Ahhhh, another hot billionaire from Carly Phillips. This time, Lucas Monroe is the one who's front and center.
Lucas has been in love with his best friend his whole life. When he and Maxie were growing up he was a geeky guy who was unsure of himself. He was also kind of bullied by not just the kids at school but by his older brother. Let me just stop right here and say SHAME ON LUCAS'S PARENTS. I have 5 kids, and yes, I overlook some of the teasing that goes on, but I would never stand by and watch one of my girls intentionally hurt one of her sisters. And that is what Lucas's parents did. Keith was a jerk of epic proportions to Lucas and they only saw the good in Keith. Keith was such a jerk that he lied to Maxie and told her Lucas was engaged so that she would start dating him after college, even though she liked Lucas as much as he liked her. Well, Maxie and Keith married and he was an even bigger jerk to Maxie. Lucas distanced himself as much as he could cause it hurt him to see Maxie and Keith together, but after Keith passed away, he finds out that what Maxie and Keith had wasn't as perfect as he thought it was.
Maxie and Lucas are great together. He's so supportive and sweet, yet gives her the space to be independent, while being dominate in the bedroom. He was kind of perfect LOL I loved that while Maxie had stuff going on she didn't try to keep Lucas out of it because she was trying to assert her independence. The tension came from other places rather than from them. It was refreshing to read that.
So, Derek's book will be next and I'm curious as to who will win his heart. And we keep seeing Julian, and maybe he's changed. Will he get a book and end up with Kendall? I'd like to see that. I'll definitely be reading the next book out :)

I was fist introduced to Carly Phillips and her books through a blog tour back when she was still publishing the Dare to Love series. I was an instant fan and from then on, I try very hard to sign up for any PR when she has a new book coming out. I absolutely LOVED Going Down Easy and couldn't wait to get a hold of Lucas and Maxie's story in Going Down Fast. The turbulent emotions that the characters go through is riveting.
Lucas and Maxie have been in love with each other since they were kids but neither acted on it. Due to Lucas's awful brother, their lives took a turn for the worse. He was a horrible man who was manipulative, verbally abusive, and jealous of Lucas. He delighted in tormenting him and taking whatever Lucas had or wanted (including Maxie). Maxie thought Lucas was a lost cause due to those manipulations. When his brother is killed in a car accident, Lucas gets a second chance with Maxie but it seems his brother is still manipulating them, even in death. The hunger, longing, love, and desire is unmistakable between Lucas and Maxie. They don't travel an easy road but it was wonderful following along in their story to see how it all plays out for them.
Despite having to squeeze my reading of this book in between other obligations, I devoured it and probably could have read it in an afternoon if I'd had the time. It was that addicting. The story flowed well and like usual with Carly Phillips books, I felt drawn to these characters. I sat thinking about them after the book was over and I'm a firm believer that those kinds of books are the ones that stick with you long after you've moved on to other books. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can't wait for book 3 (Going Down Hard). 5 out of 5 stars!!!!

Going Down Fast is the second installment in Carly Phillips « Billionaire Bad Boys »series about three college friends turned billionaire tech businessmen, after the mega successful launch of their social media app. This book features Lucas Monroe and his childhood friend, Maxie.
Lucas has always been attracted to Maxie, but he never managed to make a move on her, until she married his older brother, Keith. But she remains the girl of his dreams. Maxie is now a widow, and her deceased husband left her penniless. She is deeply hurt when she discovers the truth about Keith. He abused her emotionally, but on top of that, he was a thief, a liar and a gambler.
Lucas’ relationship with his brother was toxic. Keith was competitive, thrived on his younger brother’s insecurities and bullied him during their childhood. Lucas doesn’t hesitate to step in and offers Maxie to move in with him, until she gets back on her feet. Their first moments together are awkward. Maxie’s computer-loving friend has become a very sexy man and they are consumed by their mutual attraction. Maxie was deceived by her husband, is she ready to trust Lucas? He is ready to give her space and time, but refuses to give up on them now that the stars have aligned properly for them.
I loved this book! I’m a sucker for second chances, and Carly Phillips delivered a sweet, heartfelt and sexy story. Lucas made me swoon, he is so generous and easygoing. He got lucky and intends to give back, sponsoring projects helping bullied adolescents. The characters’ interactions felt real. I enjoyed the pace of this story, with enough suspense to keep me flipping the pages. This book is a definite keeper on my shelf!

