stories and epic romances.
Jane Black is a musician through and through and she loves writing and singing more than anything, well except her son. She has been a struggling musician for years with mediocre music and less than stellar albums. When her husband leaves her with a broken heart and completely crushed, she channels those feelings into her music and writes an epic album for the broken hearted. Matthew Harrigan is a big time music critic for Beat magazine and he wants to do a feature on Jane and follow her through the process of writing a second album. However, Matthew wants more and he makes that very clear to Jane from the beginning. Jane finds herself wanting Matthew just as bad but can she let down her guard and trust another man, especially one who could quite possibly have ulterior motives and obliterate her heart all over again.
Jane is suffering a severe broken heart after her husband leaves her and her pain is all too real and raw. I connected with Jane and felt the all too familiar pangs of heart break in my chest. Jane's sadness, fear and loneliness sat closer to home for me than I'd care to admit and I felt like I really got her. Considering the circumstances of her divorce, trusting people, especially another man is very difficult for her. She has this insane attraction to the sexy British music critic, Matthew but she is always questioning his motives and I totally understood where she was coming from. I was just as skeptical as Jane was even though he proved himself time and again. Of course he would because Lauren doesn't create leading male characters that are anything but sweet, sexy, irresistible and the epitome of swoon-worthy. I'd expect nothing less of Matthew.
Heartbreak is all Jane knows and heartbreak is what wrote Jane's hit album, Crushed. However, Matthew brings out the opposite feelings in Jane and for the first time in years, she feels wanted and adored and desired. While she revels in these feelings, she feels like she's lost her writing muse. She starts believing that maybe she can't be happy and be a successful musician and this made me so sad because she so deserves to find true love and happiness and Matthew seems to be the perfect man to help her achieve this. When she starts to doubt her ability to have both and she thinks she will have to choose one over the other, I wanted to shake some sense into her. I wanted to tell her look inside and find a new inspiration. Jane Black is beautiful, strong, smart and no man should define her. I did a happy dance when she came to this same realization herself and I thanked the stars that she realized this before she did something crazy.
Jane's insecurities and fears definitely shone through in her relationship with Matthew and I think that he was so thoughtful and caring and aware of what Jane needed to overcome these obstacles. However, he makes a vital error and while I knew his feelings for Jane were real, his actions leave her with doubt and she finds herself nursing a wounded heart. It's a good thing Matthew doesn't give up so easily and after proving himself to Jane, she once again finds her inspiration. All Jane needed to do was get out of her own head and let the words just flow. As soon as she did this, she found that she could have it all and she deserved it.
My favorite part of this book was the focus on music and the power it has to help shape our lives. Music can help you heal and give you inspiration. Jane and Matthew are music lovers and they know the power it possesses all too well. Music mended Jane's heart, music brought Jane and Matthew together and music helped Jane find love and happiness again.

Far Too Tempting follows the story of Jane Black, rock star and Grammy award winning singer who gained fame and fortune singing about her broken heart. She’s under the gun to produce another blockbuster only it’s hard to write about a broken heart when that heart has moved on.
To complicate matters, Jane has recently met Matthew Harrigan – British music critic that hits every one of Jane’s high notes (I read his dialogue in Tom Hiddleston’s voice and he sounded magnificent. I recommend it). As her relationship with Matthew grows Jane finds herself further and further from what her fans and label want: another breakup album.
I really enjoyed this book. Jane and Matthew were both very believable and charming. Their relationship followed a satisfying trajectory, with enough troubles/miscommunications/dramas to keep it interesting. They were not only hot together, but sweet together, too. I absolutely loved Matthew and his humor and earnestness when it comes to Jane. This is a terrific second chance romance as this is the first time Jane has dated since her husband left her.
The husband is the only reason this book doesn’t get five stars. Although I’m certain his storyline has happened to someone in real life, I just found his character to strain my credulity. No one would be that okay with having his ex-wife crucify him in song so thoroughly, I don’t care how much guilt he was carrying. I won’t spoil it for you, but his reason for leaving is quite a doozy.
There are some great secondary characters in this book as well and I love that some of the scenes were set in my home state of Maine. There are references to popular singers like Adele which ground the fiction in the real world without being distracting. I recommend this book for all people who like non-traditional heroines and/or second chance romances.
Favorite Quote:
I want to move on musically, and I want to be happy personally. But those good, floaty, buzzy feelings for Matthew don’t come with any notes; they aren’t paired with music; they don’t elicit melodies. Maybe it’s only the broken part of my heart that can produce a song, not the part that might be finally healing.
And if that’s true, I’m pretty much screwed.

