I love all Carley Phillips' books! I really enjoyed reading this one. Her attention to detail and the story line is inviting! I can't wait for the one next one to come out. All of her books are fun to read!

Decent book. If you want an light beach book this is a good pick. Of course that means there's nothing profound about the story or characters either.
Simple plot, lots of dirty sex (lots and lots), and a happy ending.

What a lovely, beautiful story that takes you on an emotional journey into Tyler and Ella love story. They have known each other for years- Tyler is the best friend to Ella’s brother while she is the baby sister to Tyler’s best friend. She has always had a crush on her brother’s best friend. She thought Tyler would see her, would one day fall in love and they would have their HEA but that didn’t happen. One night, while she was drunk and staying at Tyler’s parents’ house, she thinks if she just “proved” to him how she loved him he would fall in love with her , things would fall in place. Well, that doesn’t work-the night ended horribly. Then the next morning Tyler cut and ran but not before things were said. From that point on, Ella realized her dream of being with the man she loved was never going to happen . She gave up and moved on and they both made sure they never crossed each others’ paths again for several years until…
Ella ends up hospitalized on a tropical island after someone attempts to rob her and there is a hurricane coming her way. Avery Dare is scared for her friend so she begs her brother, Tyler to please go rescue Ella. Only Avery doesn’t know the secrets both have been holding back from her . But Tyler realizes its time to fix the mess between them and heads to rescue Ella. Only when he gets there, there is more to the attempted robbery and Ella being hurt—she is being stalked and why? So there is a hurricane coming, Ella is being stalked and on top of that, the unresolved past between them is rising up like the dead –What are they to do? The passion, the angst, the fear and oh so much more had me captivated. I loved working out who the bad guys were and there were several parties involved. Then the emotional journey the MC took really took a lot of twists and turns. I loved the ending and am saddened that this appears to be the end of the Dare series but can’t wait to see what next up by this author.

Well written and full of drama and suspense. Storyline was believable. I preferred though Ian's story which had more passion. Loved the family theme throughout the series. The Dares of New York was excellent too. Overall nice ending to the series.

Tyler and Ella could possibly be my favorite couple in the Dare series..... Never have I read a couple so well suited for eachother.
Tyler is struggling with some demons. The author did a great job of making sure that the reader is able to feel and know and understand just who is Tyler. I'm pretty sure that if ever I were to want a "tortured soul" in an alpha man.... It would be Tyler. I enjoyed that the author didn't make his issue something unrealistic. That she made him normal and personable but overall... Someone the reader can relate to.
Ella..... Simply put... Extraordinary. A basic girl who's dealt with a loss so profound, it's enough to break a person. The author was exquisite in her execution of Ella's character. Enough that you felt her pain and emotions and yes.... Even her love. All that she's overcome, she's a strong woman and character.
The overall feeling of this book is wow! Carly has taken the Dare Series to a whole new emotional level. Guaranteed to leave the reader reeling and falling in love. With the twists and turns and oh my moments in Dare to Take, I'm positive that this book is my favorite. Ms. Phillips has ensured that the reader doesn't get lost in this series, even if they've not read the entire series. She writes in a way that allows the reader to be a part of the experience yet still able to enjoy the book. I can say that this was a whole new type of read from this author, and I'm a huge Carly fan. I love this book. And am happily placing this on my best read of 2016.

I LOVE TYLER!!!!!
DARE TO TAKE is a second chance love story. When Ella Shaw was 18 she "offered" herself to her best friend Avery's (Dare to Rock's female protag) older brother while he was on leave from the army over Christmas. While that night started with pleasure it ended in heartache. In the years following they did the best to avoid each other. Unfortunately however 9 years later Ella gets violently mugged while working in St. Lucia leaving her in the hospital with a concussion. The hospital refused to discharge her until they were assured that there would be someone to look after her. On top of that a hurricane was headed towards the island and she no longer had her ID or passport so she was stuck. Upon hearing all this from her BFF, Avery, knowing that her brother Tyler had the right connections to bring Ella home, begged him to do just that. Having managed to avoid really talking to Ella since the fateful night that they had shared years ago the last thing Tyler wanted to do was get involved in the situation but what was he to do? It's not like he could leave her stranded.
As soon as I started listening to this book I was pulled right into the story. That can be chalked up to two things; Carly Phillips' story telling and Sophie Eastlake's performance. I think that Ella's and Tyler's backstory was something that anybody could understand. We've all done something stupid while we were drunk. I also enjoyed each of their individual backstories. There were moments where I identified with Ella in particular.
I have to say that my favorite character in this book was Tyler. I absolutely loved him! His determination to make things right with Ella was admirable. There were times where I shook my head at his self recriminations because they were mostly unfounded. However on the flip side of that I loved that he was trying to be so self aware. He really tried to rectify what he thought were his past mistakes.
Ella too had a past that she needed to overcome. She had an extremely hard childhood and it held her back in many ways. Not to mention what that night with Tyler did to her self esteem. Again I must say that there were a few instances where I could put myself in her shoes. Especially with the twist in her storyline at the end. Watching the personal growth that she went through in the book made me proud of her.
The thing that I liked least about this book was the predictability. Yes Contemporary Romance tends to be unsurprising but by the 5th chapter I'd identified the bad guy. It bugged me that Tyler and Ella didn't figure it out sooner.
As far as the heat level goes DARE TO TAKE took me by surprise. In fact it boarders the line between Contemporary Romance and Contemporary Erotic Romance IMO. The sex scenes were nice and spicy. Not only were they hot bu Phillips did a great job of making each one different in some way. The sexual attraction between Tyler and Ella caused lots of steam!
DARE TO TAKE has solid, engaging writing, hot intimate times and wonderfully developed characters for the reader to care about. It's a keeper and it definitely won't be the last Carly Phillips book that I read.
About The Narrator...
Quite often it takes me a little bit to get into an audiobook. Every narrator is different and it can take time to get used to them. Nevertheless I found that getting used to Sophie Eastlake was no problem at all. From the start I was able to slip into the story as if I was reading it myself. Her pace and pitch were spectacular and basically everything was spot on from my point of view. Her voice is really pleasant to listen to. I particularly liked Tyler's voice. It made my insides all tingly. Eastlake is undoubtedly a top notch narrator!