Oh Carly, how I love your Billionaire Bad Boys.....
I have to be honest, the thing that I love about Carly Phillips' writing it that it's smooth, easy to fall into, and captures my attention pretty easily. She continues this trend in the second book in her Billionaire Bad Boys series. In each of these books, Carly focuses on a different couple. In Going Down Fast, we get to read Lucas Monroe & Maxie Sullivan's love story.
I feel like the blurb that Carly has for this book is the tip of the iceberg. Of course that's what a blurb is for, but believe me, I was surprised with the twists and turns in Going Down Fast.
If you have not read the Going Down Easy (Billionaire Bad Boys #1), don't worry! Going Down Fast can be read as a standalone. Trust me when I say this. It bothers me so beyond when an author writes that whatever book can be read as a standalone in a series even though you know that it can't be. This truly can be. You will love Lucas & Monroe and the supporting characters within Going Down Fast.
I love that we some of the Dare characters appear within this series. I am a sucker for authors that intermix their characters within different series that they create. It makes fans feel like it's a real world that they all live in. I love it!
I can't even believe that I am going to end my review like this.... I am not even going to tell you what happens. You really need to read this book to enjoy it. If you are a Carly Phillips fan, then you will love it, I promise. She completely delivers.
Thank you Carly for allowing me to read Going Down Fast prior to its release. I am so looking forward to Going Down Hard releasing February 2017! I can't wait to read Derek's story.

Lucas Monroe is the textbook definition of a perfect gentlemen. I am in love with the man who is there when you need him. He is the one you call and the one who is dependable. Maxie Sullivan married the wrong man. For years, Lucas has been living with guilt and a sense of loss because his heart wants what he can’t have.
Lucas has been forbidden to confess his undying devotion to Maxie. Instead, he chooses to distance himself from Maxie but remain close enough to be available when needed. Thank goodness he has the support of his best friends and business partners to convince him to follow his heart. He has been unhappy and maybe a little resentful for years. In those years, he has channel his frustrations into making his company successful and women.
While Lucas, Maxie and his parents have suffered a grievous loss, it’s one that has mark their lives with the ability to love again and move on. It was crushing to see how much Lucas suffered at the hands of dubious acts committed by his brother and supported by his parents.
Opportunity makes it possible to profess their love to each other and they take bold steps to be together despite their family disapproving. However, I did expect more action from Lucas when trouble came knocking on Maxie’s door because of her husband’s betrayal. A powerful billionaire with the contacts and money could have done a lot more and quickly.
This series is swoon-worthy, sexy and thoughtful. The billionaire men are vulnerable and smoldering hot while being alphalicious protective. Going Down Hard is the perfect mix of passion and erotic romance.

When Maxie and Lucas were younger they were best friends both having hidden feelings for each other. Unfortunately, college takes them down different paths and then deceit and lies from Lucas’s own brother, Keith, leads Maxie into his arms and soon she became his wife. However, Keith becomes a very selfish husband who can’t stay sober or faithful. After a series of tragic events at the beginning of the book that leaves Maxie a widow, without a job, depressed and eventually homeless she has no idea what to do. Even though Maxie doesn’t want to be dependent on another man after her disastrous relationship with Keith she has no choice but to turn to Lucas. As she tries to put her life back together Keith’s past dirty deals and lies keep coming after Maxie in all directions and she has a hard time keeping up. Even though she is afraid to trust another man and she wants to be an independent woman, the two friends fall back into that comfortable space they once had before Keith interfered in their lives. Things are constantly trying to drive a wedge between the two but Lucas is determined not to lose Maxie again. Will he get that second chance?
Carly Phillips always makes me fall in love with all of her characters. Lucas is such a good guy who has always done what he thought was best for everyone else especially Maxie. And Maxie is that girl you love from the moment you met her even though you want to her hate her because she is amazingly beautiful. You can’t help but care for her and want her for your best friend. However, I especially wanted them to have that second chance. Can’t wait to read the next Billionaire Bad Boy Book!

Technically you can read Going Down Fast if you haven't read the first book, but there is a character that has popped up again that isn't part of the guys tight circle. He did a pretty awful thing in the last book, but I wonder if he will pop again. Other than that the story focuses on Lucas and Maxie. Now these two have known each forever. Both of them had crushes on one another, but it never seemed to work. Especially when Maxie decided to marry his older brother. Man this story could have been so much longer with a lot of story development. However, this a fairly quick read it's pretty good the way it is, but so much could have been added.
As Going Down Fast stands it's a pretty good read. I mean you have an automatic drama with Maxie being a widow and finding things out she never knew about her dead husband. She knew some of the stuff, but things start to creep out of the wood works. You have Lucas straining to keep his feelings under wraps, because he doesn't want overwhelm Maxie. That delicate fine line. Anyway, like I said it was pretty good, but probably could have used a little more to the story. However, Going Down Fast had got me thinking about one very secondary character and wondering if he's going to get a story in the long run or not. I'm curious who is lined up to pair up with their third partner. Yes, I can't wait to see what will happen next in the serious.
If you are looking for a fairly quick read with a widow and brother-in-law situation, Going Down Fast might be your read.