Far Too Tempting by Lauren Blakely is a fun, light, and thoroughly entertaining contemporary romance. Blakely pulls the reader in effectively using first person voice to tell the story through Jane Black’s eyes.
As indie music artist known as Queen of the Dumped, Jane finally achieves the success all musicians strive for, winning the Grammy for Album of the Year. Now the “it” celebrity, Jane is approached by Matthew Harrigan of Beat magazine, who wants to do exposé on Jane and the writing of her follow-up album. Completely attracted to Matthew’s good looks and British accent, Jane feels sexy and beautiful, something she never felt while married to Aidan. Jane is a compelling character as she works to heal herself after her failed marriage. I couldn’t help but cheer for her as she embarks on a relationship with Matthew and risks trusting another with her secret desires and plans for the future. As Jane and Matthew get to know each other, their witty dialogue, filled with tons of musical references, kept the pages turning. As a music lover myself, I really loved Jane’s top ten list of breakup songs. The sexual tension between Jane and Matthew just sizzles throughout the story. When they finally succumb to their desires, their bedroom play is steamy and passionate. Another aspect of this story that I truly adored was the parallel story lines of Jane trying to solve her writer’s block and starting to explore her relationship with Matthew, which adds depth to this story.
Delightful characters, emotional plot twists, and plenty of music make Far Too Tempting a deliciously seductive read that you won’t want to end.

Jane Black has spent years struggling as an indie music artist. But now she has finally found success with her third album. An album fueled by the pain of her husband leaving her. For another man. Ouch. After spending seven years in love with a man who never felt the same way for her, she no longer trusts herself. Or men.
Matthew Harrigan is a sexy, British music critic that Jane can't help notice and appreciate. But she's not going down that road again. She needs to focus on writing her next album and finding her elusive muse. But when he asks for an exclusive interview, she realizes he may have similar feelings for her. Or is she wrong again? Is he just using her for a story? Her self doubt gets in the way of not only their relationship but her son writing. She needs to get out of her own way, and out of her head. Can she get passed what happened to her marriage and learn to trust again?
I always enjoy Lauren Blakely's novels and Far Too Tempting is the right at the top of my favorites from her along with Playing With Her Heart. All rock star novels I have read in the past have the male lead as the rocker. It was a very nice change to have the woman be the rock star for once. I liked Jane a lot because not only was she ultra cool and talented, but she is also a down to Earth woman and kick ass single mom.
And Matthew? Sigh. I have two words for you: British accent. Picturing him all handsome with that sexy accent playing in my head while I read was fantastic. So yeah, I definitely recommend this book!

I was immediately pulled into Jane's story and liked her instantly. I liked that she was tough yet cautious. I really liked Matthew too, he's British, extremely sweet, totally swoon worthy and definitely has a way with words. I loved that he was such an up front kind of guy. Together Jane and Matthew have great chemistry and really connected well. Their conversations are so easy and playful. I thought they were super sweet together.
There were emotional parts throughout the story, the recounting of Jane's breakup was extremely heartfelt. There's a bit towards the end too when she really has an ah-ha moment and I felt extremely connected and was caught up in the scene. I have to say, I loved Jane! I love that she was strong and really figured her stuff out by the end. It was a heartfelt, emotional story about moving on, accepting, trusting again, and falling in love.
And may I just say - holy hell with the hotness! Lots of hotness. *whew* Lauren Blakely knows how to write the best steamy scenes. Wow... just saying... WOW.
I thought the story moved along at a good pace. At about the 60% mark I was ready for a bit more drama. When the drama did come back around it was just the right amount. I enjoyed the story line and there was a nice build up throughout.
I am so glad Jane found the closure she needed as well as inner strength to move on. She's a tough chic. Matthew was so sexy and heartfelt, add another British boyfriend to the list! Great love story!

review This was another amazing book by Lauren Blakely!
I enjoyed the idea of the woman being the rock star and not the male!!This book had an interesting storyline, awesome leading characters, humor and more!
Jane is a rising rock star. She has 3 albums under belt but now is really getting noticed due to her heartbreak album. Her husband hurt her- so she's surviving with her son, Ethan. She is trying to make it as a mom, rock star and being lonely.. She however is crushing majorly on Matthew who writes music reviews. She has liked him for years. But would be into her like she is him or is it all just a sick joke for his own career?
Matthew is a music review critic. He loves Jane's music and finds her beautiful. He would love something more but wants to wait until their interview is over.
He is wonderful, kind, listens and you can truly feel his affection for Jane, but is it for an ulterior motive or for his true affections?
I loved the music, friendships, family and the interesting storyline! You will have a new book boyfriend with this book! :)
If you love music, men who are loyal, supportive and sexy, awesome women and song writing you will love this book!
Wonderfully done, Lauren!

Lauren Blakely writes characters that get a reaction. A bad boy trying to make good, a woman trying to forget her past or a family searching for answers to an age old mystery. Ms. Blakely has written it all and thrown in some high octane sensuality for good measure. Far Too Tempting is a little more slow paced them some of her other romances but it still has characters that are easy to identify with, emotions that are understandable and sex appeal that is off the charts. Jane took a bad experience in her life and used it to make her a successful writer and artist, but she is still the insecure and heartbroken woman not many get to see. For me the focus was not on the love story as much as it was about a woman finding her way and learning to take chances. The sexy romance was a bonus.

I really enjoyed reading a different side of the rock star life and it was so nice to see that the female lead in the book was the famous rock star. And I liked reading about the behind the scenes of her life.
Jane Black is a very strong female but is also very down to earth and relatable. I liked being able to read through her journey...from understanding and accepting her divorce...being able to trust and find real love...and being able to work through her writers block and find true inspiration in love and not just in heartbreak.
Matthew Harrigan is a music journalist who is known for his harsh reviews. He is gorgeous, confident and very flirtatious. But is he just showing interest in Jane to get the perfect story?