tyler is a swoon alert ladies. he knows he messed up years ago and wants to make it right. He also wants to straighten himself out before he commits and feels that he can be all that he feels Ella deserves. Watching him go through his emotions, guilt and pain and come out stronger and more at peace was amazing to watch especially when he stood up to his dad. His moments with his nieces and nephews precious and his talk with his mom was so incredibly sweet and real. You see why his mother is amazing and so loved in this series.
Ella is strong but weak. She has a low self worth in some aspects. When it comes to being worthy of love she especially feels this way. She is a great friend. Kind loyal and sweet to a tee but afraid to trust and lean on anyone.
Tyler has loved Ella forever even if he didn’t know it. There was always a pull but he needed to get out of his head and let go of his burdens before he felt free to accept her in his life. As he is trying to protect her and find out why someone wants to harm her he begins his journey into acceptance and peace. he sees Ella in a new light and his protectiveness turns into more. More understanding and desire. he wants to be her everything. But he also knows that he must tread carefully because she doesn’t trust easily and things of her own to work out.
Watching him accept her and support her with love, understanding and patience will have your heart weaken and you will fall in love with him more. He is alpha and beautiful. He wants to help and take away her pain but knows she must go through her own journey and he even lets her go so she can find her way back. That was the hardest part of the book for me watching him let her go so she can become stronger and see his love for her is real and forever. Watching him find himself was another heartmelting time as well.
As sensual and sexy as the other dare relationships, this book gives us sweet tender moments as well as sexy intimate moments. We see two people go on a journey both together and separate to find peace and acceptance within themselves and find their way to each other. A emotionally driven book that keeps you cheering on Tyler and hoping he gets the girl and finds peace within. A sensually written book that has you smile and laugh but also hope that love is strong enough to break the barriors and let these two come together and be a forever. Wonderful book.

What an AMAZING, goosebumps inducing FINALE to the Dare family!! I feel like I have just said goodbye to my dearest friends, having journeyed with them through their highs and lows of love, betrayal, loss, happiness, and accomplishments. Never have I felt so embedded in the lives of these characters brought to life by the brilliant Carly Phillips.
I always think that I have decided on my favourite Dare hero with each book, BUT Tyler Dare is hands down my number one favourite and Ms. Phillips certainly left the best Dare hero for last. Tyler was UBER alpha with his dirty talking, broody, and protective personality. I loved it when he called Ella "sweet girl" and my ovaries ignited with the tenderness he emitted whilst holding his newborn nephew for the very first time. Swoooooonnn!!
I revelled in this best friend's brother storyline, being one of my all time favourites set ups, and Ms. Phillips certainly delivered with her addictive narrative, deep characters with heart breaking back stories and of course, HOT and steamy scenes!! This story was the perfect blend of an unpredictable storyline and had all the FEELS! I had goosebumps and was choking back tears as the Dare family came full circle in the INCREDIBLE epilogue. Just PERFECT!!!! 5++ unforgettable stars!!