"He hoped she was ready. Because Lucas intended to get his girl."
All I can say is... Gahhhhhhh!!!
I'm so in love with Lucas and Maxie!!!
I love friends-to-lovers stories, but this goes beyond that. This is a story about two people that have always been meant to be, but they stayed apart for so many years due to lies and deceit. After tragedy and heartbreak, truths and secrets are revealed and it only brings these two closer together.
"Maxie."
"Lucas."
"Walk away."
"I can't."
"Then run before we do something you'll regret."
"Or?"
"Or I'm going to pull you against me and kiss you. I'm going to taste that sexy mouth of yours, and while I'm doing it, you're going to feel exactly how much I want you. Will you run again then?"
"Oh God...Do it."
This book surprised me in so many ways. I didn't expect to get emotionally attached to these two in many ways. And that was a very good thing!!
Lucas and Maxie each have been hurt and have lived many years trapped behind the line they have never been allowed to cross.
The twists and turns within this book takes you on a journey-their journey. The love these two have always had for one another shines through all the pain of their pasts. This book is emotional and sexy, but also captivating in its own way.
"Why the change of heart?"
"I want you, Lucas. I always have. I decided it's our time.

This is a story of emotion abuse and second chances. Lucas and Maxie were best friends growing up. As they grew up, they both felt more for each other but they're were to afraid to share their feelings. There was always competition between Lucas and his brother Keith. Whatever Lucas had, his brother wanted and that was no different when it came to Maxie. He took her away and almost destroyed her over time.
My heart broke for Maxie. She lost so much and endured more than a lot of people could handle because of her husband. From being emotionally abused, losing her job, her baby, her home. The one person in the world she could truly count on was the only one that was ever there for her completely.
Lucas was amazing. He tried to distance himself from his sister in law. It never mattered. He could never deny her anything she needed. And when he found out exactly what his brother had done? It's a good thing he was already dead.
Lucas and Maxie had undeniable chemistry that only gets hotter as time passes. I loved his patience with her. She obviously needed time to become her own person and he was the perfect man for her. I really felt connected to Maxie throughout the story. I understood her need to be on her own and the need to figure things out.
Carly is one of my go to authors. She never ceases to amaze me with her writing. The characters are always well developed and the stories are well rounded. This book was certainly no exception. Carly has created another must read series that you won't be disappointed in!

This second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series is a hot and sexy friends to lovers romance. Lucas Monroe is a totally different man than the insecure, nerdy boy he was in high school. He is a confident, sexy, tattooed, successful business man who still pines for the one he has loved since childhood. He and Maxie were inseparable as they grew up together, but he didn't have the nerve to ask her for more than friendship. After moving away for college, they grew apart and he lost his chance when she married another. Maxie always loved Lucas as well, but believed he had moved on without her. So when a man she trusted told her what she wanted to hear, she married him. Now years later, the deception she fell for is causing her more pain than she could every imagine. With Lucas back in her life, he is the one constant she is always able to count on. Lucas is making it clear he wants more, but Maxie never wants to be dependent on a man again. She is strong, hard working and determined to make it on her own before she gives in to her feelings for Lucas. Lucas is so sweet and thoughtful trying to help Maxie without controlling her as she grows stronger and more confident. They are figuring out how to navigate their feelings and fiery chemistry while enduring the obstacles threatening to tear them apart. I really liked both Maxie and Lucas and loved them together. There are a few twists and turns that add some suspenseful moments to this sweet and very hot and sexy romance. I am really enjoying this series and am excited for Derek's story next.

The Billionaire Bad Boys are BAAAAAACK and this time it’s Going Down Fast as Carly Phillips didn’t waste anytime setting hearts on fire as Lucas Monroe made it clear that Maxie Sullivan was always meant to be his. Lucas has always been in love with his childhood best friend, Maxie but never acted on it especially when she got married to his brother, Keith. But when Maxie’s husband dies, there is only person that she can count on...Lucas.
Maxie has always loved Lucas and their timing was never right. And so when she is in financial trouble, she turns to the one person who was always there for her. Right away, sexual tension was in the air. Maxie and Lucas knew once that they crossed that line there was no turning back. And guess what? They crossed the line because there was no use in denying their feelings for one another anymore. As things heat up between them, what happens when secrets of Maxie’s husband are revealed that could put her life in danger? Will Lucas be able to save and rescue his girl?
Going Down Fast was a fast well-paced love story that immediately grabbed your attention right from the prologue. It was sexy, emotional, touching, uplifting, and hot as sin. Carly Phillips allowed readers to see that time, distance, and circumstance couldn’t stop the inevitable of Lucas and Maxie’s relationship because their love was pure and meant to be. And so if you are looking for a sexy second chance billionaire romance that was utterly addictive then this book is definitely for you.