This was fantastic!! Jane Black is an up and coming indie musician who hits it big after the breakup of her marriage. Matthew Harrigan is the top music critic in the biz. Together they are explosive. This story takes us along on their journey. Filled with angst, humor and sexual chemistry that is to die for this one shouldn't be missed by the 18+ readers. I highly recommend it.

Lauren Blakely never disappoints. I loved that the main character was a female music star and she was so real. I enjoyed following Jane's journey as she worked through her past and her writer's block, and I love how music healed her heart and brought her and Matthew together.

There were some great things in this book.I loved the fact that it was more about the healing process than the romace itself. It was fun story but after a while it was dragging a little and Matthew was too good to be true.

This book started out super Boring. It was way way to detailed...I'm surprised wedding hear about every time someone went to the bathroom. After Matthew and Jane make their attraction known to each other the story does get more interesting. Its a story of letting go of your past and being content with it. You can't change the past...so let it go and move forward. I loved Matthew... sexy British writer...yes please. The story went by fast...I wish some less important details would have been left out and there would have been some additional scenes. Overall it was ok. Not my favorite by Blakely but still good. The cover is ultra sexy ;)

Jane is a singer that has had mediocre success with her career. She had released three albums with not much success. Maiden her husband leaves her and she pours all her sorrow into writing heartbreaking songs and three fourth album is a huge success. She even wins the Grammy for best album. Things are looking up but she is still struggling with the fact that her husband left. They are sharing custody of their son Ethan so she still see's him and is struggling with her behavior toward him. Matthew Harrigan is a music critic with a magazine called Beats, and he gave bad reviews to her other albums but praised her new one. He wants to do a story on a look into her making her next album and following her to some of her rehearsals. She is struggling with the new album because she is slowly falling for Matthew and is feeling happy instead of anger. Follow the characters in this book and see if Jane and Matthew can get together, and if she can lose some of her anger with Aiden.

The circumstances that lead Jane Black to write a Grammy winning album of the year is so daunting, she thinks she’ll never find love again. Matthew Harrigan is a sexy, British music critic that she’s admired from afar for years. When they finally connect, things get really hot but can she let down her defenses enough to let him in? And Matthew has his own secrets to keep but can he let Jane in enough to trust her with it? Learning to love yourself first is the hardest thing to do before you can love another. Sweet, heart wrenching at times and a glimpse into the music industry. Great early book of Lauren Blakely.

This is a story about a singer with writers block and a sexy British writer. It has a sad story about the rock singer going thru a divorce and a journalist who falls in love with her. Fast reading because you won't be able to put it down.
The best part was when Jane discovered the answer to her writers block.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story that you read non stop and smile when it ends.

This is the third Book of Lauren's i have read and Loved!! This one had me at the cover....it kept me all the way through. It is smouldering. I have goosebumps remembering some of the scenes. My highlighter was working overtime!!!
Meet Jane Black, after having massive success with her lastest album, penned from the heartbreak that poured out of her following her husbands devestating revelation, and breakdown of her marriage, she is thrown back into the limelight with reporters fighting to get the story behind the album.
With a mistrust of Reporters, Can Matthew Harrington a British (drop dead gorgeous, sexy, ) music critic charm his way into gaining Jane's trust?
I was routing for him....i really was, but i called him a Rat Ba*ta%8 at one point after a certain scene, he wants Jane, there is amazing chemistry between them, it sparks out of the pages, and touches you.... and when she is left standing there outside the restaurant during the scene i am talking about..... I am left gobsmaked!! She is left reeling!!! So he earns the nickname RB from me.
But don't worry....Yes, he has Faults (Who doesn't) but it is his professional hat that causes the conflict. I want to slap that hat off, i want to stamp on it, rip it off, and chuck it away......they do pretend they don't see the hat sometimes ;-0
There is not an arrogant bone in Matthew's body, I love an arrogant son of a b*t%£ don't get me wrong, but i Love the Matthews of the world that don't need to show anything other than this Hot Honey Coated Calm Sophisticated Confident air that sweeps women off their feet and wraps them in that to die for Greek God finely sculpted body, which promises to 'Adore' them as only a Man like that knows how to!!
He took care of Jane, showing her she was the goddess that he wanted to worship in......over and over, again and again, renewing her faith in herself after her marriage which left her feeling totally unloved as a woman.
So whatever happens between her and Matthew, she would be thankful for that alone.
Me too!! Matthew is the marrying kind, you would want this one forever.
I laughed my socks off during this Book! I work in a fruit and veg shop, i can't look at the Fruit in the same light, i am going to dirty places in my mind and laughing out loud.
I even took fruit home and did a photoshoot...i kid you not!!! The evidence is out there......it will appear!!
Witty, Innuendo a plenty, HOT, SEXY, Caring, Romantic.
A must read, it melted me and Lauren hasn't failed me yet, her books are easy to read, goosebumps a plenty and you get involved with the characters so much that you shout, scream and love them.....