Dare to Take was an enjoyable and quick read. It is second chance romance but also a forbidden story between a man and his love for his sister’s BFF. This book had a little bit of everything. We had some laughter, love, suspense and a little bit of drama to keep the reader turning the pages.
Dare to Take is the 6th and I believe the final book in the Dare to Love Series by Carly Phillips. It is a stand alone novel but has some reoccurring characters from past books, because this series centers around the Dare Siblings. I am usually the type of reader that has to read a series in order, but for some reason this book called to me and I read this before reading any of the other books. I didn’t feel lost at all, Carly did a fantastic job filling in any of the missing components so that I could follow along without any trouble. I found the storyline engaging and entertaining, so I never felt that the story dragged on. I felt the pace and flow was spot on. This is my second read by Carly Phillips and I am a fan for life. Now I need to go back and read all of the rest of the books in this series :) I have definitely fallen in love with Carly's writing style, creative stories and lovable characters. Plus she knows how to write one steamy love story ;)
One thing I love about Carly’s books, is that she gets to the heart of the story right from the start. From page one she sucks her readers in and doesn’t bog down her stories with a lot of build up or information that the reader doesn’t need. She also doesn’t overload the story with a lot of excess drama. The drama that was created in this story was because of the demons that both Tyler and Ella needed to overcome. The drama is pretty short lived in this story. I also loved that she added the aspect of suspense to this storyline…she kept me guessing ;) I also really enjoyed the epilogue in this book, because it seemed to wrap up the Dare Sibling stories and also introduced the new Hero to her new series that is coming out. I look forward to reading Kade’s story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Carly Phillips and also a fan of second chance romances or forbidden sister bff’s stories. If you like a quick, sweet and sexy read then this is the book to pick up and enjoy. It will leave you with a smile on your face.

If Carly Phillips is truly planning to end the Dare series - or at least say goodbye for now - she could not have picked a better send off for the Dare family than Dare To Take. The Dare men (whether legitimate or not) are divinely alpha, dedicated to the well being of their family and soley devoted to the women in their lives. Tyler Dare is no exception.
But he does have secrets. Secrets that have changed him and effected his life since that fateful day. So when the pressure is on, what does Tyler do? He runs. He ran to the military after his family learned of his father's infidelity and his second family. He ran after a night of forbidden passion fueled by way too much alcohol. He knew he was not supposed to touch her. He knew he couldn't have her, even though he truly wanted her. She was Ella Shaw - his sister's best friend and completely off limits. What he never knew was how that night would change Ella and color every relationship she would have afterward.
Ella knew she was wrong. She knew that he was not for her. That didn't stop her that night. She got much more than she bargained for - a broken heart, shattered self confidence and years of awkward moments with her best friend's brother. She took his words and his actions to heart. But now Tyler is the only one who can save her. Can she set aside the past and give Tyler a chance to prove himself? And now that Tyler knows what his words and actions have done, will he take this opportunity to really get to know Ella and let her see the real Tyler Dare?
Tyler is determined to have Ella. Ella is determined to have Tyler but on her own terms. As they strive to get past their one doomed night together, they have to decide if misunderstandings will stand in the way of a future that they could have together. Off the charts chemistry, a long held secret, and a mysterious stalker all play a role in this incredible love story.
Robert Dare and his thoughtless actions have certainly had an adverse effect on the children in his first marriage. He scarred them. He destroyed them. I will never be a fan of his. but what I have loved seeing in this series is that one stupid man doesn't stop his family from being family. In times of crisis, the Dares are a united front. With Ian as the head of the family, each member of the legitimate Dares have faced rejection, guilt and heartbreak. But what a fine family they have become. They have overcome the past, made peace and finally have what they have longed to have - true love and true family. This was an amazing series! Beautifully moving and well written, this was a fantastic send off for the Dare family! Great job, Carly! Here's hoping we are only saying see you later to Dares and that they will be back soon stronger than ever!

When I started reading contemporary romance, Carly Phillips was one of the two authors that truly shaped what I would come to love about the genre. Back in the day, Carly's Chandler Brothers and Hot Zone were two of my favorite series. I loved them and I'm actually trying to re-collect both series in paperbacks. Sadly, I wandered away to discover new authors, Lately, I have been meaning to get back into her books. When Dare to Take was offered to me, I don't think I had a moment's pause before I squealed. It's a good thing this wasn't in public... It did not take me long to fall in love with Carly's writing style all over again. Granted, her books have gotten a bit sexier since the last time I read one, but it was like no time has passed since the first time I picked up one of her books. I loved the characters... Oh, holy cow. Tyler Dare... He's the kind of guy you'd want your best friend to fall in love with. He'll drop everything to come to her rescue. He's sexy as sin. He's just...yum. I do wished that Ella had made him grovel a bit more, but I digress. Ella Shaw is a silently strong woman. I say silently because she's stronger than she thinks. She's insecure it when it comes to being loved, but she's also strong enough to face her demons. I loved how she and Tyler stood strong with one another. They didn't let the other back down from outside forces. The sexual tension was off the charts. I loved the suspenseful elements that were woven between Tyler and Ella's romance. Part of me wishes it was a little bit longer, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dare to Take. It welcomed be back to the writing style of Carly's the I loved while giving me a chance to see how her style has changed since the last time I read one of her books. I've already added the previous Dare to Love books to my TBR and I'm looking forward to rediscovering Carly's classics.