There is nothing not to love about this book, the writing style, the characterisation, the whole kit and caboodle is just on the money!
Lucas…oh my man where have you been all my life. Looking for the perfect leading man, look no further the guy has it all and he has it is spades.
I loved the way he was with Maxie, the fact that as much as he wanted to protect her and be everything she needed, he knew that he had to keep that urge under control because what she needed was for him to be her support while she worked through her problems herself, not for him to do it for her. I could almost physically feel his anguish, the fact that he had to reign himself in somewhat but in my book, that was the mark of not just a good man but a great man.
You get a heads up at the very beginning that all is not as it should be with Maxie, she really has been through the mill. Her past relationship was enough to have left its mark and while she has always had a thing for Lucas, taking it to the next step has never been an option.
But there is only so much denying themselves that they can endure, they have to face facts and address that what they feel isn’t going away, but in order to do that they have to also deal with the everyone else.
I wanted them to have their happy ever after but I knew that this author wasn’t going to give it up easily, she was going to make them both work hard to get what they wanted most…each other.
Together they were sizzling, they set the page alight. But this was more than that, this was deeper, more emotional, more connected and the book was all the better for the depths that the author was prepared to take them too.
This was a man that was willing do whatever he had too to have his woman, the love of his life, his reason to breathe. He wanted her more than he had ever wanted anything before and it took time to show Maxie that. She was a little slower to the party is some respects, she took some convincing that not only was he in it for the long haul but also for the right reasons.
Maxie wanted to nothing more than to be loved and with Lucas she couldn’t have found a better man.

What a wonderful follow up to the DARE series, filled with hot, sexy men and their tough but sweet women. Always a treat to read one of Carly’s books, and I love the way she writes the intimate scenes in this one.
Keith Monroe was a total jerk. He’d trapped Maxie Sullivan in a destructive relationship all because he was jealous of his brother Lucas. Growing up, their parents had always idolized Keith. Whenever Lucas complained or went to them for help, they didn’t believe him. Keith had always taken everything Lucas had wanted–like girlfriends or their parent’s approbation –simply because he could. Now he’s gone, and Lucas is realizing that cutting Maxie out of his life because of Keith had not only hurt her, it had allowed Keith to really mess with her. It was going to take a while before Maxie would feel safe again.
Marie’s marriage had turned into a gilded prison. Keith had been verbally abusive as well as incredibly manipulative, and slowly over time she’d been more and more isolated from friends and family. After his death, she’d found out that not only had he been a horrible person, he’d also left her with a financial nightmare–eviction from their home and no cash. Apparently he’d also been embezzling from the firm they worked for so she’d lost her job.
With Lucas on her side, things are moving in a great direction until a shadow from the past threatens the future they could finally have.
Awesome read from a great author. Thanks!

*thanks to Rock Star PR for sharing a copy of this with me*

Going Down Fast is the second book in Carly Phillips newest series, the Billionaire Bad Boys. Lucas was a nerd growing up. He was bored in school and bullied by other kids, especially his older brother Keith. He ended up dropping out of college only to become a multi-billion in the tech world. Keith was the popular kid, into playing sports, and besting everyone else, including his Lucas. Keith even manipulated the girl Lucas cared for by lying to her, telling her Lucas was engaged, and getting her to marry him.
Maxie Sullivan cannot believe all the lies her husband, Keith, told before he died. He was unfaithful, gambled, embezzled money from his law firm, stopped paying the life insurance policy, and took out a second mortgage without telling her any of this. It is only after his death that sure learns of all of this. Icing on the cake is losing her job at his law firm because of his sins. Lucas has been her best friend since they were kids. Maxie always thought Lucas was her future and regrets marrying the wrong brother.
Lucas offered Maxie a place to live until she is able to support herself. He has never stopped loving Maxie and struggled with the way his brother treated her. Now these two have a chance to rewrite their future.
This book is definitely hot and sexy with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Going Down Fast is a friends to lovers romance with a twist. It's the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series and it's Lucas's turn to reconnect and find love.
It's nine months after Maxie's husband, Keith, died in a car accident. It's been nine month dealing with Keith's indiscretions, which has led to Maxie losing her home and her job. When she has no where left to go she turns to Lucas Monroe, her brother-in-law and childhood best friends.
Lucas Monroe, co-creator of Blink social media app and billionaire bad boy, will do anything for Maxie. She was his childhood best friend and he developed deeper feeling for her when they became teenagers. They lost touch until Maxie married his brother Keith. Lucas was bullied by Keith when he was younger and the taunting continued as adults. Keith's secrets are soon revealed. He's not only a gambler and thief but also a huge manipulator. The story is initially heartbreaking. Not only did Maxie suffer a terrible lose but her husbands sins continue to haunt her. Lucas stands by her side and fights for her. Can they both move past the manipulation and find true love?
The story deals with the aftermath of a jealous, manipulating sibling who was out to wreak havoc on his brother and it didn't matter who he took down in the process. The story is filled with emotional turmoil and resolve. 4 Stars

Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips has a unique spin to the typical “friends to lovers” story. The story line quickly sucked me in and I devoured it… needing to know what happens next. The writing is well done and perfectly paced with lots of drama, angst, desire, heartbreak, and passion. The characters are well written and I just love both Maxie and Lucas.
Maxie and Lucas have been best friends since grade school. Maxie secretly had a crush on Lucas, but he did not have any confidence in himself. Lucas wasn’t like his brother Keith, outgoing and on the football team. Then one day, Keith asked Maxie out. She agreed thinking Lucas only thought of her as a friend. Eventually, Maxie and Keith were married.
Their relationship started to go bad and then went really bad. Maxie couldn’t rely on Keith and eventually started to call Lucas, when she was in trouble. Then, something horrible happened which snowballed into a giant mess. Lucas helped and supported her throughout the whole story. Their friendship blossomed into something beautiful and I absolutely recommend this story!
Also a note… there was no cheating in this story.

What another fun Carly Phillips journey this book is. From the very first moment, the reader is taken on a journey that is Maxie and Lucas. The way the story is set up, you know there's something more between the two than just friendly neighbors, and the answers are given to you -- even if a little slower than I wanted (...but still within the first chapter or two).
Maxie and Lucas's relationship was so incredibly sweet. I enjoyed them very much. Maxie's journey to this book hasn't been easy, and Lucas's? Well, it's hard being in love with your once best friend...
This was a great CP contemporary but I found it flawed in some of the story telling -- which was shocking to me, because I'm such a Carly fan. The first chapter felt rushed and I would have liked to have some of the key bits right away; as it was, it felt like I was missing something. There were a few other moments too that I felt the story was full Carly Phillips story-telling-esque which is why this read gets 4-stars from me. However, Maxie and Lucas were great; I loved this friends to lovers romance and the added suspense in the story helped push the story along.
We have one more Blink guy to fall... I cannot WAIT to watch him fall!

Another great one from Carly Phillips and perfect for a quick read! Fast paced read that you get pulled into GDF quickly and the added element of suspense hooks you. Going Down Fast is a friends to lovers’ romance. GDF is sexy and sweet with plenty of drama and angst.
Lucas and Maxie had been childhood best friends yet the timing never seemed to be right for them. When Maxie married Keith and that kind of was the end of it …. even though Maxie had always crushed on Lucas. Little did she know that Lucas felt the same way.
The one thing that Maxie did know was that Lucas would always be there as a friend she could count on. When things began to got to s**t in her marriage he was right there to help her. It was only a matter of time before these feelings surface.
And geez, with a man like Lucas he’s just what Maxie needed. A man who never flaunted his wealth or power but just someone to protect her, to help her and someone who gave his heart to her. Their Chemistry was red hot and good heavens if sparks don’t fly as they steam it up!!
Will Maxie and Lucas finally find and HEA?
Simply put Carly Phillips will never let you down when you are looking for a steamy book to read. Once again another book that doesn’t disappoint!

Sigh... This book just hit every spot right for me. Maxie and Lucas' story is just a heartbreaking ball of goodness, rawness, and deliciousness. These Billionaire Bad Boys fall, and fall hard. Lucas is that guy who just makes you swoon. He's strong, he's got a good heart, and the length to which he will protect, support and love Maxie is untouchable. these two find their strength within one another during their story.
For Maxie, she needs to be her own person, and rarely is an extremely sex alpha man written that allows the heroin to do that without learning the hard way. Lucas on the other hand supported her, loved her, and truly gave every part of himself to her, and her to him. Going Down Fast has that thing about it. Just the right amount of depth, then breathtaking amount of pleasure and passion, and a dose of reality that allowed me to lose myself whole-heartedly in their world.
I couldn't get enough of this story, and these characters. I am waiting not so patiently for Going Down Hard and Going Down Deep. This series is fast becoming a favorite of mine, and I can't wait for more from these devilishly sexy men and the women who fight for their hearts!
Happy Reading!

