This is a very interesting and loving word's that tell of the love a family has for one another, and their love of others even the ones who inflicted such pain and suffering, the strong values of the Jewish people passed on from the parents, the love and respect for the human life. God bless allof the Jewish people.

This book was written so well. I could picture everything as it was described so well. Such a sad story. I learned so much about the Jewish way of life during the war. Truly inspirational and what a brave person Klara and her family were.

Easy read, very inspirational. We must never forget. Her suffering and that of her family at the hands of the nazis and most especially a man, a doctor who by all accounts chose racism, cruelty and genocide as his path.
The Untold Story of Nonna Bannister - The Secret Holocaust Diaries :: A History of the Jews of Europe During the Second World War :: Surviving Hitler: A Boy in the Nazi Death Camps :: My Mother's Ring: A Holocaust Historical Novel :: A Holocaust Survivor's Autobiography - From A Name to A Number

It is truly heartbreaking that the Jewish people were persecuted, tortured and killed with such hatred. Klara's story of the rise of anti-Semitism, Hitler's rise to power, the lies and deceit of the Nazi party are horrendous. God help us all, if we ever forget.

I find this book very interesting and to the point. Author is very good with descriptions and settings. Feel like I was right there. A most distressing time in history and my heart goes out to the Jews who lost.

I am overwhelmed at everything Klara Wizel & her family went through. It is hard to envision the horrors the Jewish people endured during this dreadful part of history. This book brings to life the suffering. May we NEVER repeat such atrocities.

Amazing book well written. Inspiring I just can't imagine I come from a completely different generation the 80s and little safe old nz. You must read! I highly recommend I only read biographies and this is one of the best.
My husband's oma (grandmother) was from Holland and also escaped Hitler after he captured her for 2 years, her father was part of the Dutch resistance, Hitler forced her to perform for them at the time she was 18 stunningly beautiful and the singer of the Dutch symphony orchestra, they used her for many reasons (ones no-one likes to imagine) she also spoke fluently in 6 languages which obviously would work to Hitler's advantage. I'm yet to read her diary and short story she has published only as family have informed me how hard it is to read its broken there hearts, (it's much harder to read the truth about ones u know and love) Oma was the most loving happy appreciative person I ever met always so full of life and love no hatred. Unfortunately she passed away last year surrounded by all her family safe in nz. I thank her for the warmth she exuded.
I will be seeking through the websites provided from this story to share further personal information and perhaps even hopefully talk or make contact with any survivors that may have known or remembered our family survivors, you just never know.
My heart goes out to the true survivors, and ones that moved on and made complete joy of their lives and all around them.
Thank you Klara and all your family for your story

An amazing story of a very brave and strong young girl that thousands did not live through. She lived this story and became a woman much too young but for her families survival and to overcome hatred.

It is amazing that these people had the strength to move forward with such negative forces behind them. How could we imagine surviving with such obstacles in front of us with such a debilitating physical condition. It is amazing how strong the spirit can be to survive in such a weakened condition one wonders what makes such a physical and psychologically broken spirit can prevail.

I have read many books about Auschwitz but this is one of them best because it seems more realistic than many and is more fact based. I was very pleased that Karen escaped and she is so elated, as I am.

This book was so different from many of the Holocaust survivor stories I've read. The author manages to provide powerful insight and tell such a unique story of escape from Auschwitz-Birkenau. And, despite the horrible tragedy she suffered, her outlook on life is surprisingly refreshing.