When I saw this book, I immediately requested it. I've enjoyed Carly Phillips' books previously and I was not disappointed! This is a story of star-crossed lovers that, at the outset, cannot be together. Childhood best friends that never act on, or let on about, their feelings. As the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys I was a little worried that I hadn't read the first book, but I was worried for nothing. This is a standalone novel that offers some backstory as needed from the first book.
Lucas and Maxie have a history where they've always been there for each other, each hiding just how much they care for each other. Then Lucas went off to college and Maxie stayed back home. Now, Maxie is in trouble and there's only one person she can think to call...Lucas. Unbeknownst to her, Lucas has always entertained feelings for her. Can they get out of their own way, or will they let love pass them by due to complications?
I really enjoyed this book! I give it...4.5 stars! Phillips really drew me into the book and engaged my emotions. I became interested in how things would work out for Maxie and Lucas right from the beginning. Can't wait for the next book!

The Billionaire Bad Boys are back and boy are they hotter than ever. In Book 1, we were able to see Kaden fall, and hard, for the no play business hottie, Lexie. In this read, Lucas Monroe is already in love with the main lady, Maxie Sullivan, but so much has kept these two apart for waaaayyy too long. When Maxie finds herself trouble, and the only person she can trust is the only boy that has ever been there for her whole life, the realize that fighting for each other is more important than anything else. Maxie sure is a fighter and proves that she can and will fight for what she feels their relationship should be like; after so long apart, she doesn't want anything to stand in their way of love and happiness!
This book isn't just about the love and hot and crazy connection these two have. Not one of Carly Phillips books ;)! The suspense keeps you reading and grabs you from the beginning of the book and never letting go until the end. I never feel like I'm left wanting after finishing one of her books, and this book was just as amazing. This series is one of my go to's for so many aspects of reading: crazy romance, lust, suspense, drama, and hot and steamy sex! I love everything about this read and can't wait for the next one!

Going Down Fast, is the romance of Lucas Monroe, and Maxie Sullivan. It's the second title in the Billionaire Bad Boys series. This is quite an emotional, sexy, and sweet love story with drama and an element of suspense.
I loved Lucas' character. He is incredibly smart, sexy, sensitive, strong and very loyal. His character is incredibly endearing and like-able. I loved that he was so dependable, reliable and protective.
I felt heartbroken for Maxie, for her loss and what she endured during her marriage. At times I also found her a bit frustrating, but she grew on me as she grows as a character throughout the book. The sexual tension between this pair jumps off the page, when they become room mates out of necessity to prevent Maxie becoming homeless.
Both these characters faced a rough time of it at the hands of the same person. They both had to deal with lies, jealousy and heartbreaking loss.
This is a second chance love story of unrequited love. I enjoyed seeing this friendship, bond and relationship bloom over the course of the book.
I look forward to reading the next installment in this series.

Nice that there was action immediately. But unfortunately, it was nearly the only action. The exciting scenes later were over rather fast, making for a predictable story. This story was cute, but I also found it a little dull and detached. The reader was told they've loved each other forever, and I felt more could have been shown between them to understand he love for yourself. We were told Lucas helps bullied kids and Maxie loves him for it, but not shown. Seeing him do more with the kids would help understand he's a good guy and make him loveable. It would also be nice to better understand what is so great about her that he loves her. We don't know much more than she had an abusive husband and fought through it-not belittling that, but more characteristics her would be nice. There was a nod toward mental health and bullying, both issues that should be addressed more and aren't, and I appreciated that. All that being said, Carly's writing is always excellent. I enjoy her storytelling. The writing and plot flowed well. I appreciated the nod to The Dares. I adored the first story in the series and am looking the next. If you are looking for a light, quick read, you will enjoy the book.

Romance with some twists and turns thrown in. Maxie Sullivan and Lucas Monroe have been next door neighbors since they were 10 years old. She could always count on Lucas, he was her best friend. But when her feelings towards him deepened beyond just friendship she kept it to herself and Lucas was less confident back then so nothing ever changed between them. After high school they both went their separate ways. Maxie gave up waiting on Lucas and moved on marrying his brother, Keith, but their marriage was not all it appeared. Keith was verbally abusive and had gambling problems that created some real problems for him and Maxie. After Keith is killed in an accident it seems that maybe Maxie and Lucas may finally get their chance with each other but the obstacles they have to overcome and deal with may be their undoing. I loved this book it was well written and kept me reading until the last word - I wanted to see how it ended. Very heartwarming romance. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."

This was a pretty great read, definitely a 9 on the hot-o-meter!
Lucas and Maxie were bestfriends growing up and though both had feelings for the other they never acted on it. Then Maxie winds up married to Keith, Lucas’s brother. Now, years later, Keith is dead and managing to haunt Maxie with his stupid decisions from life. The only person that Maxie has to turn to when she’s left homeless and broke is Lucas, who is happy to finally have the chance to show Maxie what she means to him. Once the two are living together the chemistry is off the charts and they can’t resist one another.
This is a quick steamy read and it moves at a super fast pace which I enjoyed. Though it wasn’t my favorite in the series it’s still definitely worth checking out. It has a strong plotline and the writing, as always with Carly Phillips, is phenomenal!
Side note - I don’t know why this stuck with me so much but it really bugged me that Maxie bought lingerie for Keith and then wore it for Lucas, it just felt super weird…
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Going Down Fast is the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series. I thought it held up very well as a stand alone. There is a brief recap of Kade and Lexi's story so when those characters show up, you aren't confused. In this one, Lucas and Maxie had known each other since grade school. Lucas has always loved her, but stepped aside when she married his brother. Now, he has the opportunity to make her his forever. Maxie was controlled by her late husband. Now all she wants to do is make it on her own. She is conflicted in her feelings for Lucas and her need for independence.
I really enjoyed this one. It was nice to see Maxie finally get the HEA that she deserved, especially after all the had been through with her late husband. Friends to lovers stories are always the most satisfying! The ending was very sweet. There is also a little bit of a mystery in the story. That kept me on my toes. I definitely recommend this one. I look forward to reading the next one!

Going Down Fast is the 2nd book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series and is about Lucas and Maxie.
Lucas loved Maxie since they were kids and then they went to college and were separated. He dropped out of college and made it big with his best friends Kade and Derek with their company Blink. Maxie moved to Manhattan after graduating from college and ran into Lucas's brother Keith. Keith manipulated his way into Maxie's life and got her to marry him. But theirs was never a happy marriage. Keith took great joy in shoving his marriage to the one woman Lucas loved in his face - even going so far as to buy an apartment in the same building where Lucas lives.
The prologue was so emotional and was more than enough to get me hooked and know that I wanted to find out what would happen to get Lucas back into Maxie's life. I don't give spoilers, so that's as much as I'll give about the story. I loved this book and I look forward to the third book in this series and see Derek's love story unfold!

Carly Phillips is one of my absolutely favorite authors to read!!! I fell in love first with her Dare books then came the Dirty Sexy books and LOVED each of those. Now we have the Billionaire Bad Boys books and Going Down Easy (Kade and Lexie) I more than loved. I read it in one sitting. Now moving on to this one and let me tell you Lucas and Maxie have blown me away. There is not enough praise I could say that would justify how great this book was. They have chemistry off the charts. The story just flowed perfectly. And man oh man, Lucas, what can I say about him? He is HOLY MOLY HOT and sweet and quite honestly just perfect. I really felt bad for all that Maxie had to go through and deal with. I can't wait for the next bad boy book and honestly just any Carly Phillips book. They are all one clickers. I'm going to need a bookshelf dedicated to Ms. Phillips so I can buy all her paperbacks and read them over and over again. Highly recommend! This one deserves more than 5 STARS!!!

Lucas has always been the responsible one. His brother Keith ... well he was his parents' favorite but was bad to the core. Lucas was always left to clean up the mess.
With Keith's death, Maxie is now widowed and free from his abuse. When Keith recklessness finally comes knocking at her door now only Lucas can save her. Can she stand to seek his help after all these years? She always had a crush on Lucas, point of contention with Keith. Can she overcome these lingering emotions as she asks Lucas to shelter her while she tries to rebuild her life?
This is an emotional and passionate book. The frustration our two characters feel the impact Keith had on both their lives makes for additional tension. A somewhat unique courtship between these two is worth reading just for the ups and downs of their relationship.
As with all Carly Phillips books you get a wonderful storyline, full of passion and romance. This is an easy read that will keep you on the edge of your seats.

Ohhhhh Lucas...siggghhhhh!!!!!!!! I heart a strong, attentive, SEXY man. Lucas has it all when it comes to his business, but the one thing that has always eluded him has been Maxie. Maxie used to have it figured it out, but then she got stuck in a loveless marriage with the wrong brother. Maxie just wants her independence's back, she wants to prove that she can stand on her own two feet. Maxie and Lucas have always been their for each other. I love how sensitive he is to her needs. I love how he allows her to be herself. I love how he treated her. I love everything about Lucas. LOL.
Also this story had some DRAMA...so if you like a good sexy, dirty love story with a tad bit of drama then this is your story. Read it and find out what happens and I think at the end it will have you wanting to know more about Derek.
Ps...Dear Carly...I am not very curious about Kendall and Julian and I DEMAND a book...LOL
Thanks,
Love Lauren :)

The second book in this series is hot hot hott!!! The author grabbed meat hello and carried me through to the end. Her technique of writing just allows you to jump right in like you are the characters, she draws their emotions out and makes you feel!!!
Sexy Lucas Monroe has always been in love with Maxie Sullivan. It is their time to be together or is it? So many things are keeping them apart but Lucas will not stop to have what he has always wanted.
Ms. Phillips tells their hot steamy story with lots of suspense that you just don't want to put the book down until the very end!!!
I would recommend this book to sexy romance readers around the world as once again the billionaire boys have won my heart!!!! I can't wait until the next one!!
I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Rockstar Book Muse

This review of Going Down Fast by Carly Phillips is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. This is a sweet romance with suspense thrown in for good measure. It was a fairly quick read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I give it 4 Stars. It is actually the second book in this series, but it does not need to be read to enjoy this book. I hadn't read the first one either.

Who is ready for Going Down Fast?? THIS WOMAN IS! OMG Lucas...YUMMY! He melted my heart and weakened my knees. I loved his commitement to Maxie, who he secretly loved since his teen years. I was SO impressed with his attitude, his personality, his sex appeal, and his caring and dominanting ways.
I devoured this book within a day and a half because I had a HELL of a time putting it down! The romance sizzled, passion soared, and there was enough suspense that kept me nibbling my lip. This is THE BEST book so far in Carly Phillips Billionaire Bad Boys series! Not only was I impressed with the writing, but I was impressed with the characters developement. I could NOT ask for a better book.
Going Down Fast gets a SERIOUSLY YUMMY FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It was tender, it was sweet, and it was scorching. GIVE ME MORE PLEASE!

4 1/2 STARS!
Another sexy billionaire takes us for a ride in the latest Billionaire Bad Boys release by Carly Phillips! I loved Lucas, and other than wanting to kick Maxie a few times when I felt like she wasn’t appreciating him enough, I enjoyed her too. Lots of steamy romance, and a bit of intrigue as we try to figure out what’s going to happen with the trouble that is following her around!
Though they were childhood best friends and each secretly wanted more with the other, Lucas Monroe and Maxie Sullivan went separate routes through life. When hard times left her needing him, he was always there for her, willing to pick up the pieces. This time is more complicated than ever, and requires lots of close quarters. Will they finally decide to put down the armor and take a chance on each other?

Lucas may have been a shrewd businessman, but he was a little slow on the uptake when it came to his feelings. He lost his heart a long time ago and has suffered in silence ever since. When the woman of his dreams walks back into his life, he will move heaven and earth to make her his. Maxie is her own worse enemy. Her heart's desire is to find love and happiness. Not easy when choices keep making her life more of a mess. When danger and her past collide, will she face up to all the emotions she's tried to hide? Lucas is deeper than I realized. Who would have thought he battled insecurity and a broken heart behind that aloof exterior? He allowed his brain to out vote his heart. Going Down Fast is an emotional roller-coaster. Maxie and Lucas made me dizzy with the will they or won't they, but it was a ride I would gladly take again.

Going down Fast
Maxie and Lucas have know each other for most of their lives. Childhood friends who've secretly held torches for each other for just as long.
Lucas grew up feeling as if he was pitted against his older brother. A brother, Keith, who played sports while Lucas preferred the world of technology.
Faster forward to Keith and Maxie being married & pregnant. Maxie suddenly miscarries late in her pregnancy and she turns to the one person she knew she could count on...... and he's not her husband!
Can Maxie get over her need for independence in order to have the man she's always loved?! Does Lucas love her enough to step back and allow her to be that woman after a horrid marriage where she felt she had no control of her own life?
To get there they will have to deal with demons from Keith's past that keep popping up and derailing Maxie.

GOING DOWN FAST was witty, fast paced and teeming with sexiness! The friends to lovers premise is one of my absolute favourites and I enjoyed the gradual progression as Lucas and Maxie took their friendship to a whole new level. That being said, I have given this book only 3.5 stars because I didn't feel the chemistry between Lucas and Maxie. It wasn't passionate or intense like Kade and Lexie in book 1. I also felt that the past misdemeanours of Lucas's brother Keith brought a somber tone to the entire book right from the beginning. I felt that perhaps Ms. Phillips spent too much time focusing on the storyline with the missing flash drive rather than developing Lucas and Maxine's story more. In a nutshell, Ms. Phillip delivers a fun and sexy read in her signature writing style! 3.5 bad boy stars!

Lucas has always been more than Maxie's best friend...she's loved him almost all her life. But when he went away his older brother moved in on Maxie and convinced her that Lucas was marrying someone else. But when Lucas' brother dies in a car accident, Maxie finds out that he left her basically penniless. With no money and nowhere else to turn, Maxie moves in with Lucas while she tries to find a new job. But the sparks begin to fly now that they are in close proximity. And the lies that Keith told to them both begin to unravel further opening their hearts to one another.
This story touches your heartstrings from the get go. I know you'll love Lucas and Maxie as much as I did!

Thanks!
